Mrs. Louise Ferraiolo Stone, 54, of Weisner Court died Saturday, Jan. 20, 2001, at her home. She was born July 7, 1946, in New Haven, Conn. to Salvatore and Virginia Matheson Ferraiolo. She worked with Piedmont News Co. for a number of years and was a member of Christ Moravian Church and the A.R. Carr Sunday school class. Mrs. Stone is survived by her husband, Roger Lee Stone of the home; a daughter, Tracy Stone Egebrecht of Winston-Salem; son, Douglas Lee Stone of Winston-Salem; two grandchildren, Adam Stone Egebrecht and Nicholas Ryan Egebrecht; three brothers, Joe Ferraiolo and wife Mary of Winston-Salem, John S. Ferraiolo of Winston-Salem and David Ferraiolo and wife Sonia of Lexington; several nieces and nephews; a special sister-in-law, Debbie Stone Bargoil; and a cherished friend, Melba Carpenter. Funeral Services will be 2 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 23, 2001, at Hayworth-Miller Chapel by Pastor Randy Vogler. Burial will be in Oaklawn Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. Monday at Hayworth-Miller Silas Creek Chapel and following the service at the home of Tracy Stone Egebrecht. THARPE
Billy Tharpe, 67, of June Lane in Winston-Salem, died Friday, Jan. 19 at his home after five years of declining health. Mr. Tharpe was born in Wilkes County on Nov. 1, 1933 to Paul and Maude Waddell Tharpe. He was a process engineer for R.J.R. Archer before his retirement. He also served in the Air Force. Survivors include his wife, Doris Alexander Tharpe; daughters, Devae Tharpe Hanks and husband Stephen of Clemmons; and Beth Tharpe Baucom and husband John Charles of Lexington; grandchild Farrin Long of Clemmons; brothers Harry Tharpe and wife Hazel of Roaring River; Kermit Tharpe and wife Shirley of Clemmons; and Barry Tharpe and wife Brenda of Roaring River; sister Eloise Tharpe Lowery and husband Robert of Arlington. The funeral will be 11 a.m. Monday at Unity Baptist Church, where he was a member. The Rev. Nathan Parrish will conduct the service. The family will receive friends in the church hall following the service. There will be a graveside service at 3 p.m Monday at the Garden of Reflection Mausoleum at Mountlawn Memorial Park at 500 Sparta Road in North Wilkesboro. Deida '`Dee'' Elizabeth Wall, 92, formerly of Townley St., Hanes, died Friday, Jan. 19, 2001, at Forsyth Medical Center. She was born Sept. 20, 1908, in Davie County to John C. and Alice Owens Wall. She was a member of Hanes Baptist Church and was retired from P.H. Hanes Knitting Co. She is survived by two grandsons, Michael Wall and John Wall of Advance and two great-grandchildren, Matt Wall of Mooresville and Mandy Wall of Advance. Graveside services will be 2 p.m. Monday at Westlawn Gardens of Memory by the Rev. Robert Whitaker. The family will receive friends from 7-9 p.m. Sunday at Hayworth-Miller Silas Creek Chapel.
WILLIAMS
Mrs. Charlotte Hauser Williams of Winston-Salem died Friday, Jan. 19, 2001, at Forsyth Medical Center. She was born in Winston-Salem to Buford A. and Blanche Boner Hauser. She was an active member of First Baptist Church for 65 years, where she was a past president of the W.M.U. and worked in the children's department. Surviving are her loving husband of 55 years, Paul D. Williams of the home; a daughter, Janet Williams of Winston-Salem; a son, Dean Williams and wife Sue of Greensboro; three grandchildren, Kevin, Karen and Katie; and a brother, Worth T. Hauser of Florida. Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Sunday at Vogler's Reynolda Road Chapel by the Rev. Henry Stokes. Burial will follow in Union Hill Baptist Church Cemetery in Clemmons. CLY
Mrs. Avis Elizabeth Clary Cly, of the Brookridge Retirement Community, 1099 Hayes Forest Drive, died Sunday, Jan. 21, 2001 at her home. Mrs. Cly was born Dec. 16, 1911, to Martha Almedia Martin and Pearl Pinkney Clary in Jonesville. She grew up in Elkin where she attended public schools. She came to Winston-Salem as a young teen-ager and attended Business College. She worked in several business offices in town and later became the cashier in the coffee shop near the Greyhound bus terminal where she would meet her future husband, Perry Stokes Cly. She was an active member of Home Moravian Church Womens’ Fellowship, Matilda Ward Class, Senior Friends, Mission Band Society, a Diener and prepared meals in the church kitchen throughout the years and always for the band members and ushers at the Easter Sunrise service. She volunteered at the American Red Cross blood bank and enrolled in the Red Cross home-nursing course. She was an excellent bridge player. She later worked at the Salem College bookstore. After Mr. Cly’s retirement from the Greyhound Corporation as regional supervisor with 35 years of service, they enjoyed their mountain retreat at Chalet High in Fancy Gap, Va. Her daughter, Elizabeth Cly King (Wayne) preceded her in death in Charlotte on Dec. 18,1988. Survivors include two daughters and three sons-in-law; Mrs. Jean Cly Townsend (Jim), of Midland, Mich., Mrs. Martha Cly Shaffner (Don), of Winston-Salem, two grandchildren; David Wayne King, of Cary, and Frank Cly Shaffner, of Winston-Salem, and one sister-in law, Margaret Clary Locke, of Boerne, Texas. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 24, at the Home Moravian Church with burial to follow at God’s Acre. The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 23, at Vogler’s Reynolda Chapel. The family wishes to thank Dr. Lee Rocamora and the staff at Brookridge Retirement Community for their excellent care.
COALSON
MT. AIRY — Mr. Franklin Delano Coalson, 68, of 177 Lynn Road, died Saturday, Jan. 20, 2001, at Moses Cone Hospital in Greensboro. He was born in Surry County on Nov. 11, 1932, to Hugh and Susie Craddock Coalson. Mr. Coalson retired from McLean Trucking Co. in 1986. In recent years he was a Community Service Counselor at Skyline Memorial Park in Mt. Airy. He had attended Gospel Light Baptist Church in Winston-Salem and Faith Baptist Church in Mt. Airy. He was preceded in death by his parents, and one brother, Harvey Ray Coalson in November, 2000. Surviving are his wife, Carol Payne Coalson, of the home, one son, Tarron Coalson, and his wife, Micele, of Winston-Salem, two daughters; Melissa Coalson, of High Point, and Brigette Shelton and her husband, Larry, of Madison, eleven grandchildren, and one great-grandchild, one brother, Allen Coalson, of Walkertown, two sisters; Frances Queen, of Walkertown, and Jean Ulrich, of Laurel Hill, Florida. The family will receive friends from 1 to 2 p.m. Monday in the Mausoleum at Skyline Memorial Park at which time a graveside service will be held in the cemetery. The Rev. Frank Shumate will conduct the service. Vogler Reynolda Road Chapel has served the family in Winston-Salem and Skyline Memorial Park in Mt. Airy.

KERNERSVILLE — Mrs. Clara Mae Foster, 89, of Britthaven, of Kernersville, died Sunday, Jan. 21, 2001, at Forsyth Medical Center. She was living with her nephew, L.W. Frederick, of Kernersville. She was a retired nurse and was loved by everyone who knew her. She helped her niece Marilyn, with her petting zoo. She is preceded in death by one son, Bobby Foster. She is survived by one brother, Woody Frederick, of Tennessee, and two sisters; Freddie Zillich, of Michigan, and Sarah Barber, of Kentucky. Funeral arrangements are incomplete in Hackleburg, Ala. The family wishes to thank the staff of Britthaven of Kernersville for all of their care and compassion.
GORDON
Woodrow Scales Gordon, 84, the husband of Edna Lentz Doub Gordon, died unexpectedly Friday, Jan. 19, 2001 at Forsyth Medical Center. Mr. Gordon was born Nov. 20, 1916, to Scales H. Gordon and Eva Norman Gordon in Surry County. He lived for many years in Stanleyville and moved to Winston-Salem in 1983. He was first married to the late Ruby Caudle Gordon, who died in 1981. Mr. Gordon was employed by the R.J. Reynolds Corp. for 35 years. For 15 years, he worked as a volunteer at Forsyth Medical Center. He was an active member of Christ Lutheran Church. Eleven siblings preceded him in death. Survivors include his wife, Edna Lentz Doub Gordon; a son, Phillip Woodrow Gordon and his wife, Wynn Potts Gordon; and two granddaughters, Lesley Gordon and Michelle Gordon of East Bend. He was preceded in death by a son, William Scales Gordon, who died in 1990. He is also survived by a stepson, Marvin Clay Doub and his wife Janet Thomas Doub of Winston-Salem; two stepdaughters, Melanie Doub Ahr and husband Sean and Christina Doub Burton and husband Jeff; and three stepgranchildren, Andrew and Sarah Ahr and Nathaniel Burton. The family will receive friends at Hayworth Miller Silas Creek Funeral Chapel on Jan. 21 from 6 to 8 p.m. Funeral services conducted by the Rev. Pierson Shaw and the Rev. J.T. Byerly will be held at Hayworth Miller Funeral Chapel at 11 a.m. Jan. 22. Burial will follow at Parklawn Memorial Gardens. Memorials may be made to Christ Lutheran Church, 3205 S. HANELINE
MOCKSVILLE — Mrs. Ethel Poplin Haneline, 93, of West Maple Avenue, died early yesterday morning at Somerset Place in Mocksville. A graveside service will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday in Union Chapel United Methodist Church Cemetery with the Rev. Calvin Anderson officiating. The family is receiving friends and family at Eaton Funeral Home on Tuesday from 1 p.m. until the time of the service. They request memorials be directed to the Mocksville Pentecostal Holiness Church, 229 Milling Road, Mocksville, N.C. 27028. Mrs. Haneline was born in Guilford County, April 6, 1907 to the late Thomas and Lizzie White Poplin and was a homemaker. She was a charter member of the Mocksville Pentecostal Holiness Church. Mrs. Haneline especially enjoyed out of doors work and flower gardening. Her husband Harrison Haneline died in 1975. She was also preceded in death by two stepsons, Kenneth and Robert Haneline; a son, Harold Poplin, five brothers and a sister. Surviving are three stepdaughters, Clara Eggleston and Louise Haneline of Lexington, and Evelyn Jarrett of Thomasville; a stepson, Bill Haneline of Wyoming, Del.; a grandson, David Poplin and wife, Candy, of Mocksville; a great-granddaughter, Lauren Poplin; and a great-grandson, Dave Poplin, several step grandchildren and step greatgrandchildren; a sister, Frances Cromer of Winston-Salem, and a daughter-in-law, Deedy Poplin of Mocksville.
HUTCHINS
Mr. Hansel Gray Hutchins, 77, of 2800 Pioneer Trail, Winston-Salem died Saturday, Jan. 20, 2001, at Forsyth Medical Center. He was born in Yadkinville Aug. 18, 1923, to Loftin Gray Hutchins and Hattie Lewis Hutchins. Mr. Hutchins served with the Army Air Corps during World War II and retired from McLean Trucking Co. in 1980. He was a longtime member of Beck’s Baptist Church and the men’s Sunday school class. He enjoyed camping and golf. He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Cecil Hutchins. Surviving are his wife, Christine Deal Hutchins of the home; two sons, Hansel Gray Hutchins Jr. and wife Patricia of Lexington and Gregory Allen Hutchins and wife Leigh of East Bend; a daughter, Andrea Lynne Soots of Winston-Salem; four grandchildren, Nicole Long and husband Branden, Heather Hutchins, Jason Payne and wife Melissa and Jami Sink and husband Steven; and two great-grandchildren, Greyson Sink and Tyler Long. The funeral service will be 2 p.m. Monday at Vogler Reynolda Road Chapel conducted by Dr. Jim Nelson. Interment will follow at Forsyth Memorial Park.
