Geneva Jimson
KINGS MOUNTAIN - Mrs. Geneva C. Jimson, 77, of 326 Compact School Road, died Friday, March 2, 2001, at Kings Mountain Hospital.
Born in Cleveland County, she was a daughter of the late Will and Lugene "Duckey" Camp. She retired from Central School cafeteria. She belonged to Long Branch First Baptist Church in Grover, where she sang in the gospel and hymn choirs and was a member of the Mary Bell Missionary Circle, the Deaconess Board and was a Mother of the Church. She was a member of Electra Chapter 12, Order of the Eastern Star, and was president of the Peace Choir.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Joe T. Jimson; two brothers, Theodore Camp and Jack P. Camp; two sisters, Maggie Peterson and Hanley Camp; and a son-in-law, Larry Crocker.
She is survived by two sons and daughters-in-law, Samuel W. and Clara Jimson of Gastonia and Joe T. and Priscilla Jimson of Kings Mountain; three daughters and a son-in-law, Josephine and Robert Marable, Ella Mae Leach and Gwendolyn Crocker, all of Kings Mountain; a sister, Ophella Camp of Grover; three sisters-in-law, Lottie Ross, Laimae Wilson and Sallie Chamber; 32 grandchildren, 63 great-grandchildren, 12 great-great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
The funeral will be Tuesday at 3 p.m. at Long Branch First Baptist Church, with the Rev. Larry Dixon officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
The family will receive friends at the church one hour before the service.
J.W. Gill & Sons Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Lena Goforth
KINGS MOUNTAIN - Mrs. Lena Welch Goforth, 87, of White Oak Manor, died Saturday, March 3, 2001, at White Oak Manor.
A native of Cleveland County, she was the retired owner and hairdresser of Lena's Beauty Shop. She was also a member of Shiloh Presbyterian Church in Grover.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Preston Goforth.
She is survived by two sons, Ray C. Goforth of Greenwood, S.C., and Dr. Cobie Dwight Goforth of West Palm Beach, Fla.; a grandson and his wife, Donnie and Robin Goforth of Greenwood; a granddaughter and her husband, Susanne and Bobby Smith of Columbia, S.C.; a great-granddaughter, Amanda Smith of Columbia; and a great-grandson, Preston Goforth of Greenwood.
The service will be Monday at 2 p.m. at Shiloh Presbyterian Church in Grover with Dr. Nancy Mugford officiating.
Visitation will be at the church immediately following the service.
Private burial will be in Grover Cemetery.
The family requests that memorials be made to Shiloh Presbyterian Church, 307 Cleveland Ave., Grover, NC 28073.
Cleveland Funeral Services is in charge of arrangements.

Eleanor Lee
SHELBY - Ms. Eleanor LaVonne Logan Lee, 50, of 305 Willow Lane, died Saturday, March 3, 2001, at Hospice of Cleveland County.
Arrangements are incomplete and will be announced by Enloe Mortuary.

Annie Thompson
RALEIGH - Mrs. Annie Lillian Thompson, 78, of Butler Boulevard, died Friday, March 2, 2001, at Wake Medical Center in Raleigh.
She and her husband owned and operated Baby Diaper Service of Raleigh. After retirement they were active in the Raleigh Flea Market Mall.
She was preceded in death by a son, Tommy Thompson.
She is survived by her husband of 65 years, Woodrow "Woody" Thompson; two daughters and two sons-in-law, June T. and Kenneth Dills of Durham and Patty T. and George McDonald of Apex; three sons and three daughters-in-law, Bob and Marion Thompson of Texas, Donnie and Pam Thompson of Wendell and David and Pat Thompson of Shelby; eight grandchildren; and seven great grandchildren.
A memorial service will be Monday at 2 p.m. in the chapel of Apex Funeral Home with the Rev. Craig Troutman officiating.
The family will receive friends an hour before the service at the funeral home.
Memorials may be made to Wake Medical Center Heart Association, 3000 New Bern Ave., Raleigh, NC 27610.

Ellis Martin
LAWNDALE - Mr. Ellis Martin, 76, of 802 Sugar Hill Road, died Thursday, March 1, 2001, at Cleveland Pines Nursing Center.
A native of Cleveland County, he was born Feb. 22, 1925, the son of the late David "Dave" and Blumo Doris Lewis Martin. He retired from J.P. Stevens in Shelby and later worked for Sherman Textiles in Lincolnton. He was a member of Plains View Baptist Church where he was a former deacon, and a member of Disabled American Veterans. He served in the Army during World War II in the Pacific Theater and received two purple hearts.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Thurman Reed Martin and J.T. Martin.
He is survived by his wife, Dorothy Shuford Martin of the home; one daughter and one son-in-law, Carolyn and Don Dillingham of Grover; one sister, Mae Lena Brittain of Lawndale; two granddaughters, Kimberly Cloyd and her husband, Ray, of Gastonia and Rhonda Benfield and her husband, Chris, of Lawndale; one great-granddaughter, Rebecca Benfield; and two great-grandsons, Joshua Cloyd and Matthew Cloyd.
The funeral will be Sunday at 2 p.m. at Plains View Baptist Church with the Revs. Bill Ewing and Charles "Buddy" Freeman. The body will be placed in the church 30 minutes before the service. Burial will be in Rose Hill Memorial Park.
The family will receive friends tonight from 6:30 to 8 at Stamey Funeral Home.
Memorials may be made to Plains View Baptist Church, 1413 East Stagecoach Trail, Lawndale, NC 28090; or to American Diabetes Association, North Carolina Affiliate Inc., 3109 Poplarwood Court, Suite 125, Raleigh, NC 27604-1043.

Leo Cobb
BLACKSBURG, S.C. - Mr. Leo Anderson "Bill" Cobb, 74, of 542 Bear Creek Road, died Tuesday, Feb. 27, 2001, at his home.
A memorial service will be held at a later date.
The family members will be at their respective homes.

FOREST CITY - Mrs. Rosa Mae Robertson Bennett, 88, died Friday, March 2, 2001, at Colonial Manor Health Care in Rutherfordton.

CHERRYVILLE - Mrs. Helen Gehring Blake, 81, of 111 Harrelson Road, formerly of 505 Melville Road, died Thursday, March 1, 2001, at Carolina Care Center.
The funeral will be Sunday at 3 p.m. at First Presbyterian Church with Dr. Billy Lowe officiating. Burial will be in City Memorial Cemetery. The body will be placed in the church 30 minutes before the service.
The family will receive friends tonight from 7 to 8:30 at Carpenter's Funeral Home and at other times at the home of her daughter, Betty Thomas, 205 Carolina Drive in Cherryville.

Clara Allen
ELLENBORO - Mrs. Clara Melton Allen, 74, of 1178 Old Highway 74, died Friday, March 2, 2001, at Cleveland Regional Medical Center.
A native of Rutherford County, she was the daughter of the late A.B. and Katie Crawley Nanney. She was a sewing machine operator and worked in child care. She was a member of Concord Community Club and Concord Baptist Church.
In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her first husband, Howard Melton; and her second husband, Champ Allen Sr.
She is survived by two sons, Jack Melton and Joey Melton, both of Ellenboro; two daughters, Dianne Pippin of Spindale and Gail Parton of Rutherfordton; three stepsons, Ronnie Alen of Bostic, Bobby Ray Allen of Boiling Springs and Champ Allen Jr. of Rutherfordton; four stepdaughters, Virginia Mathis of Bostic, April Page of Blacksburg, Va., Sherry Allen of Ellenboro and Penny Jones of Forest City; nine grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
The funeral will be Sunday at 3 p.m. at Concord Baptist Church with the Revs. Chris Masters and Ben Parton officiating. Burial will be in the Bethel Baptist Church Cemetery.
The family will receive friends Sunday from 1:30 to 2:45 p.m. at the church.
McKinney-Landreth Funeral Home, Cliffside, is in charge of arrangements.

MAIDEN - Mr. Ricky Matthews, 41, of 4544 Graybirch Drive, died Thursday, March 1, 2001.

Angela Hill
CASAR - Mrs. Angela Patterson Hill, 39, of Casar, died Thursday, March 1, 2001, at Hospice of Wen-dover.
A native of Cleveland County, she was born April 21, 1961, the daughter of Mary McLaurin Sisk and the late Walter Seth Patterson. She attended Trinity Pentecostal Holiness Church of Shelby.
In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her sister, Gail Walker.
She is survived by one son, Bobby Ray Carpenter of Kings Mountain; one daughter, Texanna Little of Casar; five brothers, Keith Patterson of Kings Mountain and Ronnie Sisk, Doug Sisk, Justin Sisk and Eric Sisk, all of Casar; two half-brothers, Seth Patterson and Derek Patterson, both of Blacksburg, S.C.; two sisters, Tammy Ford of Fallston and Judy Clark of Cherryville; one half-sister, Monta Patterson of Blacksburg; two grandsons, Calab Medders and Dustin Little; and special friends, Robert Walker and Steve Huffman.
The funeral will be Sunday at 2:30 at the Trinity Pentecostal Holiness Church of Shelby with the Revs. Jerry Grigg and John Hughes officiating. The body will be placed in the church 30 minutes before the service. Burial will be in the Sunset Cemetery.
The family will receive friends tonight from 6:30 to 8 at Stamey Funeral Home.

LAWNDALE - Ms. Eunice Hands, 89, of 104 Douglas Road, died Friday, March 2, 2001, at Cleveland Regional Medical Center.

COLUMBUS, Ohio - Mrs. Beula Mae Ellison Matthews, formerly of Kings Mountain, of 521 Sawyer Blvd., Apartment 26, died Wednesday, Feb. 28, 2001, at her home.

MODENIA, N.Y. - Mr. Samuel "June Bug" Boyce Jr., 45, formerly of Kings Mountain, died Tuesday, Feb. 27, 2001, at his home.
The funeral will be Monday at noon at Madonna Multinational Home of Funerals, 109 Howe Ave., Passac, N.J. Burial will be at East Ridgelawn Cemetery at Clifton, N.J.

Eleanor Lee
SHELBY - Ms. Eleanor LaVonne "Nuggie" Logan Lee, 50, of 305 Willow Lane, died Saturday, March 3, 2001, at Hospice of Cleveland County.
A native of Cleveland County, she was a 1969 graduate of Shelby High School and a graduate of Cleveland Community College. She was employed by Voca Corporation of North Carolina and Complete Care Inc. as a caregiver for Mrs. Eva George. She was a member of Roberts Tabernacle Christian Methodist Episcopal Church, where she served on the Usher Board, Board of Christian Education and the Lay Council. She was a member of the G.W. Williams Chorus and was director of the Children/Youth Choir.
She was preceded in death by her mother, Annie Lee Logan Ross, and her stepfather, Bobby Ross.
She is survived by her father, Rueben Black, and her stepmother, Gennie Black, of Shelby; a daughter, Shannon Lee Thompson of the home; one son, Shawn Lee of the home; two stepsons, Reggie Osborne of Shelby and Chad McIntosh of Greensboro; one stepbrother, Steve Ross of Cherryville; two stepsisters, Angela Jeter of Charlotte and Janice Davis of Shelby; three grandchildren, Suvanna George of Shelby and Jacarra Amia Lee and Endia Lasha Thompson of the home; one son-in-law, Edriel Thompson of Shelby; one daughter-in-law, Shavonya Lee of Shelby, one stepdaughter-in-law, Vernie Osborne of Shelby; three uncles, Theodore Black, Thurman Black and Glenn Clemmons; six aunts, Willie Beasley, Mary Frances Black, Hortense Byers, Loretta Clemmons and Patricia Black of Shelby and Bessie Black of Thomasville; three special cousins, Francis Stroud, Severne Budd and Fernese Laborn of Shelby; five nieces; one nephew; and a host of other relatives and friends.
The funeral will be Wednesday at 2:30 p.m. at Roberts Tabernacle CME Church with the Rev. Carolyn Briggs officiating. Burial will follow at Webb Memorial Lawns.
The family will receive friends 30 minutes before the service at the church.

FORT MILL, S.C. - Rev. Jonathan Daniel Keeffe, 58, of 133-C Bozeman Drive, died Saturday, March 3, 2001, at Piedmont Medical Center.
The funeral will be Wednesday at 11 a.m. at Stough Memorial Baptist Church with the Revs. Mart Duggard, J. Grady Faulk and Bruce League officiating. Burial will follow in the Pineville Cemetery.
The family will receive friends tonight from 7 to 8:30 at Stough Memorial Baptist Church in Pineville and at other times at the home. Masonic rights will be given today at 6:30 p.m. at Stough Memorial Baptist Church.

Brenda Wilson
CHERRYVILLE - Mrs. Brenda Griffin Wilson, 46, of 1485 Cherryville Road, died Monday, March 5, 2001, at her home.
Born Dec. 4, 1954, in Cleveland County, she was the daughter of Margie Matthew Griffin of the home and the late Ed Clingman Griffin. She was employed as a relaxed dryer operator at Cleveland Mills in Lawndale. She was a member of Charity Baptist Church.
In addition to her father, she was preceded in death by two sisters, Betty Jo Griffin and Mary Griffin Brown, and one brother, John Franklin Griffin.
She is survived by her husband, Coleman Wilson of the home; one stepson, Neil Wilson of Monroe; one stepdaughter, April Waller of Mooresboro; three brothers, Marshall Griffin of Lincolnton, Leroy Griffin of Boiling Springs and Buster Griffin of Shelby; three sisters, Janie Griffin Suggs of Shelby, Linda Griffin Price of Gaffney and Wanda Griffin Smith of Bostic; four grandchildren, Matthew Wayne Waller, Kayla Nicole Wilson, Megan Fisher and Morgan Fisher; and two special nephews, Jamie Griffin and Travis Griffin.
The funeral will be Wednesday at 2 p.m. at Faith Baptist Church with the Revs. Johnny Owens and Charles Cook officiating. The body will be placed in the church 30 minutes before the service. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
The family will receive friends tonight from 6:30 to 8:30 at Clay-Barnette Funeral Home and at other times at the home.

KINGS MOUNTAIN - Mr. Joe B. Bridges, 67, of 828 N. Piedmont Avenue, died Sunday, March 4, 2001, at Wendover Hospice Center in Shelby.
The funeral will be Wednesday at 1 p.m. at Ollie Harris Memorial Chapel with the Rev. Eugene Land officiating. Burial will follow at Mountain Rest Cemetery.
