FOREST CITY - Jeremy Robert Green, 17, of 1789, Highway 221-A, died Saturday, Dec. 4, 1999, at his residence.
A native of Rutherford County, he was the son of Joe H. Green of the home and his mother, Elizabeth Jones Garcia of Mooresboro. He was a senior at Chase High School.
In addition to his parents, he is survived by two brothers, Dustin Green of Forest City and Wesley Garcia of Mooresboro; his grandparents, Rose and Jerry Jones of Rutherfordton and Eula Bailey Green of Mooresboro; and one great-grandmother, Mae Jones of Rutherfordton.
A memorial service will be Tuesday at 7 p.m. at McKinney-Landreth Funeral Home, Cliffside.
The family will receive friends Tuesday one hour before the service at the funeral home.

NEW YORK - Mr. Curlee Pressley, 72, of 305 W. 138th St., died Wednesday, Dec. 1, 1999, at Harlem Hospital in New York.
The funeral will be Tuesday at 3 p.m. at New Way Baptist Church. Burial will follow at Vantine Cemetery in Bessemer City.

KINGS MOUNTAIN - Mrs. Ruth Williams Cannedy, 76, of 221 N. Watterson St., died Friday, Dec. 3, 1999, at her residence.
A native of Grover, she was the daughter of the late David Wilson and Sally Ellis Williams. She was educated in St. Peter's Public School in Grover. She was a member of Bynum Chapel A.M.E. Zion Church of Kings Mountain.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Woodrow Cannedy.
She is survived by one sister, Mrs. Elizabeth Roach Gill of Kings Mountain; one niece, who was reared as a daughter, Mrs. Linda Harris of Philadelphia; two nephews, who were reared as sons, James Roach of Shelby and Thomas Rowe of Philadelphia; one godson, Bernard Leach of Kings Mountain; four grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
The funeral will be Thursday at 3 p.m. at Bynum Chapel A.M.E. Zion Church in Kings Mountain with the Rev. Reginald B. McClean, Elder Stelliev Jackson and Evangelist Shirley Guest officiating. The body will be placed in the church at 2 p.m. Burial will follow at Mountain Rest Cemetery.

SHELBY - Mr. Russell "Wheat" Little, 54, of 200 Palmer St., died Tuesday, Dec. 7, 1999, at his residence.

Omer Miller
CUMBERLAND, Md. - Mr. Omer L. Miller, 75, of Fayette Street, died Tuesday, Dec. 7, 1999, at Sacred Heart Hospital.
A native of Cumberland, he was born on Sept. 28, 1924, the son of the late Murray L. and Pearl Hannas Miller. He was formerly employed by B&O Railroad and was retired from Kelly-Springfield Tire Company. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II. He attended First Christian Church in Cumberland and was a member of the Cumberland Outdoor Club.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Mary Jane Aman Miller.
He is survived by his wife, Carole T. McDade Miller; one son, Todd L. Miller of Roanoke, Va.; seven daughters, Bonnie Miller Koelle and her husband, Irvin, of Shelby, Fran McDade Burke-Angel and her husband, Evan of Alexandria, Va., Sharon McDade Watson and her husband, Linn, Nancy McDade Billard and her husband, Frank, and Michelle McDade, all of Cumberland, Gail McDade McNeelege and her husband, Glenn, of Forest, Va., and Erin McDade Elkins and her husband, Michael, of Columbia, S.C.; one sister, Mary Catherine Miller Hansel of Cumberland; 14 grandchildren; and one nephew.
The funeral will be Friday at 11:30 a.m. at Scarpelli Funeral Home with Pastor Kay White Barmoy officiating. Burial will follow at Restlawn Memorial Gardens in LaVale.

David Dellinger
LAWNDALE - Mr. David Filmore Dellinger, 55, of 10 E #1 Double Shoals Road, died Monday, Dec. 6, 1999, in Burke County.
A native of Avery County, he was born on Dec. 8, 1943, the son of Mary Winberger Dellinger of Newland and the late David Edward Dellinger. He was a horticulturist with Horticulture Service/Greenhouses. He was a member of Stone Mountain Baptist Church of Tennessee and attended The Way of the Cross Freewill Baptist Church.
He is survived by his wife, Nancy Louise Barrier Dellinger of the home; one brother, Thomas Butch Dellinger of Newland; one half brother, Michael Dellinger of Butler, Tenn.; and one half sister, Connie Winfery of Butler.
The family will receive friends tonight from 6:30 to 8 at Stamey Funeral Home.
Burial will follow Friday at Elk Park Cemetery in Newland.

Lillian Harrison
SHELBY - Ms. Lillian P. Harrison, 79, of White Oak Manor, formerly of 407 Cherry St., died Monday, Dec. 6, 1999, at Cleveland Regional Medical Center.
A native of Rutherford County, she was the daughter of the late Clinton Peeler and Hannah Mae and Baxter Melton. She was a homemaker.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by one brother, Bud Cunningham; one sister, Jennie Shelp; two grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
She is survived by two sons and daughters-in-law, James Blake and Libby Harrison of Bessemer City and Charles Randy and Jill Harrison of Blacksburg, S.C.; one daughter and son-in-law, Linda and Tony West of Shelby; four brothers, Harry R. Melton of Belmont, Guy F. Melton of Kings Mountain, Billy Dean Melton of Wilmington and Randall Dixon of Doraville, Ga.; seven sisters, Helen McAbee and Elizabeth Long, both of Kings Mountain, Clara Peeler of Cherryville, Doris Singleton, Velma Lou Brock, Jean Sue Kennedy and Sarah May, all of Gastonia; seven grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren.
The funeral will be Thursday at 3 p.m. at Ollie Harris Memorial Chapel with the Revs. Bryan Glisson and M.P. Hampton officiating. Burial will follow at Mountain Rest Cemetery.

Larry Perry
SHELBY - Mr. Larry Perry, 40, of 527 Suttle St., died Saturday, Dec. 4, 1999, at Cleveland Regional Medical Center.
A native of Shelby, he was the son of the late Roscoe and Geneva Ross Perry. He was employed by Cleveland Regional Medical Center for 20 years. He was a member of Shiloh Missionary Baptist Church.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two sisters, Joann Ross Eaves and Lottie Mae Jefferies, and one uncle, Edward "Kitty" Ross.
He is survived by two brothers, Roscoe Perry of the home and Jack Perry of Charlotte; three sisters, Helen Ross, Quincy Perry and Gina Perry, all of Charlotte; two aunts, Mary Helen Wallace of Charlotte and Patria Ross of Shelby; and two special friends, Andrea Russell of Shelby and Terricia Wingo of Kings Mountain.
The funeral will be Thursday at 3 p.m. at Shiloh Missionary Baptist Church with the Rev. J.L. Smith officiating. Burial will follow at Webb Memorial Lawns.

FOREST CITY - Mr. John W. Wood, 77, formerly of 2654 Prospect Church Road, Mooresboro, died Monday, Dec. 6, 1999, at Carolina House of Forest City.

SHELBY - Mrs. Ernestine Johnson Toms, 66, of 412 Carolina Avenue, died Monday, Dec. 6, 1999, at Cleveland Regional Medical Center.
A native of Cleveland County, she was the daughter of the late Geneva Johnson Hardy and John Bryant. She was a graduate of Cleveland High School. She was formerly employed by Cleveland Regional Medical Center, Shelby Mill and Esther Mill. She was a member of Shiloh Missionary Baptist Church.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her stepfather, William "Bud" Hardy.
She is survived by her husband, June Toms of Shelby; four sons, Forrest D. Toms of Hickory, Chuck Toms of Winston-Salem, Dennis Toms and John Toms, both of Shelby; one daughter, Janice Toms Hill of Charlotte; one sister, Mary B. Ponder of Philadelphia; one brother and sister-in-law, John and Teresa Bryant of Washington, D.C.; ten grandchildren, Julius Camp of Denver, Colo., Nikki Ingram of Kings Mountain, Alex Surratt, Dennis "Chip" Toms, Trey Toms and Raven Dorsey, all of Shelby, Forrest Toms II and Zakiya Toms, both of Hickory, Joshua Surratt of Winston-Salem, Noelle Hill of Charlotte; three great-grandchildren, "KeKe" Camp and Julius "Snoop" Camp Jr., both of Shelby, and Tyran Browning of Denver; two aunts, Willie Mae Eskridge of Providence, R.I., and Victoria Hartgrove of Shelby.

B.F. Darnell Jr.
SHELBY - Mr. B.F. Darnell Jr., 74, of 2213 Van Aken Circle, died Tuesday, Dec. 7, 1999, at Cleveland Regional Medical Center.
A native of Toccoa, Ga., he was the son of the late Gracie Missouri Lloyd Darnell and the Rev. B.F. Darnell Sr. He was retired from Dover Textiles. He was owner of Darnell's Pottery & Crafts. He was a member of Royster Avenue Church of God. He was a veteran of World War II, having served in the U.S. Navy on the USS Barron.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one brother, Otis Darnell.
He is survived by his wife, Jessie Mozelle Bost Darnell of the home; two sons and their wives, Ted and Peggy Darnell of Kings Mountain and Joe and Sandy Darnell of Shelby; one brother and his wife, Jackie and Sherry Darnell of Belmont; two sisters and their husbands, Kathryn and the Rev. S.A. Lankford of Belmont and Shirley and Jim Wrap of Charlotte; five grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

A native of Cleveland County, he was the son of the late Neach and Gertrude Wilson Little.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Norma Jean Little; and three brothers, James Little, Carl Little and Karrey Little.
He is survived by one son, Patrick Little of Shelby; three daughters, Kimberly L. Hopper, Deborah Little and Tracy Thompson, all of Shelby; three brothers, Robert Little of Kannapolis, Charles Little of Boiling Springs and Deo Little of Mooresboro; four sisters, Florine Little of Boiling Springs, Lena Ross of Shelby, Lillie Ruth Gardner of Hartford, Conn., and Lois Burch of Florence, S.C.; and six grandchildren.

KINGS MOUNTAIN - Mr. Alfred "Duck" Phillips, 56, of 405 Stoney Point Road, died Tuesday, Dec. 7, 1999, at Kings Mountain Hospital.
A native of Cleveland County, he was the son of the late Pearly Bryson and Arrie Bell Short Phillips. He was a member of the Kings Mountain High School Boosters Club. He was retired from Blackstone Electric of Shelby.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one brother, Carl Phillips.
He is survived by his wife, Anita Phillips of Kings Mountain; three sons, Timothy Phillips of Kings Mountain, Brent Phillips of Union, S.C., and Trey Loftin of Shelby; one daughter, Stacy Duren of Lincolnton; two brothers, Roy Phillips of Gastonia and Coy Phillips of Kings Mountain; two sisters, Joann Phillips Dellinger of Kings Mountain and Dorothy Phillips Dellinger of Clover, S.C.; three grandchildren, Houston Phillips, Kaylah Loftin and Olivia Duren; a niece and her family, Kathy, Dairs and Michael Whitson; and 16 nieces and nephews.
