Tracy Hopper
LAWNDALE - Mr. Tracy Lamont Hopper, 20, of 133 Nolan Road, died Sunday, Aug. 8, 1999, at Carolinas Medical Center in Charlotte.
A native of Cleveland County, he was born on March 19, 1979, to Jasper and Forrestine Shuford Hopper. He attended Cleveland County Schools. He was a member of First Baptist Church of Lawndale.
He was preceded in death by three grandparents, Nathaniel Hopper, William and Lula Boyce Shuford.
In addition to his parents, he is survived by one son, TaQuan Hopper of the home; one sister, Angela Lavon Hopper of Atlanta; three brothers, Travis D. Hopper of the home, Alexander D. Horne of Lincolnton and Dravis Ruff of Shelby; three nieces, Brey Ah`n De`Airra Waters of Fla., Shacorya Grissom of Atlanta and Tiondra Robertson of Shelby; one grandmother, Annie Hopper of Lawndale; one great-grandmother, Dennie Hopper of Shelby; two godchildren, Ja`Quavious Craig and Que Boyce, both of Shelby; a friend, Brandy Odoms of Lawndale; and many other relatives and friends.
The funeral will be Wednesday at 3 p.m. at First Baptist Church Lawndale with the Revs. Gene Pryor and Billy Houze officiating. The body may be viewed Wednesday from 8 a.m. until 1 p.m. at Mobley's Mortuary. Burial will follow at Philadelphia United Methodist Church Cemetery.
The family will receive friends Wednesday 30 minutes before the service at the church.
D.C. "Sam" Thornburg Jr.
LINCOLNTON - Mr. D.C. "Sam" Thonrburg Jr., 78, of 2682 Gastonia Highway, died Monday, Aug. 9, 1999, at Carolinas Medical Center.
The funeral will be today at 3 p.m. at Pisgah United Methodist Church with the Revs. James R. Reeves and Rick Fite officiating. Burial will follow at the church cemetery.

M.J. Cook
CASAR - Mr. Minniefee Jerry Cook, 90, of 331 Wes Cook Road, died Tuesday, Aug. 10, 1999, at his residence.
A native of Cleveland County, he was the son of the late Wesly Arron and Emma Lou Blackburn Cook. He was a retired carpenter. He was a member of Saint Paul Baptist Church.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Shirley Ray Willis Cook; two sons, Jim Cook and Dewey Cook; four brothers, Crawford Cook, McKinley Cook, Brodus Cook and Moody Cook; and one sister, Bertha Warlick.
He is survived by two sons and daughters-in-law, Carl and Lunette Cook of Casar and Clyde and Hilda Cook of Granite Falls; one daughter, Nancy Campbell of Casar; one sister, Dezzie Lowman of Casar; and 13 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; and 9 great-great-grandchildren.
A graveside service will be Thursday at 2 p.m. at Saint Paul Baptist Church Cemetery with the Revs. Ernest Speagle and R.A. Brackett officiating.
The family will receive friends tonight from 7 to 8:30 at Stamey Funeral Home.

SHELBY - Ms. Flora Belle Putnam, 88, of 1101 N. Morgan St., Century Care, died Tuesday, Aug. 10, 1999, at Cleveland Regional Medical Center.

Billy Costner
SHELBY - Mr. Billy Dwight Costner, 66, of 715 Walker Drive, died Monday, Aug. 9, 1999, at Cleveland Regional Medical Center.
A native of Cleveland County, he was the son of the late Robert Webb and Elizabeth Lail Costner. He was a painter for Garland Ridings Painting Co. He served in the Army.
He was preceded in death by two brothers, Robert Flay Costner and Howard Lee Costner; and one sister, Helen Costner Grant.
He is survived by one brother, Leonard Costner of Shelby; a special nephew and niece and their children, Jeff and Carolyn Grant, Christie Grant, Casey Grant and Emily Grant; three nieces, Cherry Clark, Sandy Byrum and Gina Justice; and three nephews, Scott Costner, Robbie Costner and Donald Costner.
A graveside service was held Wednesday at 1 p.m. at Cleveland Memorial Park with the Rev. Len Byers officiating.
The family received friends Tuesday from 7 to 8:30 p.m. at Clay-Barnette Funeral Home and other times at 709 Walker Drive, Shelby.
Flora Putnam
SHELBY - Mrs. Flora Belle Hamrick Putnam, 88, of 930 Pleasant Drive, died Tuesday, Aug. 10, 1999, at Cleveland Regional Medical Center.
A native of Cleveland County, she was the daughter of the late Thomas and Ida Humphries Hamrick. She was a homemaker. She was a member of Zoar Baptist Church.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Gerald Eugene Putnam; three sisters, Ola Bridges, Bessie Humphries and Irene Adams; and four brothers, Ferris Hamrick, Elbert Hamrick, Lester Hamrick and Lloyd Hamrick.
She is survived by one sister, Vernie Bolton of Shelby; and many nieces and nephews. The funeral will be Friday at 11 a.m. at Clay-Barnette Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Kenneth Morrison officiating. Burial will follow at Cleveland Memorial Park.

James Wray
SHELBY - Mr. James Willard Wray, 66, of 105 Drum Road, died Wednesday, Aug. 11, 1999, at his residence. A native of Cleveland County, he was the son of the late David Charles and Anna LaNora Towery Wray. He was a truck driver for Burlington Industries. He was a member of Mount Zion Baptist Church in Casar. He was a Navy veteran.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one brother, Rev. Charles W. Wray; and one sister, Judith Wray Lingerfelt.
He is survived by his wife, Betty Lou Dollison Wray of the home; one son, James Christopher Wray of the home; one daughter, Jamie Christine McSwain of Shelby; three sisters, Velma Cook of Shelby, Nellie Shuford of Lawndale and Joann Macheit of Spotsylvania, Va.; and one grandson, K.J. Wray.
The funeral will be Friday at 2 p.m. at Clay-Barnette Funeral Home Chapel with the Revs. Wade Boone and Dale Angel officiating. Burial will follow at Palm Tree United Methodist Church Cemetery.

Wayne Hensley
MOORESBORO - Mr. Wayne Hensley, 50, of 115 Rocky Top Drive, died Wednesday, Aug. 11, 1999, at the VA Medical Center in Asheville.
A native of Cleveland County, he was the son of Mary Hollifield Hensley of Mooresboro and the late Ray Hensley. He was a retired jailer with the Cleveland County Sheriff's Department and an Army veteran of the Vietnam War. He was a member of the Boiling Springs Masonic Lodge and a member of the Boiling Springs Rescue Squad. He was a member of Goode's Grove Baptist Church, where he served as a deacon and a Sunday school teacher.
In addition to his mother, he is survived by his wife, Joyce Allen Hensley; one son and daughter-in-law, Rev. Robert and Suzanne Hensley of Bostic; one daughter and son-in-law, Donna H. and Frank Cromer of Mooresboro; four grandchildren, Ethan Cromer, Rebekah Hensley, Johnathan Cromer and Austin Ray Hensley; and two brothers, Wilbur Ray Hensley of Mooresboro and Donald Hensley of Gaffney, S.C. The funeral will be Saturday at 11 a.m. at Goode's Grove Baptist Church with the Revs. L.W. Toney and Mike Frazier officiating. Burial will follow at Cleveland Memorial Park with Masonic rites.

Christina Sanders
SHELBY - Mrs. Christina "Tina" Panther Sanders, 91, of Cleveland Pines Nursing Center, formerly of 501 W. Dixon Blvd., died Thursday, August 12, 1999, at Cleveland Regional Medical Center.
A native of Cleveland County, she was the daughter of the late Joseph and Sara Jane Brackett Panther. She was retired from Esther Mill. She was a member of Hoyle Memorial United Methodist Church.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Gus C. Sanders Sr.
She is survived by two sons and one daughter-in-law, Jerry C. and Barbara Sanders of Tucker, Ga., and Gus C. Sanders Jr. of Raleigh; and two grandchildren, Nathan Sanders and Maresa Sanders, both of Raleigh.
The funeral will be Saturday at 11 a.m. at Clay-Barnette Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Richard C. Clough Jr. officiating. Burial will follow at Sunset Cemetery.

FOREST CITY - Mrs. Gladys Mae Harris Hamrick, 98, formerly of Morrow Motor Road, died Wednesday, August 11, 1999, at Woolands Nursing Center in Rutherfordton.

CHERRYVILLE - Mr. Bobby Ray Graves, 62, of 500 Delview Road, died Wednesday, August 11, 1999, at Cleveland Regional Medical Center, Shelby.
A native of Spartanburg County, S.C., he was the son of the late Jesse Kiah and C. Maude Brown Graves. He was a member of Oak Grove Baptist Church of Cherryville. He was a self-employed carpenter and cabinet builder.
He is survived by his wife, Judy Kelly Graves of the home; one daughter and son-in-law, Debbie G. and Philip Jolly of Cowpens, S.C.; three brothers, Roy L. Graves of Bloomington, Minn., J. Cleon Graves and Billy W. Graves, both of Inman, S.C.; two sisters, Nancy G. Garland of Spartanburg and J. Marlene Shultz of Lincolnton; two grandchildren, Darryl B. Jolly and Dustin T. Jolly, both of Cowpens; and 15 nieces and nephews.
The funeral will be Saturday at 11 a.m. at Oak Grove Baptist Church with the Rev. Jack Calloway officiating. The body will be placed in the church 30 minutes before the service. Burial will follow at City Memorial Cemetery.

Max Hamrick
BELVEDERE, S.C. - Mr. Max R. Hamrick, 67, of 110 Ashley Circle, died Wednesday, August 11, 1999.
He was a native of Shelby, and had lived in Belvedere for the past 33 years. He was a member of Belvedere First Baptist Church, where he was a former deacon and a member of the Joe Schmidt Sunday school class. He was a Marine veteran of the Korean War. He was a retired driver with Carolina Freight Carriers where he worked for 25 years.
He is survived by his wife, Ruby Francis Hamrick; two daughters, Tracy Murphy of Jackson, S.C., and Lisa Tyler of Martinez, Ga.; his mother, Nezzie Sailors Hamrick of North Augusta, S.C.; three brothers, Clyde Hamrick of Barnwell, S.C., Harold Hamrick of North Augusta and Randy Hamrick of Belvedere; one sister, Linda Mullinax of Belvedere; and two grandchildren.
The funeral will be Saturday at 11 a.m. at Belvedere First Baptist Church with the Revs. J. Lloyd Prince and John D. Meyer officiating. Entombment will follow at Sunset Memory Gardens. KINGS MOUNTAIN - Mrs. Louise Viccellio Moore, 72, of Apt. 14A, Battleforest Apartments, died Wednesday, August 11, 1999, at Kings Mountain Hospital.
A native of Halifax County, Va., she was the daughter of the late Cephus and Sadie Walker Viccellio. She was retired from Wal-Mart and was a homemaker. She was a member of First Baptist Church, Kings Mountain.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Garnett Walton Moore Sr.; and two sisters, Susan Lee and Rosa Mae Russell.
She is survived by two sons and one daughter-in-law, Pete and Jeannie Moore of Lawndale and David Moore of Rock Hill, S.C.; three daughters and two sons-in-law, Vickie and Donald Cowan of Odessa, Fla., Susan Moore of Shelby and Karen and Jack Bell of Kings Mountain; two sisters, Elizabeth Meetze of Danville, Va., and Sadie Rae Roberts of Roxboro; eight grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

A native of Cleveland County, she was the daughter of the late Samuel Valentine and Hokie McMurry Davis. She was a homemaker. She was a member of Palm Tree United Methodist Church where she was a member of the United Methodist Women.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her stepmother, Ruby S. Davis; and three sisters, Ruby Short, Shirley Smith and Doris Eades.
She is survived by her husband, Fred Moser Lee of Lawndale; two sons and one daughter-in-law, Jimmy and Suzanne Lee of Fallston and Alton Lee of Lawndale; three daughters and sons-in-law, Geneva and Ervin Humphries of Raleigh, Nancy and Don Seaver of West Jefferson and Jane and Ronald Ashton of Travelers Rest, S.C.; two brothers, James Davis and Gene Davis, both of Shelby; a sister, Madeline Shuford of Shelby; ten grandchildren, Rusty Humphries, Cliff Humphries, Dee Seaver, Sandy Jackson, Debby Hester, Jaimee Lee, Jennifer Lee, Elizabeth Ashton, David Ashton, and Daniel Ashton; and four great-grandchildren.

In addition to her father, she was preceded in death by two brothers, Robert Lee Davis Jr. and Tommy Lee Davis.
In addition to her mother, she is survived by one son, Dondrake Davis of the home; one daughter, Vonkeysha Davis of the home; three brothers, Matthew Davis and Willie Franklin Davis, both of Kingstown, and R.C. Davis of Morganton; five sisters, Margaret Stevenson, Shirley Davis, Linda Hammonds, Vanessa Davis and Debra Renee Davis, all of Shelby; two sisters-in-law, Mary Davis of Kingstown and Jeanette Davis of Fort Walton Beach, Fla.; three grandchildren; six aunts and four uncles.
The funeral will be Sunday at 3 p.m. at Pentecostal Apostolic Church of Christ with Bishop W.A. Mitchell officiating. Burial will follow at Bethlehem Temple Church Cemetery.
