SHELBY - Mrs. Evelyn Tessneer Morrison, 62, of 2715 S. Post Road, died Wednes - day, April 11, 2001, at Cleveland Regional Medical Center.
A native of Cleveland County, she was born Nov. 6, 1938, the daughter of the late Filo Whitefield and Anniebelle Mellon Tessneer. She was retired as a food service lunch room employee of Cleveland County schools. She was a member of Mount Sinai Baptist Church.
She is survived by her husband, Johnny Morrison; a son, Wayne Morrison of Shelby; two daughters, Libby Creswell and Susan Edwards, both of Shelby; two brothers, Rufus Tessneer and Buford Tessneer, both of Shelby; one sister, Essie White of Shelby; four grandchildren, Richard Morrison, Savannah Edwards, Brooke Morrison and Austin Edwards, all of Shelby; one stepgranddaughter, Kiersten Creswell of Easley, S.C.; and one stepgreat - grandchild, Landen Roach of Easley, S.C.
The funeral will be Friday at 2 p.m. at Mount Sinai Baptist Church with the Revs. Tim Trexler and Broadus Heatherly officiating. Burial will be in Cleveland Memorial Park.
The family will receive friends tonight from 7 to 9 at Palmer Mortuary.

Jean Ryall
SELMA, Ala. - Mrs. Jean Hinton Ryall, 85, died Wednesday, April 11, 2001, at her home.
She has been a resident of Selma, Ala., since 1947.
She was preceded in death by her husband in 1982.
She is survived by two daughters and one son - in - law, Emma Scudder Ryall and James Gammon of Longwood, Fla., and Sally Byrd Ryall Cullinane of Shelby; one son, James Bomar Ryall Jr. of Mobile, Ala.; two sisters, Leone Hinton of Memphis, Tenn., and Elizabeth Robb of Arena, Wis.; six grandchildren; five great - grandchildren; and a number of nieces and nephews.
The funeral will be Friday at 3 p.m. at St. Paul's Episcopal Church with the Rev. Polk VanZandt officiating and Lawrence Funeral Home directing.
Burial will be in Old Live Oak Cemetery.

John Guinn
KINGS MOUNTAIN - Mr. John Robert Guinn, 74, of Hillway Drive, died Saturday, April 7, 2001, at Gaston Memorial Hospital in Gastonia.
The funeral will be today at 4 p.m. at Vestibule AME Zion Church. Burial will be in Mountain Rest Cemetery.
The family will receive friends 30 minutes before the service at the church.

Ethelene Trammell
SHELBY - Mrs. Ethelene Blanton Trammell, 87, died Wednesday, April 11, 2001, at White Oak Manor in Shelby.
A native of Cleveland County, she was the daughter of the late O.C. and Myrtus Bridges Blanton. She was a retired textile employee and a member of Eastside Baptist Church.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Garfield Trammell.
She is survived by two sons, Arthur Trammell of Port Saint Lucie, Fla., and Jerry Trammell of Shelby; nine grandchildren; and 12 great - grandchildren.
A graveside service will be Friday at 2 p.m. at Sunset Cemetery in Shelby with the Rev. Troy Harris officiating.
The family will receive friends following the service at the cemetery.
Memorials may be made to Eastside Baptist Church, 1165 Wyke Road, Shelby, NC 28150.

Vada Falls
KINGS MOUNTAIN - Mrs. Vada Wright Falls, 93, of 176 Patterson Road, died Wednes - day, April 11, 2001 at Cleveland Regional Medical Center in Shelby.
A native of Cleveland County, she was the daughter of the late Pinkney and Margaret Sellers Wright. She was a member and former Sunday school teacher and choir member of Patterson Grove Baptist Church. She was a homemaker and a former member of the Home Demonstration Club of Cleveland County.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Carl C. Falls; a daughter, Rita Falls; a sister, Belle Wright; and seven brothers, Pressley Wright, Grier Wright, Gaither Wright, Clem Wright, Ervin Wright, Wilbur Wright and Herschel Wright.
She is survived by four sons and three daughters - in - law, Carl D. and Juanita Falls and Ronnie Falls, all of Kings Mountain, and Hal and Carolyn Falls and Scott and Sarah Falls, all of Gastonia; two daughters and sons - in - law, Becky and Robert Scism of Kings Mountain and Tina and Ray Cash of Pompano Beach, Fla.; grandchildren, Jeff Falls of York, S.C., Beth Falls, Lynn and Cam Scism, John and Roxanne Bridges and Rhonda Falls, all of Kings Mountain, Jeff and Kimberly Humphries and Baker Falls, all of Gastonia, Steven and Carla Parham of Denver, Laura Falls of Vale, Heather Cash of Fort Lauderdale, Fla., Carlos and Melissa Barrios of Newton, Scott and Hollie Arnold of Alexandria, Va.; and great - grandchildren, K'Anne Edge, Dean Falls, Joshua Humphries, Thomas Bridges, Elizabeth Bridges, Rebakah Bridges, Sara Scism, Joshua Scism, Taylor Parham, Julia Parham, Victoria Parham, and Miranda Cash.
The funeral will be Friday at 3 p.m. at Patterson Grove Baptist Church with the Rev. David Webb officiating.
The family will receive friends tonight from 7 to 9 at Harris Funeral Home and at other times at the home of her daughter, Becky Scism, 108 Country Club Road, Kings Mountain.

'Hacksaw' McCraw
SHELBY - Mr. Forrest Edward "Hacksaw" McCraw, 58, of 420 Davis Road, died Wednesday, April 11, 2001, at Cleveland Regional Medical Center.
A native of Cherokee County, S.C., he was the son of the late Forrest Brown and Jeanette Lester McCraw. He worked in industrial construction and was a member of Kirby Memorial Baptist Church in Gaffney, S.C.
He is survived by his wife, Diane Wilson McCraw of the home; two sons and one daughter - in - law Steve McCraw of Charlotte and Richard and Melissa McCraw of Vale; one daughter, Amy McCraw and her fiancé, Wayne Eudy, of Grover; one grandson, Roger McCraw of Vale and one granddaughter, Ashley McCraw of Vale; three brothers and sisters - in - law, Wayne and Judy McCraw and Walter and Kay McCraw, all of Gaffney, and Jerry and Birgit McCraw of Savannah, Ga.; and one sister and brother - in - law, Mary and Marvin Duncan of Gaffney.
The funeral will be Saturday at 1 p.m. at the chapel of Cleveland Funeral Services with Richard McCraw and the Rev. Richard Lancaster officiating. Burial will follow in New Hope Baptist Church Cemetery.
The family will receive friends tonight from 7 to 9 at Cleveland Funeral Services and at other times at the home, 420 Davis Road in Shelby.

Annie Briggs
LINCOLNTON - Mrs. Annie Jane Hunter Briggs, 78, of 515 Generals Blvd., died Tuesday, April 10, 2001 at Brian Center.
The funeral will be Saturday at 3 p.m. at Second Baptist Church with the Rev. Alvin Raymond officiating. Burial will follow in Hollybrook Cemetery.
The family will receive friends one hour before the service.
Ebony and White's Funeral Service is in charge of arrangements.

'Billy' Bankhead
SHELBY - Mr. Willard "Billy" Matthew Bankhead, 78, of 700 Norwood St., died Thursday, April 12, 2001, at Cleveland Regional Medical Center.
A native of York, S.C., he was the son of the late Carl Raymond and Alma Washburn Bankhead. He was the former owner of Shelby Farm and Garden. He was a member of First Baptist Church and a member of Hale Bryson Sunday school class. He was in the Army during World War II in Guam.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one brother, Carl Raymond Bankhead Jr.
He is survived by his wife, Lucille Byers Bankhead; one daughter and son - in - law, Lynn Bankhead and Tim Ellis of Shelby; two brothers and one sister - in - law, Charles Bankhead and John and Jean Bankhead, all of Shelby; three sisters and two brothers - in - law, Mary McBrayer of Avon, Conn., Katherine and Miles Annas of Charlotte and Sarah and Herbert Hunter of Lake Norman; and one grandchild, Elizabeth Ellis of Greenville, S.C.
The funeral will be Saturday at 11 a.m. at First Baptist Church with the Rev. Tony Tench officiating. Burial will follow in Sunset Cemetery.
The family will receive friends tonight from 6:30 to 8 at Cecil M. Burton Funeral Home.

Homer Starnes
EARL - Mr. Homer Lee Starnes, 90, of 204 Rosemont Drive, died Tuesday, April 10, 2001, at Carolinas Medical Center.
A native of Cleveland County, he was the son of the late Robert Jackson and Dora Lee Warren Starnes. He was a World War II veteran, serving as a first sergeant in the Army, in the infantry and in the Normandy Invasion, Northern France and Central Europe. He was awarded the Bronze Star, Purple Heart and European Theater Ribbon with five battle stars. He was a member of Bridgeport Masonic Lodge No. 543, a 32nd Degree Scottish Rite Mason and the No. 3 Ruritan Club. He was a member at New Hope Baptist Church, where he was a deacon emeritus and Sunday school teacher. He was retired from United Van Lines, Martin Transfer and Storage Co., Charlotte.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by five brothers, Marvin Starnes, Earl Starnes, Fred Starnes, Ray Starnes and Warren Starnes; and two sisters, Ann Puett and Katherine Starnes.
He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Frances Hackney Starnes; one daughter and son - in - law, Virginia "Jen" and Marvin Beatty of Suffolk, Va.; one brother and two sisters - in - law, R.J. and Betty Starnes of Valdese and Mary Ruth Starnes of Earl; three grandchildren, Marvin Beatty IV and his wife, Melissa, of Charlotte, Virginia Lee Beatty of Virginia Beach, Va., and Heather Beatty Doyle and her husband, Tom, of Nags Head; and several nieces and nephews.
The funeral will be today at 3 p.m. at New Hope Baptist Church in Earl with the Revs. David Gordon, Latt Beshears and Broadus Heatherly officiating.
The body will be placed in the church 30 minutes before the service. Burial will be at Buffalo Baptist Church in Blacksburg, S.C.
The family will receive friends one hour before the service in the church fellowship hall.

Nettie Mae Price
FOREST CITY - Mrs. Nettie Mae Beheler Price, 78, of 357 Old Henrietta Road, died Thursday, April 12, 2001, at her home.
A native of Cherokee County, S.C., she was the daughter of the late Pinkey and Janie Scruggs Beheler. She was a homemaker.
She is survived by her husband, Paul Price, of Boiling Springs; two sons, Billy Joe Price of Forest City, and Johnny Lee Beheler of Inman, S.C.; four daughters, Pauline Morgan of Forest City, Artie Smith of the home, Virginia Griffin of Boiling Springs and Debbie Smith of Inman; one brother, Charles Beheler of Rutherfordton; 16 grandchildren and 17 great - grandchildren.
The funeral will be Saturday at 2 p.m. at State Line Baptist Church with the Revs. Chris Bryan and Vernon Moore officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
The family will receive friends tonight from 7 to 9 at McKinney-Landreth Funeral Home in Cliffside.

Roger Huffstetler
CHERRYVILLE - Mr. Roger Dean Huffstetler, 49, of 417 Roy Eaker Road, died Thursday, April 12, 2001, at his home.
The funeral will be Saturday at 11 a.m. at First Baptist Church with the Revs. Nathan May and Perry Holleman officiating. Burial will be at City Memorial Cemetery in Cherryville.
The family will receive friends tonight from 7 to 8:30 at Carpenter's Funeral Home.

Mary Lou Sutton
SHELBY - Mrs. Mary Lou Britt Sutton, 92, of 515 Woodside Drive, died Sunday, April 15, 2001, at Cleveland Regional Medical Center.
Born in Perquimans County, she was a daughter of the late James Thomas and Elizabeth Elliott Britt. After graduation from college, she taught school for 10 years in Perquimans County. She belonged to Central United Methodist Church, where she was a member of the Women's Bible Class and United Methodist Women and was a former Sunday school teacher. She was a supervisor with the Cleveland County Department of Social Services.
She is survived by a daughter and son - in - law, Betty and Stephen S. Royster of Shelby; four brothers, Carl Britt of Shelby and Alvin Britt, Sam Britt and Julian Britt of Houston; two sisters, Helene Britt and Katherine Jones of Shelby; three grandchildren, Stephen S. Royster III and his wife, Susan, of Asheville, Michael Royster and his wife, Ann, of Shelby, and Susan Royster of Charlotte; and four great - grandchildren, Laura Royster, Erin Royster, Sarah Royster and Paul Royster.
The funeral will be Tuesday at 2 p.m. in the chapel of Clay-Barnette Funeral Home, with Dr. Joe Reeves and the Rev. Tony Tench officiating. Burial will be in Cleveland Memorial Park.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home after the service. At other times, the family is at the home.
Memorials may be made to Central United Methodist Church, 200 E. Marion St., Shelby, NC 28150.

Pauline Cole
SHELBY - Mrs. Pauline Nalley Cole, 68, of 110 Cole Drive, died Saturday, April 14, 2001, at Cleveland Regional Medical Center.
Born in Black Mountain, she was the daughter of the late Grady Von Wiggins and Maggie Melton Nalley. She was the owner and operator of Pauline's Beauty Shop.
She is survived by her husband, Claude G. Cole of the home; a brother and sister - in - law, Charles and Jeanette Nalley of Shelby; a brother - in - law and sister - in - law, Herman and Lois Cole of Siler City, S.C.; and a sister - in - law, Nancy Nalley of Shelby.
The funeral will be Tuesday at 11 a.m. in the chapel of Clay-Barnette Funeral Home, with the Revs. Alan Sailors and Doug Mathis officiating. Entombment will be in Cleveland Memorial Park.
The family will receive friends tonight from 7 to 8:30 at the funeral home.
Memorials may be made to the charity of the donor's choice.

Nell Weaver
SHERMAN, Texas - Mrs. Nell R. Weaver, born Sept. 5, 1918, in Sherman, Texas, died.
The third daughter of George and Maude Richardson, she graduated from Sherman High School and attended Dallas College of Drama.
She married George H. Ropp, an Air Force pilot from Shelby, in 1942. They had one daughter, Pamela Ann. Capt. Ropp died in an airplane crash in 1946. Nell married Ralph Weaver in August 1950. They adopted a son, George.
She was a Girl Scout troop leader, president of Bell County Legal Secretaries Association and received an award from the American Red Cross for 20 years of volunteer service. She attended First Baptist Church in Sherman.
She is survived by her husband, Lt. Col. (U.S. Army Ret.) Ralph Weaver; children, Pamela Casler of Las Vegas and George Weaver of Belton, Texas; two grandchildren, Audrey Nell Allen and Riley Calhoun Casler; three great - grandchildren; nieces, Jo Ann Butler of Sherman and Iris Cappleman of Arlington, Texas; a nephew, Richard Cappleman of Fort Worth, Texas; great - niece, Lisa Barnes of Sherman; and great - nephew, Kurt Cappleman of Fort Worth.
The family will receive friends tonight from 7 to 9 at Weed - Corley - Fish Funeral Home in Austin, Texas.
There will be no funeral service. Burial will be at Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery, San Antonio.
