Lewis Izzi
SHELBY - Mr. Lewis Baton Izzi, 65, of 130 Veticuso Drive, died Wednesday, May 3, 2000, at Cleveland Regional Medical Center.
A native of Cleveland County, he was the son of the late Antonio and Carmelia Maria Diamo Izzi. He was the owner and operator of Plastic Oddities. He was the founder of Wilderness Trail and the Honalee Chapel for the purpose of children and youth, which also sponsored the Shelby Christmas Parade. He was the recipient of the Governor's Award for his work with Special Olympics and held annual Christmas parties for underprivileged children in Shelby and Virginia. He served in the Army in Germany. He was a member of Lafayette Street United Methodist Church.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Jerry Izzi; and his sister, Angelina Hall.
He is survived by his wife, Loretta B. Izzi of the home; a son, Lewis Baton Izzi Jr. of Shelby; three daughters and two sons-in-law, Gwen Izzi of Charlotte, Lynn Izzi and Jim Pinkham of Charlotte, and Diedra Izzi and Jody Ridings of Shelby; four grandsons, Kyle Izzi of Shelby, Philip Champion Jr. of Charlotte, Tyler Jones of Danville, Va., and LuJak Ridings of Shelby; a granddaughter, Suzannah Izzi Ridings of Shelby; three brothers, Mike Izzi of Myrtle Beach, S.C., Tony Izzi and Joseph Izzi, both of Shelby; and three sisters, Katherine McArthur and Pauline Glover, both of Shelby, and Christine Whisnant of Atlanta.
The funeral will be Friday at 3 p.m. at the Lafayette Street United Methodist Church with the Revs. Gervase Hitch, Rob Blackburn and David Greene officiating.
Burial will follow in Cleveland Memorial Park.
The family will receive friends Friday from 1 to 3 p.m. at the Lafayette Street United Methodist Church and at other times at the home.

Ruth Fulton
KINGS MOUNTAIN - Mrs. Ruth G. Fulton, 76, of 613 E. Ridge St., died Wednesday, May 3, 2000, at her home.
A native of Haywood County, she was the daughter of the late Carl and Manilla Ferguson Green. She was a former public school teacher in Kings Mountain, teaching third- and fourth-grades at Central School and was secretary for Fulton and Sons, Inc. She was a member of Boyce Memorial A.R.P. Church.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother, Joe Green.
She is survived by her husband, W.S. "Bill" Fulton Jr. of the home; three sons and a daughter-in-law, W.S. "Corky" III and Barbara Fulton of Kings Mountain, Carl G. Fulton of Hendersonville, and James P. Fulton of Mooresville; and five grandchildren, Sage Fulton, Jennifer Fulton, Charlotte Fulton, Elizabeth Fulton and Catherine Fulton.
A memorial service will be Friday at 2 p.m. at Boyce Memorial A.R.P. Church with the Rev. Doug Petersen officiating.
Burial will follow in Mountain Rest Cemetery.
The family will receive friends Friday after the memorial service in the church fellowship hall.

James Feaster
BELMONT - Mr. James Marshall Feaster, 40, of 2311 Shannon Drive, died Sunday, April 30, 2000, at his home.
A native of Cleveland County, he was the son of the late Pauline McGill Williams and the late James "Bill" Woods. He was employed by Freightliner of Mount Holly for 14 years. He was a member of Ellis Chapel Baptist Church in Patterson Springs, where he was in the All Male Chorus, the Mass Choir, the Layman's League and the Kitchen Committee. He was also a veteran of the U.S. Army.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers, Donald Williams and Levi Williams.
He is survived by his wife, Carmen Guest Feaster; his daughter, Rakeesha Pauline Lashay Moses of Shelby; 10 sisters and eight brothers-in-law, Katherine Lott, Jessie and Harold Lawrence, Linda and Ray Lockhart, Joyce and Willie Huskey, Katherine and Jimmy Curry, Cathy and Nate Jeffries and Faye McGill, all of Shelby, Ianta and Eli Jeffries of Danville, Va., and Terri and Robert Hopper, and Octavia and Jerrod Sowell of Charlotte; three brothers and two sisters-in-law, Robert Lee and Sharon McGill of Killeen, Texas, John Lewis Sr. and Sharon McGill and Willie Woods of Shelby; a mother-in-law, the Rev. Georgia Guest of Shelby; a father-in-law, Noble Guest Sr. of Shelby; a grandmother-in-law, Evelyn Beard of Shelby; a sister-in-law, Vicke Wright (Troy) of Gastonia; a brother-in-law, Noble Guest Jr. of Shelby; a great-uncle, Eugene McGill of Gastonia; and two mother-like aunts, Jewlene McGill and Margaret Wilson of Shelby.
The funeral will be Friday at 4 p.m. at Ellis Chapel Baptist Church with the Rev. W.B. Ellis officiating. Burial will follow at the church cemetery.
The body will be placed in the church two hours before the service.

DREXEL - Mrs. Annie Margaret Turner Powell, 86, of S. Main Street, died Wednesday, May 3, 2000, at Hospice Shytle House in Valdese.
Born December 5, 1913 in Cleveland County, she was the daughter of the late Lawrence Thomas and Lillie Mae Norman Turner. She was a member of Christ United Methodist Church.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a brother, Paul Turner; and three sisters, Ruby Page, Verna Eaker and Rosada Turner.
She is survived by her husband, James Bascom "J.B." Powell of the home; a daughter and son-in-law, Mahala Powell and Jerry Wayne Cannon of Drexel; a brother, James H. Turner of Lawndale; two sisters, Fannie Belle Ledford, and Vangie Turner, both of Cherryville; two granddaughters and a grandson-in-law, Tamara Joan and Darrell Biddix of Drexel, and Natalie Shea Cannon of Banner Elk; and three great-grandchildren, Brittany Shea Crump, Austin Wayne Couch and Madison Hope Biddix.
The funeral will be today at 2 p.m. in the Colonial Chapel of Sossoman Funeral Home with the Revs. Clyde Penry and Larry Fletcher officiating.

SHELBY - Mrs. Bobbie Lou Sides Groton, of 532 Forest Ridge Drive, died Thursday, May 4, 2000, at her home.
A native of Maiden, she was the daughter of the late Henry T. and Lucille Moon Sides. She was the pastoral secretary at Solid Rock Tabernacle Assembly of God in Ellenboro, where she was also a member.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a son, Michael Curtis Hefner.
She is survived by her husband, Thomas Howard Groton I of Carolina House of Forest City; a daughter, Tracy Hefner Beaver of Shelby; a son, Thomas Howard Groton II of Earl; a granddaughter, Jennifer A. Smith of Shelby; two grandsons, Joshua A. Smith and Donald L. Strange Jr., both of Shelby; a great-granddaughter, Jada A. Smith of Shelby; and two brothers, Henry T. Sides Jr. of Stockridge, Ga., and Nelson Sides of Goldsboro.

SHELBY - Mrs. Angelina Tamara Caldwell-Webber, 37, of 2512 Wildwood Drive, died Sunday, May 7, 2000, at her home.
A native of Shelby, she was the daughter of Marion Brooks Caldwell of Shelby and the late George Wesley Caldwell. She worked at Carolina Freight Carriers in Cherryville. She was a member of The First Baptist Church in Earl.
In addition to her mother, she is survived by her husband, Eddie Lee Webber; two daughters, Brooktazia Chere Webber and Kyra Elizabeth Webber, both of the home; her birth mother, Ruby Houser of New Jersey; a godfather, Joe Beasly; six aunts, Alice Caldwell and Helen Ford, both of Shelby, Liz Wilson-Agbassi, Martha Clark, Ada B. Culbreth and Mary Lou Pigford; six uncles, O.B.J. Burson, Arthur P.Burson, Napoleon Brooks, Bobby Burson, James Burson and the Rev. KINGS MOUNTAIN - Mr. James E. "Jim" Anthony Jr., 84, of 611 Hillside Drive, died Monday, May 8, 2000,
A native of Kings Mountain, he was the son of the late Dr. James Edward and Elizabeth Jane Crawford Anthony. He was a lifelong member of Boyce Memorial ARP Church, and retired from PPG Industries in Shelby. Her served in the Army during WorldWar II.
He is survived by his wife, Mary Evelyn Goforth Anthony of Kings Mountain; one son and daughter-in-law, Ed and Penny Anthony of Kings Mountain; one daughter, Jane Anthony of Pikeville; and two grandchildren, Lydia Anthony and Rebekah Anthony, both of Kings Mountain.

She is survived by her father, Steven Louis Degree and her stepmother, Sherry Degree, both of Shelby; her mother, Martha Stevenson Gaston and her friend, Namon Carlton Sr. of Shelby; three sons, Ke'Andre Stevenson, De'Andre Stevenson and De'Vonte Stevenson, and a daughter, Essence Stevenson, all of the home; three brothers, Michael Degree, O.J.
