Mrs. Louise Ferraiolo Stone, 54, of Weisner Court died Saturday, Jan. 20, 2001, at her home. She was born July 7, 1946, in New Haven, Conn. to Salvatore and Virginia Matheson Ferraiolo. She worked with Piedmont News Co. for a number of years and was a member of Christ Moravian Church and the A.R. Carr Sunday school class. Mrs. Stone is survived by her husband, Roger Lee Stone of the home; a daughter, Tracy Stone Egebrecht of Winston-Salem; son, Douglas Lee Stone of Winston-Salem; two grandchildren, Adam Stone Egebrecht and Nicholas Ryan Egebrecht; three brothers, Joe Ferraiolo and wife Mary of Winston-Salem, John S. Ferraiolo of Winston-Salem and David Ferraiolo and wife Sonia of Lexington; several nieces and nephews; a special sister-in-law, Debbie Stone Bargoil; and a cherished friend, Melba Carpenter. Funeral Services will be 2 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 23, 2001, at Hayworth-Miller Chapel by Pastor Randy Vogler. Burial will be in Oaklawn Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. Monday at Hayworth-Miller Silas Creek Chapel and following the service at the home of Tracy Stone Egebrecht. TOTTEN
The Rev. William Totten died Saturday, Jan. 20, 2001. He is preceded in death by his infant daughter Annie Huliet Totten; his parents, David O. and Kate Reece Totten; his brother, Lt. David Reece Totten; and his sister, Kathryn Totten Vargo. He was born in Elkin, N.C. on Dec. 8, 1925. Survivors include his wife, Frances Allen Totten; his daughter, Missy Totten Craddock, and her husband, Curtis Dale Craddock of King; his son, John William Totten II of Charlotte; and his beloved grandson, William McNeill Totten of Winston-Salem. Also surviving are his niece Katy Vargo Garman and her family of Charlotte. The Rev. Totten served as associate minister of Knollwood Baptist Church from October 1968 until his retirement in December 1990. Additional ministries for the Rev. Totten included St. John’s Baptist Church in Charlotte as well as churches in White Plains, N.Y. and Lexington, Ky. He was a graduate of Baylor University and Southern Baptist Theological Seminary. He also completed doctoral studies at The Teachers College of Columbia University. He was an United States Navy veteran of World War II. The funeral service will be held Tuesday, Jan. 23 at 11 a.m. at Knollwood Baptist Church in Winston-Salem. Burial will follow immediately in the Knollwood Memorial Garden. WEBSTER
Mrs. Eleanor Jane Collins Webster, 76, of 134 West Church Street, Mount Airy, the widow of Paul Daniel '`Pete’’ Webster, passed away Saturday, Jan. 20, 2001 at her home. Mrs. Webster was born in Guilford County on June 14, 1924, the daughter of the late Robert Fitzhugh and Laura Jane Pruett Collins. She was retired from Northwestern Bank and was a member of Central United Methodist Church. Survivors include a daughter and son-in-law, Paula and Joey Moore of Tobaccoville, two stepsons and daughters-in-law, Dr. Paul D. and Jean Webster of Augusta, Ga.; and Dr. William Phillip and Ellen Webster of Punta Gorda, Fla.; a granddaughter, Madison Moore of Tobaccoville; six stepgranchildren; and a sister and brother-in-law, Betty Jean and Buck Rader of Lake Worth, Fla. The funeral service will be Tuesday, Jan. 23 at 2 p.m. at Central United Methodist Church. The service will be conducted by the Rev. Phillip Cole, with burial in the Oakdale Cemetery. WELLMAN
Mr. Henry Marvin Wellman Jr. , 83, of Bermuda Village, died Saturday, Jan. 20, 2001, at Forsyth Medical Center. He was born Feb. 8, 1917, in Rhodhiss to Henry Marvin and Winnie Wilson Wellman. Mr. Wellman was a member of Clemmons Moravian Church. He attended Duke University and graduated from Lenoir-Rhyne College. He was a veteran of World War II serving the U.S. Marine Corps where he landed at Guata Canal and two additional campaigns in the Pacific. Mr. Wellman served 30 years with active duty in Chile, Japan, and the Pentagon and retired as a colonel and commanding officer of Marine Base 29 Palms, Calif. He then joined Sears & Roebuck for the next 18 years as an executive at their corporate headquarters in Chicago, Ill. He retired in 1983 and moved back to North Carolina. Her served as a docent at Reynolda House and helped found the local chapter of the Chaine de Rotisseurs. He is survived by his wife, Martha Moretz Wellman, of the home, three children; Jane Wellman Egger, and husband, Tate, of Seattle, Wash., Henry Marvin Wellman III, and wife Karen Lind, Vincent Allfred Wellman, and wife Margaret Walsh, all of Ann Arbor, Mich., six grandchildren; Lt. Deke Egger, USN, Graham Egger, Ned Wellman, Daniel Wellman, Laura Wellman and Patrick Wellman, a brother, John Wilson Wellman, of Chester, Pa., and a sister, Sara Wellman Hamrick, of Kannapolis. A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Jan. 23 at Clemmons Moravian Church, with the Revs. Ray Burke and Jon Peterson officiating. Burial will be in Arlington National Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. Monday at Hayworth-Miller Kinderton Chapel. BENNETT
Mrs. Billye Taylor McMahon Bennett of Winston-Salem, the widow of the late Alfred Edward Bennett of Bristol, England, passed away Tuesday, Jan. 23, at Kate B. Reynolds Hospice Home in Winston-Salem. Mrs. Bennett was born Dec. 15, 1908, in Greenville, S.C., to Nora Nedalia Case and William Taylor McMahon. She graduated from Charlotte Center High School and Davenport College, Lenoir. She studied voice in North Carolina and New York and performed professionally on stage. Mrs. Bennett was a member of St. Timothy’s Episcopal Church, the Huguenot Society and the Daughters of the American Revolution. Surviving are a daughter, Mrs. Jane Long Craven, and a son, Albert Benjamin Long Jr., of Winston-Salem. Also surviving are six grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren. Private interment services will be held in Greenville, S.C. In lieu of flowers, those wishing to do so may make contributions to Hospice Palliative CareCenter or a charity of their choice.

MOCKSVILLE — Mrs. Ruby Sedberry Blackwood, 85, of Junction Road died Wednesday, Jan. 24, 2001, at her residence. A graveside service will be held at 11 a.m. Friday at Rowan Memorial Park in Salisbury. The family will be at Eaton Funeral Home from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Thursday. They request that memorials be considered for Hospice of Davie County, P.O. Box 848, Mocksville, NC 27028. Mrs. Blackwood was born May 18, 1915, in Davie County to the late Eugene Kenneth and Ida Brogdon Sedberry. She was retired from Burlington Industries of Cooleemee, Davie County Hospital, and was a member of Cooleemee United Methodist Church. She was preceded in death by her husband, Ray Blackwood, in 1969. Survivors include a son and daughter-in-law, Bob and Loraine Blackwood of Mocksville with whom she had made her home for the past several years; three grandchildren, Lisa B. Salvaggio of Charlotte, David K. Blackwood of Cary, and Lorri Blackwood of Winston-Salem; three great-grandchildren, Tara E. Potts, Brett Blackwood and Briana Blackwood; and a sister, Mildred S. Stallings of Rutherfordton.

PINNACLE — Mrs. Eva Emerson Bottoms, 85, of 3189 Volunteer Road passed away Tuesday evening, Jan. 23, 2001, at her daughter and son-in-law’s home. She was born Sept. 30, 1915, in Ararat, Va., to William Henry and Emma Scott Bishop. Mrs. Bottoms was a beautician and a member of Friendly Chapel Church. Surviving are a daughter and son-in-law, Donna and Doug Jessup of Pinnacle; a son and daughter-in-law, Ken and Edna Emerson of Hudson, Fla.; a stepdaughter and stepson-in-law, Ruby and Lonnie Dunman of Pilot Mountain; a stepson and stepdaughter-in-law, R.B. and Barbara Bottoms of Pilot Mountain; several grandchildren, great-grandchildren; stepgrandchildren; and stepgreat-grandchildren; three sisters, Evelyn Carter of Mount Airy, Sylvia Ogles of Granite Falls and Ethel York of Thomasville; and a brother, Arthur Bishop of Mount Airy. Mrs. Bottoms was preceded in death by two husbands, Herman Emerson and Roy Bottoms; a daughter, Janie Holt; two sisters; and four brothers. Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Friday morning, Jan. 26, 2001, at Cox-Needham Funeral Home and Chapel, conducted by Brother Don Collins, the Rev. Milton Sewell and the Rev. Robbie Stephens. Mrs. Elizabeth Sain McDaniel Burns, known to family and friends as '`Lib’‘ died at the age of 83 in the family home Tuesday, Jan. 23, 2001, following a brief illness. Mrs. Burns was born in Mocksville June 6, 1917. Her parents were John Lee McDaniel and Mattie Estelle Sain McDaniel. Mrs. Burns lived most of her life in Winston-Salem, graduated from R.J. Reynolds High School and was member of Burkhead United Methodist Church. In addition to her role as a lifelong mother and homemaker, Mrs. Burns served as the personal secretary to the district superintendent of the Northeast District United Methodist Churches from 1956 to 1976. She was preceded in death by her husband, Thomas J. Burns and her sisters, Martha McDaniel Fansler and Ella Mae McDaniel Hedrick. She is survived by a son, Thomas J. Burns Jr., a resident of Washington, D.C., as well as a number of cousins, nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday at Vogler & Sons Funeral Home on Reynolda Road. Funeral services will be conducted at the chapel in the funeral home Friday morning at 11 a.m. with the Rev. Kathie C. Sherrill and the Rev. Kenneth G. Fansler officiating. Mr. R.D. Carson, 85, of Winston-Salem, passed away Wednesday, Jan. 24, 2001, at the Kate B. Reynolds Hospice Home. He was born Feb. 15, 1915, in Alexander County to Ina Mae Brown and Mack Little Carson. Mr. Carson was a member of Northwoods Baptist Church and retired from Pilot Freight. Mr. Carson was a U.S. Army World War II veteran of the Asia/Pacific Campaign, a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars, a member of the 27th Infantry Division and was awarded the Combat Infantry Badge and the Bronze Star. He was preceded in death by his wife, Nell McGuire Carson in 1999 and his son, John L. Carson in 1972. Surviving are a son, Danehy A. Carson of Winston-Salem; sisters-in-law, Nancy Bodenheimer (husband Wes) and Bessie Bowles of Winston-Salem; three brothers-in-law, J.D. McGuire and Joe McGuire of Lenoir and Mr. Flay McGuire (wife Ruth) of Winston-Salem; special family friend, Frances Elder of Winston-Salem; and several nieces and nephews. A funeral service will be held 2 p.m. Friday, Jan. 26, 2001 at Hayworth-Miller Silas Creek Chapel with the Rev. Henry Cook officiating. Burial will follow in Gardens of Memory, Walkertown. YADKINVILLE — Mrs. Ruth Anderson Eddleman, 94, of Willowbrook Healthcare Center in Yadkinville died Tuesday, Jan. 23, 2001. She was born in North Wilkesboro on Nov. 9, 1906, to Arthur Anderson and Lula Crouch Anderson. She was a loyal member of Forbush Baptist Church where she taught Sunday school for many years. Mrs. Eddleman was retired from the Turner-White Casket Co. after 46 years. She was preceded in death by her parents and by her husband of 67 years, George Prather Eddleman, in 1990. Her long and happy life was made possible by her many friends and neighbors. A memorial service will be held at Forbush Baptist Church at 3 p.m., Jan. 26, 2001, at 3 p.m. by Pastor Kelly Porter. She will lie in state from 2:30 to 3 p.m. Interment will follow in the Forbush Baptist Church Cemetery. Friends will be received from 7 to 9 p.m. Jan. 25, 2001, at Gentry Family Funeral Service on Highway 601, Yadkinville.
