Ethel Roberts
SHELBY - Ethel House Roberts, 93, formerly of 115 Brookhill Road, died Monday, Nov. 20, 2000, at Century Care Center.
Born in Winder, Ga., she moved to Shelby in 1924.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Herman W. Roberts; her parents, Samuel Bailey Edward House and Minervia Maughon House, six sisters and a brother.
She was a member for 73 years of Central United Methodist Church. She served as a Brownie and Girl Scout leader and a Sunday school teacher. She was a member of the Golden Links Class and sang in the Chancel Choir for 20 years. She was a past member of the Shelby Woman's Club and Shelby Garden Club.
She is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Betty and Thomas Adams; a companion, Token Adams; two stepgrandchildren, Emily Adams of Shelby, and Claire Adams and her daughter Kaylyn of Rutherfordton; two sisters-in-law, Helen Roberts of Patterson Springs and Eva House of Crouse; and nieces and nephews.
A graveside service will be held 11 a.m. Wednesday in Sunset Cemetery, with Dr. Joseph Reeves officiating.
The family will receive friends tonight from 5 to 6:30 at Cecil M. Burton Funeral Home.

Jewell Luckadoo
SHELBY - Mrs. Jewell Lail Moss Luckadoo, 74, of 212 Sunrise Circle, died Monday, Nov. 20, 2000, at her home.
A native of Hickory, she was a daughter of the late Marley McCoy and Hazel Elmore Lail. She was a homemaker and a member of Southern Baptist Church in Ruth.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband, John H. Moss; her second husband, Clevie C. Luckadoo Sr.; and a son-in-law, David Mooney.
She is survived by her stepmother, Virginia Lail Beal of Shelby; two daughters and a son-in-law, Yavonne and Terry Buckner of Forest City and Cynthia Mooney of Glen Alpine; a stepdaughter and her husband, Kay and Grayson Ward of Shelby; three stepsons and their wives, Clevie Jr. and Shirley Luckadoo and Wesley and Brenda Luckadoo, all of Charlotte, and David and Terri Luckadoo of Shelby; a stepdaughter, Lauren Luckadoo of Shelby; two granddaughters and their husbands, Chris and Derrick Park of Forest City and Amy and Terry Shull of Morganton; a grandson and his wife, Doug and Janet Buckner of Rutherfordton; six great-grandchildren, Brent Park, Brad Park, Ben Park, Kelsey Buckner, Nicole Shull and Mitchell Shull; two sisters, Marjorie Newton of Shelby and Marlie Dean Warlick of Lawndale; and two brothers, Keith Lail and Tim Lail, both of Shelby.
The funeral will be Wednesday at 2 p.m. at Southern Baptist Church, Ruth, with the Revs. John Perry and Michael Beshears officiating. The body will be placed in the church 30 minutes before the service. Burial will be at the church cemetery.
The family will receive friends tonight from 6:30 to 8:30 at Cleveland Funeral Services and at other times at the home.

Perry McDaniel
BOILING SPRINGS - Mr. Perry McDaniel, 78, of 132 Green Ave., died Monday, Nov. 20, 2000, at Hospice at Wendover.
A native of Rutherford County, he was the son of the late Patience McDaniel. He worked as a self-employed carpenter and painter. He was a member of Boiling Springs Baptist Church and served two years in the National Guard.
He is survived by his wife, Polly Brooks McDaniel of the home; three sons and daughters-in-law, David Perry and Kay McDaniel of LaGrange, Ga., Frosty and Faye McDaniel of Lewes, Del., and Jerry and Lisa McDaniel of Boiling Springs; a daughter and son-in-law, Revonda and Kenneth Humphries of Boiling Springs; 11 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.
The funeral is 7:30 tonight at Boiling Springs Baptist Church, with the Rev. Keith Dixon officiating. A graveside service will be held Wednesday at 11 a.m. at Cleveland Memorial Park.
The family will receive friends at the church tonight from 6 to 7:30.

Pauline Henson
ROCK HILL, S.C. - Mrs. Pauline Leigh Henson, 86, of 459 Mimosa Road, formerly of Shelby, died Monday, Nov. 20, 2000, at Piedmont Medical Center.
She was a daughter of the late David William Leigh and Clara Clay Lemmons. She retired from Springs Industries. She belonged to Catawba Baptist Church, where she was a member of the Jeanette Walker Sunday School Class.
She is survived by her husband, Brice Franklin Henson of the home; a son, Marvin F. Henson of Rock Hill; a daughter, Linda H. Williams of Rock Hill; two sisters, Katherine Blanton of Shelby and Edna McIntyre of Cherryville; three grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
The funeral will be Wednesday at 3 p.m. at Patterson Springs Baptist Church, with the Rev. Steve Waters and Dr. Tommy Patterson officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
The family will receive friends tonight from 5 to 7 at Greene Funeral Home Northwest Chapel in Rock Hill.

KINGS MOUNTAIN - Mrs. Mary Lee Bridgeman, 72, of 150 Dunes Drive, died Sunday, Nov. 19, 2000, at White Oak Manor in Kings Mountain.
The funeral will be Wednesday at 11 a.m. at Temple Baptist Church, with the Rev. Robert Haynes officiating. Burial will be at Mountain Rest Cemetery.

Margaret Jolly
SHELBY - Ms. Margaret A. Jolly, 85, of 927 Toms St., died Sunday, Nov. 19, 2000, at Cleveland Regional Medical Center.
A native of Greenville County, S.C., she was the daughter of the late A.H. and Irene Martin Jolly. She retired from Esther Mill as an inspector. She was a member of Eastside Baptist Church and Eastern Star Shelby Chapter #110.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two brothers, H.B. Jolly and Thomas E. Jolly.
She is survived by three brothers and sisters-in-law, Harvey F. and Cynthia Jolly and Jack P. and Doris Jolly, all of Charlotte, and Bobby R. and Louise Jolly of Shelby; a sister-in-law, Jane P. Jolly of Shelby; and a number of nieces and nephews.
The funeral will be Wednesday at 2 p.m. at Eastside Baptist Church, with Dr. Harold Fite officiating. The body will be placed in the church 30 minutes before the service. Burial will be at Sunset Cemetery with Eastern Star rites.

MOORESBORO - Mr. Richard Wayne Terry, 32, of 122 Terry Drive, died Saturday, Nov. 18, 2000, at Cleveland Regional Medical Center.
A native of Cleveland County, he was a son of Charles and Linda White Terry of the home. He was employed by Ed's Pallet World.
In addition to his parents, he is survived by a brother, Rodney Terry of Mooresboro, and a sister, Robin Edwards of Mooresboro.
No formal services will be held.

MOORESBORO - Mrs. Ruby Mae Carter Greene, 82, of 469 James Road, died Sunday, Nov. 19, 2000, at her home.
A native of Cleveland County, she was the daughter of the late Lee J. and Linda Sigmon Carter. She was a homemaker and a member of Campfield Memorial Baptist Church.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Yates Greene.
She is survived by three daughters, Shirley G. Campbell, Rachel G. Ervin and Ruby G. Raines; six grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
The funeral will be Wednesday at 2 p.m. in the chapel of the McKinney-Landreth Funeral Home, with the Revs. Joey Cantrell, Eugene Passmore and Thomas Ervin Sr. officiating. Burial will be at Campfield Memorial Baptist Church cemetery.

Era Fortenberry
SHELBY - Mrs. Era Mae Wright Wood Fortenberry, 78, of 401 North Morgan St., died Sunday, Nov. 19, 2000, at White Oak Manor in Shelby.
Born Jan. 29, 1922, in Cleveland County, she was a daughter of the late Fred and Daisy Bowen Wright and the stepdaughter of the late Minnie Wright. She retired from Buffalo Mill Co. and belonged to Allen Memorial Baptist Church, where she was an active member and had held several church offices.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husbands, James Frank Wood and Forrest Fortenberry; a daughter, Kay Frances Wood; sisters, Geneva Lookadoo and Mamie Biggerstaff; and brothers, Hoyle Davis and Floyd Davis.
She is survived by a son, James Wood of Shelby; two daughters and sons-in-law, Buren and Elizabeth Wood Meade of Shelby and Bobby and Norma Wood Collins of Polkville; a brother, Edwin Davis of Hickory; two sisters, Virginia Herman and Dennie Heafner of Hickory; six grandchildren, Chris Meade, Tracy Burton, David Queen, Warren Smith, Joy Jenkins and Kim Piercy; and five great-grandchildren.
The funeral is today at 2 p.m. at Allen Memorial Baptist Church, with the Revs. Andy Meade, Norris Willis and Tim Lawery officiating. The body will be placed in the church 30 minutes before the service. Burial will be at Buffalo Baptist Church cemetery.
The family received friends Monday, and will be at the home of a daughter, 3531 Plainfield Drive, Shelby.
