FOREST CITY - Mrs. Saundra Sisk Stephenson Scruggs, 62, of 249 Sunset Memorial Road, died Monday, March 13, 2000, at her residence.
A native of Mecklenburg County, she was the daughter of the late Jasper Sisk. She was employed by the N.C. Service for the Blind as a Social Worker. She was a graduate of Limestone College and received her Master's Degree from Western Carolina University. She was also active in the Rutherfordton Lions Club.
In addition to her father, she was preceded in death by her husband, James Frank Scruggs.
She is survived by her mother and step-father, Emma Sue Daniel and Bo Padgett of Forest City; a son and daughter-in-law, Michael and Donna Stephenson of Rutherfordton; a daughter and son-in-law, Kim and Steve Bentley of Mars Hill; a sister and brother-in-law, Libby and Earl Harris of Forest City; a brother and sister-in-law, Olen and Mary Sisk of Asheville; three grandchildren, Zeke Stephenson and Davis Stephenson of Rutherfordton, and Austin Bentley of Mars Hill; and two nieces, Alicia Morris of Weaverville and Heather Murphy of Granite Falls.
A memorial service will be today at 4 p.m. at Crowe's Funeral Chapel with the Revs. Dean Baughn and James Daves officiating.
The family will receive friends after the service.

Stanley Pryor Jr.
SHELBY - Mr. Stanley Pryor Jr., seven month old son of Stanley and Tonlanda McSwain Pryor, died Sunday, March 12, 2000, at the home.
In addition to his parents, he is survived by three sisters, Alfrieda Dawson, Tiara Pryor and Skyler Wimbush; grandparents, Peggie McSwain, Thomas and Joyce McSwain and Ralph and Ann Pryor, all of Shelby; great-grandparents, Eula Mae Gordon and Ralph Sr. and Sadie Pryor, all of Shelby; two uncles, Anthony McSwain and Steve Fuller; three aunts, Cassandra McSwain, Jessica Pryor and Tina McSwain.
A graveside service will be Wednesday at 4 p.m. at Ramseur Baptist Church Cemetery with the Rev. W.C. Whitworth officiating.
The family will receive friends at the home of Ralph and Ann Pryor at 3138 Old School Road, Shelby.

SPINDALE - Mr. Earl Richard Daggerhart, 51, of 106 Wallace St. died Sunday, March 12, 2000, at Rutherford Hospital.
The funeral will be Wednesday at 2 p.m. at Crowe's Funeral Chapel.
Burial will follow in Sunset Memorial Park.

KINGS MOUNTAIN - Mr. Charles W. Wilson Jr., 78, of 308 Silver St. died Sunday, March 12, 2000, at Kings Mountain Hospital.
A native of Mecklenburg County, he was the son of the late Charles W. and Lucy Ewing Wilson. He was retired from Mauney Hosiery Mills and was a member of Macedonia Baptist Church, where he formerly served as a deacon, trustee, and Sunday School Superintendent.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Virginia "Jenny" Burch Wilson.
He is survived by two sons and daughters-in-law, Steve and Sondra Wilson, and Ronnie and Stephanie Wilson, all of Kings Mountain; two daughters and sons-in-law, Patti and Jackie Barnette, and Susan and Mike Blanton, all of Kings Mountain; a sister-in-law, Mildred B. Southers; and ten grandchildren, Jennifer Blanton, Crystal Wilson, Ashley Wilson, Megan Dixon, Brandon Dixon, Jessica Barnette, Wendy Barnette, Ronnie Wilson Jr., Zachary Wilson, and Garrett Wilson.
The funeral will be Wednesday at 11 a.m. at Macedonia Baptist Church with the Revs. David Philbeck and Bruce Davis officiating.
Burial will follow in Mountain Rest Cemetery.

ELLENBORO - Mrs. Nadine Dalton Lawson, 72, of 248 S. Glen St., died Sunday, March 12, 2000, at Rutherford Hospital.
A native of Rutherford County, she was the daughter of Dollie Liverett Dalton and the late Rucker Dalton. She was retired from the Cliffside Plant of Cone Mills, and a member of Trinity Wesleyan Church.
In addition to her father, she was preceded in death by her husband, C.T. Lawson.
She is survived by four sons, Thomas Gene Lawson, Charles Dean Lawson, Frank Shell Lawson, and Jeff Howard Lawson, all of Ellenboro; six brothers, Frank Dalton of Rutherfordton, Clyde Dalton of Forest City, Tom Dalton of Ellenboro, William Dalton of Sandy Mush, A.D. Dalton of Flint, Mich., and Eugene Dalton of Caroleen; four sisters, Janie Hoyle of Forest City, Marie Jackson of Shelby, Margie Devine of Swainsville, and Virginia Crocker of Spindale; seven grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
The funeral will be held Wednesday at 2 p.m. at Trinity Wesleyan Church with the Revs. Marlin Johnson and Danny McCain officiating.
The body will be placed in the church 30 minutes before the service.
Burial will follow in the Boiling Springs Baptist Cemetery.

Paul Hastings
LAWNDALE - Mr. Paul Andrew Hastings, 77, of 4836 Delight Road died Monday, March 13, 2000, at Grace Hospital.
A native of Cleveland County, he was the son of the late Moses Andrew and Goldie Walker Hastings. He was retired from Rock Hill Printing and Finishing Company of Rock Hill, S.C.. He was a member of Clover Hill United Methodist church. He served in the Navy during WWII in the Pacific Theater. He was a member of the Naval Destroyer Escort Club.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Hugh Lee Hastings and Nelson Hastings.
He is survived by his wife, Sue Carter Hastings of the home; a son and daughter-in-law, Andrew and Jackie Hastings of Lawndale; a daughter, Linda York of Lawndale; three brothers, Harry Bill Hastings of Lawndale, Shorty Hastings of Casar, and Dale Hastings of Hickory; six sisters, Merle H. Brooks of New London, Jane Cook of Polkville, Eloice Campbell and Dot Randall both of Valdese, Moselle Lingerfelt of Belmont, and Roberta Penland of Connely Springs; a grandson and his wife, Carter and Dana York of Lawndale; a granddaughter and her husband, Chelle and Danny Sparks of Stoneville; and three great-grandchildren.
A graveside service will be held Thursday at 2 p.m. at Clover Hill United Methodist Church Cemetery with the Revs. Wayne Buff and Jim Scott officiating.

Rochell Gentry
SHELBY - Mr. Rochell Gentry, 81, of 119 Peck Place, died Sunday, March 12, 2000, at his home.
A native of Cherokee Conty, S.C., he was the son of the late John Quincey and Etta Whittenburg Gentry. He was retired from Archie White and T.C. Strickland Construction Companies and was a member of Green Bethel Baptist Church.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by one daughter, Margorie Ann Maddox; three brothers, James Gentry, J.Q. Gentry and Willie Gentry; four sisters, Frances McDowell Blanton, Ida Thompson, Estelle Miller and Hazel McSwain.
He is survived by his wife of fifty-nine years, Eva Mintz Gentry; one daugher, Dottie Sue Sutton of Kannapolis; two brothers, G.H. Gentry of Shelby and D.J. Gentry of Seat Pleasant, M.D.; one sister, Myrtle Little of Kannapolis and one aunt, Lettisher Lattimore of Shelby.
The funeral will be Wednesday at 2 p.m. at Maple Springs Baptist Church with the Rev. Robert Dover officiating. Burial will follow at the church cemetery.
The family will receive friends 30 minutes before the service at the church.

KINGS MOUNTAIN - Mrs. Augustine "Red" Hart Smarr, 39, of 105 Brayton Lane, died Friday, March 10, 2000, at Gaston Memorial Hospital in Gastonia.
A native of Cleveland County, she was born August 8, 1960, the daughter of Theodore R. and Katie F. Hart. She was a former employee of Park Dale No. 5 in Kings Mountain and a member of Ebenezer Baptist Church.
In addition to her parents, she is survived by her husband, Mr. Thomas Smarr; three daughters, Ms. Tashia Surratt of Kings Mountain, Ms. Kelly Surratt and Ms. Jeanine Smarr of the home; one granddaughter, Keajah Surratt; two step-children, Thomas McCleave and Sakiea McCleave; six sisters, Letha Dawkins of Shelby, Theodoshia Cansler of Waco, Margaret Perkins, Judy Hart, Linda Hart and Sharon Hart, all of Shelby; four brothers, Theodore R. Hart Jr. of Goldsboro, Kenneth Hart, Scotty Hart and Donald Hart, all of Shelby; one brother-in-law, James E. Dawkins of Shelby; two sister-in-laws, Rebecca Hart and Marice Hart, both of Shelby; a mother-in-law, Ms. Emma Smarr; 22 nephews; 20 nieces; and many relatives and friends.
The funeral will be Wednesday at 2:30 p.m. at Ebenezer Baptist Church in Kings Mountain with the Rev. D. Byers officiating. Burial will be at the church cemetery.

Rev. N.W. "Jim" Olson
LINN, Mo. - Rev. N.W. "Jim" Olson, 49, of Route 1, Linn, Mo., died Wednesday, March 8, 2000, at his residence.
A native of Willmar, Minn., he was the son of Waldeen Heggeseth Olson and the late Norman James. He was the Pastor and a member of Liberty Bible Baptist Church and served in the Marine Corps. He was the owner of Liberty Accounting and Tax Service.
He is survived by his wife, Judy Carol Morgan Olson of the home; a son, David Olson of the home; a daughter, Diana Olson of the home; and a sister, Diane Kludt of Del Rapids, S.D.
A graveside service will be held Thursday at 11 a.m. at the Faith Baptist Church Cemetery with the Revs. Herman Simpson and Grady Gregory officiating.

Dewey 'Bob' Clark
SHELBY - Mr. Dewey Gene "Bob" Clark, 62, of 2403 W. Stagecoach Trail, died Monday, Feb. 28, 2000, at Cleveland Regional Medical Center.
A native of Cleveland County born on May 22, 1937, he was preceded in death by his father, J.C. Clark.
He was a retired production operator at Fiber Industries. He was a member of the National Guard and a member of Polkville Baptist Church.
He is survived by his wife, Mary Ann Bridges Clark of the home; his mother and step-father, Vernia Curtis and Edward Horton of Polkville; two sons and daughters-in-law, Kevin and Cindy Clark of Mooresboro and Greg and Sarah Clark of Ellenboro; a daughter, Karen Stroud, of the home; four brothers, James Clark and Tommy Clark, both of Shelby, and Cecil Clark and Clyde Clark, both of Forest City; four sisters, Helen Pruitt of Portsmouth, Va., Faye Lovelace of Polkville, Gail Alfonso of Pittsburg, Calif., and Grace Willis of Lawndale; a mother-in-law, Mildred Bridges of the home; and five grandchildren, Kelly Stroud, Benjamin Stroud, Marcus Brown, Jonathan Darnell and Amy Darnell.

GAFFNEY, S.C. - Mr. Jerry Haskell Gaffney Sr., 59, of 1238 Victory Trail Road, died Tuesday, Feb. 29, 2000, at his home.
A native of Gaffney, he was preceded in death by his parents, F.P. and Lydia Fowler Gaffney.
He was a member of the Baptist faith and was a retired self-employed utility contractor.
He is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Sherri Gaffney McAbee and Dennis McAbee of Gaffney; two sons and a daughter-in-law, Donald Eugene Gaffney of Marrietta, Ga., and Jerry Haskell Gaffney II and Tonya Gaffney of Gaffney; three granddaughters, Sherrei D. McAbee, Jerrica Gaffney and Peyton Gaffney, all of Gaffney; four sisters and three brothers-in-law, Corrine Owens of Greensboro, Dora and Joe Blanton of Shelby, Patsy and Charles James of Kernersville, and Freida and Jack Holmes of Gaffney; two brothers and one sister-in-law, Larry Gaffney of Mt.
