GROVER - Mr. Greer Sidney Blackburn, 84, of 127 Blackburn Drive, died Sunday, April 29, 2001, at Cleveland Regional Medical Center.
The funeral will be Tuesday at 2:30 p.m. at Bethany Baptist Church, with the Rev. Douglas Ramsey officiating. Burial will be in Grover Cemetery.
The family will receive friends tonight from 7 to 8:30 at Harris Funeral Home in Kings Mountain.

Ruth Campbell
SHELBY - Miss Ruth Evelyn Campbell, 86, of Century Care Rest Home, died Saturday, April 28, 2001, at Cleveland Regional Medical Center.
Born in Cleveland County, she was a daughter of the late John Careon Campbell and Julie Belle Grayson Campbell.
She was a lifetime member of Union Baptist Church. She had worked as cafeteria manager at Jefferson Elementary School.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by several nieces and nephews.
She is survived by three sisters, Beatrice Campbell Lee and Margaret Campbell Hubbard of Lawndale and Bessie Campbell Robinson of Slater.
The funeral will be Tuesday at 2 p.m. at Union Baptist Church, with the Revs. Michael Shumate and Max Burgin officiating. The body will be placed in the church 30 minutes before the service. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
The family will receive friends at the church after the service.
Lutz-Austell Funeral Home is handling arrangements.

Russell Cobb
FOREST CITY - Mr. Russell Cobb, 81, died Sunday, April 29, 2001, at his home.
The funeral will be Tuesday at 11 a.m. at Pleasant Grove United Methodist Church, with the Rev. Bob Clinard officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
The family will receive friends tonight from 7 to 9 at Harrelson Funeral Home in Caroleen.

Mary Hambright
GROVER - Miss Mary Lyde Hambright, 87, of Cleveland Avenue, died Sunday, April 29, 2001, at Kings Mountain Hospital.
Born in Cleveland County, she was the daughter of the late Belle Peters and Lena Turner Hambright. She was a member of Shiloh Presbyterian Church and a homemaker. Educated in Grover schools, she attended Woman's College, now the University of North Carolina at Greensboro. She worked as secretary and office manager at Lily Mill Co., until she retired. Interested in studying family genealogy and preserving the Hambright family history, she was an active member for many years of the Benjamin Cleveland Chapter, Daughters of the American Revolution, and the Daughters of the Confederacy in Shelby.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a brother, Buford Hambright.
She is survived by a number of cousins.
A memorial service will be held Wednesday at 2 p.m. at Shiloh Presbyterian Church, with the Rev. Nancy Mugford officiating.
The family will receive friends at the church fellowship hall after the service.
Memorials may be made to Shiloh Presbyterian Church, 307 Cleveland Ave., Grover, NC 28073.

Annie Lou Jolley
BOILING SPRINGS - Mrs. Annie Lou Putman Jolley, 97, died Sunday, April 29, 2001, at Crawley Memorial Hospital.
Born in Rutherford County, she was a daughter of the late James Alford and Margaret Jane Owens Putman. She was a homemaker and belonged to Boiling Springs Baptist Church.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Charlie Corbett Jolley.
She is survived by a brother, George Putman of Forest City; a sister, Etta Steadman of Blacksburg, S.C.; and nieces and nephews.
The funeral is today at 2 p.m. at Boiling Springs Baptist Church, with Dr. Carroll Page and the Rev. Reginald Dawkins officiating. The body will be placed in the church one hour before the service. Burial will be in Cleveland Memorial Park.
The family will receive friends at the church one hour before the service.

Dorothy Douglas
BLACKSBURG, S.C. - Mrs. Dorothy Kizziah Douglas, 69, of 180 Bear Creek Road, died Saturday, April 28, 2001, at her home.
A graveside funeral will be held Tuesday at 2 p.m. at Clingman Memorial Gardens, with the Rev. Lucky Earls officiating.
The family will receive friends tonight from 7 to 9 at White Columns Funeral Service in Blacksburg.

Joseph Blanton
SHELBY - Mr. Joseph "Kennon" Blanton Sr., 95, died Saturday, May 12, 2001 at his home.
A native of Cleveland County, he was the son of the late Drury Watson and Ida Pearl Byers Blanton. He was a retired store manager in the furniture industry and was employed for 38 years with Sterchi's Furniture Co. and 18 years with Kester Furniture Co. He was a long - time member of First Baptist Church where he was a past deacon. He was also a member of the Kiwanis Club of Shelby.
In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by many brothers and sisters.
He was survived by his wife of 72 years, Christine Camp Blanton of the home; a son and daughter - in - law, Joseph Kennon and Dean Caul Blanton Jr. of Monroe; a daughter and son - in - law, Delores B. and Raymond Murphrey of Clinton; one sister and brother - in - law, Lucy Mae and Dorman Washam of Gastonia; a brother - in - law, Gordon Justus of Shelby; one sister - in - law, Margaret Dorsey of Shelby; five grandchildren, Carey Murphrey of Cary, Chrissy M. Tyler of Poquoson, Va., Michael Murphrey of Clinton, Kennon Blanton of Monroe and Miranda Blanton of Lenoir; and six great grandchildren.
A graveside service will be today at 11 a.m. at Sunset Cemetery with the Rev. Tony Tench officiating.
Memorials may be made to First Baptist Church, 120 North Lafayete St., Shelby, NC 28150.

Fred A. Tisdale
BOILING SPRINGS, S.C. - Mr. Fred A. Tisdale, 64, of 126 Northbrook St., died Saturday, May 12, 2001, at his home.
A native of Spartanburg County, he was the son of the late Walter and Leona Tisdale. He was a member of Cudd Memorial Baptist Church. He was retired from the Eaton Corporation and was in the Navy.
He survived by his wife, Janet Tisdale of the home; a daughter, Vickie Waters of Spartanburg, S.C.; a son, Robbie Tisdale of Shelby; two brothers, Scott Tisdale of Cowpens, S.C. and Claude Tisdale of Columbia, S.C.; and three grandchildren.
The funeral will be Monday at 2 p.m. at Eggers Funeral Home Chapel in Boiling Springs, S.C., with the Revs. Jack E. Hames and Danny Garrett officiating. Burial will be at Greenlawn Memorial Gardens.
The family received friends Sunday at the funeral home and other times will be at the home.

Edith E. Little
HICKORY - Mrs. Edith Earwood Little, 77, died Saturday, May 12, 2001, at Catawba Memorial Hospital in Hickory.
Born in Lawndale May 19, 1923, she was the daughter of the late Moten and Emma Earwood. She was retired from Krogers of Hickory. She was a member of Bethel United Methodist Church of Hickory. She graduated from Belwood High School in Belwood and then attended Brevard College of Brevard. She has also offered foster care for over 200 children.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Kermit Harold Little; a sister, Annie Mae Ledford; and a brother - in - law, Odes Ledford.
She is survived by six daughters and two sons - in - law, Anna and Mack Biddix and Carolyn Lewis, all of Longview, Diane Lewis of Conover, Alisa and Jerry Hartsoe of Hickory, Teresa Bailey of Kings Mountain, and Sherri Canipe of Vale; a son, Andy Scaglione of Hickory; two sisters and two brothers - in - law, Doris and Wallace Vinesett of Shelby and Nellie and Ben Allen of Madison, Fla.; five brothers and four sisters - in - law, Paul and Margie Earwood, Frank and Peggy Earwood, Joseph and Frances Earwood and Don Earwood, all of Shelby, and Walter and Mae Earwood of Kittery, Maine; 17 grandchildren; one great grandchild; nieces and nephews; and great nieces and nephews.
The funeral will be Tuesday at 2 p.m. at Catawba Funeral Home Chapel in Hickory with the Rev. Charles Stevens officiating. Burial will follow at Catawba Memorial Park in Hickory.
The family will receive friends tonight from 6:30 to 8 at the funeral home.

RUTHERFORDTON - Mr. Carl D. Harris, 73, of Big Island Road, died Sunday, May 13, 2001, at Rutherford Hospital.
A graveside service will be Tuesday at 3 p.m. at Sunset Memorial Park with the Rev. Faye Walker officiating.
The family will receive friends tonight from 7 to 9 at Harrelson Funeral Home in Caroleen.

Beverlyn Evans
GROVER - Mrs. Beverlyn Marie Annette Hall Evans, 34, of 123 Jetter Road, died Tuesday, May 8, 2001, at Mercy Hospital, Charlotte.
She was born March 5, 1967, the daughter of Margie Smith and Willard Hall. She attended King's College in Charlotte and worked at Fasco for 12 years. She belonged to Light Oak Baptist Church and was in the Light Oak Baptist Sunday School Department.
In addition to her parents, she is survived by her husband, Nathan Maurice Evans Sr.; one son, Nathan Maurice Evans Jr.; one daughter, Montesha Sherelle Evans; mother - in - law and father - in - law, Nathaniel and Joyce Evans; two brothers, Christopher Hall and Jayson Hall; two sisters, Veronica "Ronnie" Smith and Kimbra Hall; two sisters - in - law, Donna Evans - Gidney and Katrina Evans; and many aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews, a great - niece and a great - nephew.
The funeral will be Saturday at 2 p.m. at Shiloh Baptist Church, with the Rev. Willie D. Wray officiating. Burial will be in Webb Memorial Lawns.
The family will receive friends at the church 30 minutes before the service.

Albert Voegele
CINCINNATI - Mr. Albert C. Voegele, 86, died Wednesday, May 9, 2001.
A World War II veteran, he was a 50 - year member of the Columbia Lodge No. 44, a member of Marvin Chapter OES No. 376 and past High Priest of Price Hill Chapter No. 164.
He is survived by his wife, Viola Herrmann Voegele; two daughters, Carol Ann Treharne and Terry A. (Patti) Voegele; a dear friend, Tom Wood; two granddaughters, Katherine Treharne and Ashley Voegele; two grandsons, Daniel Treharne and Nicholas Voegele; a brother, Thelma Dieckmann; and many nieces and nephews.
Visitation and the funeral service will be held today at the Neidhard - Minges Funeral Home.

LINCOLNTON - Mrs. Betty Sanders Poston Carlton, 72, of 1169 Timberlane Drive, died Thursday, May 10, 2001, at Lincoln Medical Center.
Born in Fairfield County, S.C., she was preceded in death by her parents, Morse and Dora Sanders Poston; a brother, Morse William Poston Jr.; and a sister, Hattie Branham.
She is survived by her husband, Calvin Carlton of the home; two sons and daughters - in - law, Clifford Sanders and Donna Carlton of Shelby and Richard Sidney and Janice Carlton of Lincolnton; one brother, Lawrence Poston of Concord; five sisters, Helen Mincey of York, S.C., Doris Smith, Rebecca Medlin and Sandra Ramsey, all of Winnsboro, S.C., and Nancy Boone of Kannapolis; a grandson, Richard Carlton; a great - grandchild, Caleb Goss; two granddaughters and a grandson - in - law, Cayla Carlton and Jennifer Carlton and Aron Goss.
The funeral will be Saturday at 4:30 p.m. at First Presbyterian Church, with the Rev. Marcus Prince III officiating. Burial will be in Hollybrook Cemetery.
The family will receive friends tonight from 6:30 to 8:30 at Warlick Funeral Home.

"Jack" Goforth
LAWNDALE - Mr. John Freeman "Jack" Goforth, 66, of 110 Peter Key Road, died Tuesday, May 8, 2001, at Cleveland Regional Medical Center.
Born June 5, 1949, in Cowpens, S.C., he was the son of the late Freeman and Rose Wood Goforth. He was a member of Clover Hill Lodge No. 10. He retired from Hickory Springs Manufacturing Co. after 43 years.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Roy Goforth and Brodus Goforth; a sister, Clementine Surratt; and a great - grandchild.
He is survived by his wife, Kathleen Jackson Goforth; six daughters, Kathy Goforth of Lawndale, Debbie Hall of Shelby, Anita G. (Danny) Williams of Cherryville, Lillian (Kenneth) Parker of Atlanta, Janet (Thomasine) Parks and Connie Odoms of Shelby; three sons, Wayne Thompson of Lawndale, Ricky Thompson of Shelby and Michael Geter of Hickory; 18 grandchildren; and nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
The funeral will be Saturday at 3 p.m. at Christ Temple Apostolic Church in Shelby, with Dr. Louis McDowell officiating. Burial will be in Webb Memorial Lawns.
The family will receive friends at the church 30 minutes before the service.

Bobby D. Willis
SHELBY - Mr. Bobby Dale Willis, 62, of 416 Washburn Switch Road, died Thursday, May 10, 2001, at his home.
Born April 8, 1939, in Cleveland County, he was a son of Lula Mae Sweezy Willis of Shelby, and the late Ralph Willis. He was a member of Bethel Baptist Church in Shelby. He retired as a creel tender with PPG Industries.
In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by three brothers.
In addition to his mother, he is survived by his wife, Faye Hudson Willis; a son and daughter - in - law, Joe and Diane Hudson of Cherryville; a daughter and son - in - law, Darlene and Gerrie Morrison of Earl; five brothers, Phillip Willis of Vale and Randy Willis, Gene Willis, Larry Willis and Boyd Willis, all of Casar; two grandsons, Jimmy Hudson and Robert Morrison; and a granddaughter, Crystal Morrison.
The funeral will be Saturday at noon at Bethel Baptist Church in Shelby, with the Rev. Larry Franks officiating. The body will be placed in the church 30 minutes before the service. Burial will be in St. Paul Baptist Church Cemetery in Casar.
The family will receive friends tonight from 6 to 8 at Stamey Funeral Home in Fallston.
