Jonathan Elmore
SHELBY - Mr. Jonathan Ray Elmore, 32, of 3400 Fallston Road, died Wednesday, Aug. 25, 1999, at Susan Road in Casar.
A native of Cleveland County, he was the son of Carolyn Greene of Shelby and the late Donald Ray Elmore. He was a member of Bethel Baptist Church. He worked as a paver at James Parker Asphalt Construction.
In addition to his mother, he is survived by one daughter, Jarica Lynn Elmore of Shelby; one brother, Jerry Wayne Elmore of Shelby; and his grandparents, John and Lucille Greene of Shelby and A.F. and Dorothy Elmore of Hickory.
The funeral will be Saturday at 11 a.m. at Lily Memorial Baptist Church with Dr. Ernest Arnold officiating. The body will be placed in the church 30 minutes before the service. Burial will follow at Sunset Cemetery.
The family will receive friends tonight from 7:30 to 8:30 at Clay-Barnette Funeral Home and other times at the home of John and Lucille Greene, 1612 Woodlawn Ave., Shelby.
Haywood Owens
SHELBY - Mr. Haywood Billy Owens, 70, of 719 Smith St., died Thursday, Aug. 26, 1999, at Cleveland Regional Medical Center.
A native of Cleveland County, he was the son of the late Carl Lee Owens and Mamie Lee Goins Owens. He was retired from Esther Mill Corp. He was a member of Beaver Dam Baptist Church.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by four brothers, Bobby Owens, Jack Owens, Jim Owens and June Owens.
He is survived by his wife, Doris B. Owens of Shelby; one daughter, Cheryle Perry of Las Vegas, Nev.; one stepdaughter, Debi Rawlings of Prince Fredrick, Md.; one stepson, Mike Smawley of Fairfax, Va.; one brother, Dennis Owens of Shelby; and four grandchildren.
The funeral will be Sunday at 2 p.m. at Cleveland Funeral Services Chapel with the Rev. Ed Hutchinson officiating. Burial will follow at Rose Hill Memorial Park.
The family will receive friends Saturday from 6:30 to 8 at the funeral home.
Tim Sisk
VALE - Mr. Timmy "Tim" Dale Sisk, 41, of 3763 N.C. 18 Highway, died Thursday, Aug. 26, 1999, at Catawba Memorial Hospital.
A native of Cleveland County, he was the son of the late Coy Ford Sisk and Vernie Hill Sisk. He worked as a trimmer at Sherrill Furniture in Hickory. He was a member of Laurel Hill United Methodist Church.
He is survived by his wife, Paula J. Sain Sisk; one daughter, Carrie Sisk of Vale; one stepson, Stephen W. Fredell of Lincolnton; one stepdaughter, Stephanie N. Fredell of Dallas; one sister and brother-in-law, Linda and Cecil Cook of Vale; and two nephews, Scottie Cook and Greg Cook, both of Vale.
The funeral will be Sunday at 4 p.m. at Laurel Hill United Methodist Church with the Revs. Dick Mitchem and Alvin Jones officiating. The body will be placed in the church 30 minutes before the service. Burial will follow at the church cemetery.

SHELBY - Mrs. Carolyn Cooper Sanders, 48, of 891 Cedarline Drive, died Monday, Aug. 23, 1999, at Cleveland Regional Medical Center.
A native of Cleveland County, she was born Dec. 4, 1950, the daughter of the late John Marion Cooper and Elsie Lonnie Hill Cooper. She was retired from PPG. She was a member of Fellowship Baptist Church.
She is survived by her husband, Kemp "Buddy" Gene Sanders of the home; one son and daughter-in-law, Kenneth and Tammy Denise Sanders of Shelby; two daughters and sons-in-law, Carol and Kenneth Mathis of Shelby and Tammy and Steven McKnight of Lawndale; one sister, Frances Cooper of Shelby; and three grandchildren.
The funeral will be Wednesday at 2 p.m. at Fellowship Baptist Church in Shelby with the Revs. Eugene Bumgardner, Jerry Marshall and Howard Michael officiating. The body will be placed in the church 30 minutes before the service. Burial will follow at Cleveland Memorial Park in Boiling Springs.

CLIFFSIDE - Mrs. Hazel Muriel Rayburn Murray, 89, died Monday, Aug. 23, 1999, at Carolina Care Center in Cherryville.
A native of McDowell County, she was the daughter of the late B.C. Rayburn and Johanna Morgan Rayburn. She was retired from Cone Mills. She was a member of Cliffside Baptist Church.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, S. N. Murray.
She is survived by one son and daughter-in-law, Hugh and Johanne Murray of Forest City; one sister, Dulcie Lovelace of Forest City; and one sister-in-law, Virginia Drake of Hendersonville.

SHELBY - Mr. Boyce Andrew Treadway, 40, of Berwick Drive, died Thursday, Aug. 26, 1999, at his residence.
A native of Madison County, he lived most of his life in Shelby. He was the son of the late Bill and June Shelton Treadway. He was a member of Beaver Dam Baptist Church.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Jim and Pearl Worley Shelton and Earlie and Flora Treadway.
He is survived by two sons, Jeremy Treadway and Brian Treadway, both of Shelby; and several aunts and uncles.
The funeral will be Sunday at 2 p.m. at the chapel at Madison Funeral Home with the Revs. E.J. Jenkins, Paul Sorrels and Ken Pruitt officiating. Burial will follow at Madison Seminary Baptist Church Cemetery.
There will be a memorial service at 7 p.m. Monday at Beaver Dam Baptist Church.

ELLENBORO - Mrs. Pat Biggerstaff Doty, 72, of 1324 New House Road, died Friday, Aug. 27, 1999, at Fair Haven Nursing Home in Bostic.
She was the daughter of the late William P. and Mamie Jones Biggerstaff. She was a retired bank employee and a member of Drury Dobbins Baptist Church.
She is survived by her husband, J.T. Doty of the home; three sons, Peyton Doty and Jerry Doty, both of Ellenboro, and Mickey Doty of Bostic; two sisters, Virginia Forbes and Margaret Lail, both of Ellenboro; and four grandchildren.

SHELBY - Rev. Ralph Edward Stewart, 56, of 907 Parkwood Road, died Saturday, Aug. 28, 1999, at his home.
A native of York County, S.C., he was a son of the late Sidney and Mamie Leola Hambright Stewart. He was a member of Liberty Baptist Church in Ellenboro and a graduate of Fruitland Baptist College. Mr. Stewart was an Army veteran, serving in Vietnam, and was a member of the DAV.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by two brothers, Eugene Stewart and Elton Stewart.
Surviving are his wife, Susan Bedenbaugh Stewart of the home; a daughter and son-in-law, Donna and Mike Wallace of Richburg, S.C.; a son, Michael Stewart of Sharon, S.C.; a step-son and step-daughter-in-law, Kevin and Missy Bedenbaugh of Hickory; four step-daughters and step-sons-in-law, Kim and Russ Bedenbaugh Efird and Kelli and Glenn Bedenbaugh Smith, all of Tega Cay, S.C., Gail and Charlie Johnston of Richburg, and Judy and Zack Lester of York, S.C.; four brothers and two sisters-in-law, Sidney and Joan Stewart Jr. of York, Jesse and Gail Stewart of Jupiter, Fla., Harold Stewart of York, and Robert Stewart of Forest City; three sisters and two brothers-in-law, Helen Beckham, Margaret and Ray Medlin, all of York, and Barbara and Larry Staton of Belmont; and 12 grandchildren.

FOREST CITY - Mrs. Lois Hunt Hardin, 86, of 184 Sedgefield Drive, died Friday, Aug. 27, 1999, at Rutherford Hospital.
A native of Rutherford County, she was a daughter of the late Edley and Daisy Harrison Hunt. She was retired from Cone Mills, Florence Plant, and was a member of Missionary Wesleyan Church in Forest City.
She is survived by her husband, Reid Hardin of the home; a sister, Ora Murray of Kings Mountain; and a number of nieces and nephews.
The funeral will be held at 2:30 p.m. today at Missionary Wesleyan Church, with the Revs. R.L. Prendergrast and Charles Battle officiating. The body will be placed in the church 30 minutes before the service. Burial will follow in Cool Springs Cemetery.

DENTON - Mrs. Ovellia Martin Edwards, 83, of Cedar Branch Road, died Saturday, Aug. 28, 1999, at the home of her son.
Mrs. Edwards was born June 22, 1916 in Cleveland County and was a daughter of the late Osh and Annie Russ Martin. She was a homemaker and a member of Faith Baptist Church.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Peter H. Edwards, who died in 1976.
Surviving are four sons, Orbra Edwards and Ronald Edwards, both of Denton, Horace Edwards of Canton and Dwight Edwards of Nesbitt, Miss.; eight grandchildren; five step-grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
The funeral will be held at 2 p.m. Monday at Faith Baptist Church, with the Rev. Charles Dickens officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.

DETROIT - Mr. Henry "Love" Barnett, formerly of Shelby, died Saturday, Aug. 28, 1999.
He was preceded in death by two brothers, Linton and Melvin Barnett. He was a former member of First Baptist Church of Lawndale. He had lived in Detroit for the past 46 years.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday in Detroit.

SHELBY - Mr. G. Elwyn Wright, 86, of 1404 N. Lafayette St., died Saturday, Aug. 28, 1999, at Cleveland Pines Nursing Center.
Born in Lincoln County, he was a son of the late Thomas and Minnie Wilson Kiser. He was a retired farmer and a member of Mulls Memorial Baptist Church.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Ada Louvenia McSwain Wright; a daughter, Mary Wright Garver; and a son, Douglas Wright.
He is survived by a daughter, Patsy W. Gomez of Naples, Fla.; three sons, Milton D. Wright of Cary, William R. Wright of Naples, Fla. and W. Bradford Wright of Morristown, Tenn.; 11 grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
