Fred Sisk
SHELBY - Mr. Fred A. Sisk, 57, of 2118 Cameo Drive, died Monday, Nov. 27, 2000, at Cleveland Regional Medical Center.
A native of Cleveland County, he was the son of the late Fred S. and Lillian Huffstickler Sisk. He was a driver for the North Carolina Department of Transportation.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Fredia Blanton.
He is survived by three sisters, Maxine Sisk of Shelby, Ruth Randall of Lawndale and Norma Henson of Lattimore; four nephews, Cris Randall of Marion, Todd Randall of Lawndale and Tracy Blanton and Keith Blanton, both of Lattimore; three nieces, Hope Crowder, Taylor Selby and Kayla Crowder, all of Kings Mountain; and a cousin, Mary Ann Rash of Shelby.
The funeral will be Wednesday at 2 p.m. at Clay-Barnette Chapel with the Rev. David Rabb officiating.
Burial will be at Sunset Cemetery.
The family will receive friends tonight from 6:30 to 8 at Clay-Barnette Funeral Home and at other times at the home.

FOREST CITY - Ms. Nadel Hicks Wilkins, 61, of 111 Astride Lane, died Friday, Nov. 24, 2000, at Rutherford Hospital.

Essie Jackson
KINGS MOUNTAIN - Mrs. Essie McFalls Jackson, 77, of 123 Parkdale Circle, died Monday, Nov. 27, 2000, at Kings Mountian Hospital.
A native of Gaston County, she was the daughter of the late Charles and Emma Lynn McFalls. She was a member of Family Worship Center, Church of God for 50 years, where she was a choir member, member of Young at Heart Senior Group and former Sunday school teacher. She was a homemaker.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a daughter, Claudette Conner; a grandson, Todd Conner; four sisters, Edith Toms, Ruth Harrill, Eunice Smith and Jeanette Mullinax; and three brothers, Lloyd McFalls, Charles McFalls and Elmer McFalls.
She is survived by her husband of 60 years, William H. Jackson of Kings Mountain; four sons and daughters-in-law, Larry and Pat Jackson, Harry and Elaine Jackson and Sonny and Brenda Jackson, all of Kings Mountain, and Jerry and Desiree Jackson of Dallas; a sister, Lorena Huffstetler of Forest City; eight grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
The funeral will be Wednesday at 3 p.m. at Family Worship Center, Church of God with the Rev. Roger Woodard officiating.
Burial will be at Mountain Rest Cemetery.

Plez Hilton
LAWNDALE - Mr. Plez Walter Lee Hilton, 68, of Lawndale, died Wednesday, Nov. 29, 2000, at Carolinas Medical Center in Charlotte.
A native of Caldwell County, he was the son of the late Elem W. and Quitta Alice Mask Hilton. He was a retired mechanic from Village Motors and was an automotive mechanic for more than 40 years. He was a member of Union Baptist Church in Shelby where he served as a deacon and was on the Fund and Ground Committee and the Van Committee. He was formerly a member of Springs Road Baptist Church where he served as a deacon and committee member. He served in the Army and was awarded the National Service Medal, a United Nations Service Medal and a Korean War Service Medal.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two sons, Michael Watson and Lynn Watson; and four brothers, Sam Mask, Elmore Hilton, Baine Hilton and Fred Hilton.
He is survived by his wife, Betty Jo Keller Hilton; three daughters, Lisa Hilton Grigg of Shelby, Tina Hilton and Carla Hilton, both of Hickory; two sons, Keith Watson of Granite Falls and Keith Hilton of Hickory; a sister, Betty Jo Mercer of Kings Mountain; a granddaughter, Emily Grigg; and seven grandsons.
The funeral will be Saturday at 10 a.m. at Union Baptist Church with the Revs. Michael Shumate and Author Yount officiating.
A commital service will be at 12:15 p.m. Saturday at Catawaba Memorial Park.

ALPHARETTA, Ga. - Mrs. Mary K. Kokoska, of Alpharetta, Ga., formerly of Charlotte, died Sunday, Nov. 26, 2000.
Born March 5, 1914, in Boiling Springs, she was the daughter of the late Marcus and Maude Hamrick Kendrick. She was a retired educator and a long-time member of Albemarle Road Presbyterian Church in Charlotte.
She is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, Michael and Jane Kokoska of Alpharetta; a grandson, Peter Kokoska of Roswell, Ga.; a granddaughter, Perryn Kokoska of Alpharetta; and many nieces and nephews.
A graveside service will be today at 11 a.m. at Sharon Memorial Park with the Rev. Ron Tippens officiating.
The family will receive friends today from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. at the Charlotte Chapel of McEwen Funeral Service, 727 E. Morehead St., Charlotte.

SHELBY - Mrs. Emma Elizabeth Hamrick, 83, of 431 Old Boiling Springs Road, died Wednesday, Nov. 29, 2000, at Cleveland Regional Medical Center.
A native of Cleveland County, she was the daughter of the late Twitty Raymond and Minnie Alda Brooks Hamrick. She was a retired inspector from Universal Manufacturing. She was a member of Poplar Springs Baptist Church.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two brothers, John Hamrick and J.M. Hamrick.
She is survived by her husband of 60 years, James Marvin Hamrick of the home; a daughter and son-in-law, Elnora and Steve Eskridge of Shelby; two sons and daughters-in-law, Steve and Sandra Hamrick and Marvin and Theresa Hamrick, all of Shelby; six grandsons and a granddaughter-in-law, Sgt. Jeff and Marie Eskridge of Korea, Craig Hamrick, Matthew Hamrick, Joseph Hamrick, Kyle Hamrick and Timothy Cooper, all of Shelby; four granddaughters and two grandsons-in-law, Kim and Pat Litton of Boiling Springs, Penny and Robert Melton, Kristina Cooper and Amie Cooper, all of Shelby; a great-granddaughter, Kasey Eskridge of Boiling Springs; four great-grandsons, Tanner Eskridge, Jake Litton, Zach Melton and Nick Melton, all of Shelby; and a sister, Sarah Hamrick of Shelby.
The funeral will be tonight at 7 at Poplar Springs Baptist Church with Dr. James Richardson and the Rev. Clyde Buckner officiating.
The body will be placed in the church 30 minutes before the service.

C. Hughes Canipe
SHELBY - Mr. C. Hughes Canipe, 78, of White Oak Manor, formerly of Polkville, died Wednes-day, Nov. 29, 2000, at White Oak Manor.
Born March 18, 1922, in Ruther-ford County, he was the son of the late Jasper Suson and Leila Smith Canipe. He retired from Cleveland Mills in Lawndale after 45 years of service. He was a member of Polkville Baptist Church where he attended the Adult Sunday School Class and was a former deacon. He was a caretaker for Palm Tree United Methodist Church for 14 years.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a daughter, Joann Canipe; a brother, Marvin Canipe; and three sisters, Iris Cook, Vassie Johnson, and Vergie Bridges.
He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Buna McNeilly Canipe of Polkville; three sons and daughters-in-law, Deward and Gail Canipe of Shelby, Bill and Glenda Canipe of Lawndale and Larry and Mary Canipe of Polkville; a daughter and son-in-law, Jan and Mark Lunsford of Asheville; a brother, Edley Canipe of Lattimore; two sisters, Blanche Towery of Casar and Irene Johnson of Shelby; seven grandchildren, Andy Canipe, Scott Canipe, Amy Mittelman, Billy Canipe, Kimberly Canipe, Suzanne Canipe and Elliot Lunsford; five great-grandchildren, Grayson Canipe, Will Canipe, Zachary Canipe, Kaitlyn Canipe and Thomas Mittelman.
The funeral will be Friday at 10 a.m. at Polkville Baptist Church with the Revs. Alton Martin and Michael Shumate officiating.

Douglas Jr. of Shelby, Michael Willis of Forest City and Davis Willis of Bessemer City; one daughter, Pamela Lockhart of Shelby; three sisters, Elder Ruth Hambrick of Blacksburg, S.C., Vera White of Columbia, S.C. and Martha Coleman of Shelby; two brothers, James Franklin Pratt of New York City and Carl Edward Pratt of Forest City; one granddaughter, Sabretta Willis; four adopted grandchildren; and a special friend, Delois Ashworth of High Point.

LAWNDALE - Mr. Dewey Z. Brackett Jr., 68, of 1622 W. Stagecoach Trail, died Wednesday, Nov. 29, 2000, at Duke Medical Center.
Born March 6, 1932, in Cleveland County, he was the son of the late Dewey Zero Sr. and Eliza Green Luckadoo Brackett. He was former owner of Brackett's Service Station and a member of Polkville Baptist Church and Lawndale Masonic Lodge No. 486. He served in the Army during the Korean Conflict.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Charles Dewey Brackett.
He is survived by his wife, Ruth Carpenter Brackett of the home; a daughter and son-in-law, Doris and Brinson Clements of Savannah, Ga.; a sister, Betty Brackett Buff of Lawndale; a granddaughter, Adriane Brackett of Shelby; and a grandson, Jordan Brackett of Shelby.
