SHELBY - Mrs. Eula Henderson Hartley, 81, of 1327 Southhampton St., died Wednesday, Sept. 6, 2000, at White Oak Manor, Kings Mountain.
A native of Gaston County, she was the daughter of the late Alexander G. and Mattie Davis Henderson. She was a winder at Esther Mill and was a member of Zoar Baptist Church.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Rufus Cline Hartley; and a daughter, Debbie Floyd.
She is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, Mike and Linda Hartley of Morganton; a daughter and son-in-law, Jean and Gilbert Greene of Shelby; eight grandchildren, Barry Greene, Vickie Izzi, Ron Greene, Tamara Huffman, Crystal Ehaz, Melinda Gillespie, Jimmy Floyd and David Floyd; and eight great-grandchildren.
The funeral will be Friday at 2 p.m. at Zoar Baptist Church with Dr. Marvin Gobble officiating.
The body will be placed in the church 30 minutes before the service.
Burial will follow at Cleveland Memorial Park.
The family will receive friends tonight from 7 to 8:30 at Clay-Barnette Funeral Home and at other times at the home of Jean and Gilbert Greene, 608 Hanover Drive, Shelby.

SHELBY - Mrs. Aileen H. Patterson, 85, of White Oak Manor, died Friday, Sept. 8, 2000, at Hospice of Wendover.
A native of Cleveland County, she was the daughter of the late Clint and Vida Hughes Hawkins. She was a member of Lafayette Street United Methodist Church. She was retired from Lily Mill Co.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, John Lewis Patterson Sr.; a son, Johnny Patterson; and two brothers, Boyce Hawkins and Wray Hawkins.
She is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Margaret P. and C. Gene Bridges of Shelby; a brother, Archie Ralph Hawkins of Burlington; three sisters, Nellie Sue Turner and Selma Bridges, both of Shelby, and Annie Ruth Smith of Lattimore; nine grandchildren and their spouses, Frances and Dennis Burnham, Gene Jr. and Carolyn Bridges, Eddie and Debbie Bridges, Bobby and Teresa Bridges, David Gene Bridges, Pam Smith, Gail Pastula, Barbara Martin, Peggy Mull and Richard Blackburn; 16 great-grandchildren, Becky B. Eaker, Phillip Burnham, Kevin Burnham, Kimberely Bridges, Kyle Bridges, Kristen Bridges, Amanda Bridges, John Bridges, Terry Bridges, Johnny Kale, Jason Kale, Shellie Phillips, Quay Farris, Kyle Farris, Marshall Walker and Benjamin Blackburn; and three great-great-grandchildren, Karley Breanna Eaker, Allyson Lynsey Eaker and Baily Kyle Bridges.

HILDEBRAN - Mr. Bobby Lee Stansel, 63, of 3533 Sunset Hill Road, died Saturday, Sept. 9, 2000, at his home.
A native of Cleveland County, he was the son of the late Paskle Ray and Myrtle Lee Willis Stansel. He was retired from Schneider Mills and was a member of Mount Pleasant Baptist Church, Mooresboro.
He is survived by three sons, Bobby Stansel and Steve Stansel, both of Hildebran, and Wayne Stansel of Norfolk, Va.; one daughter, Angie Stansel of Taylorsville; one brother, Gene Stansel of Mooresboro; one sister, Betty Bumgardner of Taylorsville; 12 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
A graveside service will be today at 3 p.m. at Mount Pleasant Baptist Church with the Rev. Greg Qualls officiating.

SHELBY - Mr. William "Pee Wee" Jennings, 58, of 305 Cedarwood Drive, died Wednesday, Sept. 6, 2000, at Carolinas Medical Center in Charlotte.
A native of Cleveland County, he was the son of the late Alice Flanders and William Jennings. He was a member of Lovely Holy Temple in Lincolnton where he was a deacon.
He is survived by his wife, Barbara Jennings; a daughter, Lether Jennings of Shelby; a son, Sentell Jennings of Shelby; three sisters, Edna Wright, Dale Eaves and Von Walker, all of Shelby; one brother, Riley Flanders of Gainesville, Fla.; two brothers-in-law, John Wright and Tommy Eaves of Shelby; a grandson, Rony Fullenwider; and a nephew, Riley Flanders.
The funeral will be Tuesday, September 12, 2000 at 4 p.m. at Enloe Mortuary with Prophetess Dovie Brooks officiating. Burial will follow at Webb Memorial Lawns.

SHELBY - Mr. James Thomas Poston Sr., 80, of 704 Gardner St., died Tuesday, Sept. 5, 2000.
A native of Cleveland County, born Feb. 6, 1920, he was the son of the late Jim and Dona Poston. He was a retired truck drive for O.E. Ford.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Harold Poston; a grandson, Brian Poston and three brothers and three sisters.
He is survived by his wife of 50 plus years, Mary Lee Poston; three daughters and two sons-in-law, Bernice P. and Eugene Laborn, Brenda P. and Edward Watkins, and Evelyn R. Jones, all of Shelby; two sons and daughters-in-law, James Jr. and Marie Poston of Shelby and Charles and Beverly Poston of College Park, Mich.; one sister and a brother-in-law, Eselline and Preston Lowe; one brother and a sister-in-law, Yates Sr. and Dorothy Poston; two sisters-in-law, Lallis Mae Wilson and Rosa Lee Peeler; 13 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; and relatives and friends.

FOREST CITY - Mrs. Doris Bartee Matheny, 76, of Morrow Drive died Monday, June 11, 2001, at Rutherford Hospital.
A native of Cleveland County, she was retired from the Cone Mills Cliffside Plant with 40 years of service. She was a member of Sandy Mush Baptist Church for 44 years and was active in many church organizations.
She was preceded in death by her parents, John A. and Maggie McCraw Bartee.
She is survived by her husband, Alton Matheny of the home; three daughters, Nancy Robbins of Virginia Beach, Va., Donna Metcalf of Forest City and Cindy Hogan of Spartanburg, S.C.; two brothers, Horace Bartee and Johnnie Ray Bartee, both of Mooresboro; two sisters, Velia Humphries and Ophelia McCraw, both of Mooresboro; five grandchildren and one great - grandchild.

SHELBY - Mr. Jessie Lee Adams, 72, of 1101 N. Morgan St., died Sunday, June 10, 2001, at Cleveland Regional Medical Center.
A native of Cleveland County, he worked at Daniel Construction Company.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Jim and Janie Mason Adams; a daughter, Carolene Adams; five brothers, Lee Adams, Odell Adams, Tom Adams, Collie Adams and June Adams; and three sisters, Mary Rainey, Daisey Byers and Carrie Mintz.
He is survived by two sons, Johnny L. Adams of Shelby and Gary Lee Chambers of Gastonia; seven daughters, Janice L. Adams of Amherst, N.Y., Caroline A. McCluney, Dale Wray and Kitty Morrow, all of Shelby; Lizzie M. Gidney of Kingstown, Gunita Johnson and Brenda Petty, both of Kings Mountain; one sister, Ola Mae Tate of Kings Mountain; a former wife, Eliza Mae Ross of Buffalo, N.Y.; seventeen grandchildren; and a number of great - grandchildren and other relatives.
The funeral will be Wednesday at 3 p.m. at S.T. Enloe Memorial Chapel with the Rev. Dean Wray officiating. Burial will follow at Webb Memorial Lawns. SHELBY - Mrs. Mary Jeanette O'Dell, 89, of Altera Sterling House died Tuesday at Cleveland Regional Medical Center.
A native of Naples, Texas, she was the daughter of the late Dr. Charles and Lura Bryan Hibbitts and was a retired anesthetist and member of Central United Methodist Church, the Ladies Golf Association of the Cleveland County Club and the Cleveland Rose Society.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Paul C. O'Dell.
She is survived by her daughter and son - in - law, Mariel O'Dell and Tom of Shelby; two grandchildren, Mary Jeannette Leonardi and her husband, Andrew, of Spartanburg, S.C., and Margaret Mariel Camp of Carrboro; and one great - grandchild, Thomas Michael Leonardi.
The graveside service will be Thursday at 10 a.m. at Elmwood Cemetery Chapel in Birmingham, Ala., with Dr. Charles Gattis officiating. A memorial service will be held in Shelby at 10 a.m. Monday at Central United Methodist Church with Dr. Joe Reeves officiating. The family will receive friends after the memorial service in the church fellowship hall.

ELLENBORO - Mrs. Ola Lee Murray Melton, 85, of Tiney Road, died Monday, June 11, 2001, at Rutherford Hospital.
A native of Cleveland County, she was the daughter of the late Marshall M. and Georganna Philbeck Murray. She was retired from Ellenboro Mill, was a member of the Order of Eastern Star and Corinth Baptist Church.
In addition to her parents, she was the preceded in death by her husband, N.C. Melton.
She is survived by five sons, Norman Melton, Joe Melton, Billy Melton, Chivous Melton and Jimmy Melton, all of Ellenboro; one brother, Paul Murray of Ellenboro; two sisters, Belle Padgett and Inez Brooks, both of Ellenboro; 21 grandchildren; and 27 great - grandchildren.
The funeral will be Thursday at 2 p.m. at Corinth Baptist Church with the Rev. Ad Hopper officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

SPINDALE - Mr. Marvin Heath Twitty, 28, of 806 Spindale St., died Thursday, June 7, 2001, at Spartanburg Regional Health Care Systems.

SHELBY - Mrs. Katherine "Kay" Scruggs Mock, 53, died Saturday, June 9, 2001, in Valdosta, Ga.
She was born in the Panama Canal Zone, and was the daughter of Odis and Doris Scruggs of Shelby. She was raised in Woodstock, Ga.
She was preceded in death by her sister, Alice Scruggs Williams, and a grandmother, Alice Owens Childer.
In addition to her parents, she is survived by her husband, Bruce Mock of the home; two sons and a daughter - in - law, Tommy and Sally Bates and Robbie Bates, all of Woodstock; two daughters, Christie Clark and Kathy Bates, both of Woodstock; four sisters and three brothers - in - law, Linda and Cliff Tan of Philadelphia, Charlotte Little of Gastonia, Vicki and Gary Howse of Shelby and Sally Scruggs of Asheville; two brothers and one sister - in - law, Robert Lee Scruggs and Lee and Lynda Scruggs, all of Shelby; eight grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews, aunts and uncles.

SHELBY - Mr. John David Jackson, 46, of 34 Clifton Drive, died Tuesday, June 12, 2001, at Cleveland Regional Medical Center.
A native of Cleveland County, he was the son of Harold G. and Evelyn Leigh Jackson of Shelby and the late Mae Hardin Jackson. He was a Navy veteran of the Vietnam era who served as a survival training instructor. He was a retail tool salesman at Lowe's in Shelby and was a member of Patterson Springs Baptist Church.
In addition to his surviving parents, he is survived by his wife, Annise Kinley Jackson of the home; a son, Joshua Caleb Jackson of Pensacola, Fla.; two daughters and a son - in - law, Kelly Dianne Stophel of Spangdahlem Air Base, Germany, and Jennifer Joy and Dennis Chastang of Milton, Fla.; two brothers and a sister - in - law, Harold Jackson Jr. of Boiling Springs and Tim and Tina Jackson of Fuquay - Varina; two sisters and brothers - in - law, Barbara and Tom Crider of Shelby and Angela and Jeff Waldrop of Charlotte; and three grandchildren, Krista Stophel, Sierra Chastang and Dennis Chastang III.

She is survived by her husband, Samuel Gill of the home; a daughter, Linda Harris of Philadelphia; two sons, Thomas Roach of Philadelphia and James Roach of Shelby; six grandchildren; eight great - grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
