Monroe Luckadoo
MARION - Mr. Monroe Grady Luckadoo, 59, died Saturday, Jan. 1, 2000, at McDowell Hospital.
Born in Cleveland County on March 23, 1940, he was a son of Mae Powell Luckadoo of Casar and the late John Grady Luckadoo. He was retired from Galey and Lord and was a member of Clinchfield United Methodist Church.
In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by a brother, John Andrew Luckadoo.
In addition to his mother, he is survived by his wife, Iris Rowland Luckadoo of the home; a son, Mark Monroe Luckadoo and his wife Shellie of Casar; three brothers, Eugene Luckadoo of Lawndale and Steven Luckadoo and Myron Luckadoo of Casar; four sisters, Sarah Dean Chapman of Casar, Stella Gettys of Polkville, Emily McKinney of Lincolnton, Ga., and Juanita Fredell of Polkville; and one grandchild, Dereck Luckadoo.
The funeral will be Tuesday at 11 a.m. at Canaan Baptist Church, 438 Pruitt Road, Casar, with the Revs. Dennis Bailey, Carl Roland and Terry Rowland officiating. The body will be placed in the church 30 minutes before the service. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
Instead of flowers, the family requests memorials to Canaan Baptist Church, P.O. Box 216, Casar, N.C. 28020.
The family will receive friends tonight from 5:30 to 7:30 at Westmoreland Funeral Home in Marion.
Catherine Callahan
LATTIMORE - Mrs. Catherine G. Callahan, 91, died Saturday, Jan. 1, 2000, at Rutherford Hospital.
Born in Greer, S.C., she was the daughter of the late Henry and Eleanor Payne Greer. She was a homemaker and a member of Lattimore Baptist Church.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph Lester Callahan.
She is survived by a stepdaughter and her husband, Kathleen and Hal Fite of Lattimore; a stepson and his wife, Max and Norma Callahan of Buies Creek; a step-grandson, Robert Fite of Lattimore; two step-granddaughters and their husbands, Ann and Steve Jones of Lattimore and Marsha and Bob Long of Angler; a step-grandson and his wife, Mark and Dale Callahan of Winston-Salem; step-greatgrandsons, Joey Fite and David Jones of Shelby; a step-greatgranddaughter, Haley Long of Angler; step-greatgrandchildren, Travis Callahan, Austin Callahan, Sarah Callahan and Allison Callahan, all of Winston-Salem; a sister-in-law, Rucia Greer of Taylors, S.C.; nieces, Kay Gosnell and her husband Don of Easley, S.C.; Patricia Faster of Florida and Ann Greer of Taylors; nephews, Joe Greer of Rock Hill and Tom Greer of Florida.
The funeral is today at 3 p.m. at Lattimore Baptist Church, with Dr. Max Burgin officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
The family will receive friends at the church following the service.

KINGS MOUNTAIN - Mr. Barry Thomas Ross, 33, of 134 Hatcher Road, Shelby, died Saturday, Jan. 1, 2000.
A native of Cleveland County, he was employed by PPG Industries and was a member of Oak Grove Baptist Church.
He is survived by his parents, William O. "Bill" and Peggy Bridges Ross of Kings Mountain; a son, Colt Allman of Kings Mountain; a brother, Mark Ross of Kings Mountain; and a special friend, Noel Moore of Shelby.
A memorial service will be held Tuesday at 4 p.m. in Ollie Harris Memorial Chapel, with the Revs. Ron Caulder and Bruce Hobson officiating.
The family will receive friends at Harris Funeral Home before the service from 2:30 to 3:30 p.m.

John McKinney
MOORESBORO - Mr. John H. McKinney Sr., 79, of 435 Hames Ridge Road, died Sunday, Jan. 2, 2000, at his home.
A native of McDowell County, he was a son of the late Grayson and Cora Jane Eubanks McKinney. He retired from Fieldcrest Mills and was a member of the Forest City Woodmen of the World and Caroleen Congregational Holiness Church.
He was preceded in death by his first wife, Louise Lynch McKinney.
He is survived by his wife, Mary Teseniar Crawford McKinney; one son, Johnny McKinney Jr. of Mooresboro; one daughter, Mildred McElveen of Belmont; one stepson, Gene Crawford of Rutherfordton; three stepdaughters, Patricia McEntyre of Ellenboro, Mary Katherine Smith of Forest City and Sandra White of Spindale; one brother, Boyce Ray McKinney of Spartanburg, S.C.; three sisters, Evelyn Mathis and Donnie Moss of Spartanburg and Margie Epley of Forest City; 19 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren.
The funeral will be Wednesday at 1 p.m. at Caroleen Congregational Holiness Church with the Revs. Charles Evans, Trey Gilliam and Ricky Poteat officiating. Burial will be in Rutherford County Memorial Cemetery.

Martin Fowler
SHELBY - Mr. Martin Luther Fowler, 74, of 1202 Frederick St., died Saturday, Jan. 1, 2000, at Century Care Nursing Home.
He was born Dec. 5, 1925, in Spartanburg County, S.C., the son of the late Nellie Webster and Leonard Fowler.
He was as a taxi operator for more than 50 years and was semi-retired for the past three years. He was a member of Shiloh Missionary Baptist Church of Shelby and was a member of Elks Lodge Reciprocity No. 693.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his brother, Leonard Fowler, and his sister, Louise Vickers.
He is survived by his wife, Eula Dillingham Fowler; one daughter, Daphne Beth Fowler of the home; one grandchild, Phil'an Fowler of the home; and a number of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
The funeral will be held at 1 p.m. Wednesday at Shiloh Missionary Baptist Church with the Rev. O.R. Cleveland officiating. Burial will follow at the Webb Memorial Lawns.
The family will receive friends a half hour before the service at the church.

SHELBY - Mrs. Rosemarie Bowers Morrison, 64, of 1231 W. Zion Church Road, died Sunday, Jan. 2, 2000, at her residence.
A native of Navarre, Ohio, she was the daughter of the late Warren and Ethel Airhart Bowers.
She was a longtime member of St. Teresa Catholic Church in Brewster, Ohio. She was also a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Forest City. She was a member of the Wildwood Garden Club in Brewster.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by one daughter, Nancy Ann Morrison; one brother, Bobby Bowers; and one granddaughter, Whitney Davis.
She is survived by her husband, Sam A. Morrison; one son, Lex Morrison of Massillon, Ohio; three daughters and sons-in-law, Kathi Carroll and her husband Carson and Wendi Davis and her husband Bob, all of Shelby, and Shari Braendel and her husband Dave of Charlotte; three sisters, Jerry Geis and Eleanor Klein, both of Navarre, and Donna Shanklin of Canton, Ohio; and 12 grandchildren.
A memorial mass will be Wednesday at 11 a.m. at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Forest City with Father Gabriel Meehan and Deacon Andy Cilone officiating. Burial will follow at Sunset Cemetery in Shelby.
The family will receive friends at the residence.

Rolean Sigmon
CONOVER - Mrs. Rolean Travis Sigmon, 82, of 102 Fairway Drive, S.W., died Saturday, Jan. 2, 2000, at Catawba Memorial Hospital.
Born Jan. 26, 1917, in Catawba County, she was the daughter of the late Wilburn Lee and Minnie Kaylor Travis.
She was a member of Concordia Lutheran Church and was a retired sewer for Conover Glove.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Lester A. Sigmon; a daughter, Deborah K.Sigmon; four sisters, Bleaka T. Reinhardt, Myrtle T. Lowman, Zelda T. Travis and Hazel T. Houston; and one brother, Clifford L. Travis.
Survivors include a son, Lester A. Sigmon of Conover; three daughters and sons-in-law, Kathryn and T.W. Campbell of Shelby, Brenda and John Garcia Sr. and Shirley and Dwight Brooks, all of Conover; two sisters, Rena T. Hunsucker of Newton and Clara T. Lail of Conover; 13 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; and four step-great-grandchildren.
The funeral will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Concordia Lutheran Church with the Revs. Donald Oldenburg and Vicar Roger Vernick officiating.
Burial will be in Conover City Cemetery. The body will be placed in the church 30 minutes before the service.

A native of Cleveland County, she was the daughter of the late Ocie McCraw Harris and the Rev. L.B. Harris. She was a retired nursing assistant at Crawley Memorial Hospital. She was a member of Mount Pleasant Baptist Church.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Garland Jolley.
She is survived by two daughters and a son-in-law, Nellie and Steve Hawkins of Boiling Springs and Hazel Jolley of Mooresboro; five brothers, Paul Harris, Ernest Harris, Frank Harris, Sherril Harris and Earl Harris, all of Ellenboro; two sisters, Kathleen Murray and Jeanette Greene, both of Ellenboro; two grandchildren, Lesley Bradley and her husband Clay and Wesley Hawkins; and one-great-grandchild, Steven Bradley.

Aileen Gibson
KINGS MOUNTAIN - Mrs. Aileen Black Gibson, 78, of 910 N. Piedmont Ave., died Wednesday, Jan. 5, 2000, at White Oak Manor in Kings Mountain.
A native of Cleveland County, she was the daughter of the late Harley Black and Annie Ware Black Self. She retired as a designer for Baxter Corporation in Shelby. She was a fan of hometown baseball and a good friend and neighbor.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Eugene William Gibson.
She is survived by three sons and daughters-in-law, Gene and Mary Anne Gibson, Barry and Susan Gibson and Shane and Karen Gibson, all of Kings Mountain; six grandchildren, Mary Elizabeth Gibson, Jennifer Ann Gibson and her husband, Shane Conner, Alan Gibson, Drew Gibson, Chase Gibson and McKenzie Gibson; and one great-grandson, Gibson Conner.
A graveside service will be Saturday at 11 a.m. at Mountain Rest Cemetery with the Revs. Terry Bird and Don Williams officiating.
