Dorothy Logan
DURHAM - Mrs. Dorothy Willard Logan, 88, of 2600 Croasdaile Farm Parkway, formerly of Mooresboro, died Monday, Oct. 23, 2000, at Croasdaile Village Retirement Home.
A native of Coronaca, S.C., she was the daughter of the late Marcus Cason Willard and Ola Mae Fellers. She received a degree from Winthrop College and retired from the Cleveland County School System after 18 years. She was a member of Sandy Run Baptist Church, where she taught the TEL Sunday School Class and was a member of the Mooresboro Book Club.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Charles Patterson Logan.
She is survived by four daughters and sons-in-law, Barbara Logan and Nelson Cooper of Cary, Carolyn Logan and Charles Wall of Mooresboro, Katherine Logan and Jack Shoaf of Winston-Salem and Christina Logan and Darryl Wilson of Summerfield; three sons and two daughters-in-law, Mike Logan of Daphne, Ala., Nick and Shirley Logan of Whiteville and Charles and Sarah Logan of Jupiter, Fla.; a sister, Pearle Reese of Greenwood, S.C.; 18 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
The funeral will be Friday at 2:30 p.m. at Sandy Run Baptist Church with the Rev. Tim Hendrick officiating.
The body will be placed in the church one hour and 30 minutes before the service.
Burial will follow at the church cemetery.
The family will receive friends one hour before the service at the church and at other times at the home of a daughter, Carolyn Wall, 414 Sandy Run Church Road, Mooresboro.

SPARTANBURG, S.C. - Mrs. Martha Byers Biggerstaff, 77, of 7908 Valley Falls Road, died Tuesday, Oct. 24, 2000, at Spartanburg Regional Medical Center.
A native of Polk County, she was the daughter of the late James Harrison and Annie Ella Johnson Byers. She was a Baptist.
She is survived by her husband, Wilber E. Biggerstaff of the home; three sisters, Gladys B. Jones of Spartanburg, Marty B. Meehan of Oxhard, Calif., and Bertha Frank Eaker of Lawndale.
The funeral will be tonight at 7 at J.F. Floyd Mortuary North Church Street Chapel with the Rev. Everett Foster officiating.
Entombment will be Thursday at 2 p.m. at Cleveland Memorial Park Mausoleum, Boiling Springs.
The family will receive friends after the funeral at the chapel.

Henry Capps
SHELBY - Mr. Henry Capps, 77, of 1228 North Lafayette St., died Sunday, Oct. 22, 2000, at Cleveland Regional Medical Center.
A native of Seneca, S.C., he was the son of the late Sloan and Myrtle Graham Capps. He was retired from Ora Mill Co. and was a member of Calvary Baptist Church. He served in the Army during World War II.
He is survived by his wife, Ollie Canipe Capps of the home; a son and daughter-in-law, Arthur and Chun-Sik Capps of Tallahassee, Fla.; a daughter and son-in-law, Lena and Steve Greene of Shelby; three sisters, Louise Hardin of Gastonia, Mildred Rochester of Gaffney, S.C., and Elizabeth Brown of Grover; three grandchildren, Kerry Winfrey, Dakota Terry and Sara Greene; and a great-grandchild, Aaron Winfrey.
A graveside service will be Friday at 1 p.m. at Sunset Cemetery with the Rev. Pat Jobe officiating.
The family will receive friends Thursday from 6 to 8 p.m. at Clay-Barnette Funeral Home and at other times at the home, 1228 N. Lafayette St.

Ab Spangler
SHELBY - Mr. Jonathon Abner "Ab" Spangler, 81, of 1201 Meadowood Lane, died Tuesday, Oct. 24, 2000, at home.
A native of Cleveland County, he was the son of the late James Lee and Minnie Glascoe Spangler. He was retired from N.C. Department of Transportation Sign Division after 33 years. He was a member of Elizabeth Baptist Church, a member of Keenagers Choir, Master Workers Sunday School Class, where he was a treasurer, and was a former deacon. He also had his own lawn mower repair business.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Yates Spangler and Neil Spangler; two half brothers, Joe Spangler and Weldon Spangler; a sister, Thelma Spangler; and a half sister, Erie Metcalf.
He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Virginia Dycus Spangler; a son and daughter-in-law, Dr. Craig and the Rev. Gayle Spangler of Belmont; two brothers, Hugh Spangler of Shelby and Bobby Spangler of Florida; a grandchild, Angela Spangler of Belmont; and three special friends, John and Frances Cline and Mary Dycus.
The funeral will be Thursday at 10 a.m. at Elizabeth Baptist Church with the Revs. Terry Jordan and Cline Borders officiating.
The body will be placed in the church 30 minutes prior to the service.
Burial will follow at the church cemetery.

SHELBY - Mr. Wilbert Jerome Lathers, 41, of 825 Frederick St., died Sunday, June 3, 2001, at Hospice at Wendover.
A native of Cleveland County, he had worked for Seal Wire Company and was a former member of Roberts Tabernacle C.M.E. Church.
He was preceded in death by his father, John Wilbert Spann; two brothers, Bobby Joe Lathers and Danny Lathers; his grandparents, R. L. and Omie Lee Watson.
He is survived by his mother, Mattie Lee Lathers; a brother, Larry Dean Littlejohn of Shelby; a son, Sharice Barnette of Gastonia; a special brother - like friend, Ronald Goode; a special friend and sister - in - law, Flora Littlejohn; two aunts, Adele Ruff and Virginia Elmore, all of Shelby; two uncles, R.L. Watson of Washington, D.C., and Riley Watson of Shelby; a great uncle, Manning "Stick" Sinkler of Shelby; five nieces, four nephews and many other relatives and friends.
The funeral will be Wednesday at 1:30 p.m. at Enloe Mortuary Chapel with the Rev. David Fambrough officiating. Burial will follow at Webb Memorial Lawns.

Donald Blanton Sr.
KINGS MOUNTAIN - Mr. Donald Eugene Blanton Sr., 56, of 200 Ganley St., died Saturday, June 2, 2001, at Kings Mountain Hospital.
He is survived by his father, Andrew Blanton of Kings Mountain; his mother, Sarah Bell Blanton of Kings Mountain; a son, Donald Eugene Blanton Jr. of Shelby; two daughters, Lisa Blanton Arrowood of Conover and Lori Marie Blanton of Kings Mountain; four grandchildren, Brittnay Arrowood, Brandon Arrowood, Amy Arrowood and Scottie Blanton.
A graveside funeral will be held today at 11:30 a.m. at Mountain Rest Cemetery, with Johnny Mote officiating.

Wade Bradley
ANDREWS - Mr. Wade James "Big Dad" Bradley, 71, of Stewart Road, died Monday, June 4, 2001, at Valley View Care Center.
A native of Cherokee County, he was an Army veteran, serving in the Korean War. He was an explosives expert and worked in the construction of tunnels. He was a Baptist.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Claude James and Lena Clark Bradley; a son, Wade Cross Bradley; a daughter, Jeanette Mae Bradley; a brother, Rolan Bradley; a brother and his wife, Wayne and Jean Bradley; and a sister, Mildred Palmer.
He is survived by three sons, Ricky James Bradley of Gastonia, Anthony Joseph Bradley of Maury and Steve Bradley of Andrews; two daughters, Sherry Davidson of Earl and Katherine Bradley of Shelby; two sisters and a brother - in - law, Hildred McCurry of Gastonia and Jody and Bill Harris of Andrews; seven grandchildren; six great - grandchildren; and a special friend, Bobbie Matheson of Andrews, and her family.
The memorial service and burial will be 11 a.m. Wednesday in Valleytown Cemetery with the Rev. Ron McClure officiating.

SHELBY - Mr. Donell Daves, 82, of 2517 Eric Road, died Sunday, June 3, 2001, at Cleveland Regional Medical Center.
A native of Rutherford County, he served in the Navy in World War II. He retired as a textile worker and was a member of Mount Olive Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by his parents, James Thomas and Lala Hamrick Daves.
He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Irene Richards Daves of Shelby; four daughters and sons - in - law, Deloris and J. W. "Jake" Bridges of New House, Verlene and Charles Suttles of Gastonia, Glenda and James Beaver of Shelby and Cynthia and Steve Watts of Fallston; five brothers, Homer Daves of Bostic, Huber Daves of Atlanta, and Jim Daves, Howard Daves and Jesse Daves, all of Shelby; three sisters, Doris Turner and Elaine Whitaker, both of Shelby, and Patsy Long of Spartanburg, S.C.; 10 grandchildren and seven great - grandchildren.
The funeral will be today at 11 a.m. at Mount Olive Baptist Church, with the Revs. Gerald Porter and Alton Martin officiating. Burial will be at Rose Hill Memorial Park.

A native of Madison County, he was the son of the late Carter and Junie Lester Jarvis Caldwell. He served in the US Navy during World War II. He was a retired textile employee and a member of the Henrietta First Baptist Church.
He is survived by his wife, Eula Kimbrell Caldwell; two sons, Joel Caldwell of Campobello, S.C., Larry Caldwell of Ellenboro; one daughter, Glenda Dills of Rutherfordton; two sisters, Virginia Shelnutt of Taylors, S.C., and Hazel Smith of Startex, S.C.; 11 grandchildren; 21 great - grandchildren; and two great - great - grandchildren.
The funeral will be Thursday at 3 p.m. at Henrietta First Baptist Church with the Rev. Trey Gilliam and Chaplain Joseph Caldwell officiating.

A native of Rutherford County, she was the daughter of the late Durham Sexton Bridges and E. Angeline Blanton. She was a retired licensed practical nurse who did private duty at Crawley Memorial Hospital. She was a graduate of Boiling Springs High School and Cleveland Community College. She was a member of Pleasant Ridge Baptist Church, where she was in Dorcus Sunday school class.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Glenn P. Whisnant; two sisters, Quay Bridges Gilly and Gar Bridges Ledbetter; and five brothers, Von Bridges, Robert Bridges, Hal Bridges, Ray Bridges and Gail Bridges.
She is survived by a sister - in - law, Evelyn Bridges of Boiling Springs; and nieces, nephews, and great - nieces and nephews.
The funeral will be Thursday at 11 a.m. in the chapel of Cleveland Funeral Services with the Rev. Terry Cagle officiating.
Burial will be in Cleveland Memorial Park.

SHELBY - Mrs. Mary Lou Hardin, 80, of 411 Whitener St., died Tuesday, June 5, 2001, at Cleveland Regional Medical Center.
A native of Gaston County, she was the daughter of the late Everette Lee Hardin and Ola Mae Blanton Hardin Poole. She retired after 48 years service from Belding Lily and was a member of Lily Memorial Baptist Church and the Lily Old Timers Club.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sister, Margaret Willis.
She is survived by her husband, Herman "Jim" Hardin of the home; daughter and son - in - law, Connie Hardin and Doug Hoyle of Shelby; two sisters, Esther Sisk and Bonnie Worth, both of Shelby; three grandsons, "Dusty" Hoyle and his wife, McCall, of Atlanta and Dereik Hoyle and his wife, Rhonda, of Shelby and Wes Hoyle of Shelby; two great - grandsons Jacob Lee Hoyle and Taner Hoyle, both of Shelby; and great - granddaughter Emilie Beattie of Atlanta.
The graveside service will be Thursday at 2 p.m. at Patterson Springs Baptist Church Cemetery with Dr. Ernest Arnold officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
