Eugene McGill
SHELBY - Mr. Eugene "Po-child or Rooster" McGill, 84, of 6025 Deep Green Drive, died Friday, March, 16, 2001, at Gaston Medical Center.
A native of Kings Creek, S.C., he was born April 6, 1918, the son of the late Rasmus and Martha Colts McGill. He had worked for Ellis Lumber Co.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife, Elneda Lockhart McGill; two sons, George Wesley and Earnest McGill; four brothers, John McGill, J.C. McGill, Lester McGill and Robert McGill; and a sister, Annie Bell McGill Harbinson.
He is survived by two sons and two daughters-in-law, Samuel Eugene and Theresa McGill of Cary and Howard and Carolyn McGill of Bloomfield, Conn.; six daughters and one son-in-law, Mary J. Curry, Faye Gaston and Annette Gaston, all of Shelby, Vickie M. McGill of Cherryville, Loretta and Ed White and Evangeline Berch, all of Meridian, Conn.; 48 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; a special cousin, Kenneth Costner; and two special nieces, Margaret Wilson and Jeraldine McGill.
The funeral will be today at 4 p.m. at Ellis Chapel with the Rev. W.B. Ellis officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends 30 minutes before the service at the church.
Genesis Funeral Service is in charge of arrangements.

Elaine Wilson
SHELBY - Ms. Hattie Elaine Wilson, 69, of 401 Highland Ave., died Saturday, March 17, 2001, at home.
A native of Cleveland County, she was the daughter of the late John and Mary Wilson. She was employed by Folks Cleaners for two years and by DePriest Cleaners for 38 years. She was a member of Good Samaritan Fellowship Church, where she was a member of the Kitchen Committee, the Decorating Committee, the Missionary Circle and Good Samaritan Choir. She was a former member of Shiloh Missionary Baptist Church.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by one son, Rex Wilson; two brothers, James Wilson and Charles Wilson; and one sister, Mary Sue Cleare.
She is survived by her husband, Denolius Rudisill of Shelby; three sons, Slyvannah Wilson, Alvin Wilson and Calvin Wilson, all of Shelby; four sisters, Sarah Wilson, Bulena Howell and Emma Dillingham, all of Shelby, and Minnie Fields of Raleigh; three daughters-in-law, Joan Wilson, Jeanie Wilson and Lucille Wilson; two sisters-in-law, Arleana Wilson of Baltimore and Johnnie Wilson of Shelby; one brother-in-law, Daniel Dillingham; nine grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
Funeral will be Thursday at 3 p.m. at Good Samaritan Fellowship Church with the Rev. R.E. Devoe officiating. Burial will be in Webb Memorial Lawns. The family will receive friends 30 minutes before the service.

Myrtle Morrow
SHELBY - Mrs. Myrtle Lee Bell Morrow, 85, of 213 Cameron St., died Saturday, March 24, 2001, at Cleveland Regional Medical Center.
Born Nov. 10, 1915, in Cleveland County, she was the daughter of the late Jacob and Jenny Street Bell. She was a homemaker and a member of Zoar Baptist Church.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Dock Morrow; a son, Johnny Lee Morrow; four sisters, Aileen Poston, Margaret Humphries, Alma Anthony and Mary Ware; two brothers, Fred Bell and Dan Bell; and two great-grandchildren, Alex West and Matthew Morrow.
She is survived by six sons and three daughters-in-law, Archie and Carol Morrow, David Morrow, Glenn Morrow and Dennis and Lynda Morrow, all of Shelby, Frank and Linda Morrow of Kings Mountain and Stanley Morrow of Newport News, Va.; five daughters and four sons-in-law, Louise and Floyd Robinson, Bonnie and Gary Pearson and Sarah and J.P Jones, all of Shelby, and Virginia Morrison and Kathy and Rick Elgin, all of Kings Mountain; two brothers, O.P. Bell and Jack Bell, both of Shelby; one sister, Helen Biell of California; 28 grandchildren; and 27 great-grandchildren.
The funeral will be today at 3 p.m. at Flint Hill Baptist Church with the Revs. Keith Dixon and Ed Sessom officiating.
Burial will be in the church cemetery.
The family will receive friends today one hour before the service in the church fellowship hall, and at other times at the home of a daughter, Bonnie Pearson, 1947 Burke Road, Shelby.
Memorials may be made to Flint Hill Baptist Church Building Fund, 2207 Flint Hill Church Road, Shelby, NC 28152.

Marcellus 'Marc' Absher
HARRIS - Mr. Marcellus "Marc" Absher, 72, died Saturday, March 24, 2001, at Rutherford Hospital.
The funeral will be Tuesday at 4 p.m. at Harrelson Funeral Home with the Rev. Chuck Davis officiating. Burial will be at a later date.
The family will receive friends tonight from 7 to 9 at Harrelson Funeral Home in Caroleen.

Annie Moore
SHELBY - Mrs. Annie Bell Moore, 87, of 700 S. Morgan St., died Friday, March 23, 2001, at Cleve-land Regional Medical Center.
Born April 5, 1913, in Cleve-land County, she was a daughter of the late John Wesley and Sarah Jane Sellers McSwain. She was retired from Shelby Mill. She was a member of Second Baptist Church, where she was president of the Joy Group, a choir member, Sunday school teacher, member of W.M.U. and volunteer mission worker at nursing facilities.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Wilson Thurman Moore.
She is survived by a son, Larry "Bud" Moore of Shelby; two daughters, Maxine Morehead of Greer, S.C., and Jane Ingle of Shelby; two grandchildren and their spouses, Mr. and Mrs. Eddie Grantland of Huntsville, Ala., and Mr. and Mrs. Mike Morehead of Taylors, S.C.; and two great-grandchildren, Brittney Morehead and Adam Morehead.
The funeral will be today at 2 p.m. at Second Baptist Church with Drs. Jerry R. Lail Sr. and Reginald Dawkins officiating. Burial will be in Sunset Cemetery.
The family will receive friends today one hour before the service at Second Baptist Church Fellowship Hall and other times at the home.
Memorials may be made to Second Baptist Church, 1114 S. Lafayette St., Shelby, NC 28152.

BOSTIC - Mrs. Omer Condrey Self, 86, died Sunday, March 25, 2001, at her home.
The funeral will be Tuesday at 3 p.m. at Mount Harmony Baptist Church. Burial will follow at the church cemetery.
The family will receive friends tonight from 7 to 9 at Washburn & Dorsey Funeral Home.

Allen Phillips
FOREST CITY - Mr. Allen Steve Phillips, 56, of 144 Florence St., died Sunday, March 25, 2001, at Cleveland Regional Medical Center.
Born Oct. 28, 1944, in Cleveland County, he was the son of the late Gladys G. and Savanah Camp Phillips. He was a retired electrician from Foantain Electrical Co. He was a Korean War veteran.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, George Phillips and Bily Joe Phillips; and three sisters, Lorrene Phillips, Ray Ferree and Louise Roberts.
He is survived by a brother and three sisters-in-law, Jack and Bessie Phillips of Monroe, Doris Phillips of Lawndale and Mildred Phillips of Shelby; four sisters and a brother-in-law, Frances Swink and Marie Callahan, both of Boiling Springs, Martha Lail of Forest City and Mary and Jerry Goins of Easley, S.C.; a brother-in-law, Harvey Ferree of Shelby; and nieces and nephews.
The funeral will be Tuesday at 2 p.m. at Clay-Barnette Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Jim Rice and Jack Waters officiating. Burial will be at Patterson Springs Baptist Church Cemetery.
The family will receive friends tonight from 6:30 to 8:30 at Clay-Barnette Funeral Home.

Lindon Spake
MOORESBORO - Mr. Lindon C. Spake, 91, of 552 Old Highway 221-A, died Sunday, March 25, 2001, at Henderson Health Care.
A native of Cleveland County, he was the son of the late William D. and Palestine McGinnis Spake. He was retired from Duke Power Co. and was a member of Prospect Baptist Church.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Annie Kirby Spake.
He is survived by a number of nieces and nephews; a special sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Jenny and Bo Scruggs.
The funeral will be Tuesday at 11 a.m. at McKinney-Landreth Funeral Home in Cliffside with the Rev. John Goforth officiating. Burial will follow at Prospect Baptist Church Cemetery.
The family will receive friends Tuesday from 10 to 11 a.m. at the funeral home, and at other times at the home of Jenny and Bo Scruggs, 770 Old Highway, 221-A, Mooresboro.

Artha Jones
LATTIMORE - Miss Artha Mae Jones, 94, of 108 Stockton St., died Sunday, March 25, 2001, at Crawley Memorial Hospital.
A native of Cleveland County, she was the daughter of the late Sidney Monroe and Hester Greene Jones. She was a retired sales clerk at Belk of Gaffney, S.C., and a member of First Baptist Church in Gaffney.
She is survived by two brothers, Z.D. Jones of Union Mills, S.C., and Fred W. Jones of Shelby; a sister, Ann Bramlett of Lattimore; and nieces and nephews.
A graveside service will be Tuesday at 11 a.m. at Frederick Memorial Gardens with Dr. Bobby Morrow officiating.
The family will receive friends after the service at the cemetery and at other times at their respective homes.
Memorials may be made to First Baptist Church, 200 N. Limestone St., Gaffney, S.C. 29340.

Adrian Cannon
SAN DIEGO - Adrian James Cannon, infant son of Garry "Baba" and Adrienne Butts Cannon of 1445 Larwood Road, died Thursday, March 22, 2001, at Kaiser Permanente Hospital.
In addition to his parents, he is survived by a brother, Garry Bernard Cannon Jr. of the home; grandparents, J.C. and Beulah Wray Cannon of Shelby, Le Bron Butts of Chattanooga, Tenn., and Helen Doakes of San Diego; great-grandparents, Ida Wray of Shelby and Margaret Brown of Chattanooga.; and several aunts, uncles and cousins.
A graveside service will be today at 2 p.m. at Mount Hope Cemetery in San Diego.
Flowers and telegrams may be sent to Anderson-Radsdale Mortuary, 5050 Federal Blvd., San Diego, CA 92102.

Carmel Weast
RUTHERFORDTON - Mrs. Carmel Sanders Weast, 86, died Saturday, March 24, 2001, at Rutherford Hospital.
The funeral will be Wednesday at 2 p.m. at Wilson Baptist Church. Burial will be at the church cemetery.
The family will receive friends Tuesday night from 6 to 8 at Washburn & Dorsey Funeral Home.

Helen Roberts
GROVER - Ms. Helen Rebecca Roberts, 89, of 2152 Brookfield Drive, died Saturday March 24, 2001, at Cleveland Regional Medical Center.
A native of Cleveland County, she was a daughter of the late Esca Quinn and Willie Lowery Roberts.
She was a graduate of Limestone College with a degree in education and was a longtime teacher at Township No. 3 Elementary School. She was a member of the Retired Teachers Association and Pleasant Hill Baptist Church, where she taught Sunday school.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by three brothers, Herman Roberts, George Roberts and Quinn Roberts.
She is survived by two nieces and nephews-in-law, Lyndal and Joe K. Davis and Betty and Tom Adams, all of Shelby.
The funeral will be Monday at 3 p.m. at Pleasant Hill Baptist Church with the Rev. Todd Bolin officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
The family will receive friends one hour before the service at the church.
Memorials may be made to Pleasant Hill Baptist Church Cemetery Fund, 2338 Pleasant Hill Church Road, Grover, NC 28073.

Mary Brown
BOSTIC - Ms. Mary Lizzie Brown, 82, of 1734 Bostic-Sunshine Highway, died Thursday, March 22, 2001, at Cleveland Regional Medical Center.
The funeral will be Monday at 3 p.m. at New Vernon Baptist Church with the Rev. Albert Hillman officiating. Burial will be in Freeman Family Cemetery.
The body will be placed in the church one hour before the service.

Milan Landis
FOREST CITY - Mr. Milan Landis, 61, of 341 Tanners Grove Road, died Friday March 23, 2001, at home.
