Lones Sanders
SHELBY - Mrs. Lones Mae Olglesby Sanders, 74, of 209 Claytenna St., died Thursday, Oct. 26, 2000, at Country Time Inn, Kings Mountain.
Born Nov. 29, 1925, a native of Cherokee County, S.C., she was the daughter of the late William E. and Mattie Lipscomb Oglesby. She was retired from Beams Nursing Home.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by three brothers, T.B. Oglesby, O.C. Oglesby and Douglas Oglesby; and four sisters, Christina O. Wilson, Christory O. Haywood, Nina O. McCluney and Armitte O. Garrison; and a raised as sister, Annie Mae W. Fuller.
She is survived by her husband, Jonah Sanders; three sons and daughters-in-law, Amon Jonah and Louticia Sanders, Terry Dean Sanders, Wilbert Edgar and Jackie Sanders; four daughters and sons-in-law, Violet S. and James Michael, Louise S. and Joe Maddox, Retener S. and Larry Watts and Regina S. and J.W. Woods Jr.; raised as sister, Ellen W. Adams; and many nieces and newphews.
The funeral will be today at 3 p.m. at First Baptist Church of Earl with the Rev. S.A. McClain officiating.
The family will receive friends 30 minutes prior to the funeral at the church. Burial will follow at the church cemetery.

Margaret Bosworth
LAWNDALE - Mrs. Margaret Caroline Jackson Bosworth, 72, of 100 Richard St., died Wednesday, Oct. 25, 2000, at Cleveland Regional Medical Center.
A native of Columbus, Ohio, she was born Jan. 17, 1928, the daughter of the late Harry and Caroline Rosenfeld Jackson. She was a retired seamstress.
She is survived by two sons and daughters-in-law, Marc and Chris Bosworth of Columbus and Bill and Debbie Bosworth of Wingate; two daughters and a son-in-law, Deanna "Dee" Koester of Lawndale and Debbie and Ray Jastal of Toledo, Ohio; a brother, Thomas Jackson of Las Cruces, N.M.; a sister, Margie Waibel of Columbus; 21 grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
A graveside service will be Sunday at 2:30 p.m. at House of Prayer Cemetery with the Revs. Cecil Buff and Clyde Price officiating.
The family will receive friends tonight from 6:30 to 8:30 at Stamey Funeral Home.
George Lewis
KINGS MOUNTAIN - Mr. George Lewis, 78, of 132 Lake Montonia Road, died Wednesday Oct. 25, 2000, at Hospice of Cleveland County.
A native of Cleveland County, he was the son of the late John and Ola Adams Lewis.
He was a former employee of Warner Swasey and a member of Galilee United Methodist Church.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Robert Lewis; a sister, Sarah Lewis; and a daughter, Patricia Miller.
He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Frankie Williams Lewis; two sisters and a brother-in-law, Thelma Degree and Martha and Charles Odems; a brother and sister-in-law, L.C. and Alline Lewis; two grandchildren; and two great grandchildren.
The funeral will be today at 2 p.m. at Galilee United Methodist Church with Rev. Clarence Wright officiating. Burial will follow in Adams Chapel Cemetery.
The family will receive friends at the church one hour before the service.

Jerry Camp
SHELBY - Mr. Jerry Douglas Camp, 64, of 805 Hampton St., died Saturday, Oct. 28, 2000, at Cleveland Regional Medical Center.
Born in Cleveland County Nov. 20, 1935, he was a son of the late John Manson and Edna Alberta Shields Camp. He retired as an insurance agent and was a member of Palm Tree United Methodist Church, where he was a member of the Goodwill Sunday School class and the United Methodist Men. He was a former member and past president of the Shelby Lions Club.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by four brothers, Nathan Camp, Edwin "Doc" Camp, Emmett Camp and Billy Camp; six sisters, Savannah Phillips, Ruth Melton, Mary Grayson, Anna Martin, Lula Bell Camp and Thelma Camp; and a stepdaughter, Debbie Shuford.
He is survived by his wife, Nellie White Camp of the home; a son and daughter-in-law, Douglas and Debbie Camp of Hong Kong; a daughter and son-in-law, Tammy and Scott Trammel of Lattimore; a stepson and his wife, Tony and Joy Shuford of Lawndale; four brothers, John "Sammy" Camp, Tom Camp and Charles Camp of Shelby, and Robert Camp of Kings Mountain; three sisters, Levonda "Polly" Bridges of Casar and Jane Bridges and Brendan LaGrand of Shelby; and five grandchildren, Chad Camp, Jody Carroll, Kalan Trammel, Jordan Shuford and Ivy Shuford.
The funeral will be Tuesday at 2 p.m. at Palm Tree United Methodist Church, with the Revs. Jim Scott and Doug Love officiating. The body will be placed in the church 30 minutes before the service. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

Preston Ward
FOREST CITY - Mr. Preston Stewart Ward, 27, of 207 Elizabeth Ave., died Saturday, Oct. 28, 2000.
A native of Rutherford County, he was a member of Florence Baptist Church and was a truck driver for Stonecutter Trucking Co.
He is survived by his father, Bob Ward of Forest City; his mother, Nancy Hoyle of Caroleen; a grandmother, Mary Quinn Kiser of Forest City; a half-sister, Crystal Morrow of Forest City; an uncle, Michael Ward; and a cousin, Michaelle Waters.
A graveside service will be held Tuesday at 11 a.m. at Cool Springs Cemetery, with Dr. Bobby Gantt officiating.
No visitation is planned.

George Cornwell
MORGANTON - Mr. George Thomas Cornwell, 95, died Sunday, Oct. 29, 2000, at his home.
Born March 3, 1905, in Cleveland County, he was a son of the late George Landrum Cornwell and Julia Gold Cornwell. He was the last to survive of their 13 children.
Mr. Cornwell was preceded in death by his two wives. In 1933, he married Mary Louise Huffman of Morganton, with whom he had three daughters. She died in 1961. He married Louise Elizabeth Grill of Valdese in 1965 and was a stepfather to her two children. She died in 1986.
In addition to his wives, he was preceded in death by his daughter, Ann Cornwell Patton of Morganton, his brothers, Dr. A.M. Cornwell, Lee W. Cornwell, A. Hal Cornwell, James F. Cornwell and Robert Cornwell; and his sisters, Mrs. Clemma Elmore, Mrs. Guy Hull, Mrs. Claude Stamey, Mrs. Claude Gettys, Mrs. Yates Horn, Mrs. Margaret Mull and Mrs. Harvey Warlick.
He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Morganton, where he served as a life deacon, Sunday school teacher, choir member and music department chairman. He was instrumental in the construction of the present sanctuary on West Union Street. He graduated from Mars Hill College and in 1933 earned a degree from the University of North Carolina School of Pharmacy. He became a member of the Board of Trustees at Mars Hill College in 1952 and served on this board for 25 years. In 1973, Cornwell Hall, a classroom building named in his honor, was dedicated.
Mr. Cornwell was president and treasurer of Cornwell Drug Stores, a chain he began in 1934 with the purchase of his first store in Shelby. When he retired from this position in 1978, the chain had grown to 13 stores.
He was a past member of the Consolidated Pharmacy Fund Committee of the N.C. Pharmaceutical Association. He was a trustee of the UNC School of Pharmacy, where he established the Cornwell Scholarship, providing grants for hundreds of North Carolina students.
In 1999, he was honored by the Burke County United Way as the first Alexis de Toqueville Society member in Burke County's history. This is a national society of members who have donated a minimum of $10,000 to their local United Way. He was a benefactor and founder of the Huffman-Cornwell Foundation and served as chairman for many years. He also served for many years on the board of trustees at Grace Hospital. He established an endowment there for nursing scholarships.
Mr. Cornwell was a past president of the Burke Freezer Locker Co. and Burke County Merchants Association. He was on the board of directors at Drexel Enterprises, Wachovia Bank, Mimosa Hills Golf Club, Morganton Chamber of Commerce, the Morganton Parks and Recreation Foundation and Morganton Kiwanis Club. He served for several years as vice president and director for the Burke County Fair Association, which he also helped organize.
He is survived by two daughters, Mary Louise McCombs and her husband, J.H. McCombs Jr., and Barbara Cornwell Norvell and her husband, Jerry Norvell, all of Morganton; grandchildren, Mary Lou McCombs Hudspeth, James McCombs III, Tom McCombs, Julie McCombs Garner, Jan Norvell Stephanides, Lou Norvell Crouch, Jay Norvell, Brad Norvell, Richard Avery and Anna Avery-Leagan; stepchildren, Renee Grill Gravel and her husband, Jack Gravel, and Charles Albert Grill and his wife, Peggy Grill; stepgrandchildren, Jack Gravel, Katie Gravel, Bo Gravel, Troy Grill and Jake Grill; 17 great-grandchildren and three stepgreat-grandchildren.
A graveside service will be held Tuesday at Forest Hill Cemetery in Morganton, with a memorial service to follow at 11 a.m. at First Baptist Church, with the Rev. Dr. Thomas Bland, the Rev. Bob Shepherd and the Rev. Caroline Grisette officiating.
The family will receive friends in the parlor of First Baptist Church after the services.

Judy Glass
FALLSTON - Mrs. Judy K. Glass, 79, of Open View Retirement Home, formerly of Shelby, died Saturday, Oct. 28, 2000, at Cleveland Regional Medical Center.
Born July 26, 1921, in Cleveland County, she was a daughter of the late Fred and Carrie Russ Hoppes. She was a homemaker and a member of Bethel Baptist Church of Shelby.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by three brothers, F.H. Hoppes, Wray Hoppes and Bobby Gene Hoppes.
She is survived by two sisters, Leona Sansing of Shelby and Cora Lee of Plano, Texas; a brother, Frank Mitchel Hoppes of Boiling Springs; and 14 nieces and nephews.
The funeral is today at 3 p.m. in the chapel of Clay-Barnette Funeral Home, with the Rev. Stan Webb officiating. Burial will be in Cleveland Memorial Park.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home one hour before the service. At other times, the family will be at 628 Annieline Drive, Shelby.

Robert Gold
SHELBY - Mr. Robert Milton Gold, 58, of 1317 North Lafayette St., died Saturday, Oct. 28, 2000, at Cleveland Regional Medical Center.
Born in Cleveland County, he was a son of Griffin Byron Gold and Ellie Campbell Gold of Shelby. He retired as owner and manager of Western Steer in Shelby. He was a member of Westview Baptist Church, a past member of Shelby Rotary Club, and a member of Shelby Lodge 744, where he was past Master and a member of Scottish Rite and the Shriners. He served in the Army Reserve.
In addition to his parents, he is survived by his wife, Sheila Wiles Gold of Shelby; two sons and a daughter-in-law, Charles and Beth Gold of Matthews and David Gold of Shelby; two sisters, Lib Revels and Margaret Cummings of Shelby; five brothers, James Gold and Phil Gold of Columbia, S.C., Bill Gold of Forest City, Dan Gold of Winston-Salem and Doug Gold of Shelby; and one grandson, Christian Robert-David Gold of Matthews.
The funeral will be Tuesday at 2 p.m. at Westview Baptist Church, with the Rev. Jim Brackett officiating. The body will be placed in the church 30 minutes before the service. Burial will be in Cleveland Memorial Park, with full Masonic rites.
