FOREST CITY - Mr. Roy Monroe Greene, 57, of 190 Sunnyside St., died Tuesday, July 20, 1999, at his residence.
The funeral will be Thursday at 2 p.m. at Liberty Baptist Church with the Revs. Owen Duncan and Ricky Poteat officiating. Burial will follow at the church cemetery.

Henry "Lee Bone" Jones
SHELBY - Mr. Henry Lee "Lee Bone" Jones, 37, of 1014 Toms St., died Monday, July 19, 1999, at Carolinas Medical Center in Charlotte.
A native of Cleveland County, he was born on July 20, 1961, the son of the late John Hubert and Eddie Mae Williams Jones. He was a member of First Baptist Church of Lawndale. He graduated from Shelby High School.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one sister, Vera "Lucy" Jones; four brothers, James E. Jones, Roosevelt Jones, John H. Jones Jr. and Bobby Jones; and one nephew, Lawrence Webber Jr.
He is survived by three sisters, Mary Alice Webber and Carolyn Dawkins, both of Shelby and Johnnie Mae Wimbush of Hickory; four brothers, Andrew Jones and Roger Jones, both of Shelby, Calvin Jones of Gastonia and Toney Jones of Maiden; and many other friends and relatives.
The funeral will be Thursday at 3 p.m. at Mobley's Chapel with the Revs. Billy D. Houze and Charles A. Turner officiating. Burial will follow at Webb Memorial Lawns.
The family will receive friends Thursday 30 minutes before the service at the funeral home.
Lois Pass
ORLANDO, Fla. - Mrs. Lois Briggs Pass, 86, of 4748 Sudbury St., formerly of 308 Wilson St., Shelby, died Sunday, July 4, 1999 in Orlando, Fla.
A native of Clinton, S.C., she was the daughter of the late Frank and Sallie Jones Briggs. She was retired from the Cleveland County School System, where she was a teacher for 40 years. She was a member of Durham United Methodist Church, where she sang in the Women's Chancel Choir. She was a Salvation Army volunteer, and a member of the National Education Association, the Bridgettes and an original member of the Heaven Bound Pageant. She was a Winston Salem State Alumnus.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Ted Pass Sr.
She is survived by one son, Ted Pass Jr. of Santa Monica, Calif.; two daughters and one son-in-law, Linda Pass and John Flower of Orlando and Janet Brown of Shelby; one brother, John Briggs of Forest City; two sisters, Nancy Ryce of Spindale and Mae Anderson of Lincolnton; six grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
The funeral will be Saturday at 2 p.m. at Durham United Methodist Church with the Rev. Roger Hunter officiating. Burial will follow at Cleveland Memorial Park.

Willie Mae Youngblood
LAWNDALE - Mrs. Willie Mae Vinson Fullove Youngblood, 83, of 3603 Rube Spangler Road, died Tuesday, July 20, 1999, at her residence.
She was the daughter of the late Hosley Henry and Lena Purifoey Vinson. She was a homemaker. She also worked for Century Furniture for 28 years. She was a member of White Oak Springs Baptist Church and Heroines of Jericho, Saint Marion's Court, No. 6.
She is survived by her husband, Ray Youngblood of Lawndale; three daughters and sons-in-law, Annie Mae Fullove and C.B. Boykins of Kingstown, Maria Fullove and Nathaniel Jennings and Fannie Louise Fullove and Melton Carson, all of Connelly Springs; and one brother and sister-in-law, Joseph and Vermel Vinson of Valdese.
The funeral will be Saturday at 3 p.m. at Lawndale First Baptist Church with the Rev. Gene Pryor officiating. Burial will follow at White Oak Springs Baptist Church Cemetery in Ellenboro.
The family will receive friends Saturday 30 minutes before the service at the church.

Elinor Drake
CHARLOTTE - Mrs. Elinor Hopper Tyner Drake, 66, died Tuesday, July 20, 1999.
A native of Shelby, she was born on April 13, 1933, the daughter of the late Alton Marion and Elva Sneed Hopper. She graduated from Shelby High School in 1951 and was presented in the Shelby Debutante Ball the same year. She attended the University of North Carolina at Greensboro. She was the editor of the Society page of The Shelby Daily Star and later worked for Federal Paper Board Company in Charlotte. She was a member of several bridge clubs. She was a lifelong member of First Baptist Church in Shelby.
She is survived by one son and daughter-in-law, David Hampton and Karen Tyner of Spartanburg, S.C.; one daughter, E. Kyle Tyner of Charlotte; one brother and sister-in-law, Alton Marion Jr. and Sue Morris Hopper of Charlotte.
A graveside service will be Friday at 11 a.m. at Cleveland Memorial Park.
The family will receive friends tonight from 7 to 8:30 at Cecil M. Burton Funeral Home.

CLIFFSIDE - Mr. William Gordon Thomas, 66, of 5799 Highway 221-A, died Wednesday, July 21, 1999, at Rutherford Hospital.
A native of Rutherford County, he was the son of the late John Samuel and Lydia Honeycutt Thomas. He was a retired magistrate for Rutherford County. He was an auxiliary member of the Rutherford County Rescue Squad and a member of Lavonia Baptist Church.
He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Betty McCraw Thomas; one son and daughter-in-law, Michael and Judy Thomas of Cliffside; one daughter and son-in-law, Deborah and Eddie Hill of Cliffside; one sister, Mrs. Stella Jolley of Chesnee, S.C.; three grandchildren, Heather Hill, Resa Thomas and Holly Thomas; and many nieces and nephews.
The funeral will be Friday at 3 p.m. at Lavonia Baptist Church with the Revs. Jack Pennington and David Jones officiating. Burial will follow at Cliffside Cemetery.

KINGS MOUNTAIN - Mrs. Janice McGinnis Stewart, 52, of 227-I Farris Road, died Wednesday, July 21, 1999, at her residence.
A native of Gaston County, she was the daughter of the late John C. McGinnis. She was a member of Evangel Assembly of God in Gastonia where she served as former president of Womens Ministries. She was a former employee of Turbo Conveyer in Kings Mountain.
She was preceded in death by a brother-in-law.
She is survived by her husband, Mike Stewart of Kings Mountain; one son, Corky Scalingi of Gastonia; two daughters and one son-in-law, Tina Scalingi and Eric Hoyle of Casar and Cindy Fox of Mount Holly; her mother and step-father, Christine Howe and Laban Earney of Gastonia; two sisters and one brother-in-law, Pat and Allen Mantooth of Bessemer City and Kathy Lovelace of Grover; and five grandchildren, Tyler Wood, Promise Conner, Heather Ferguson, Jeremy Ferguson and Katie Taylor.

A native of Cleveland County, he was the son of the late L.G. Bowen. He had retired as a pilot with U.S. Air. He was a member of First Baptist Church.
He is survived by his mother, Katherine Hubbard Bowen of Shelby; one son and daughter-in-law, Rick and Laurie Bowen of Gaffney, S.C.; one brother, James L. Bowen of Shelby; and one granddaughter, Alexandra Bowen.
A graveside service will be held Saturday at 1 p.m. at Cleveland Memorial Park with Dr. Gene Watterson officiating.

SHELBY - Mr. Lawrence Dean Sailors, 62, of 2004 Barker St., died Wednesday, July 21, 1999, at Cleveland Regional Medical Center.
A native of Cleveland County, he was the son of the late John Ernest Sr. and Anna Mae Hollifield Sailors. He was retired from Duke Power Company, Catawba Nuclear Station. He was a member of New Hope Baptist Church where he was a choir member, a deacon, a former Sunday school superintendent, a member of the New Hope Men's Quartet and involved in the shut-in tape ministry. He was a member of the Senior Center and the No. 3 Ruritan Club. He had served in the Army.
He is survived by his wife, Shirley Ann Francis Sailors; two sons, Derek Sailors and Gregory Sailors, both of the home; and two brothers, J.E. Sailors of Vale and Jim Sailors of Cliffside; and eight sisters, Joyce Arrowood of Cliffside, Evelyn Goode of Boiling Springs, Lavonda Pleasant of Alexander Mills, Kathy McLoskey and Marilyn Hubbard, both of Shelby, Patsy Holland of Henrietta, Rosemary Barkley of Maiden and Ann Faircloth of Denver, N.C.
The funeral will be Saturday at 4 p.m. at New Hope Baptist Church with the Rev. David Gordon officiating. The body will be placed in the church 30 minutes before the service. Burial will follow at the church cemetery.

A native of Cleveland County, she was the daughter of the late Leonard Olen and Essie Lee Davis Piercy. She was retired from J.P. Stevens as a cloth inspector. She was a member of New Bethel Church of the Nazarene.
She was preceded in death by one sister, Frances Howell Matheson.
She is survived by her husband, Robert Alston Dawson of the home; two daughters and sons-in-law, Robin and Kenneth Cash and Debbie and Mark Melton, all of Shelby; two sisters and brothers-in-law, Gaynell and Donald Vaughan and Diane and Ralph Lail, both of Shelby; four grandsons, Chris Phillips, David Phillips, Tyler Melton and Austin Cash; and many nieces and nephews.
The funeral will be Saturday at 10:30 a.m. at Clay-Barnette Funeral Home Chapel with the Revs. Reed Jones and Barry Goodman. Burial will follow at Sunset Cemetery.
