VAUGHN
MOUNT AIRY -- Mrs. Elizabeth Stanton Pardue Vaughn, 78, of 1501 West Fairfield Dr., Mt. Airy, N.C., wife of Mr. Lester W. Vaughn, died Friday, September 24, 1999 at the Northern Hospital of Surry County in Mt. Airy. Mrs. Vaughn was born January 18, 1921 in Yadkin County to the late Tuttle Ernest and Ina Lewis Pardue. She was a homemaker and member of the First Baptist Church of Mt. Airy. Surviving are her husband, Mr. Lester W. Vaughn of the home; four daughters and sons-in-law, Carolyn and Jerry Gilbert of Winston-Salem, Martha and Irving Boyles of Statesville, Mary and Charles Hennis of Louisville, Ky., and Anne and Bryce Woodie of Knoxville, Tenn.; nine grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; two sisters, Magdalene Moore of Mt. Airy and Barbara Chavka of Florida; two brothers, T.E. Pardue, Jr. of Greensboro and Richard Pardue of Mt. Airy. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Vaughn was preceded in death by a brother, Daniel Pardue. Funeral services will be held Sunday, September 26, 1999 at 2:00 p.m. at the First Baptist Church of Mt. Airy with services conducted by Rev. Kevin Wilson and burial is to follow in the Oakdale Cemetery. The family will receive friends Saturday night 7 to 9 p.m. at the Moody Funeral Home in Mt. YOST
ADVANCE -- Mr. James (Jim) Robert Yost, 89, of Advance, died Thursday, September 23, 1999 at Meadowbrook Terrace of Davie. An avid ham radio operator for more than 40 years, he retired from Western Electric in 1972 as a senior engineer. His career took him to may foreign countries and cities in the United States. Survivors include his wife, Nancy S. Yost; two duaghters, Vicki Cartner of Woodleaf and Judy Lynn Wolfe of Nantucket, MA; a son, Bob Yost of Bellingham, WA; eight grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. A graveside memorial service will be held at 3:00 p.m. Sunday, September 26, 1999 at Rose Cemetery in Mocksville. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the flood victims in eastern North Carolina.
BLEDSOE
Mrs. Metta Viola Johnson Bledsoe, 83, of Rt. 2, Dobson, N.C., widow of Mr. Otis Israel Bledsoe, died Thursday, September 23, 1999 at the Northern Hospital or Surry County in Mt. Airy. Mrs. Bledsoe was born April 21, 1916 in Surry County to the late Samuel Wilson and Dona Simpson Johnson. She was retired from Perry Manufacturing, was a homemaker, and a member of New Home Church of Christ. Surviving are three sons and daughters-in-law, J.C. and Sue Bledsoe of Blackstone, Va., Billy Junior and Carole Bledsoe of Mt. Airy, and Harold and Carol Bledsoe of Dobson; twelve grandchildren; fourteen great-grandchildren; two sisters and brother-in-law, Muriel and Roby Golden of State Road and Eula Wood of Dobson; two brothers and sister-in-law, Dayton Johnson of Dobson and Delmar and Alice Johnson of Dobson. In addition to her husband and her parents, Mr. Bledsoe was preceded in death by a daughter, Carol Bledsoe Hall; by a grandson, Scotty Hall; and by four brothers, Dixie Johnson, Isaac Johnson, Smith Johnson, and Glen Johnson. Funeral services will be held Saturday morning, September 25, 1999 at 11:00 a.m. at the New Home Church of Christ with burial to follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends Friday night 7 to 9 p.m. at the Moody Funeral Home in Mt. Airy. BURGE
Mrs. Betty Myers Burge, 43, of Cox Street, died Tuesday, September 21, 1999 at Wake Forest University Baptist Medical Center. Mrs. Burge was born July 10, 1956 in Winston-Salem, N.C. to Paul James and Virginia Ashbey Myers, Sr. and was an employee of K&W Cafeteria. Surviving are one daughter, Robyn DeHart and husband, Roger of Mocksville; six sisters, Faye Myers, Deb Holmes, Shirlley Stafford, Sammie Boone, and Pauline Myers all of Winston-Salem, and Helen Heffner of Siler City; three brothers, Thomas Myers of Mississippi, and Ronnie and Paul Myers both of Winston-Salem; and sixteen nieces and nephews. Her boyfriend, Edgar Ray Smith also survives. A graveside service will be held Friday, September 24, 1999 at 2:00 p.m. in Woodland Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the home of a sister, Sammie Boone, 2335 Bethel Church Rd. in Winston-Salem and at the graveside thirty minutes before the service.
CORBIN
Mr. Joseph Doyle Corbin, 85, of Winston-Salem, died September 22, 1999 at Forsyth Medical Center. He was born May 27, 1914 to John Draper and Tina Bowles Corbin in Kenna, W. Va. Mr. Corbin was a photographer for the U.S. Department of Agriculture. He was married for 63 years to his wife, Ruth McElwee Corbin of the home. he is also survived by one son, John D. Corbin of Charlotte; two granddaughters, Sarah Grace Corbin and Jonston Marie Corbin; two brothers, Paige Corbin of Petersburg, W.Va. and William Corbin of Summersville, W.Va.; and one sister, Greta Kiser of Melbourne Beach, Fla. Funeral services will be held Saturday, September 25, 1999 at Clemmons Presbyterian Church at 11:00 a.m. by Dr. Mark W. Sinnett. Burial will follow in Westlawn Gardens of Memory. The family will receive friends Friday evening from 7 to 9 at Vogler & Sons Clemmons Chapel. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Clemmons Presbyterian Church Building Fund.
CORNATZER
ADVANCE -- Mr. Earl Bradley Cornatzer, 89, of St. Claire Shores, Michigan, died in St. Claire Shores Tuesday. A graveside service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday in Advance United Methodist Church Cemetery with Rev. Derry Barnhart officiating. The family will be at Eaton Funeral Home Friday evening from 7:00 until 9:00 p.m. They request memorials be considered for Advance United Methodist Church, 1911 N.C. Hwy. 801 North, Advance, N.C. 27006. Mr. Cornatzer was born in Davie County, April 24, 1910 to the late Jacob Soloman and Ellen Beryman Cornatzer and was retired from U.S. Rubber with 40 years of service. He was of the Baptist faith and had lived in the St. Claire Shores area for 40 years. His wife, Ora Mae Lynch Cornatzer preceded him in death in 1995, and he was also preceded in death by seven brothers and sisters. Survivors include his son, Jerry Dennis Cornatzer of St. Claire Shores; a sister, Mrs. Sadie Gross of Pfafftown; a brother, Paul Cornatzer of Advance; and several nieces and nephews.

Herman Lee Dalton, passed away September 14, 1999 at N.C. Baptist Hospital. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, September 25, 1999 at 2:00 p.m. at Home Moravian Church in Old Salem. The family requests that in lieu of flowers a donation be made to a charity of your choice.

MADISON -- Mrs. Joy M. Dalton, 88, of 505 Wooten St., died September 20, 1999. Funeral services will be held 2 p.m. Friday, September 24, 1999 at Beulah Baptist Church where she was a member, burial will be in Collins Cemetery. She was a native of Stokes County, a charter member of Beauty of Madison, Chapter O.E.S., and a retired beautician. She is survived by Sons, Frank M. Dalton, Charles H. Dalton both of Madison and Carlton Melvin Dalton of Chico, Calif.; seven grandchildren; and ten great-grandchildren. The family will receive friends from 1:30 to 2 p.m. Friday at the church. FEATHERS
Mrs. Inez Williams Feathers, 84, of Brookridge Retirement Community, died Wednesday, September 22, 1999 at the Sticht Center at the N.C. Baptist hospital. Mrs. Feathers was born in Pennington Gap, Virginia, December 9, 1914 the daughter of George Jarvis and Iva Lee Adkinson Williams. Mrs. Feathers was a member of Wake Forest Baptist Church and a honorary member of the Wake Forest Womens Club. She was the widow of William Beattie Feathers who died in 1979. He was a former football coach at N.C. State University and Wake Forest University. Mrs. Feathers was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and lover of her flower garden. She was predeceased by five brothers, George, James, Charles, Clarence, and Van. A memorial service will be held at Brookridge Retirement Community Friday at 3:00 p.m. with a visitation to follow at Brookridge. A private family graveside service will be held Saturday at 11:00 a.m. at Forsyth Memorial Park. The family will receive friends at Vogler's Reynolda Rd. Chapel Friday from 7-8 p.m. Surviving are three daughters, Mrs. Kenneth (Lynn) Meadows of Winston-Salem, Mrs. Harlon (Brenda) Stewart of Advance, and Mrs. Jane Taylor of Carrollton, Texas. eight grandchildren, Mike and Andy Taylor, Luci Manning, Mrs. Graham (Marla) M. Gaspard, Amy Meadows, Hunter and wife, Kate Meadows, and Jenny and James Stewart; and three great-grandchildren, Katherine Manning, Graham Gaspard, and Victor Taylor. Memorials may be made to the American Lung Association of North Carolina.
GOODIN
James Charles (Jim) Goodin, Sr., of 168 Charlestowne Circle, Winston-Salem, passed away September 22, 1999, at Kate B. Reynolds Hospice Home in Winston-Salem. He was born March 1, 1933 in Catawba County. Mr. Goodin was a member of Knollwood Baptist Church and the Mocksville Masonic Lodge #134. He served in the U.S. Air Force and was with the North Carolina State Highway Patrol for 22 years. Mr. Goodin was preceded in death by his father, Pless W. Goodin. He is survived by his mother, Tess D. Goodin of Newton, N.C.; his wife of 48 years, Anne B. Goodin of the home; two sons, and daughters-in-law, Jimmy Goodin and wife, Barbara of Mocksville and Donny Goodin and wife, Bonnie of Advance; two daughters and one son-in-law, Debby Teague of Lewisville and Amy Powers and husband, Rick of Mocksville; thirteen grandchildren; and one great-grandchild. He was greatly loved by his family and all that knew him. In keeping with his expressed desire, Mr. Goodin's body was given to Wake Forest University Baptist Medical Center for use in medical research. A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Saturday at Knollwood Baptist Church. The family will receive friends, in the narthex, immediately following the service.
