DENVER, N.C. - Mrs. Sarah Kate Sellers Brown, 88, of 7981 Optimist Club Road, formerly of Belmont, died Friday, Sept. 17, 1999, at Lake Wood Care in Denver.
The funeral will be today at 4 p.m. in Cone Memorial Chapel of Carpenter's Funeral Home in Cherryville, with the Rev. H. L. Talbert officiating. Burial will be at Bess Chapel United Methodist Church Cemetery, Cherryville.
The family will receive friends today at the funeral home one hour before the service.
Esther Dover SHELBY - Mrs. Esther Deaton Dover, 83, of 1101 N. Morgan St., died Friday, Sept. 17, 1999, at Cleveland Regional Medical Center.
Born in Gainesville, Ga., she was a daughter of the late William and Julia Frances Rowland Deaton. She was a homemaker.
She was preceded in death by her husband, James Rathy Dover; seven brothers, Claude Deaton, Minor Deaton, Vester Deaton, John Deaton, Fletcher Deaton, Carl Deaton and Hubert Deaton; and two sisters, Cora Wallace and Dora Hanes.
Survivors include three sons and daughters-in-law, Lonnie and Sue Dover and Randy and Teressa Dover of Bay St. Louis, Miss., and Jerry and Judy Dover of Boiling Springs; five daughters and three sons-in-law, Patricia Jones of Charlotte, Betty and Wade Davis of Kings Mountain, Freida and Jack Feigel and Kathy Auton of Bay St. Louis, and Kay and Charles Neisler of Kings Mountain; a sister, Mae Moore of Charlotte; 18 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.
The funeral will be Monday at 2 p.m. in the chapel of Clay-Barnette Funeral Home, with the Rev. Mike Frazier officiating. Burial will be in Poplar Springs Baptist Church Cemetery.
The family will receive friends tonight from 7 to 9 at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to Life Enrichment Center Alzheimer's Unit, 1270 Fallston Road, Shelby, N.C. 28150.

MOORESBORO - Mr. Buddy Ray Humphries, 57, of 432 Old Highway 221-A, died Saturday, Sept. 18, 1999, at his home.
He was a native of Rutherford County, a son of the late Archie and Mary Helen Beason Humphries. He was employed with ABB Combustion Engineering and attended Gaffney Freewill Baptist Church.
He is survived by his wife, Barbara Radford Humphries of the home; one son, Johnny Humphries of Mooresboro; three daughters, Renee Lowery of Forest City, and Peyton Beheler and Sophia Greene of Mooresboro; three brothers, Dan Humphries of Huntersville, Archie Humphries Jr. of Mooresboro and Larry Humphries of Boiling Springs; two sisters, Joan Harris of Bostic and Sara Lou Wright of Mooresboro; and six grandchildren.
The funeral will be Tuesday at 2 p.m. at McKinney-Landreth Funeral Home in Cliffside, with the Rev. Jim Miller officiating. Burial will be in Mount Pleasant Baptist Church Cemetery.
The family will receive friends Monday night from 7 to 9 at the funeral home.

MOORESBORO - Mrs. Sarah Cromer Walker Stacey, 67, of 116 Ospray Lane, died Saturday, Sept. 18, 1999, at Hospice at Wendover.
She was a native of Rutherford County, a daughter of the late James Robert and Lois Tessnear Cromer. She was a retired plant technician with Southern Bell and was a member of the Episcopal Church of the Redeemer in Shelby. She was first married to the late David Clark Walker.
She is survived by her husband, Samuel C. Stacey of the home; one stepson, Bruce Stacey of New Ellenton, S.C.; two stepdaughters, Linda Stacey Hill of New Ellenton and Mary Jane Walker of Charlotte; three brothers, R.T. Cromer and Joe Cromer of Mooresboro and Bill Walker of Orange Park, Fla.; one sister, Dorthy Roberson of Mooresboro; and four step-grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held Monday at 11 a.m. at the Episcopal Church of the Redeemer, with Father Gene McDowell officiating. Burial will be in Cleveland Memorial Park.

SHELBY - Mrs. Mary "Willie" Marie Campbell Mathis Bridges, 81, of 3756 W. Dixon Blvd., died Sunday, Sept. 19, 1999, at her residence.
A native of Cleveland County, she was the daughter of the late George and Sarah Fortenberry Campbell. She was retired from Shelby Convalescent where she worked as a CNA. She was a member of Pleasant Ridge Baptist Church.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 64 years, Arthur Mathis Sr.; one son, Arthur Mathis Jr.; one daughter, Anderson Davis; one granddaughter, Wanda Davis; one grandson, Michael Davis; one son-in-law, Earl Davis; one sister, Hazel Foster; and five brothers, Guy Campbell, Everette Campbell, Dave Campbell, John Campbell and Grady Campbell.
She is survived by one son and daughter-in-law, Walter and Mary Mathis of Ellenboro; two daughters and sons-in-law, Joann Davis and Billy Davis, both of Lattimore and Martha and John Fredell of Shelby; eight grandchildren, Bobby Mathis, Barbara and Freddie Bryant and Anita and Don Ledford, all of Boiling Springs, Danny and Susan Davis of Toluca, Lisa and Randy Cogdell, Ricky Davis, Shenan and Andrew McSwain and John Fredell Jr. and his fiancee Brandy Cogdell, all of Lattimore; and seven great-grandchildren, Barry Bryant of Boiling Springs, Danny Ross Davis of Toluca, Mindy Cogdell, Daniel Davis, Melania Cogdell, Tyler Fredell McSwain and Catelyn McSwain, all of Lattimore.

She is survived by one son and daughter-in-law, James and Page Sherer of Shelby; two daughters and one son-in-law, Ann Mauney of Cartersville, Ga., and Julia and Herb Ellis of Mount Pleasant, S.C.; one sister and brother-in-law, Ruth and Thomas E. Holmes of Charlotte; eight grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.

CLOVER, S.C. - Mr. William Franklin McAllister, 64, of 301 Sunset Drive, died Sunday, Sept. 19, 1999, at his residence.
A native of Cleveland County, he was the son of the late C.D. and Annie Mae McNeely McAllister. He was a retired industrial carpenter. He was a former member of Zoar Baptist Church and an Air Force veteran of the Korean War.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Charles McAllister Jr. and Paul Dean McAllister.
He is survived by one son; one daughter; and one grandchild; five brothers, George P. McAllister of Earl, Thomas R. McAllister, John E. McAllister, Clyde Ray McAllister and Bobby D. McAllister, all of Shelby; and three sisters, Nellie Powell and Betty Davis, both of Shelby and Ruby Harper of Clover.

He is survived by his wife, Doris Jeanette Reece Moore of the home; one daughter, Barbara Sides of the home; one brother, Reece Moore of Shelby; and five sisters, Alice Lewis of Fletcher, June Dills of Cleveland, Ga., Reba Wilson, Essie Williams and Kay Kent, all of Asheville.
