Forrest Cash
LINCOLNTON - Mr. Forrest William "Tobe" Cash, 76, of 1877 Noles Circle, died Saturday, Dec. 2, 2000.
Born July 18, 1924, in Lincoln County, he was the son of the late Talmer and Mae Finger Cash. He was a retired auto parts salesman with NAPA in Lincolnton and also worked in the parts room at Carolina Freight Carriers. He was a Navy veteran, serving in World War II. He was a member of the Lincoln County Life Saving Crew, and he served as a North 321 volunteer fireman and an auxiliary deputy sheriff in Lincoln County. He was a rock hound and conducted classes on the subject in the Lincoln County Schools for many years.
He is survived by his wife, Dorothy Martin Cash of the home; three daughters, Sandy Rowland, Brenda Fox and Debbie Cash, all of Vale; two brothers, Jerry Cash of North Myrtle Beach, S.C., and Tommy Cash of Lincolnton; three sisters, Dorothy Cook and Barbara Kirkendial, both of Shelby, and Evelyn Carpenter of Lincolnton; two grandchildren, Angela Burgess of Granite Falls and Brian Fox of Troutdale, Ore.; three great-grandchildren, Lorin Burgess and Brenna Burgess, both of Granite Falls, and Emma Fox of Portland, Ore.
The funeral will be Tuesday at 2 p.m. at McKendree United Methodist Church, with the Revs. Deval Mason, Rick Crouse and Randy Cash officiating. Burial will follow at the church cemetery.
The family will receive friends tonight from 7 to 9 at Warlick Funeral Home.

James White
NEBO - Mr. James Clayton White, 87, died Sunday, Dec. 3, 2000, at McDowell Nursing Home.
Born April 16, 1913, in Cleveland County, he was the son of the late Rufus Claton and Mae Ray White. He was retired as a chair caner with Hickory Chair.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his son, Junior Albert White; a daughter, Barbara White; three brothers; and one sister.
He is survived by three sons, Rufus White and Jerry White, both of Morganton, and Don White of Nebo; three daughters, Betty Brown, Martha Webb and Mildred Sheet, all of Morganton; 12 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren and 2 great-great-grandchildren.
The funeral will be Tuesday at 2 p.m. in the chapel of Stamey Funeral Home, with the Rev. Jimmy Harmon officiating. Burial will follow at Mount Zion Baptist Church.
The family will receive friends tonight from 7 to 8:30 at Stamey Funeral Home.
Lois Heffner
ANDERSON, S.C. - Mrs. Lois McFarland Heffner, 86, of 106 Lark Lane, died Friday, Dec. 1, 2000, at the home of her daughter, Patricia H. Cashwell, of 7 Lake Village Drive, Durham.
Born on October 26, 1914, in Caroleen, she was the daughter of the late Thomas Shotwell and Mary Etta Jordan McFarland. She spent her early years in Shelby and had lived in Anderson for 40 years. She was a member of Mount Tabor Baptist Church.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Charles Ellsworth Heffner.
She is survived by her daughter; a son and a daughter-in-law, Charles Wayne and Kitty Heffner of Merced, Calif.; six grandchildren and spouses, Mike Heffner, Scott Heffner and Mark Heffner of Merced, Calif., Harry F. III and Holly Cashwell of Suwanee, Ga., Kent H. and Karyl Cashwell of Cary, and Kristin C. and Bill Riggs of Durham; and five great-grandchildren, Caroline Cashwell and Harry Cashwell IV of Suwanee, Sarah Cashwell and Chance Cashwell of Cary, and Haley Ashton Riggs of Durham.
The funeral will be Tuesday at 11 a.m. at Mount Tabor Baptist Church with the Rev. Joe Whisnant officiating.
The body will be placed at the church 30 minutes before the service.
Burial will follow at Forest Lawn Memorial Park.
The family will receive friends tonight from 7 to 9 at McDougald Funeral Home and at other times at the home.

VERMILLION, OHIO - Mrs. Sandra Lynn Lowery Cobb, 63, of Vermillion, Ohio, and formerly of Rutherford County, died Saturday, Dec. 2, 2000, at Specialty Hospital in Lorain, Ohio.
The funeral will be 7 p.m. today at Lakeview Baptist Church in Vermillion.
The family will receive friends today from 2 to 4 p.m. at Riddle Funeral Home and from 6 p.m. until the service.
Local funeral services will be 6:30 p.m. Wednesday at Adaville Baptist Church in Spindale, with the Rev. James Daves officiating. Burial will be 11 a.m. Thursday at the church cemetery.

SPINDALE - Mrs. Emma Hudgins Hughes, 83, of 402 Westwood Street, died Sunday, Dec. 3, 2000, at Rutherford Hospital.
The funeral will be Tuesday at 11 a.m. at Spencer Baptist Church, with the Revs. Bruce Caldwell and Malone Thomason and Dr. Don Christian officiating.

Kirsten Hewitt
RALEIGH - Ms. Kirsten Elizabeth Hewitt, 32, of Raleigh, died Sunday, Dec. 3, 2000, at her home.
Born in Boulder, Colo., on July 16, 1968, she was the daughter of Anne Hewitt of Chapel Hill and Joe A. Hewitt and Susan K. Nutter of Durham. She was a psychiatric social worker at Dorethea Dix Hospital. She attended the University of North Carolina at Wilmington and graduated from North Carolina State University. She earned a master's degree in social work from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.
In addition to her parents, she is survived by a brother, Stephen A. Hewitt of Chapel Hill; her grandmother, Betty Hewitt of Shelby; her step-grandmother, Dorothy Nutter of East Bridgewater, Mass.; four aunts and three uncles, Ingrid and Detlef Kurzrock of Lubeck, Germany, Mary and Andy Goodwin and Nancy Walker of Shelby and Deborah Nutter and Alan Rutan of Westwood, Mass; and seven cousins.
A memorial service will be Thursday at 2 p.m. at University United Methodist Church, 150 E. Franklin St., Chapel Hill, with the Revs. Ronald Gonia and William Gattis officiating.
Burial will be private.
The family will receive friends after the service at the church.

Joe Plumley
GAFFNEY, S.C. - Mr. Joe Barton Plumley, 66, of 227 Ross Hill Road, died Monday, Dec. 4, 2000, at Upstate Carolina Medical Center.
A native of Greenville, S.C., he was the son of the late Klugh B. and Maggie U. Phillips Plumley. He was retired from the Air Force as a master sergeant after 22 years of service. He taught air conditioning and refrigeration at Cherokee Area Vocational School and was a member of Southside Baptist Church.
He is survived by two daughters, Kathy Plumley Ensley of Taylors, S.C., and Kim Allison of Greenville; a brother, Klugh "Bryan" Plumley of Kings Mountain; three sisters, Ann Carroll of Kings Mountain, Etta Green of Catawba Heights and Margaret Philman of Calabash; and two stepgranddaughters.
The funeral will be today at 11 in the chapel of Shuford-Hatcher Funeral Home, with Dr. Paul M. Welch officiating.
Burial will be at Frederick Memorial Gardens with a military honor guard.
The family received friends Tuesday at the funeral home and will receive friends at the home of Elizabeth Plumley.
Julius Causby
CHERRYVILLE - Mr. Julius "Nesby" Causby, 83, of Century Care of Cherryville, died Monday, Dec. 4, 2000, at Cleveland Regional Medical Center.
A native of Cleveland County, he was the son of Sally Porter Causby and the late Ed Causby. He was retired from Esther Mill and a member of the Army National Guard.
In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by his wife, Darkis Verdie Causby.
He is survived by his son and daughter-in-law, Larry and Judith Causby of Shelby; three brothers, Joe Causby, Sam Causby and Eddie Ray Causby of Shelby; four sisters, Wanda Lewis, Gertrude Petty and Margaret Lee of Shelby and Emma Sue Henderson of Kings Mountain; seven grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.
A graveside service will be today at 1 p.m. at Sunset Cemetery, with the Rev. Bill Pheagin officiating.
The family will receive friends today from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at Lutz-Austell Funeral Home.

FOREST CITY - Mrs. Andeena M. Scruggs, 51, of 198 Big Springs Ave., died Monday, Dec. 4, 2000, at her home.
A native of Cleveland County, she was the daughter of Grover C. McCurry of Arnoldsville, Ga., and Dorothy Arrowood McEntyre of Mooresboro and the stepdaughter of Joel McEntyre of Mooresboro. She was a homemaker and provided a ministry for the homeless and needy.
In addition to her parents, she is survived by her husband, Randy Scruggs of Forest City; a son, James Gregory Francis of Spindale; a daughter, Georgie DeAngelia Francis of Austin, Texas; two brothers, Dale McCurry of Athens, Ga., and Tim McCurry of Ontario, Canada; and three grandchildren.
The funeral will be Thursday at 2 p.m. in the chapel of McMahan's Funeral Home, Rutherfordton, with the Revs. Bob Sellers, Fred Smotherman and Jack Crain officiating.
Burial will be at Shingle Hollow Congregational Holiness Church Cemetery.

SHELBY - Mrs. Mary Jane Wyant Masters, 72, of Shelby, died Sunday, Dec. 3, 2000, at Cleveland Regional Medical Center.
A native of Westmoreland County, she was the daughter of the late Lillian Cleave Wyant and Arnold Wyant. She was an office manager for West Warren Apartments and a member of Kings Mountain Church of the Nazarene.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a brother, John Wyant, and a grandchild, Timothy Reidell.
She is survived by her husband, Gordon Melville Masters; five sons, James Carney of North Hollywood, Calif., John Carney of Palm City, Fla., Joel Carney of New Florence, Pa., Tom Masters of Spartanburg, S.C., and John Masters of Loflin, Fla.; six daughters, Joan Reidell of Dilltown, Pa., Janet Carney of Shelby, Jean Blakesley of Port St. Lucie, Fla., Cyndie James and Linda Arledge of Columbus and Mary Masters of St. Petersburg, Fla.; seven grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
The funeral will be Thursday at 11 a.m. at Kings Mountain Church of the Nazarene, with the Rev. Mike Daughrity officiating.
