ELLENBORO - Mr. Dennis Ray Fisher, 61, of 236 Short Road, died Saturday, May 13, 200, at Rutherford Hospital.
Born in Rutherford County, he was the son of the late Paul Ray and Daisy Bailey Fisher. He was a retired carpet mechanic and attended The Lighthouse Missionary Methodist Church.
He is survived by his wife, Elaine Jolley Fisher of the home; three sons, Doug Fisher of Spartanburg, S.C., Mike Fisher and his wife, Lisa, of Boiling Springs, S.C., and Dr. Kyle Fisher and his wife, Pennie, of Caroleen; two daughters, Angie Pye and her friend, Bruce Felmont, of Spartanburg, and Belinda Evans and her husband, Danny, of Ellenboro; and seven grandchildren, Paula Blackwell, Heather Fisher, Josh Fisher, Courtney Evans, Brandon Fisher, Brittney Fisher and Kylie Fisher.
The funeral will be Tuesday at 2 p.m. at The Lighthouse Missionary Methodist Church, with the Revs. Wayne Toney and Ronnie Robbins officiating. Burial will be in Corinth Baptist Church Cemetery.
The family will receive friends tonight from 6:30 to 8:30 at McKinney-Landreth Funeral Home.

Martha Millwood
BLACKSBURG, S.C. - Mrs. Martha Patterson Millwood, 77, formerly of 106 West Carolina St., Blacksburg, S.C., died Saturday, May 13, 2000, at Mary Black Hospital in Spartanburg, S.C.
The funeral will be Tuesday at 10 a.m. at Mountain View Cemetery.
The family will receive friends tonight from 6 to 7:30 at White Columns Funeral Service in Blacksburg.

Elizabeth Johnson
MORGANTON - Mrs. Elizabeth Botts Johnson, 68, of 119 N.C. 126, died Saturday, May 13, 2000, at Catawba Memorial Hospital in Hickory.
Born in Cleveland County Dec. 15, 1931, she was a daughter of the late C.S. and Florence Newton Botts. She was a homemaker and for many years was an employee of Alba Waldensian. She was a member of Calvin Heights Baptist Church.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two sisters, Mildred Warlick and Betty Jean Botts.
She is survived by her husband, Carl Johnson of the home; a son, William Carl Johnson II and his wife, Lisa, of Moncks Corner, S.C.; a daughter, Julia Denton, and her husband, the Rev. Ed Denton, of Durham; three brothers, Buford Botts, Howard Botts and W.C. Botts, all of Casar; four sisters, Billie Bridges of Valdese, Mary Lou Ennis of Merritt Island, Fla., Dorothy Norman of Valdese and Johnie Norman of Boiling Springs; and three grandchildren, Christopher Denton, Elizabeth Johnson and Cameron Denton.
The funeral will be Tuesday at 2 p.m. at Calvin Heights Baptist Church, with the Revs. Michael Beshears and T.B. Deese officiating. Burial will be in Burke Memorial Park.
The family will receive friends tonight from 7 to 8:30 at Sossoman Funeral Home, and at other times at the home.

Anna Martin
SHELBY - Mrs. Anna Louise Camp Martin, 85, died Sunday, May 14, 2000, at Hospice at Wendover.
Born April 14, 1915, in Cleveland County, she was the daughter of the late Lizzie Childers Camp and John Mattison Camp. She was a retired owner of Anna's Beauty Salon in Lincolnton.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Dewey Boyd Martin.
She is survived by her son Jim D. Martin and daughter-in-law, Rebekah Hoover, of Sierra Vista, Ariz.; three grandchildren, Mia Martin and her husband, James Vanos of Denver, Colo., James Martin of Tucson, Ariz., and Joseph Martin of Shelby; one great-granddaughter, Guinness Vanos-Martin of Denver; five brothers, John M. (Sam) Camp, Jerry Camp, Tom Camp, Robert Camp and Charles Camp, all of Shelby; and three sisters, Polly Camp Evans, Jane Camp Bridges and Brendan Camp LeGrand, all of Shelby.
A graveside funeral will be held in Sunset Cemetery Tuesday at 11 a.m., with the Rev. Jim Brackett officiating.
The family will receive friends tonight from 6 to 8 at Cecil M. Burton Funeral Home, and at other times at the home of Scott and Tammy Camp Trammel, 99 Park Circle, Shelby.

Ellis Tate
SHELBY - Mr. Roland Ellis Tate, 66, of 825 Elmwood Drive, died Saturday, May 13, 2000 at Rutherford Hospital in Rutherfordton.
A native of Cleveland County, he was the son of the late Roland Cliffton and Fannie Ellis Tate. He was a retired pharmacist for CVS Pharmacy. He was a graduate of Appalachian University and the University of South Carolina. He was a member of Aldersgate United Methodist Church, Cleveland Masonic Lodge #202, Oasis Shrine Temple of Charlotte, the North Carolina Pharmaceutical Association and the Cleveland County Pharmaceutical Association.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Genieve Duncan.
He is survived by his wife, Libby Mitchell Tate of the home; a son and daughter-in-law, Steven Ellis and Janet Tate of Charlotte; a daughter and son-in-law, Sandra Tate and Dominik Vake of Charlotte; a brother and sister-in-law, Sherwood and Dollie Tate of Shelby; and a brother-in-law, Jolly Duncan of Nebo.
The funeral will be Wednesday at 2 p.m. at Aldersgate United Methodist Church with the Rev. Dolores Queen officiating.
A graveside service will be Wednesday at 3 p.m. at Frederick Memorial Park in Gaffney, S.C.
The family will receive friends one hour before the service at the Epworth Center of Aldersgate United Methodist Church.

SHELBY - Mr. Ricky Dean Robinson, 42, of 208 Ramblewood Drive, Apt. 24, died Friday, May 12, 2000, at Thompson Place Shelby Apartment #5.

RUTHERFORDTON - Mr. George Steven Robinson, 45, of 233 Whiteside Road, died Thursday, May 11, 2000, at Cleveland Regional Medical Center.

Maggie Lookado
SHELBY - Mrs. Maggie Lee Terry Lookado, 90, of 1101 N. Morgan St., died Sunday, May 14, 2000, at Cleveland Regional Medical Center.
A native of Cleveland County, she was the daughter of the late William and Lizzie Warren Terry. She was a retired retail sales associate and was a member of Putnam Memorial Baptist Church.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, George Pinkney Lookado; a son, Donald O. Luckadoo; five brothers, Clemmie Terry, Roy Terry, Coy Terry, Flay Terry, and Bill Terry; and a sister, Odessa Terry.
She is survived by two sons and a daughter-in-law, Clifford Eugene Luckadoo of Shelby, and J.D. and Hazel Lookado of Jensen Beach, Fla.; two daughters and two sons-in-law, Kathleen Lookadoo and Charles Goforth and Donnis Lookadoo and Bill Moose, all of Shelby; a brother, Leon Terry of Shelby; thirteen grandchildren; thirteen great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.
The funeral will be Wednesday at 11 a.m. at Putnam Memorial Baptist Church with the Rev. Bryan Glisson officiating.
The body will be placed in the church 30 minutes before the service.
Burial will follow in Cleveland Memorial Park.
The family will receive friends tonight from 6 to 8 at Lutz-Austell Funeral Home.
Memorials may be made to the Putnam Baptist Church Building Fund, 1146 County Home Road, Shelby, N.C. 28152.

Ruth Schenck
SHELBY - Mrs. Ruth H. Schenck, 86, of 1715 Charles Place, died Monday, May 15, 2000, at Hospice of Wendover.
Funeral arrangements are incomplete and will be announced by Withrow Funeral Home.
The family will receive friends at the home of a daughter, Omega Spikes at 515 Monroe St. in Shelby.

Wilma Smith
ELLENBORO - Mrs. Wilma Wright Smith, 66, of 302 Raleigh Ledbetter Road, died Sunday, May 14, 2000, at Carolinas Medical Center.
The funeral will be today at 4 p.m. at High Shoal Baptist Church with the Revs. Eugene Passmore and Trey Gilliam officiating.
Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
The family received friends Monday from 7 to 9 p.m. at Harrelson Funeral Home.

John Lutz
SHELBY - Mr. John Franklin Lutz, 85, of Cleveland Pines Nursing Center, died Wednesday, May 17, 2000, at Cleveland Pines Nursing Center.
A native of Cleveland County, he was the son of the late John Ogburn and Annie Mae Webb Lutz.
He was former a co-owner of Lutz Furniture Company. He was a graduate of Riverside Military Academy in Gainesville, Ga. and served in the U.S. Navy in the South Pacific during World War II. He was employed at Campbell's Department Store prior to co-founding Lutz Furniture Company. He was a member of Central United Methodist Church where he was a member of the Hoey Bible Class. He was a member of the Shelby Kiwanis Club, the Men's Garden Club and was a founding member of the Shelby Amateur Radio Club. He was a Past Master of Cleveland Lodge No. 202.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Nancy Gray Coble Lutz; and a brother, James Egar Lutz.
He is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, John F. Jr. and Katherine Lutz of Gaffney; three daughters and sons-in-law, Ann Gray and Charles Harry III of Shelby, and the Rev. Susan Allred and her husband, Herb of Chapel Hill and Nancy "Gennie" and David Carpenter of Boiling Springs; two sisters and brothers-in-law, Marjorie Lutz and Dr. John Douglas of Charlotte and Nancy Lutz and J. Carver Wood Jr. of Bloomfield, Mich.; ten grandchildren and their spouses, Robin Harry Smith and husband, Loyd "Kip", Scott Harry and wife, Elizabeth, Benjamin Allred and wife, Jennifer, Jason Allred, Jennifer Carpenter Christensen, David Carpenter III, Meredith Lutz, Alex Lutz and wife, Michelle, Joshua Lutz and Haley Lutz; and nine great-grandchildren, Baxter Smith, Wesley Smith, Elizabeth Harry, Bishop Harry, Nanci Christensen, Nicholas Carpenter, Courtney Lutz, Kayla Lutz and Clayton Lutz.
The funeral will be Friday at 11 a.m. at Central United Methodist Church with the Rev. Carl Johnson officiating. Burial will follow at Sunset Cemetery with full masonic rites.
The family will receive friends tonight from 4 to 6 p.m. at Cecil M. Burton Funeral Home and at the home of Charlie and Ann Harry, 149 Lakemont Drive, Shelby.

Joseph Queen Sr.
HAMPTON, Va. - Mr. Joseph Yates Queen Sr., 81, of Hampton, Va., died Tuesday, May 16, 2000, at Riverside Medical Center in Virginia.
A native of Shelby, he retired in 1982 after 30 years as a conductor from the C & O Railway as a conductor. He was a member and former deacon of Liberty Baptist Church. He was an Army veteran who served during World War II in the European Theatre. He was awarded two Purple Hearts for his service in the Battle of Normandy and the Battle of the Bulge.
He is survived by his wife, of 58 years, Dabney Jessup Queen; four sons, Gene Queen of Leesburg, Ala., Glynn Queen of Middlesex, Wayne Queen of Williamstown, W. Va., and Joseph Yates Queen Jr., of Hampton; a sister, Corine Hobbs of Columbus, Ga.; a brother, Clarence Queen of Shelby; and eight grandchildren, Stephanie, Rachel, Mellisa, Jill, Kristen, Kendall, Casey and Holly.
The funeral will be Friday at 11 a.m. at Warwick Assembly of God, 1228 Todd's Lane, Hampton, Va., with Dr. Danny Forshee officiating. Burial will follow at Peninsula Memorial Park.
The family will receive friends tonight from 6:30 to 8 at Peninsula Funeral Home in Newport News.
Memorials may be made to the Liberty Baptist Church, building fund, 1021 Big Bethel Road, Hampton, Va. 23666.

Kenneth Emerson
FOREST CITY - Mr. Kenneth Emerson, 62, of 1292 Henson Road, died Tuesday, May 16, 2000, at the VA Medical Center in Asheville.
A native of Jefferson County, Texas, he was raised by the late Lottie Velma McDaniel. He was retired from the Army where he received the title Sergeant First Class. He received the following medals: National Defense Service Medal, the Vietnam Service Medal with three Bronze Service Stars, the Republic of Vietnam Campaign Medal, Driver Badge, Vietnamese Cross of Gallantry with Palm, Army Commendation Medal, Good Conduct Medal and the Meritorious Unit Commendation.
He is survived by his wife, Audrey Lovelace Emerson of the home; his mother and father-in-law, Asa and Geraldine Lovelace of Shelby; a sister-in-law and husband, Jean and Mike Noblitt of Shelby; a brother-in-law, Jean Marc Lovelace of Shelby; and four nephews, Cory Ferree, Will Ferree, Zack Lovelace and Noah Lovelace, all of Shelby.
The funeral will be tonight at 7 at the Clay-Barnette Funeral Home Chapel with Dr. Harold Fite officiating.
A graveside service will follow Friday at 11 a.m. at Rutherford County Memorial Park.
The family will receive friends tonight one hour before the service at the funeral home.

Daisy Harding
SHELBY - Mrs. Daisy Huffstickler Harding, 73, of 119 Crane Court, died Tuesday, May 16, 2000, at Cleveland Regional Medical Center.
A native of Cleveland County, she was the daughter of the late Duffie Furman and Minnie Arrowood Huffstickler. She was retired from textiles and was a Baptist.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Dennis Harding; three brothers, Doug Huffstickler, J.Y. Huffstickler and Boyce Huffstickler; and a sister, Margaret Greene.
She is survived by two sons and a daughter-in-law, Don Gibson and Phil and Jane Gibson, all of Shelby; a daughter, Vickie Van of Sumterville, Fla.; nine grandchildren; and twelve great-grandchildren.
A graveside service will be Friday at 2 p.m. at Sunset Cemetery with the Rev. Alan Sailors officiating.
The family will receive friends tonight from 6:30 to 8 at Clay-Barnette Funeral Home and other times at the home.

Ruth Logan
FOREST CITY - Ms. Ruth Mae Logan, 78, of 242 Spruce St., died Tuesday, May 16, 2000, at her home.
A native of Rutherford County, she born August 27, 1921, the daughter of the late John Walter and Nannie Hardy Logan.
The funeral will be Saturday at 2 p.m. at New Bethel Independent Church with the Rev. Wallace Gregory officiating. Burial will follow at New Bethel Independent Cemetery.
The body will be placed in the church one hour before the service.
The family will receive friends one hour before the service at the church.
