Roscoe Harris
MOORESBORO - Mr. Roscoe Harris, 79, of 111 Old Calvary Church Road, died Thursday, Feb. 10, 2000, at his home.
A native of Rutherford County, he was the son of the late Weldon O. and Stella Jones Harris. He was retired from Duke Power Co., Cliffside Steam Station. He was a veteran of World War II, serving in the Army. He was a member of Prospect Baptist Church.
He is survived by his wife, Mildred Roberts Harris; one brother, Guy Harris of Cliffside; three sisters, Gladys Pritchard and Macy Munsey, both of Mooresboro, and Estelle Greene of Forest City.
The funeral will be Saturday at 2 p.m. at McKinney-Landreth Funeral Home with the Rev. John Goforth officiating. Burial will be in Rutherford County Memorial Cemetery.
The family will receive friends tonight from 7 to 9 at the funeral home.
L.J. Seagle Jr.
LINCOLNTON - Mr. L.J. Seagle Jr., 79, of 1268 Owl's Den Road, died Thursday, Feb. 10, 2000, at Lincoln Medical Center.
Born February 29, 1920, he was the son of the late Lawrence and May Dorsey Seagle. He was a member of Daniel's Lutheran Church and a member of the Lincoln County Farm Bureau Board of Directors. He was a retired farmer.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Ballard Seagle.
He is survived by one son, L. John Seagle III of Lincolnton; one daughter, Judy Kellogg of Lincolnton; one sister, Nell Wise of Lincolnton; four grandchildren, Ronda Isaac of Denver, Daniel Seagle, Kara Seagle and Lauren Seagle of Lincolnton; and two great-grandchildren, Jacob Isaac and Julia Isaac of Denver.
The funeral will be 3 p.m. Saturday at Daniel's Lutheran Church with the Rev. Bennett Harris officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
The family will receive friends tonight from 7 to 8:30 at Warlick Funeral Home.

Marie Fitzgerald McBrayer
RUTHERFORDTON - Mrs. Marie Fitzgerald McBrayer, 80, died Wednesday, Feb. 9, 2000, at Cleveland Regional Medical Center.
A native of Rutherford County, she was the daughter of the late James and Hattie Chaffin Fitzgerald. She was a member of First United Methodist Church in Rutherfordton and was a retired high school English teacher.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Matt McBrayer III.
She is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, Matt and Casey McBrayer IV of Lexington, S.C.; a daughter, Dr. Martha M. Jones of Shelby; two brothers, Dr. Ernest A. Fitzgerald of Winston-Salem and the Rev. Alton Fitzgerald of Clemmons; one sister, Onita Smith of Winston-Salem; and three grandchildren.
The funeral will be 4 p.m. Saturday at First United Methodist Church in Rutherfordton with the Rev. Wayne Allen officiating. Burial will follow at Rutherfordton City Cemetery.

LAWNDALE - Mrs. Ann Parker Dixon Smith, 80, of 300 Will Dixon Road, died Wednesday, Feb. 9, 2000, at Cleveland Regional Medical Center.
A native of Cleveland County, she was the daughter of the late Andrew "Andy" Ambrose and Mary Buff Parker. She was a retired teacher for Cleveland County Schools. She was a member of New Bethel Baptist Church, where she was a former Sunday school teacher and choir member. She was also a member of the Fallston Chapter No. 282 Order of the Eastern Star for 52 years, where she was past district deputy and past chapter worthy matron.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband, William Jesse Dixon Sr.; three brothers, Clint Parker, Earl Parker and Howard Parker; and a sister, Sue Parker.
She is survived by her husband, Milton "Mutt" L. Smith of the home; two sons and daughters-in-law, Bill and Gail Dixon of Lawndale and Stanley and Julie Dixon of Seguin, Texas; two step-daughters and step-sons-in-law, Joanne and Tom Caskins of Rock Hill, S.C. and Kathy and John Gardner of Shelby; three brothers, Cecil Parker of Seaford, Del., Boyd Parker of Grafton, W. Va.., and Ernest Parker of Valdese; two sisters, Jewel Elliott of Lawndale and Ruth Beam of Kings Mountain; seven grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren.
The funeral will be 11 a.m. Saturday at New Bethel Baptist Church with the Revs. Bobby Gettys and Ronnell Owensby officiating. The body will be placed in the church 30 minutes before the service.
Burial will be in New Bethel Baptist Church Cemetery.

A native of Harford County, Md., he was the son of the late E.B. and Betty Wilson Ellis. He was a off set press man at Dill Printing in Waco. He was a member of Mount Zion Baptist Church in Cherryville.
He is survived by his wife Chris Upton Ellis of the home, his step-son, Jimmy Calvin Willis of Gastonia; a brother and sister-in-law, David and Phyllis Ellis of Stanley; two sisters and brothers-in-law, Linda and Scott Carpenter in Kings Mountain and Debbie and David Mayfield of Virginia Beach. Va.; and a step-granddaughter, Taylor Willis of Dallas.
The funeral will be 11 a.m. Saturday at Mount Zion Baptist Church with the Rev. Wayne Key officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.

KINGS MOUNTAIN - Mr. Allen Fisher, 70, of 802 Southwood Drive, died Wednesday, Feb. 9, 2000, at his home.
A native of Cabarrus County, he was the son of the late Joseph David and Pearl Tiller Fisher. He was a member of Gospel True Holiness Church in Kings Mountain, and he served in the North Carolina National Guard. He was retired from Glen Raven and Clevemont Mills in Kings Mountain.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his wife, Janet Bryant Fisher.
He is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, Phillip and Brenda Fisher of Kings Mountain; a daughter, Jodi Fisher of Kings Mountain; a brother, Guy Fisher of Winston-Salem; six sisters, Lula Terry, Elsie Dixon, Bea Long, all of Kings Mountain, Lois Brown of Gastonia and Lib VanClovis of Decatur, Ga. and Peg Fipps of Georgia; 12 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
