MONTGOMERY, Ala. - Mr. Robert Edward Pyron, 90, of Montgomery, Ala, died Thursday, May 3, 2001, at a local hospital.
He is survived by his wife, Gussie Pyron of Montgomery, one daughter and a son - in - law, Linda P. and Michael Gammons of Shelby; one son and daughter - in - law, Charles E. and Rose Pyron of Montgomery; two sisters, Eunice Peeples (Colley) and Mildred Curlee, both of Holtville, Ala.; 10 grandchildren, Jeff Gammons, Keith Gammons, Julie Scott, Debbie Jennings, Alan Pyron, Chuck Pyron, Jake Pyron, Amanda Brewer, Joshua Brewer and Jeremiah Brewer; six great - grandchildren; and devoted caregivers, Hilda Johnson, Jenell Hicks and Jeanie Goolsby.
The funeral will be Sunday at 2 p.m. at Leak - Memory Chapel with the Rev. Greg Belser officiating. Burial will follow in the Greenwood Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be the grandsons.
The family will receive friends Saturday from 6 to 8 at the funeral home.

KINGS MOUNTAIN - Mr. Paul Whitley, 76, of 802 Meadowbrook Road, died Thursday, May 3, 2001, at Kings Mountain Hospital.
The funeral will be Saturday at 11 a.m. at Ollie Harris Memorial Chapel with the Rev. Ken Gillikin officiating. Burial will follow in the Mountain Rest Cemetery.

SHELBY - Mrs. Maude Elizabeth Stacy, 90, of 1425 E. Marion St., died Thursday, May 3, 2001, at Alterra Sterling House of Shelby.
A native of Randolph County, she was the daughter of the late Rev. L.E. and Sally Nolan Stacy. She was retired as a medical secretary. She was a member of Friendship United Methodist Church where she was a former Sunday school teacher in the children's department.
She was preceded in death by a brother, Paul J. Stacy.
The funeral will be Saturday at 11 a.m. at Friendship United Methodist Church. Burial will follow at Sunset Cemetery.
The family will receive friends 30 minutes prior to the funeral at the church.

KINGS MOUNTAIN - Mrs. Dorothy Lee Allen Yarbro, 73, of 560 Bethlehem Road, died Thursday, May 3, 2001, at her home.
A native of Cleveland County, she was the daughter of the late Plato and Beaulah Camp Allen. She was retired from Universal Manufacturing in Shelby, where she was an inspector. She was a member of Bethlehem Baptist Church.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Henry Decalb Yarbro; two daughters, Joanne Yarbro and Dorothy Dean Yarbro; a brother, Jim Allen; and three sisters, Elizabeth Allen Reep, Josephine A. Adams and Margaret A. Robbins.
She is survived by four daughters and sons - in - law, Jean Y. and Charles Sisk and Lorene Y. and Steve Lail, all of Kings Mountain, Gwendolyn Y. and Terry Childers, both of Gaffney, S.C. and Jane Y. and Floyd Mauney, both of Shelby; a special friend, Walter Randle of Shelby; a brother, Joe P. Allen of Shelby; three sisters and brothers - in - law, Louise A. Scruggs of Patterson Springs, Mary Lou A. and Frank Green and Shirley A. and Tommy Bell, all of Shelby; 11 grandchildren; and seven great - grandchildren.
The funeral will be Sunday at 3 p.m. at Bethlehem Baptist Church with the Revs. David Blanton and Harold Beam officiating. Burial will follow at the church cemetery.

The body will be placed in the church 30 minutes before the funeral.

BLACKSBURG, SC - Mr. Bobby Morris Bridges, 63, of 141 Zayes Road, died Thursday, May 3, 2001, at Upstate Carolina Medical Center.
A native of Cleveland County, he was the son of Bertie Lee Hamrick Bridges and the late Zaye Morrison Bridges. He was a member of Lighthouse Baptist Church and was a retired textile employee at Wendall Fabrics.
In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by one son, Terry Eugene Bridges; and two brothers, Ricky Bridges and Ted Bridges.
He is survived by two daughters, Sheina Powell and Crystal McCurry, both of Shelby; two sons, Bobby Randall Bridges of Kings Mountain and James Morris Bridges of Blacksburg; one brother, Max Bridges of Grover; three sisters, Wanda Carpenter of Kings Mountain, Betty Goodson of Grover and Libby Jones of Charlotte; nine grandchildren; and two great - grandchildren.
A graveside service will be Sunday at 2 p.m. at Cleveland Memorial Park with the Rev. Dewitt Clyde officiating.

LAWNDALE - Mr. James Thurman Spangler, 85, of 121 Martin St., died Friday, May 4, 2001, at his home.
A native of Double Shoals, he was born May 26, 1915, the son of the late William Theodore and Leila Hunt Spangler. He was retired from Cleveland Mills as a technician. He was in the Army Air Corps during World War II and served in Panama and the Hawaiian Islands.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Faye Jones Spangler.
He is survived by one son and daughter - in - law, J.T. Jr. and Earlene Spangler of Hickory; two daughters and sons - in - law, Margie and Paul Earwood of Shelby and Janice and Nelson Proctor of Hickory; one brother and sister - in - law, Dwight and Esta Spangler of Irvin, Texas; one sister - in - law, Fannie Randall of Los Angeles; six grandchildren; and 12 great - grandchildren.
The funeral will be Sunday at 4 p.m. in the chapel of Stamey Funeral Home with the Revs. Lamar Hewitt and Jack Waters officiating. Burial will be in the Rose Hill Memorial Park.

KINGS MOUNTAIN - Mr. William O'Neal "Smitty" Smith, 73, of 415 Belvedere Circle, died Wednesday, May 2, 2001, at his home.
A native of Cleveland County, he was born May 6, 1927, the son of the late O'Neal Smith and Louise Roseboro Berry and the stepson of the late Larry Bernard Smith. He attended Flat Rock School in Fallston. He retired from Martin Marietta Aggregation in Kings Mountain after 45 years of service. He was a member of Mount Zion Baptist Church where he served on the Trustee Board, Laymen League and the Sunday School Department. He was also a member of the Good Neighbor's Club of Belvedere Circle.
He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Mary Elizabeth Briggs Smith; five daughters and one son - in - law, Annie Louise Smith Love, Joann Smith and Daniel Holland, Iris Rebecca Smith, Betty Smith Ross and Mary Alice Smith, all of Kings Mountain; five sisters, Minnie Lee McClain of Kings Mountain, Cora Lee Roseboro, Christine Morris and Bernice B. Petty, all of Shelby, and Rosa Mae Graham of Gastonia; 14 grandchildren; 29 great - grandchildren; and nieces and nephews.
The funeral will be Sunday at 3 p.m. at Mount Zion Missionary Baptist Church with the Rev. Clinton A. Feemster officiating. Burial will be in the Mountain Rest Cemetery.
