KINGS MOUNTAIN - Mr. Willie Frank Williams of 501 N. Watterson St. died Tuesday, Jan. 4, 2000, at Kings Mountain Hospital.
The funeral will be Saturday at noon at Good Hope Presbyterian Church. Burial will follow at Mountain Rest Cemetery.

Charles Carpenter
WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. - Mr. Charles M. Carpenter, 78, died Wednesday, Jan. 5, 2000, at Hospice of Palm Beach County.
He was a certified public accountant in West Palm Beach since 1951 and was a retired partner of Ernst and Young. He was active in the community, serving as a trustee of the J.M. Rubin Foundation, and was a former member of the Board of Trustees of Palm Beach Atlantic College. He was a founding member of the Board of Directors of the Boys and Girls Club of Palm Beach County, and served this organization in many capacities for 30 years. He was a former member and past president of the South Side Kiwanis Club in West Palm Beach. He was a member of First Baptist Church of West Palm Beach.
He is survived by his wife, Doris L. Carpenter; one daughter and son-in-law, Susan C. and Jim Stuber of West Palm Beach; one son and daughter-in-law, Charles M. Carpenter Jr. and Pam Carpenter of West Palm Beach; one sister, Darcilla J. Carpenter of Shelby; one brother and sister-in-law, J. David and Gennie Carpenter of Shelby; two grandchildren, Bryan Carpenter and Christopher Carpenter; and several nieces and nephews.
The funeral will be Saturday at 11 a.m. at Quattlebaum-Holleman-Burse Funeral Home in West Palm Beach, with the Rev. Tim Beverly of First Baptist Church of West Palm Beach officiating. Burial will follow at Hillcrest Memorial Park.
The family will receive friends Friday from 7 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home.

SHELBY - Mrs. Nettie Washington, 91, of 401 N. Morgan St., died Tuesday, Jan. 4, 2000, at Cleveland Regional Medical Center.

Vangie Yarbrough
LINCOLNTON - Mrs. Vangie Wright Yarbrough, 91, of 5233 Flay Road, died Tuesday, Jan. 4, 2000, at Iredell Memorial Hospital.
A native of Cleveland County, she was the daughter of the late Guy Anthony Wright and the late Amelia Norman Wright.
She was a homemaker and a member of Bess Chapel United Methodist Church.
In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, Tyson R. Yarbrough; four brothers, Cline Wright, Flavious Wright, Hubert Wright and Reid Wright and one sister, Arsie Warlick.
She is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Martha and William "Bill" Kepley of Statesville; three sisters, Madeline Elliott of Shelby, Stella Sellers of Fallston, and Hildreth Cooke of Shelby; a granddaughter and her husband, Tonya and Chris Cozort of Rutherford College; and a granddaughter, Heather Kepley of Rock Hill, S.C.
The funeral will be at 2 p.m. Friday at the Bess Chapel United Methodist Church with the Revs. John Stein, Tom Corbell and George Williams officiating. The body will be placed in the church 30 minutes before the service. Burial will follow at Bess Chapel United Methodist Church Cemetery.
The family will receive friends tonight from 6:30 to 8 at the Stamey Funeral Home.

LAWNDALE - Mrs. Lela Mae Randall Price, 85, of 133 Big Hill Road, died Monday, Jan. 3, 2000, at Britt Haven of Morganton.
A native of Cleveland County, she was born on May 13, 1914, the daughter of the late James Alfred and Hattie Pruitt Randall. She was retired from Drexel Furniture, where she worked as a finisher. She was a member of Mount Gilead Baptist Church in Burke County.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Adam J. Price; one grandson, William "Billy" J. Price; one sister, Velma Rea Tallent; and a daughter-in-law, Janet Price.
She is survived by three sons and two daughters-in-law, J.P. and Pheobe Price of Hildebran, the Rev. Robert Price and the Rev. Jackie and Mary Price, all of Lawndale; one grandson and his wife, Michael and Carla Price of Hildebran; one foster grandson and his wife, John and Tonya Whitehair of Hickory; three step-grandchildren, Greg Cook and Phillip Cook, both of Golden Valley, and Joseph Cook of Lawndale; three great-grandchildren, Amanda Price, Alan Price and Alison Price, all of Hildebran; two foster great-grandchildren, Jonathon Whitehair and Jacob Whitehair, both of Hickory; and four brothers, J.D. Randall of Morehead City, Boyd Randall, Brady Randall and Lloyd Randall, all of Lawndale.
The funeral will be at 3 p.m. today at Mount Gilead Baptist Church with the Revs. Jackie Price, Julius Lowery and Kevin Fulbright officiating. The body will be placed in the church 30 minutes before the service. Burial will follow at Olive Grove Baptist Church.

HALIFAX COUNTY - Mrs. Nettie Hedgepeth "Dotsie" Washington, 91, of 401 North Morgan St., Shelby, died Tuesday, Jan. 4, 2000, at Cleveland Regional Medical Center.
She was the daughter of the late Billy Ed and Nancy Evans Hedgepeth.
She is survived by five daughters, Mrs. Lucy Lynch of Roanoke Rapids, Ms. Thelma Washington of Hampton, Va., Mrs. Nettie Durant and Mrs. Annie Glenn, both of Shelby, and Mrs. Erma Wilson of Durham; one son, William Paul Washington of Aurora, Colo.; 40 grandchildren; 45 great-grandchildren; and five great-great-grandchildren.
The funeral will be Saturday at 1 p.m. at Piney Grove Baptist Church in Roanoke with the Rev. Albert Clark officiating. Burial will follow at the church cemetery.

RUTHERFORDTON - Ms. Margaret Isabelle Leininger Fritschler, 83, of 269 N. Washington St., died Friday, Jan. 7, 2000, at Colonial Manor in Rutherfordton.

James "Jim" Wolfe
SHELBY - Mr. James O. "Jim" Wolfe, 74, of 1906 Elizabeth Avenue, died Friday, Jan. 7, 2000, at Cleveland Regional Medical Center.
A native of Cleveland County, he is the son of the late James Lloyd and Rachel Harmon Wolfe. He retired in 1988 after 25 years as the owner of City Automotive Service.
He was a member of Zion Baptist Church. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, George Wolfe.
He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Kathleen "Kat" Self Wolfe; two daughters and a son-in-law, Debbie Wolfe and Jerry Harris, Betsy Wolfe and Pam Wolfe Spurling, all of Shelby; three grandchildren, Kirk Harris and his wife Laurie of Boulder, Colo., and Emily Harris and Sarah Spurling, both of Shelby; and one great-granddaughter, Rachel Caroline Harris of Shelby.
The funeral will be 2 p.m. Sunday, at Zion Baptist Church with Dr. Randy Bridges officiating. The body will be placed in the church 30 minutes before the service. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.

LAWNDALE - Mrs. Eliza Brooks Greene, 90, of 3329 Rube Spangler Road, died Saturday, Jan. 8, 2000, at Cleveland Pines Nursing Center.
Born Jan. 14, 1909 in Cleveland County, she was a daughter of the late Mattison and Amelia Hamrick Brooks. She was a homemaker and an active minister's wife. She was a member of Double Shoals Baptist Church.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, the Rev. C.O. Greene; 10 sisters; and three brothers.
Surviving are three sons and two daughters-in-law, Allen and Peggy Greene of Lawndale, Albert Greene of Winston-Salem and Stanley and Ruth Greene of Moneta, Va.; a brother, Marshall Brooks of Lattimore; a sister, Susan Lee of Lattimore; four granddaughters, Brooks Jones and Pearce Haley, both of Winston-Salem, Beth Thomas of Shelby and Susan Greene of Lawndale; a great-grandchild, Vince Thomas of Shelby; two step-grandchildren, Mike Morris and Debbie Meyers of Charlottesville, Va.; and seven step-great-grandchildren.
The funeral will be held at 11 a.m. Monday at Double Shoals Baptist Church, with the Rev. Eric Davis officiating. The body will be placed in the church at 9:45 a.m. Monday. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The Ladies IV Sunday School Class will be honorary pallbearers.
The family will receive friends from 9:45 to 10:45 a.m. Monday at the church, and at other times, at the home of Allen and Peggy Greene, 3329 Rube Spangler Road in Lawndale.

Deaver L. Allen
ANDERSON, S.C. - Mr. Deaver L. Allen, 59, of 135 Hammett Acres, died Friday, Jan. 7, 2000, at Anderson Area Medical Center.
Born May 13, 1940 in Shelby, he was the youngest of 13 children of the late Charles Lester and Jessie Dover Allen. He was a graduate of North Carolina State University and a retired chemical engineer at BASF. He was a member of Young Memorial A.R.P. Church and a volunteer at Interfaith Ministries.
Surviving are his wife, Donnis C. Allen of the home; a son, Charles "Chuck" Allen of DeBary, Fla.; a daughter, Denise Allen Belk of Greenville, S.C.; two brothers, Gene Allen and Herman Allen, both of Shelby; five sisters, Irene Hunt of Ellenboro, Mae Wesson, Pauline Philbeck and Mary Fay Bridges, all of Shelby, and Ruby Hambrick of Boiling Springs; and two grandchildren.
The funeral will be held at 2 p.m. today at Forest Lawn Memorial Park Mausoleum Chapel, with Dr. L. Thomas Richie officiating. Entombment will follow in Forest Lawn Memorial Park Mausoleum.
