Vernie Wilson
ELLENBORO - Mrs. Vernie McKinney Wilson, 91, of 2081 New House Road, died Friday, Feb. 4, 2000, at Oak Grove Healthcare Center.
A native of Rutherford County, she was the daughter of the late John and Johnnie Price McKinney. She was a member of Philadelphia Primitive Baptist Church and a homemaker.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, John Wray Wilson; four brothers, Jim McKinney, Coran McKinney, Grady McKinney and Zeno McKinney; and three sisters, Willie Belle Mauney, Clevie Edwards and Blanche Wilson.
She is survived by one son and daughter-in-law, James Wray and Frances K. Wilson of Ellenboro; three grandchildren, Janice McFarland and Randy Wilson, both of Ellenboro, and Alisa Hopper of Rutherfordton; two sisters, Mary C. McDaniel and Dorris Edwards, both of Ellenboro; and eight great-grandchildren.
The funeral will be Sunday at 3 p.m. at McKinney-Landreth Funeral Home with Dr. Wayne Blackwood and Dr. J.M. Ezell officiating. Burial will follow at Bethel Baptist Church cemetery.
The family will receive friends tonight from 7 to 8:30 at the funeral home.

CHERRYVILLE - Mrs. Talathy D. Dellinger, 94, of 501 Spring St., died Friday, Feb. 4, 2000, at her home.

BLACKSBURG, S.C. - Mrs. Liane Isler, 92, of 282 Craton Road, died Thursday, Feb. 3, 2000, at her home.

BLACKSBURG, S.C. - Mrs. Estelle Turner Martin, 76, of 964 York Road, died Thursday, Feb. 3, 2000, at Brookview Healthcare Center in Gaffney, S.C.
The funeral will be Sunday at 2 p.m. at Hopewell Baptist Church with Dr. Charlie Barnard and Rev. Grady Gregory officiating. Burial will follow in Antioch Baptist Church cemetery.

BLACKSBURG, S.C. - Mrs. Carolyn L. Thayer, 58, of 206 Dixon Drive, died Thursday, Feb. 3, 2000, at her home.
The funeral will be today at noon at First Baptist Church with the Rev. Ken Reid officiating.

David Crowe
SHELBY - Mr. David Allen Crowe, 29, of 1770 Melrose Dr., died Friday, Feb. 4, 2000, at his home.
He was born in Chester, Va., the son of Roger D. and Rachel Webber Crowe of the home.
He was employed as an assistant manager with Thomas and Howard. He was a member at Zion Baptist Church, a former choir member and handbell choir member. He was a graduate of Shelby High School and Gardner-Webb University.
He is preceded in death by two grandfathers, Norris Crowe and Ralph Webber.
In addition to his parents, he is survived by two grandmothers, Lucille Crowe and Willie Webber, both of Shelby.
The funeral will be 3 p.m. Sunday at Zoar Baptist Church with Dr. Marvin Gobble officiating. Burial will be at Cleveland Memorial Park.
The family will receive friends one hour before the service at the church.

Pauline Nelson
SHELBY - Mrs. Pauline Nelson, 57, of 510 Leander St, died Wednesday, Feb. 2, 2000, at Hospice at Wendover Heights.
She retired an instructor of education in 1996 from Cleveland Board of Education after 30 years of service. She went to Winston-Salem Teachers College.
She is survived by three sisters, Barbara Boyd and Raylene Peary of Cleveland, Ohio, and Juanita Ferguson of Upper Marlboro, Md., and two brothers, Dwight Hargrove of Amherst, N.Y., and Louis C. Hargrove of Shelby.
The funeral will be Sunday at 2 p.m. at Pine Grove Primitive Baptist Church in Lawndale with Elder James L. Benton officiating. Burial will be in Lawndale.
The family will receive friends Sunday at 1:30 p.m. at the church.

John Yarbro
KINGS MOUNTAIN - Mr. John E. Yarbro, 98, of 565 Bethlehem Road, died Friday, Feb. 4, 2000, at Cleveland Regional Medical Center.
A native of Cleveland County, he was a farmer, and the oldest member of Bethlehem Baptist Church.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Sarah Velia Herndon Yarbro, and his parents, Albert and Ida Hord Yarbro.
He is survived by four sons and two daughters-in-law, John Floyd and Ruth Yarbro of Shelby, J. Ed Yarbro, W.A. Yarbro, and George and Darlene Yarbro, all of Kings Mountain; three daughters and sons-in-law, Carrie and Kelly Patterson, Ava and Garland Sipe, Julia and David Huffstetler, all of Kings Mountain; two brothers, Randolph Yarbro of Kings Mountain and Darvin Yarbro of Shelby; 14 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren.
The funeral will be today at 3 p.m. at Bethlehem Baptist Church, with the Rev. David Blanton officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

SHELBY - Ms. Virginia Mae Donaldson Baer, 74, of 802 Churchill Drive, died Monday, Jan. 31, 2000, at Hospice of Wendover.
A native of Stratford, Conn., she was retired from Lee Memorial Hospital in Fort Myers, Fla., was a member of Saint Mary's Catholic Church, and member of the Order of the Eastern Star Azelia #2 in Stratford.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Albert and Mae Quatt Kent and Wilson Thomas and Grace Frasier Donaldson, and a brother, Albert Kent Jr.
She is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Donna and George Sears of Shelby; a sister, Vivian Kent Frasier of Chandler, Ariz.; two grandchildren, Aland Thomas Sears and Joicelyn Louise Baer; and several nieces and nephews.
The funeral will be Monday at 11 a.m. at Saint Mary's Catholic Church, with the Rev. Eric Houseknecht officiating. Another service will be at Lions Senior Village Tuesday at 11 a.m.
The family will receive friends after both services.

SHELBY - Mrs. Pauline H. Nelson, of 510 Leander Street, died Wednesday, Feb. 2, 2000, at Hospice of Wendover Heights.
A native of Lincolnton, she was the daughter of L.C. Hargrove and Susie Ward Hargrove Sadler.
She graduated from Douglas High School in Lawndale and was a graduate of Winston-Salem State Teachers College. She was an instructor of education. She was employed by Cleveland County Board of Education for two years and retired in 1996 from the Cleveland, Ohio, Board of Education after 30 years of service.
She is survived by two brothers, Dwight Hargrove of Amherst, N.Y,. and Louis C. (L.C.) Hargrove of Shelby; three sisters, Barbara Boyd and Roylene Peavy of Cleveland and Juanita Ferguson of Upper Marlboro, Md.; and a step-sister, Theresa Jackson of Elk Grove, Calif.
The funeral will be today at 2:00 p.m. at Pine Grove Primitive Baptist Church in Belwood, with the Elder James L. Benton officiating. Burial will follow at the church cemetery.
The family will receive friends today at 1:30 p.m. before the service at the church.

HIGH POINT - Mrs. Agnes Griffin Cline, 99, of 206 Greensboro Road, formerly of Fallston, died Saturday, Feb. 5, 2000, at Evergreens Nursing Center.
A native of Columbus County, she was the daughter of the late Columbus C. and Henrietta Lawson Griffin. She was the retired owner and operator of Cline's Florist. She was a member of Green Street Baptist Church.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, William Robert Cline, and a son and daughter-in-law, Robert "Bob" Sr. and Claire Cline.
She is survived by a granddaughter and her husband, Candace and Larry Guy of High Point; a grandson and his wife, the Rev. J. Robert and Angela Cline of Hartsville, S.C.; and four great-grandchildren.
The funeral will be Monday at 2 p.m. at Stamey Funeral Home Chapel, with Dr. J. Robert Cline and the Rev. Russell Fitts officiating. Burial will follow at Rose Hill Memorial Park. The family will receive friends one hour before the service at the funeral home.
