The funeral will be Saturday at 2 p.m. at Macedonia Baptist Church with the Revs. David Philbeck and Olin Byrum officiating. Burial will follow at Mountain Rest Cemetery.
The family will receive friends tonight from 7 to 8:30 at Harris Funeral Home and other times at the home of the daughter, Becky White, 206 Fulton Drive, Kings Mountain.

THOMASVILLE - Mrs. Ellen Mae Denton Pruitt, 87, of 200 South Road, No. 12, died Wednesday, Sept. 1, 1999, at Beverly Health Care Center.
The funeral will be Saturday at 2 p.m. at the chapel at J.C. Green and Sons Funeral Home with the Rev. Danny McMahan officiating.
The family will receive friends tonight from 7 to 9 at the funeral home and other times at the residence.

Ocie Moore
FOREST CITY - Mrs. Ocie Adeline Moore, 90, died Tuesday, Aug. 31, 1999.
The funeral will be Sunday at 2 p.m. at Pleasant Grove United Methodist Church with the Rev. Bob Clinard officiating.
The family will receive friends Saturday from 6 to 8 p.m. at Padgett and King Mortuary.

SHELBY - Mrs. Bertha Scruggs of 1415 Cabaniss Road died Friday, Sept. 3, 1999, at Cleveland Regional Medical Center.
Funeral arrangements are incomplete and will be announced by Cleveland Funeral Services.

SHELBY - Mr. Paul W. Vogel of 902 Duke St., died Friday, Sept. 3, 1999, at Duke University Hospital.
Funeral arrangements are incomplete and will be announced by Lutz-Austell Funeral Home.

Inez Hoppes
KINGS MOUNTAIN - Mrs. Inez Canipe Hoppes, 87, of 716 Sipes St., died Tuesday, Sept. 14, 1999, at White Oak Manor in Kings Mountain.
A native of Cleveland County, she was the daughter of the late John Thomas and Charlotte Lattimore Canipe. She was retired from J & C Dyeing Inc. She was a member of Union Baptist Church.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Max Benjamin Hoppes.
She is survived by three sons and daughters-in-law, Forrest and Linda Hoppes of Shelby, David and Brenda Hoppes of Boiling Springs and Scott and Merle Hoppes of Kings Mountain; three daughters and two sons-in-law, Sadie and Bob Ledford of Midland, Mary Jeane Hoppes of Polkville and Martha Deane and Nathan Williamson of Lincoln, Ala.; two sisters, Mary Mosteller of Longview and Evelyn Bridges of Shelby; 15 grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.
The funeral will be Thursday at 2 p.m. at Union Baptist Church with the Rev. Michael Shumate officiating. The body will be placed in the church 30 minutes before the service. Burial will follow at the church cemetery.
The family will receive friends tonight from 6 to 7:30 at Stamey Funeral Home.

Fredrick "Jabo" Robbs
KINGS MOUNTAIN - Mr. Fredrick Bernard "Jabo" Robbs, 29, of 129 Huntseat Lane, died Monday, Sept. 13, 1999, at Gaston Memorial Hospital in Gastonia.
A native of Cleveland County, he was born on Oct. 4, 1969, the son of Bishop Eugene Brooks and Diane Robbs of Shelby. He was employed at ABB Inc. and Quality Metals. He was a graduate of Crest High School and Western Carolina University. He played in the Shrine Bowl Game in Charlotte on Dec. 13, 1986.
In addition to his parents, he is survived by his stepmother, Shirley Brooks of Shelby; his grandparents, Joe and Betty Robbs, Odessa Robbs and John Brooks, all of Shelby; his great-grandmother, Victoria Hartgrove of Shelby; his wife, Tamaro Quenette Robbs of Shelby; six daughters, Tiffany Hartgrove, Temecia Robbs, Jamari Robbs, Jericka Ross, Shontaia Moore and Alexis Craig, all of Shelby; two sons, Tyreze Littlejohn and Jasmond Gust, both of Shelby; two brothers, Brian Brooks and Min. Blair Brooks, both of Shelby; one sister, Melinda Brooks of Shelby; one stepbrother, Chris Williams of Shelby; and many relatives and friends.
The funeral will be Friday at 3 p.m. at Ellis Chapel Baptist Church in Patterson Springs with Pastor W. B. Ellis officiating. Burial will follow at the church cemetery.
The family will receive friends Friday 30 minutes before the service at the church.

Ruth Horn
KINGS MOUNTAIN - Ms. Ruth Wells Horn, 50, of 609 Bell Road, died Sunday, Sept. 12, 1999, at Carolinas Medical Center.
A native of Cleveland County, she was the daughter of Marshall and Ethel Whetstine Wells of Kings Mountain. She was a member of Family Worship Center Church of God in Kings Mountain. She was employed by Ruppe Hosiery.
In addition to her parents, she is survived by one daughter and son-in-law, Julie Horn and Eric Hicks of Kings Mountain; two brothers, Steve Wells and Don Wells, both of Kings Mountain; two sisters, Vickie Wells of Kings Mountain and Elaine Walters of Shelby; and one grandchild, Erica Hicks.
The funeral will be today at 2 p.m. at Family Worship Center with the Rev. Roger Woodard officiating. Burial will follow at Mountain Rest Cemetery.
The family received friends Tuesday from 7 to 8:30 p.m. at Harris Funeral Home.
Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society, 201 W. Marion St., Shelby, N.C. 28150.

Susie Barber
KINGS MOUNTAIN - Mrs. Susie Taylor Moore Barber, 69, of 300 Fairview St., died Tuesday, Sept. 14, 1999, at Kings Mountain Hospital.
A native of Gaston County, she was the daughter of the late William Hunter and Dora Mae Hudson Taylor. She was a member of Midview Baptist Church in Kings Mountain. She was a homemaker.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, R. T. Moore; and two brothers, Charles Taylor and Doyt Taylor.
She is survived by her husband, Fred Barber of Kings Mountain; one son, Timothy Moore of Kings Mountain; one daughter and son-in-law, Christine Moore and John Faircloth of Earl; one brother, Hunter Leroy Taylor of Kings Mountain; two sisters, Addie Mae Reynolds of Bessemer City and Aileen McBride of Winston-Salem; and two grandchildren, Emily Rebecca Faircloth and Matthew Reuben Faircloth.
A graveside service will be Thursday at 3 p.m. at Antioch Baptist Church Cemetery with the Revs. Bob Hope and J.D. Adams officiating.
The family will receive friends tonight from 7 to 9 at Harris Funeral Home.

Odell Hutley
KINGSTOWN - Mr. Odell Hutley, 83, of 1806 Boyce Road, died Sunday, Sept. 12, 1999, at Century Care in Shelby.
The funeral will be Friday at 3 p.m. at Ramseur Baptist Church with the Revs. J.Q. Camp and Billy J. Ramseur officiating.
The family will receive friends Friday 30 minutes before the service at the church and other times at 1813 Petty Road in Shelby.
Mobley's Mortuary and Chapel is in charge of arrangements.

Linda Phillips
SHELBY - Ms. Linda Ann Dorsey Phillips, 34, of 310 Black St., died Saturday, Sept. 11, 1999, at her residence.
A native of Shelby, she was the daughter of Patricia Ann Mason Dorsey and the late Willie Dorsey. She was employed with PolyGram Inc. in Grover.
In addition to her mother, she is survived by her husband, Larry Phillips of Gaffney, S.C.; one sister, Willie Ann Mason of Shelby; one godson, Nigel Phillips of Gaffney; one niece, Precious Mason of Shelby; one cousin, Robin Dorsey of Shelby; and a friend, Jerimiah McDowell of Shelby.
The funeral will be Friday at 3 p.m. at Westside Praise and Worship Center with the Rev. Donagrant McCluney officiating. Burial will follow at Webb Memorial Lawns.
The family will receive friends Friday one hour before the service at the church.

Ida Anderson
SHELBY - Mrs. Ida Ruth Anderson, 78, of 1504 S. Morgan St., died Friday, Sept. 27, 1999, at her residence.
A native of Albany County, N.Y., she was born on July 27, 1921, the daughter of the late Ernest Richard and Elizabeth Heeb Reissig. She was a homemaker. She was a member of Ascension Lutheran Church.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Ernest Wallace Anderson, who died on December 28, 1982.
She is survived by two sons, James E. Anderson of Shelby and Robert C. Anderson of Zebulon; two daughters, Elizabeth Fuchs of Canton, Ohio, and Susan Ross of Bradenton, Fla.; and 13 grandchildren.
A memorial service will be Saturday at 2 p.m. at Ascension Lutheran Church with the Rev. David Lohr officiating.
Memorials may be made to The Life Enrichment Center, 1270 Fallston Road, Shelby, N.C. 28150.

Terry Ross
SPINDALE - Mr. Terry Lee Ross, 40, of 212 Prince St., died Sunday, Sept. 12, 1999, at Carolinas Medical Center in Charlotte.
He was an employee of Grindstaff's.
He is survived by his mother, Lillie Mae Ross Miller of Spindale; his father, Frank Smith of New York; three daughters, Robin Camp, Shynada Wilkie and Monica Logan, all of Forest City; one son, Orlanda Jackson; three brothers, Gary Lee Ross, Lawrence Ross and Toney Ross, all of Spindale; and one grandson.
The funeral will be Friday at 4 p.m. at New Zion Baptist Church in Spindale with the Rev. Donald Brown officiating. Burial will follow at the church cemetery.
The family will receive friends Friday one hour before the service at the church.

Bobby Durbin
GROVER - Mr. Bobby Junior Durbin, 42, of 3006 Blacksburg Road, died Tuesday, Sept. 14, 1999, at the Ticona plant at the KoSa site.
A native of York County, S.C., he was the son of Clarence Durbin of Shelby and Billie Huskey Durbin of Grover. He worked for Becon Construction as a pipe fitter. He attended T.W. Lovelace Memorial Church.
He was preceded in death by one brother, Allen Dwayne Durbin.
In addition to his parents, he is survived by his wife, Mary Camp Durbin of the home; one son, Bobby Christopher Durbin of Gaffney, S.C.; two stepsons, Noah Durham and Adam Brock, both of Grover; one brother, Billie Eric Durbin of Gastonia; one sister, Deborah Lynn Lowery of Clover, S.C.; and one grandson, Christopher Alexander Durbin of Gaffney.
A memorial service will be Friday at 3:30 p.m. at T.W. Lovelace Memorial Church with the Rev. Scott Caldwell officiating.
The family will receive friends tonight from 7 to 9 at Clay-Barnette Funeral Home and other times at 103 Knoll Drive, Earl.

VALE - Mrs. Alda Hoyle Houser, 87, of 6368 West Highway 27, died Tuesday, Sept. 14, 1999, at Lincoln Nursing Center.
The funeral will be Friday at 11 a.m. at Messiah United Methodist Church with the Rev. Charles McDowell officiating. Burial will follow at Zion United Methodist Church Cemetery in Lincolnton.

Odell Hutley
KINGSTOWN - Mr. Odell Hutley, 83, of 1806 Boyce Road, died Sunday, Sept. 12, 1999, at Century Care in Shelby.
A native of Lee County, S.C., he was born on April 8, 1916, the son of the late Oliver and Janie Newman Hutley.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by five brothers; two sisters; and two daughters, Mary Ruth Coates and Barbara Ann Ross.
He is survived by his wife, Lucille Hutley of Kingstown; one daughter, Jo Ann Dewport of Providence, R.I.; three sons and one daughter-in-law, William Hutley, Thomas and Patricia Hutley and James Ramseur, all of Shelby; 23 grandchildren; 59 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.
The funeral will be Friday at 3 p.m. at Ramseur Baptist Church with the Revs. J.Q. Camp and Billy J. Ramsuer officiating.
The family will receive friends Friday 30 minutes before the service at the church and other times at 1813 Petty Road, Kingstown.

Doyle Parker
CASAR - Mr. Doyle Alexander Parker, 72, died Friday, Sept. 17, 1999, at Cleveland Regional Medical Center.
Born in Cleveland County July 6, 1927, he was a son of the late Marvin Zero and Hester Canipe Parker. He served with the U.S. Army during World War II in the European Theater. He retired from Cleveland Mills and Cleveland County Solid Waster Center. He was a member of Pisgah Baptist Church.
He is survived by his wife, Jinnie Causby Parker; a son and daughter-in-law, Hugh Lee and Vicky Parker; a son, Ronnie Parker; a daughter, Dianne Parker, all of Casar; another daughter, Gail Williams of Cherryville; two brothers, Paul Parker and Gene Parker; a sister, Genell McKinney; and four grandchildren, David Parker, Justin Williams, Joey Williams, and Jason Parker.
The funeral will be Sunday at 2 p.m. at Pisgah Baptist Church, with the Rev. Chris Sanford officiating. The body will be placed in the church 30 minutes before the service. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
The family will receive friends tonight from 6:30 to 8 at Stamey Funeral Home in Fallston.

CHERRYVILLE - Mrs. Rosie Corrine Smith, 79, of 104 Moose St., died Friday, Sept. 17, 1999, at Cardinal Health Care in Lincolnton.
The funeral will be Sunday at 3 p.m. in Cone Memorial Chapel of Carpenter's Funeral Home, with the Revs. Jasper Keener and Jack Cooke officiating.
Burial will be in City Memorial Cemetery.

Alonzo Whitener
BALTIMORE - Mr. Alonzo Leeotis "Twig" Whitener, born Aug. 13, 1940, died Wednesday, Sept. 8, 1999, at Bon Secours Hospital in Baltimore, Md.
Memorial services were held Sept. 14 at the Fountain of Life Apostolic Church in Baltimore.
The Cremation Society of Maryland was in charge of arrangements.
