Geneva Elmore
SHELBY - Mrs. Geneva Morgan Elmore, 87, of 1326 Concord St., died Friday, Nov. 5, 1999, at Shelby Manor.
A native of Cleveland County, she was born Aug. 11, 1912, the daughter of Ella Kee Morgan of Shelby and the late Walter Morgan.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Ernest Elmore Sr.; one son, Ernest Elmore Jr.; two daughters, Mamie E. Walker and Nannie E. Haynes; five brothers, Nesbit Morgan, Minuel Morgan, the Rev. MacDaniel Morgan, John Edward Morgan and William Morgan; and three sisters, Nora M. Hopper, Julie M. Huskey and Nanie M. Morehead.
In addition to her mother, who is 106 years old, she is survived by one daughter, Vernice Cannon of the home; one sister, Helen M. Woods of Shelby; one brother, Walter Lee Morgan of Charlotte; one daughter-in-law, Agnes Ellis Elmore; 13 grandchildren; and additional great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
The funeral will be today at 3 p.m. at Genesis Funeral Chapel, 413 Weathers St., Shelby, with the Rev. Lawrence Roseboro officiating.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home 30 minutes before the service, and at other times at the home.
Eugene Martin
GROVER - Mr. Eugene Floid Martin, 77, of 1124 Lavender Road, died Sunday, Nov. 7, 1999, at Cleveland Regional Medical Center.
A native of Cleveland County, he was born on Sept. 12, 1922, the son of the late Brian and Mary Sue Rippy Martin. He was founder and owner of Martin Jacquard Service, Inc. He was a member of Bethany Baptist Church, where he was a deacon. He was a Navy veteran, who served in World War II in the Philippines.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one brother, C.L. Martin.
He is survived by his wife, Pearl Queen Martin of the home; one son and daughter-in-law, Don and Sandy Martin of Grover; one daughter and son-in-law, Betty and Jerry Bishop of Shelby; one brother and sister-in-law, Kenneth and Irene Martin of Greenville, S.C.; three grandsons, Michael Dendy and Jeremy Martin, both of Grover and Phillip Dendy and his wife, Wendy, of Lawndale; two granddaughters and their husbands, Charlene and David Barnette of Grover and Tonya and Brad Coleman of Shelby; and four great-grandchildren, Brooklyn Webb, Jeremy Reynolds, Connor Dendy and Joshua Martin.
The funeral will be Tuesday at 2 p.m. at Bethany Baptist Church with the Revs. Douglas Ramsey and Neil Efrid officiating. The body will be placed in the church 30 minutes before the service. Burial will follow at Cleveland Memorial Park.
The family will receive friends tonight from 7 to 8:30 at Clay-Barnette Funeral Home, and other times at the residence.

BOSTIC - Mrs. Effie Jones, 75, of 617 Jonestown Road, died Monday, Nov. 8, 1999 at her residence.

Debra Floyd
SHELBY - Mrs. Debra Hartley Floyd, 43, of 902 Hampton St., died Wednesday, Nov. 3, 1999, at Presbyterian Hospital in Charlotte.
A native of Cleveland County, she was born July 5, 1956, the daughter of Eula H. Hartley of Shelby and the late Cline Hartley. She was a homemaker and a member of Zoar Baptist Church.
She is survived by her husband, James Lee Floyd Sr. of the home; two sons, James Lee Floyd Jr. and David Christopher Floyd, both of the home; one daughter and son-in-law, Melinda and Chris Gillespie of Waco; one brother and sister-in-law, Mike and Linda Hartley of Morganton; one sister and brother-in-law, Jean and Gilbert Greene of Shelby; one grandson, Tyler Philbeck; and one granddaughter, Jessica Floyd.
The funeral will be today at 3 p.m. at Zoar Baptist Church with Dr. Marvin Gobble and the Rev. Dan Jolly officiating. The body will be placed in the church 30 minutes before the service. Burial will follow at Cleveland Memorial Park.
The family received friends Friday at Clay-Barnette Funeral Home. The family will also be receiving friends at 1327 S. Hampton St., Shelby and the residence.
James Green
SHELBY - Mr. James Charles Green, 78, of 1204 S. Morgan St., died Thursday, Nov. 4, 1999, at Vencor Greensboro in Greensboro.
A native of Cleveland County, he was a son of the late Thurman Luther and Liza Wilson Green. He was retired from the city of Shelby maintenance department, and was former owner of G&G Tire Service. He was a former member of Woodmen of the World. He was a Navy veteran who served in the Seabees during World War II.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Bertie Patterson Green; one daughter, Doris Dean Goodson; and one brother, Yates Green.
He is survived by two sons and their wives, Charles and Trudy Green and Mike and Judy Green, all of Shelby; one daughter, Hilda McCarthy of Shelby; four sisters, Vernie Bowen, Betty Edwards, Eva Wease and Margaret Green, all of Shelby; seven grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
The funeral will be Sunday at 3 p.m. at Second Baptist Church with the Revs. Reginald Dawkins and Earnest Arnold officiating. The body will be placed in the church 30 minutes before the service. Burial will follow at Sunset Cemetery.
The family will receive friends tonight from 5 to 7 at Lutz-Austell Funeral Home.

Ruth Davidson
SHELBY - Mrs. Ruth Runyans Davidson, 87, of 2251 S. Lafayette St., died Thursday, Nov. 4, 1999, at her residence.
A native of Cleveland County, she was a daughter of the late J.M. "Bun" and Mamie Sepaugh Runyans. She retired from Bost Bakery, where she was a supervisor in the cake department. She was secretary at Zoar Baptist Church where she was a member. She was a member of the Adult Sunday School Class and served in all of the church's organizations. She served as Past Matron for Chapter No. 110, Order of the Eastern Star, where she was a member for 41 years.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by one brother, John M. Runyans; and one sister, Olene Tulloh.
She is survived by her husband, Dan Davidson; two sisters and one brother-in-law, Mary and Pink Poston and Margaret Tolbert, all of Shelby; and many nieces and nephews.
A graveside service will be held today at 4 p.m. at Cleveland Memorial Park with Dr. Marvin Gobble and the Revs. Dan Jolley and David Gordon officiating. The body may be viewed today from 9:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. before the service at Cecil M. Burton Funeral Home.
The family will receive friends today after the service.

ELLENBORO - Mrs. Celia Annette Greene Davenport, 55, died Sunday, Oct. 31, 1999, at Spartanburg (S.C.) Regional Medical Center.
The funeral is today at 2:30 p.m. at Webb First Baptist Church in Ellenboro, with the Rev. Michael Moore officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

Katherine Moffitt
ASHEVILLE - Mrs. Katherine Bryson Moffitt, 80, of 28 Marlowe Drive, died Thursday, Nov. 4, 1999, at Victoria Health Care Center.
A native of Jackson County, she had lived most of her life in Asheville. She was the daughter of the late Thomas "Carter" Bryson and Cordelia Rabb Bryson. She retired from CTS Corp.
She was preceded in death in 1967 by her husband, Flake Shannon Moffitt; and in 1985 by her son, George Shannon Moffitt.
She is survived by two sons, Garry Moffitt of Asheville and Steven Moffitt and his wife, Beverly, of Cherryville; a brother, Sid Oliver Bryson of Morganton; and three grandsons, Shawn Ryan Moffitt of Clearwater, Fla., and Bradley Steven Moffitt and Bryan Vincent Moffitt of Cherryville.
A graveside service will be held Sunday at 3 p.m. at Forest Lawn Memorial Park in Enka, with Dr. Ian Walker officiating.
The family will receive friends at Chapel of Faith from 1:30 to 3 p.m. before the service.

Nellie Weaver
GAFFNEY, S.C. - Mrs. Nellie Cline Weaver, formerly of Asheboro, died Friday, Nov. 5, 1999, in Gaffney, S.C.
A native of Forsyth County (Winston-Salem), she was born Dec. 28, 1906, a daughter of Pleas David and Carrie Henning Cline. She was the widow of Ira J. Weaver, also of Asheboro.
Mrs. Weaver was a longtime member of Central United Methodist Church in Asheboro, where she was a Sunday school teacher and superintendent for 48 years. She also was assistant treasurer and president of W.S.C.S., chairman of the Status of Women W.S.C.S., held life membership in the Western North Carolina Conference, served as a Girl Scout troop leader, and was an honorary member of the Administrative Board of the church.
She was predeceased by seven brothers and sisters. Her surviving brother is Dallas David Cline of Gaffney. A number of nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, great-great-nieces and great-great-nephews also survive.
The funeral will be Monday at 11 a.m. at Central United Methodist Church, with the Rev. Chris Thore officiating, assisted by the Revs. Byron Alexander and Ervin Price of Shelby. Burial will be in Randolph Memorial Park.
The family will receive friends Sunday from 7 to 9 at Pugh Funeral Home in Asheboro.

Erskine Armstrong
ASHEVILLE - Mr. Erskine H. Armstrong, 62, of 18 East Shore Drive, died Wednesday, Nov. 3, 1999, at Mountain Area Hospice Center in Asheville.
A native of Belmont, he was the son of the late William and Jessie Hoffman Armstrong. He was a graduate of Belmont High School and attended Belmont Abbey College. He served in the Air National Guard in Charlotte. He was a former member of the Drum and Bugle Corps of Gastonia and a former member of the Lake Norman Flottias. He worked several years as an indepdent insurance adjuster in Shelby and in Lake Norman.
He is survived by a soul mate, Karen Richman of the home; a daughter, Sheryl A. Myers of Denver, N.C.; two grandchildren; and his former wife, Jeannie Lewis of Lincolnton.
A memorial service will be held Sunday at 3 p.m. at the home of his daughter, 7406 Bankhead Road, Denver, N.C. 28037.

KINGS MOUNTAIN - Mr. John Charles Case, 45, of 814 3rd St., died Wednesday, Nov. 3, 1999, in Washington County, Tenn.
A graveside service will be held Monday at 11 a.m. at Mountain Rest Cemetery, with the Rev. Odas Shelton officiating.

RUTHERFORDTON - Mrs. Grace Henderson Conner, 80, of 731 Dills Road, died Friday, Nov. 5, 1999, at Rutherford Hospital.
A native of Spartanburg County, S.C., she was a daughter of the late Carl F. and Bertha Blackwell Henderson. She was a member of Harriett Memorial Free Will Baptist Church and a retired textile employee.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Burl D. Conner.
She is survived by a son, Leslie Conner of Tega Cay, S.C.; a daughter, Emily Byers of Rutherfordton; sisters, Polly Price and Helen Blackwell of Gaffney, S.C., and Lucille Byers Spake of Forest City; grandchildren, Clinton Byers, Garrett Byers, Kristen Conner, Kelly Conner and Josh Conner; and a step-granddaughter, Heather Summerford.

SHELBY - Miss Myrtle Brite Meacham, 93, of White Oak Manor of Shelby, died Saturday, Nov. 6, 1999, at Cleveland Regional Medical Center.
Born in Gaston County Aug. 27, 1906, she was a daughter of the late Joseph Mellon and Arie Lee Anthony Meacham. She retired from Esther Mill and was a member of Eastside Baptist Church in Shelby.
She was preceded in death by three brothers, Joseph Washington Meacham, Glen Washburn Meacham and Paul Franklin Meacham; and two sisters, Elsie Eugenia Meacham Ledbetter and Bessie Lavon Meacham Edwards.
Survivors include two sisters and a brother-in-law, Connie Lee Meacham Trammel and J.C. and Margaret Bernice Meacham Rabb, all of Shelby; and a number of nieces and nephews.
The funeral will be Monday at 3 p.m. at Eastside Baptist Church with Dr. Harold Fite officiating. Burial will be in Sunset Cemetery.

BOSTIC - Mr. Junior Morrow, 58, of 112 Magent Trail, died Saturday, Nov. 6, 1999, at VA Medical Center in Oteen.
A native of Rutherford County, he was a son of the late Lee and Elsie Ramsey Morrow. He was an Army veteran who served in Vietnam. He attended Cooper Springs Congregational Holiness Church.
He is survived by his wife, Brenda Smith Morrow; a daughter, Crystal Lee Morrow of Hickory; a stepdaughter, Dana Peeler of Ellenboro; a brother, Donald F. Morrow of Bostic; and two sisters, Martha Sue Webb of Boiling Springs and Doris Hamrick of Bostic.
