LINCOLNTON - Mr. Darryl Juan Izard Sr., 34, of 860 Car Farm Road, died Saturday, May 26, 2001.
The funeral will be today at 3 p.m. at Hinton Memorial United Methodist Church with Dr. Vera Rivens officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
The family received friends Wednesday.

Irene Porter
SHELBY - Mrs. Irene Porter, 70, of 1551 Hilltop Drive, died Monday, May 28, 2001, at Crawley Memorial Hospital in Boiling Springs.
A native of Loris, S.C., she was the daughter of the late T.M. and Dalma Duncan Lewis. She retired from Doran Mill and was a member of Wallace Grove Baptist Church.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two brothers, J.S. Lewis and T.D. Lewis.
She is survived by her husband, Earl Porter of the home; three daughters and sons - in - law, Wilma and Wray Spurling and Alisa and Chuck Rinehart, all of Shelby, and Sandra and Roger Self of Plant City, Fla.; one son, Dale Porter of Shelby; two sisters, Shelby Porter of Hickory and Earlene Gasque of Nichols, S.C.; three brothers, Bonnie Lewis of Nichols, S.C., Donnie Lewis of Pensacola, Fla., and Jimmy Lewis of Shelby; seven grandchildren, Keena Spurling, Eric Spurling, Devan Sisk and Brent Rinehart, all of Shelby, Chad Rinehart of Chapel Hill and Zachary Self and Logan Self, both of Plant City; and one great - grandchild, Elijah Spurling.
The funeral is today at 11 a.m. at Wallace Grove Baptist Church with the Rev. Mac Hyder officiating. Burial will be in Cleveland Memorial Park.
The family receive friends Wednesday at Clay-Barnette Funeral Home and at other times will be at the home.

Janice Petty
HICKORY - Mrs. Janice Sue Elmore Petty, 44, of 5557 Viewcourt Park S.E., died Thursday, May 24, 2001, at Broughton Hospital.
A native of Cleveland County, she was born June 5, 1956, the daughter of the late Ernest Jr. and Geneva Morgan Elmore. She was a member of First Baptist Church. She graduated from Shelby High School and attended Morris Hill College. She was a housewife.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two aunts, Mamie E.Walker and Nannie E. Haynes.
She is survived by her husband, Abel Petty Sr. of Shelby; one son, Abel Petty Jr. of Hickory; stepmother, Agnes Ellis Elmore of Shelby; four brothers, Anthony W. Ellis, Earnest Matthew Elmore III and Walter B. Elmore, all of Shelby, and Rodney E. Elmore of Germany; one aunt, Vernice Elmore Cannon of Shelby; one special cousin, Faye Walker Butler of Hickory; and nieces and nephews.
The funeral will be Friday at 1 p.m. in Dennis Alvin Memorial Chapel of Allen Mitchell Funeral Home in Hickory with Dr. Webster E. Lytle officiating. Burial will be in Southside Cemetery.
The family will receive friends an hour before the service at the funeral home.

FOREST CITY - Mrs. Geraldine "Jerry" Blanton Johnson, 70, of Forest City, died Wednesday, May 30, 2001, at Willow Ridge of N.C. in Rutherfordton.
The funeral will be Friday at 3 p.m. at Harrelson Funeral Home, Caroleen, with the Rev. James Daves officiating. Burial will be in Oak Grove United Methodist Church Cemetery.
The family will receive friends an hour before the service at the funeral home.

Ruby Hawk
CLEVELAND, Ohio - Mrs. Ruby Wilkins Hawk, of 1824 Wadena Ave., Cleveland, died Monday, May 28, 2001, at her residence.
A native of Cliffside, she was the daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. John Wilkins and was a member of Euclid Avenue Congregational Church.
She is survived by her husband, Joe B. Hawk, and her brother - in - law and sister - in - law, Mr. and Mrs. Thomas Hawk of Shelby.
The funeral will be Friday at 2 p.m. at Euclid Avenue Congregational Church in Cleveland.

LINCOLNTON - Mr. Vilous Bronson Edwards, 65, of 742 High Shoals Road, died Tuesday, May 29, 2001, at Gaston Memorial Hospital.
The funeral will be Friday at 11 a.m. in the Colonial Chapel of Carothers Funeral Home, Gastonia.
Burial will be in High Shoals Memorial Cemetery.

KINGS MOUNTIAN - Ms. Virginia Ruth Owens, 60, of 100 Ada St., died Tuesday, May 29, 2001, at her home.

Jimmy Logan
LAKE LURE - Mr. Jimmy O. Logan, 70, of Bills Creek Road, died Saturday, May 26, 2001, at Rutherford Hospital.
The funeral will be today at 2 p.m. at Mount Nebo Baptist Church with the Rev. Gladys Logan officiating. The body will be placed in the church an hour before the service. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

Uzza Parker
KINGS MOUNTAIN - Mr. Uzza Parker, 85, of 319 Industrial Drive, died Wednesday, May 30, 2001 at his residence.
A native of York County, S.C., he was born Aug. 2, 1915, the son of the late the Rev. John Robert and Mackanna Smith Parker. He was a truck driver and driller for Foote Mineral Mining Co. and served during World War II. He was a member of St. Paul United Methodist Church where he served as a trustee, leader of the choir, chairman of the Finance Committee, assistant Sunday school superintendent and lay speaker. He was also a member of the American Legion Post No. 338 and D.A. McKay Lodge No. 584, PHA, where he was a past master; Charity Chapter No. 548, Order of the Eastern Star, where he was a patron, and Cleveland Consistory No. 122
He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Pauline Washburn Parker; brother Leander Parker; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
The funeral will be Sunday at 3 p.m. at St. Paul United Methodist Church with the Rev. Clarence Wright officiating. Burial will be in Mountain Rest Cemetery.
The family will receive friends 30 minutes before the service at the church.

'Zach' Krigbaum
FOREST CITY - Mr. Zachariah "Zach" Krigbaum, 12, of 168 Fox Run, died Thursday, May 31, 2001.
Memorial services will be Sunday at 6 p.m. at Evangel Fellowship Church with the Rev. Roger Gosnell officiating.
The family will receive friends following the service at the Krigbaum home.

Roberta Clark
RUTHERFORDTON - Mrs. Roberta Boydston Clark, 72, of 335 Butcher Hollar Road, formerly of Candler, died Thursday, May 31, 2001, at her home.
A native of Haywood County, she was the daughter of the late James B. Sr. and Verda Burkhart Boydston.
In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by four brothers, Lloyd C. Boydston, Claude C. Boydston, Carlos L. Boydston and Arthur Boydston; and two sisters, Dorothy B. Thompson and Ruby Boydston.
She is survived by her husband, Charles G. Clark; one daughter and son - in - law, Cathy and Harold Poe of Shelby; one son and daughter - in - law, Jeff and Karen Clark of Rutherfordton; two grandsons, Jeffrey Clark and Jason Clark; and one brother, James B. Boydston Jr. of Trenton, Ga.
The graveside service will be Sunday at 2 p.m. at Forest Lawn Memorial Park in Enka with the Rev. Phillip Hurst officiating.
The family will receive friends tonight from 7 to 8:30 at Wells Funeral Home of Canton and at other times at the home of Jeff and Karen Clark, 387 Butcher Hollar Road, Rutherfordton.

FOREST CITY - Mr. Darby Lee Mullinax, 27, of 2384 Jack McKinney Road, died Thursday, May 31, 2001, in Hendersonville.
The funeral will be Sunday at 2 p.m. in the chapel of Crowe's Funeral Home in Rutherfordton with the Revs. Eddie Russell and Ken Souder officiating. Burial will be Monday at 11 a.m. at Mountain Rest Cemetery in Kings Mountain.

Euzelia Porter
CHERRYVILLE - Mrs. Euzelia McSwain Porter, 84, of 1238 Black Road, died Thursday, May 31, 2001, at her home.
A native of Cleveland County, she was the daughter of the late Oliver and Maggie Black McSwain. She was a member o f Mount Zion Baptist Church, where she was a member of the Keenagers, Faith Sunday School class, a substitute Sunday school teacher and a former member of the choir. She retired from Dora Yarn Mill after 31 years of service.
In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by seven brothers.
She is survived by her husband of 65 years, Henry Lee Porter of the home; two sons and daughters - in - law, Don and Sandra Porter of Cherryville and Jerry and Carol Porter of Lincolnton; three daughters and sons - in - law, Carolyn and Jacob Rhyne of Dallas, Frances and Ralph Kiser and Terri and Rick Childers, all of Cherryville; one brother, Alvin McSwain of Cherryville; best friend, Alene Fisher of Cherryville; 13 grandchildren; 18 great - grandchildren; and one great - great - grandchild.
The funeral will be Sunday at 3 p.m. at Mount Zion Baptist Church with the Rev. Wayne Key officiating. The body will be place in the church 30 minutes before the service. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
The family will receive friends tonight from 6:30 to 8:30 at the church and at other times at the home.

Joseph Lewis Jr.
GROVER - Joseph Lee Lewis Jr., 17, of 1204 Bethlehem Road, died Wednesday, May 30, 2001.
A native of Cleveland County, he was the son of Joseph Lewis and Debora Jeffeirs Lewis. He was a rising junior at Kings Mountain High School and a member and musician at St. Peter Missionary Baptist church.
In addition to his parents, he is survived by a sister, Renata A. Jeffeirs of the home; grandparents, Gainell Toms and Edward Jeffeirs of Grover, Louvenia Lewis of Joneboro, AK; uncles Daris Jeffeiers of Gastonia, Reese Lewis Jr., Jerry Lewis and his wife, Sheila, and Sammy Lee Lewis, all of Joneboro; aunts, Lee Ellar Wark of Jacksonville, AK, Melba Jean Lewis, Kelly Tayor and Cornelius Taylor of Joneboro; a special friend, Tameeka Burris of Gastonia; best friends, O'Neal Curry and Charles Accor Jr.; special cousins, Courty Petty, Javan Bell and Alice Bell of Grover, Cornell A. Taylor of Joneboro; and many other great - aunts, uncles and cousins.
The funeral will be Sunday at 3 p.m. at St. Peter Missionary Baptist Church with the Revs. John Houze and William Thompson officiating.
Burial will be in the church cemetery.

SHELBY - Mrs. Essie Moses Jones Tesseneer, 77, of 112 Delaware Drive, died Thursday, May 31, 2001, at Cleveland Regional Medical Center.
A native of Cleveland County, she was born April 7, 1924, the daughter of the late John Cain "Hub" and Ada Towery Moses. She was a homemaker and a member of Wallace Grove Baptist Church.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband, Oscar Jones; four brothers; and one sister.
She is survived by her husband, William Burton "Bill" Tesseneer; one son and daughter - in - law, Roy and Brenda Jones of Shelby; two daughters and sons - in - law, Ola Mae and Gene Seagle of Lawndale and Etta and Bob Chadwick of Shelby; one brother, Blaine Moses of Hickory; one sister, Jennie Hudson of Casar; four grandchildren; seven great - grandchildren; five stepgrandchildren; 12 stepgreat - grandchildren; and three stepgreat - great - grandchildren.
The funeral will be Sunday at 2 p.m. at Stamey Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Lero Hudson officiating. Burial will be in Sunset Cemetery.
The family will receive friends tonight from 6:30 to 8 at the funeral home.

Vickie Gray
GREENVILLE, S.C. - Mrs. Vickie Lail Gray, 43, of 20 Woodville Ave., died Wednesday, May 30, 2001.
A native of Greenville, she was the daughter of Everette M. Lail and the late Vergie Patterson Lail. She was a member of the Overbrook Baptist Church. She was an advocate of the organ donation program.
She is survived by her husband, Jim Hardwick Jr.; one son, Lonnie Everette Crymes of Greenville; two sisters, Gay Davis of Greenville and Brenda Mullikin of Mauldin; five nephews; one niece; and three special aunts, Frances Wright and Ethel Hord, both of Shelby, and Aileen Cox of Abbeville, S.C.
The funeral was Friday at Mackey Mortuary with Dr. Kenneth Lance officiating. Burial was in East North Street Church Cemetery.

Judith Causby
SHELBY - Mrs. Judith Hope McNeely Causby, 55, of 5104 Canterbury Road, died Thursday, May 31, 2001, at Cleveland Regional Medical Center.
A native of Cleveland County, she was the daughter of Audrey Hope Gantt and the late Rayford Clint McNeely. She was the founder of Fat Boys Tire and an assembler at Fasco.
In addition to her father, she was preceded in death by one daughter, Kimberly Jane Blanton Russ; and one grandson, Caleb Jackson Tenney.
In addition to her mother, she is survived by her husband, Larry Gene Causby; one son Larry Clint Causby of Shelby; one daughter, Lyn McNeely Tenney of Shelby; two brothers, Mick McNeely of Charlotte and Jim McNeely of Morganton; and nine grandchildren, Joseph Colt Tenney, Cameron Wray Ledbetter, Steven Clint Causby, Larry Kenneth Causby and Summer Anne Causby, all Shelby, and Keeley Hope, Kaitlyn Grace, Claudia McNeely Russ and Miranda Alyssa Russ.
The memorial service will be Sunday at 4 p.m. in the chapel of Lutz-Austell Funeral Home with the Rev. Bill Pheagin officiating.
The family will receive friends Sunday two hours before the service at the funeral home and after 5 p.m. today at the home of Lyn McNeely Tenney of 913 Eastview St. in Shelby.

Juan Hickson
SHELBY - Juan Edward Hickson, three days old, of 514 Gardner St., died Thursday, May 31, 2001, at Carolinas Medical Center in Charlotte.
A graveside service will be today at 9:30 a.m. at Long Branch Baptist Church with the Rev. Larry Dixon officiating.

Trent Stewart
CHERRYVILLE - Trent Thomas Stewart, 19, of 1285 Pearl Drive, died Saturday, June 2, 2001.
The funeral will be Monday at 11 a.m. at First United Methodist Church with the Revs. Perry Holleman and Nathan May officiating. The body will be placed in the church one hour before the service. Burial will be in Cherryville Memorial Cemetery.

David Lail
MOORESBORO - Mr. David Wayne Lail, 36, of 104 Trinity Church Road, died Saturday, June 2, 2001, at his home.
A native of Cleveland County, he was the son of Ned and Patricia "Pat" Lane Lail of Mooresboro. He was vice president of Vision Electric of Charlotte. He served in the United States Marine Corps and was a member of Cornerstone Fellowship.
In addition to his parents, he is survived by his wife, Carol Chisholm Lail of the home; a son, Matthew Lail of the home; a brother, Tim Lail of Mooresboro; and two nieces, Erica Lail and Sydney Lail.
The funeral will be Tuesday at 3 p.m. at Liberty Baptist Church with the Revs. Owen Duncan and Mike Snelgrove officiating. Burial with military rites will be in the church cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. Monday at McKinney-Landreth Funeral Home, Cliffside.

LOWELL - Mr. Robert Thomas Bolick, 59, of 417 S. Church St., died Friday, June 1, 2001, at Gaston Memorial Hospital.
The funeral will be Monday at 3 p.m. at First Baptist Church of Lowell with the Rev. Ken Cobb and Dr. Randy Godwin officiating. Burial will be in Gaston Memorial Park with full Masonic rites.

Joseph Pruitt
SHELBY - Mr. Joseph Thomas Pruitt, 76, of Autumn Care in Forest City and formerly of Shelby, died Friday, June 1, 2001, at Carolinas Medical Center in Charlotte.
A native of Lincoln County, he was born on July 1, 1924, the son of the late Garfield and Barbara Ivester Pruitt. He was retired from the North Carolina Department of Transportation and was a farmer. He was a member of Buffalo Baptist Church in Cherryville.
In addition to his parents he is preceded in death by his wife, Margaret Heavner Pruitt.
He is survived by a brother, John Pruitt of Mooresville; a sister, Myrtle Pendleton of Lincolnton; a number of nieces and nephews; and a special niece, Helen Sue McKinney.
The funeral will be Monday at 2 p.m. at Buffalo Baptist Church with the Rev. Max Turner officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
The family will receive friends today at Carpenter's Funeral Home from 6 to 8 p.m.
