ELLENBORO - Mr. Ealzie Edward Gallman, 67, of 761 Lake Davis Road, died Sunday, April 1, 2001, at Rutherford Hospital.
The funeral will be Wednesday at 3 p.m. in the chapel of Crowe's Funeral Home with the Rev. Chris Masters officiating. Burial will be in Spindale City Cemetery.
The family will receive friends an hour before the service at the funeral home.

GREENSBORO - Mrs. Willie W. Self, 83, of 11 Shelburne Court, died Tuesday, April 3, 2001, at her home.
She was a native of Cleveland County and a member of Hinshaw United Methodist Church in Greensboro.
She is survived by her husband of 62 years, J.B. Self Sr. of the home; one son and daughter - in - law, J.B. Jr. and Cathy Self of Greensboro; two daughters, Marcia Nolan and Nancy Waldrop, both of Greensboro; four grandchildren, Jane Waldrop of Nashville, Tenn., Jason Waldrop and his wife, Kathy, of Charlotte, Brad Self and Kelly Self, both of Greensboro; one great - grandson, Will Waldrop of Charlotte; one sister and brother - in - law, Ruby L. and Ray Duran of Fort Laramie, Wyo. A graveside service will be Thursday at 2 p.m. in the mausoleum of Guildford Memorial Park.
The family will receive friends tonight from 7 to 9 at Hanes - Lineberry Funeral Home in the North Elm Chapel.

The body will be placed in the church 30 minutes before the service. Burial will follow in Sunset Memorial Park. CROUSE - Mr. Marshall Howard Leonhardt Jr., 49, of 273 Hephzibah Church Road, died Sunday, April 1, 2001, at 2546 Lincolnton Highway.

Geneva Greene FOREST CITY - Mrs. Geneva White Greene, 84, formerly of Mulberry Street, died Tuesday, April 3, 2001, at White Oak Manor, where she was a resident.
The funeral will be Thursday at 11 a.m. in Florence Baptist Church with Dr. Bobby Gantt officiating. Burial will be in the Cool Springs Cemetery.

HENRIETTA - Mr. Bob Langley, 70, died Monday, April 2, 2001, at the VA Medical Center in Asheville.
The funeral will be Thursday at 11 a.m. at the Harrelson Funeral Home, Caroleen, with an Army chaplin officiating. Burial will be in Rutherford County Memorial Cemetery with military honors.

CHERRYVILLE - Mr. D.R. Mauney Jr., 86, of 301 Old Post Road, died Monday, April 2, 2001, at Cleveland Regional Medical Center.
The funeral will be Thursday at 2 p.m. at St. John's Lutheran Church with the Rev. Michael Collins officiating. Burial will be in the family plot of St. John's Lutheran Church Cemetery.
The family will receive friends at the home any time Wednesday afternoon or evening. Carpenter's Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Mary S. Robinson
GROVER - Mrs. Mary S. Robinson, 81, of 102 Springdale Drive, died Tuesday, April 3, 2001, at Cleveland Regional Medical Center.
A native of Hazard, Ky., she was the daughter of the late Joseph and Nancy Fields Cotingame. She was a member of First Baptist Church in Grover, where she was a member of the WMU and Golden Circle Sunday School Class. She was a homemaker.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by one brother, Johnny Cotingame.
She is survived by her husband, James Darvin Robinson of Grover; one son, Joseph D. Robinson of Shelby; one daughter and son - in - law, Nancy and James Philbeck of Grover; five grandchildren, T. Max Davis, Brian L. Davis, James Robert Philbeck, Steven Philbeck and Brian Philbeck; six great - grandchildren; and one nephew and four nieces.
The funeral will be Friday at 11 a.m. at First Baptist Church with Dr. Tony Fulbright officiating. Burial will be in the Grover Cemetery.
The family will receive friends tonight from 7 to 8:30 at Harris Funeral Home in Kings Mountain and at other times at the home.

Nellie Jolley
MOORESBORO - Mrs. Nellie Adkins Jolley, 93, died Wednesday, April 4, 2001, at White Oak Manor of Shelby.
A native of Yancy County, she was the daughter of the late Perry and Hattie Miller Adkins. She was a homemaker and a member of Mount Pleasant Baptist Church.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Buren Jolley, and one daughter, Blanche Jolley.
She is survived by one son, Danny Jolley of Cliffside; two daughters, Ruth Allred of Caroleen and Jennie Hudgins of Boiling Springs; one sister, Alo Phillips of Burnsville; five grandchildren, Tracy Allred, Angie Campbell, Chris Jolley, Jeff Jolley and Jason Jolley; and three great - grandchildren, Amber Campbell, Kala Campbell and Christopher Campbell.
The funeral will be Friday at 11 a.m. at Mount Pleasant Baptist Church with the Rev. Greg Qualls officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

Modena Brooks
SHELBY - Mrs. Modena Brigman Brooks, 87, of 601 W. Dixon Blvd., died Tuesday, April 3, 2001, at Fort Sanders Park West Medical Center in Knoxville, Tenn.
A native of Cleveland County, she was born Jan. 2, 1914, the daughter of the late John Brigman and Emma Hester Harris. She worked at Wal - Mart and Kings Department Store. She was a member of First Baptist Church in Shelby.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband, A.B. Graham, and her second husband, Paul Jackson Brooks.
She is survived by two daughters and a son - in - law, Barbara Graham and Bobby Lane of Shelby and Paula Brooks Knisley of Knoxville, Tenn.; four grandchildren, Jimmy Dean Graham Jr., Bobby Lee "Chip" Lane Jr., Larry Lane and Rocky Lane, all of Shelby; and four great - grandchildren, Joshua Graham, Rocky Lane Jr., Patrick Lane and Preston Lane, all of Shelby.
The funeral will be Friday at 3 p.m. in the chapel of Clay-Barnette Funeral Home with Dr. Harold Fite officiating. Burial will follow in Cleveland Memorial Park.
The family will receive friends tonight from 6 to 8 at the funeral home and at other times at the home.

KINGS MOUNTAIN - W.D. "Dub" Green, 76, of White Oak Manor, died Tuesday, April 3, 2001, at his home.
A graveside service will be today at 1 p.m. at Mountain Rest Cemetery with the Rev. Mitchell Pruitt officiating.

POLKVILLE - Mrs. Susie Pauline Ivie Smart, 86, died Wednesday, April 4, 2001, at Haven of Hills of Bostic.
A native of Habersham County, Ga., she was a daughter of the late Simmion and Levi Hardy Ivie. She was a retired textile worker.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Forrest Curtis Smart; three sons, Charles Smart, Ruffus Smart and Forest S. Smart; and one daughter, Charlotte Joyce Smart.
She is survived by one son, Virgil "Buddy/Cowboy" Smart of Polkville; two daughters, Donnie Gail Smart Cook of Polkville and Frances S. Hutchins of Connelly Springs; one sister, Gustavia Lance of Atlanta; 16 grandchildren; 26 great - grandchildren; and nine great - great - grandchildren.
The funeral will be Friday at 2 p.m. in the chapel of Lutz-Austell Funeral Home with the Rev. Marty Bass officiating. Burial will be private.
The family will receive friends tonight from 6:30 to 8:30 and 30 minutes before service at the funeral home.

SHELBY - Mr. J.G. Hawkins, 75, of 5201 Spring Lane, died Wednesday, April 4, 2001, at Cleveland Regional Medical Center.
A native of Cleveland County, he was the son of the late Robert A. and Gerthie Blanton Hawkins. He was self - employed in construction and was a member of Patterson Springs Baptist Church.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by four brothers, James Hawkins, Carl Hawkins, Lawrence Hawkins and Yates Hawkins; and a sister, Olene Pearson.
He is survived by his wife, Fannie Panther Hawkins; two sons and daughters - in - law, Larry and Kathy Hawkins and Lester "Pete" and Susan Hawkins, all of Shelby; a daughter and son - in - law, Linda and Edward Swink of Mooresboro; two sisters, Mary Foster of Shelby and Irene Pearson of Kings Mountain; 11 grandchildren, Trent Swink, Amy Swink, Lorie McCurry, Dean McCurry, Brent Hawkins, Sharon Hawkins, Neely Hawkins, Lucas Hawkins, Brad Hawkins, Jessica Morehead and Jennifer Morehead; and five great - grandchildren, Carson Lea Swink, Abbey Swink, Greg Hawkins, Gage Swink and Chancey McCurry.
The funeral will be Friday at 11 a.m. at Patterson Springs Baptist Church with the Rev. Steve Waters officiating. The body will be placed in the church 30 minutes before the service. Burial will be in Cleveland Memorial Park.

Hazel Barnes
RUTHERFORDTON - Mrs. Hazel Harris Barnes, 73, of 179 Riceville Road, died Saturday, April 7, 2001, at Seacoast Medical Center in Little River, S.C.
She was a native of Rutherford County, a daughter of the late Willard and Janie Pearl Fox Harris. She retired from Cone Mills, Cliffside Plant. She was a member of Shiloh Baptist Church.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Ed Barnes.
She is survived by three daughters, Sandra Robbins of Forest City, Sara Spence of Rutherfordton and Susie Overwyk of Hickory; one brother, Jesse Harris of Mooresboro; eight grandchildren and four great - grandchildren.
The funeral will be Tuesday at 2 p.m. at Shiloh Baptist Church, with the Rev. Michael Sepaugh officiating. Burial will be in Cliffside Cemetery.
The family will receive friends Tuesday at the church one hour before the service.

James Bridges
BOILING SPRINGS - Mr. James Irvin Bridges, 79, of 115 Woodhill Drive, died Sunday, April 8, 2001, at Cleveland Regional Medical Center.
A native of Cleveland County, he was a son of the late Morris and Lallage Brooks Bridges. He served with the Army in World War II in the European Theatre, earning four bronze stars. He retired as a dye house operator with Gaffney (S.C.) Manufacturing and Mauney Hosiery in Kings Mountain. He was a member of Pleasant Ridge Baptist Church.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Millis Bridges and Perry Bridges, and two grandsons, Kirk Champion and Johnny Michael Barrett Jr.
He is survived by his wife, Ann Green Bridges of the home; three sons and daughters - in - law, Thomas "Gene" and Marjorie Bridges and Larry and Wanda Bridges of Shelby and Brutus and Wanda Bridges of Boiling Springs; four daughters and sons - in - law, Linda Bridges and Johnny Barrett of Boiling Springs, Barbara Bridges and Alan Moxey of Snellville, Ga., Suzi Bridges and Marcus Martin of Lattimore and Denita and Derek Shaw of Bostic; two brothers, Kenneth Bridges of Mooresboro and Herman Bridges of Boiling Springs; four sisters, Aileen Crowe and Mary Lou Daves of Boiling Springs and Nora Greene and Martha Beason of Mooresboro; grandchildren, Brad Bridges and his fiancée, Amy Gregory, Chad and Keisha Bridges, Christie Barrett, Troy Barrett, Jennifer Barrett and her fiancé, Robert Francis, Kiley Champion, Mandy Bridges, Justin Bridges, Ashley Bridges, Michael Bridges, Melissa Bridges, Benjamin Martin, Katy Martin, Lee Bradley, Matt Bradley, Serena Bradley, Jancy Owens, Christie Hoyle, Barbara and Jason Townsend and Tiffany Hager; and five great - grandchildren, Macey Bridges, Shalyn Bradley, Desiree Hoyle, Caleb Owens and Hannah Owens.
The funeral will be Tuesday at 2 p.m. at Pleasant Ridge Baptist Church, with the Revs. Terry Cagle and Andy Oliver officiating. The body will be placed in the church 30 minutes before the service. Burial will be in Cleveland Memorial Park.

Services will be Tuesday at 3 p.m. at Blacksburg (S.C.) Church of God, with the Rev. James Clark officiating. Burial will be in Clingman Memorial Gardens.

Coren McSwain
SHELBY - Mr. Coren Hartsell McSwain, 89, of 1194 Scenic Drive, died Saturday, April 7, 2001, at Cleveland Regional Medical Center.
A native of Cleveland County, he was a son of the late Amzi and Victoria Sanders McSwain. He was a seven - year veteran of the Army National Guard, serving in Co. K, 120th Infantry, Fort Polk, La. He retired from Esther Mill and was a member of Mulls Memorial Baptist Church.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Michael L. McSwain; four brothers, Will McSwain, Coleman McSwain, Ed McSwain and Cullen McSwain; and three sisters, Vangie Ledbetter, Evelyn Bridges and Delia Costner.
He is survived by his wife, Elsie Eddins McSwain of the home; a son and daughter - in - law, Bruce and Linda McSwain of Shelby; three daughters and sons - in - law, Catherine and Frank Derikart of Florence, S.C., Rachel and Dan Fink of Matthews and Martha and Bob Smith of Fayetteville, Ark.; a brother, Hershel McSwain of Lincolnton; four grandchildren, Peter Derikart, Jane D. Sufka and her husband, Patrick, Kristi D. Bowers and her husband, Tyler, and Lynn McSwain Piercy and her husband, Butch; and one great - grandson, Michael Gantt.
