CAROLEEN - Mrs. Julia Hood Champion, 78, died Thursday, Dec. 2, 1999, at Frye Regional Medical Center in Hickory.
The funeral will be Saturday at 2 p.m. at Full Gospel Assembly with the Revs. Ronnie Robbins and Ricky Poteat officiating. Burial will follow at Caroleen-Henrietta Cemetery.

Necoda Meeks
BALTIMORE - Mr. Necoda Meeks, died Tuesday, Nov. 30, 1999, at his residence.
He was the manager and an original member of the Jordanairs, a gospel group formed in 1949 by his brother, Emanuel Meeks.
He is survived by three sisters, Moniecue Meeks and Ozzie M. Smith, both of Shelby, and Shirley Smith of Newark, N.J.; and one brother, Emanuel Meeks of Shelby.
One service was Thursday at Saint John Baptist Church.
Another service will be Sunday at 2:30 p.m. at Saint Peter Missionary Baptist Church in Grover with the Rev. William Thompson officiating. Burial will follow at the church cemetery.
The family will receive friends Sunday one hour before the service at the church.

George Clark
FOREST CITY - Mr. George Edward Clark, 81, of Autumn Care, died Thursday, Dec. 2, 1999, at Rutherford Hospital.
A native of Jefferson County, Ga., he was the son of the late Ernest Duffey and Minnie Lou Phillips Clark. He was retired from Lily Mill Company. He was a member of Patterson Springs Baptist Church. He was a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II, serving in the Pacific Theatre on destroyer escort.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Blanton Clark; one son, Bruce Clark; three brothers, Hubert Clark, Cecil Clark and Hugh Lee Clark; one sister, Desma Short; and one grandson, Bruce Clark.
He is survived by one brother and sister-in-law, Rufus and Estelle Clark of Patterson Springs; three sisters and one brother-in-law, Thelma Anthony and Marie Wease, both of Kings Mountain, and Inez and Alfred Nanney of Shelby; two sons, Frank Conley Clark of Earl and Gary Clark of Shelby; one niece, Kelli Diane Clark; and one granddaughter, Sherry Ann Barclay.
A graveside service will be Saturday at 11 a.m. at Patterson Springs Baptist Church Cemetery with the Rev. Steve Waters officiating.
The family will receive friends tonight from 5:30 to 7:30 at Clay-Barnette Funeral Home and other times at the home of Rufus Clark, 1800 Creek Ridge Road, Shelby.

Thurman Sisk
SHELBY - Mr. Thurman Forney Sisk, 87, 2201 Riverside Road, died Friday, December 3, 1999, at Cleveland Regional Medical Center.
A native of Cleveland County, he was the son of the late June and Carrie Lippard Sisk. He retired from Esther Mill in Shelby and from Patterson Surplus.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by five brothers, Gene Sisk, Paul Sisk, Clyde Sisk, Robert Sisk and Flay Taylor and four sisters, Clara Sisk Harrill, Macie Sisk Dobbins, Mary Sisk McCoy and Cleader Sisk Dyer.
He is survived by six nieces, Sheena Anthony and her husband, Charlie, of Boiling Springs, Martha Loraine Harrill, Bonnie Diane Harrill, Carrie Harrill Bridges, Mona Pruett and her husband, J.W., all of Shelby, and Judith Fielder and her husband, Gerald, of Lawndale; 16 additional nieces and nephews; and a number of great and great-great nieces and nephews.
The funeral will be Sunday at 3:30 p.m. at the Shelby First Church of the Nazarene with the Rev. Ron Seigman officiating. The body will be placed in the church 30 minutes before the service. Burial will be at Sunset Cemetery.

Lorene Dellinger Jolley
SHELBY - Mrs. Lorene Spencer Dellinger Jolley, 85, 6 Heritage Lane, formerly of Belwood, died Friday, December 3, 1999, at Cleveland Pines Nursing Home.
A native of Catawba County, she was a daughter of the late Will and Ollie Cline Spencer.
She retired from Broughton Hospital, where she was a licensed practical nurse. She was a member of Kadesh United Methodist Church, the Methodist Women, Upper Cleveland Senior Citizens Organization and Belwood Home Demonstration Club.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband, Summie Dellinger, and her second husband, James Jolley.
She is survived by five sons, Clayton Dellinger of Mount Holly, Bill Dellinger of Waco, Don Dellinger, Cline Dellinger and Phill Dellinger, all of Belwood; two daughters, Janis Kline of Shelby and Mary Pierce of Gaffney, S.C.; a sister, Willie Dellinger of Newton; 18 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren.
The funeral will be Sunday at 2 p.m. at Kadesh United Methodist Church in Lawndale with the Revs. Steve Kiser and Joe McMurry officiating. The body will placed in the church 30 minutes before the service.

SHELBY- Mrs. Minda Jewel Champion Francis, 77, 353 Jack Francis Road, died Friday, December 3, 1999, at Cleveland Regional Medical Center.
A native of Cleveland County, she was a daughter of the late Hosea F. and Josie Poteat Champion. She was a homemaker.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Jack Glenn Francis; a brother, Tom Champion and a sister, Elva Pearson.
She is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Patsy and Warren Walker of Shelby; a sister and brother-in-law, Thelma and Elmer Gladden of Shelby; a granddaughter and her husband, Tammy and Tim Walker of Shelby; and a great-granddaughter, Bethany Walker of Shelby.
The funeral was Saturday at New Hope Baptist Church in Shelby with the Rev. David Gordon officiating. The body was placed at the church an hour before the service. Burial was in the church cemetery.

MOORESBORO- Mr. Jerry Lane Moore, 58, 1322 Mt. Pleasant Church Road, died Friday, December 3, 1999, at Spartanburg Regional Medical Center.
He was a native of Cleveland County, the son of Mrs. Marjorie Callahan Moore Nodine of Shelby and the late Ernest O. Moore. He was a retired salesman, a veteran of the U.S. Air Force and a member of Trinity Baptist Church.
In addition to his mother, he is survived by his wife, Ruth Gold Moore of the home; six sons and six daughters-in-law, J. Alan and Nina Moore of Mooresboro, Robert Charles and Lisa Moore of Lyman, S.C., Donald and Pam Jenkins of Kings Mountain, John M. and Barbara Glover of Florida, Ronald E. and Barbara Glover of Shelby and Kenneth and Tina Glover of Boiling Springs; three sisters, Lenda Queen of Kings Mountain, Rhonda Keller of Gaffney, S.C., and Donna Mathis of Boiling Sgrings; 12 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
The funeral will be Monday at 11 a.m. at Trinity Baptist Church with Revs. Tracy Jessup and Buddy Morehead officiating. The body will be placed in the church 30 minutes before the service. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

SHELBY- Mr. Charles Simmuel Crowe, 46, of 819 Parkwood Road, died Tuesday, November 30, 1999, in Ontario, Calif.
A native of Cleveland County, he was the son of the late Frank Buford and Nellie Jane Walker Crowe. He was employed at Sullens Trucking Company, Inc. as vice president of operations. He was a member of Lawyer Road Baptist Church in Charlotte and a veteran of the U.S. Army.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Joyce Denise Widener Crowe and a brother, Dwight Crowe.
He is survived by a son, Christopher Crowe of Lawndale; three daughters, April Garner of Shelby, Debra Crowe of Waco, and Taylor Crowe of Lawndale; a stepson, Robert Carroll of Shelby; two sisters, Debra Humphries of Fallston and Darlene Oaks of Cherryville; three nieces, Mellissa Hamrick, Kimberly Evans and Jennifer Oaks; one nephew, Charles Bell; two great nieces and two great nephews and a special friend, Angie Bridges Gilliland of Shelby.
The funeral is today at 3 p.m. at Wallace Grove Baptist Church with the Rev. Doug James officiating. Burial will be at Wallace Grove Baptist Church Cemetery.

CASAR - Mr. Elmer White, 73, 655 Moriah School Road, died Saturday, December 4, 1999, at the Hospice at Wendover.
A native of Cleveland County, he was the son of the late Willie Grayson and Dollie Dayberry White. He was a retired carpenter and a member of New Home United Methodist Church and American Legion Post 1981. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army, serving in World War II in the European Theater.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by a son, Johnny Lee White, and two brothers, Clayton White and C. Ford White.
He is survived by a two sons and daughters-in-law, Bill and Catherine White of Belwood and David and Janice White of Westampton, N.J.; a daughter-in-law, Connie W. White of Casar; two sisters, Macie Cook of Ellenboro and Virginia Ledbetter of Charlotte; and five grandchildren, Brandon White, Heather White and Dakota White, all of Casar, Travis White of Belwood and Andrew White of Westampton.

SHELBY - Mrs. Frances Doster Stowe, 87, of Shelby Manor, formerly of Brookhill Road, died Saturday, Dec. 4, 1999, at Cleveland Regional Medical Center.
A native of Union County, N.C., she was the daughter of the late Franklin Crowell and Ida Richardson Doster. She was a retired teacher who worked for Cleveland County and Shelby City Schools. She was a member of Central United Methodist Church where she was a member of the GoldenLinks Sunday school class and the morning Bible study group. She was a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution. She was a graduate of Wingate College and Appalachian State College.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband, Graham Manning Greene; her second husband, John Stowe; two brothers, Leonard Crowell Doster and Joe Franklin Doster; one sister, Crowelline Austell; and one grandson, Kenneth Graham Crump.
She is survived by two daughters and one son-in-law, Betty Greene Sharpe and Donna and Kenneth Crump, all of Shelby; and one grandson, Edward Crump of Shelby.
The funeral will be Tuesday at 11 a.m. at Cecil M. Burton Funeral Home with the Rev. Carl Johnson and Dr. Joe Reeves officiating. A service will be Wednesday at 2 p.m. at Shelby Manor.
