MAXWELL
Mrs. Helen L. Maxwell, 66, of Winston-Salem died Jan. 29, 2001, after a lengthy illness. She was a loving mother and grandmother and was of the Baptist faith. Survivors include her husband, William Maxwell; two daughters, Sherrie Louise Maxwell of Winston-Salem and Alicia Raylene Mabe of Clemmons; a son, Danny Ray Maxwell of Walkertown; two granddaughters, Michelle Willard of Georgia and Crystal Mabe of Clemmons; a great grandson, Ryan Willard of Georgia; a brother and a sister, Joeann Anthony of South Carolina and Arthur Gwyn of Charlotte. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Hollow Road Baptist Church. The family will receive friends at the church, for an hour before the service. The Rev. Jimmy Bowden and the Rev. Jerry Goode will officiate. Interment will be at Gardens of Memory in Walker-town. Arrangements by Memorial Funeral Chapel, 765-2793.

NICHOLS
MOUNT AIRY — Mrs. Emma G. Nichols of 113 Pipers Gap Road, widow of Mr. William Mose Nichols, passed away Monday, Jan. 29, 2001, at Hugh Chatham Memorial Hospital in Elkin. Mrs. Nichols was born in Surry County on May 4, 1914, to Columbus '`Lum’‘ and Ellen Payne Golding. She was married for 53 years to her beloved husband Mose, who preceded her in death in 1986. Mrs. Nichols was a charter member of Franklin Heights United Methodist Church where she was active for many years in various leadership positions. She will be lovingly missed by her sister and brother-in-law, Ona and Claude Golding of Mount Airy, and brother and sister-in-law, Randy and Mary Sue Golding of Mount Airy, as well as seven nieces and nephews, including a special nephew, Mark Golding of Mount Airy and numerous cousins, grandnieces, grandnephews, extended family members and their spouses. Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Wednesday at Franklin Heights United Methodist Church, conducted by the Rev. Carl McArn and the Rev. Dennis '`Bud’‘ Cameron with burial to follow at Oakdale Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Moody Funeral Home. Memorials may be made to the building fund at Franklin Heights United Methodist Church at 614 S. Franklin Road, Mount Airy, NC 27030.

SHORE
HAMPTONVILLE — Mr. William Thomas '`W.T.’‘ Shore, 77, died Monday, Jan. 29, 2001, at Davis Memorial Hospital in Statesville. Mr. Shore was born Aug. 26, 1923, in Wilkes County to Tom and Pearl Gray Shore. Mr. Shore was a devoted husband, father, grandfather and brother. He was a retired tobacco farmer and was a member of Union Baptist Church, Hamptonville. Surviving are his wife, Margaret Cheek Shore of the home; four children, Jeff Shore and wife Wanda, Joey Shore and wife Tammy, Cindy McCollum and husband Chris and Rodney Shore and wife Kim, all of Hamptonville; five grand-children, Emily, Ashley, Jake, Molly and Lauren; two sisters, Ruby Swaim of Hamptonville and Mozelle Wooten of Jonesville; and a special sister-in-law, Lois Cheek of Yadkinville. Funeral Services will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 31, 2001, at Union Baptist Church by the Rev. Kenny Pardue and the Rev. Don Blevins. Mr. Shore will lie in state from 1:30 to 2 p.m. before the service. Burial will follow the service in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends Tuesday, Jan. 30, starting at 6:30 p.m. at Union Baptist Church. In lieu of flowers, memorials are to be made to the American Diabetes Association, 434 Fayetteville Street Mall, 2 Hanover Square, Suite 1600, Raleigh, NC 27601, or to the Union Baptist Church Cemetery Fund, c/o Carol Roberts, 919 Union Baptist Church Road, Hamptonville, NC 27020. Gentry Family Funeral Service of Jonesville is serving the family.

SIZEMORE
Mr. Garry Blaine Sizemore, 48, died Sunday, Jan. 28, 2001, at Forsyth Medical Center. Mr. Sizemore was co-founder of Little Richard’s BBQ Restaurants in 1991 in Winston-Salem, Clemmons and Yadkinville. In 1992 he co-founded Eastern Food Equipment Co. Mr. Sizemore was previously employed with Foodcraft Equipment Co. for 17 years. He was also on the board of Midway Fire Department for six years. Mr. Sizemore was an active member of Canaan United Methodist Church. Mr. Sizemore was preceded in death by his mother, Naoma Beeson Sizemore. Survivors are wife Laura Berrier Sizemore of the home; son Joel Sizemore and wife Lisa; daughters Jennifer and husband Doug Maready and Sarah Sizemore of Winston-Salem; two grandchildren Carson and Abigail; father McDaniel Sizemore and wife Wilma of Lexington; two brothers, Dannie and wife Marie and Barry and wife Dottie of Lexington; and eight nephews and nieces. Mr. Sizemore was a great uncle to Dylan Hemrick. A funeral service will be 3 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 30, at Canaan United Methodist Church. Memorials may be made to either the Cancer Service, Inc., 3175 Maplewood Ave., Winston-Salem, NC 27103 or Canaan United Methodist Church, 1760 Shady Grove Church Road, Winston-Salem, NC 27107. Hayworth-Miller Silas Creek Chapel is serving the family.

SPACH
Mr. Norman Franklin Spach, age 79, died Monday, Jan. 29, 2001, at Forsyth Medical Center. He was born June 17, 1921, in Forsyth County, a son of the late Charles and Daisy Knight Spach. He attended Gray High School and was a World War II veteran. He retired from Hanes Knitting Co. after 34 years of service. Mr. Spach was of the Baptist faith. Surviving are his wife, Mrs. Frances Motsinger Spach of the home; three daughters, Barbara Clodfelter and husband Weldon and Patti Parrish and husband Norman of Kernersville and Kay S. Long of Winston-Salem; a brother, W.E. Spach of Kernersville; a sister, Grace Blalock of Winston-Salem; five grandchildren, Weldon E. Clodfelter, Jr., Michael L. Coldfelter, Ashley Long, Alison Murphy, and Michelle Parrish; and four great-grandchildren. A graveside service will be conducted 11 a.m. Wednesday, Jan. 31, 2001, at Waughtown Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the cemetery after the service and at other times at the home of Mrs. Frances Spach. Memorials may be made to the American Heart Association, P.O. Box 25086, Winston-Salem, NC 27114. Hayworth-Miller-Cain Funeral Service, Kernersville, is assisting the Spach family.

STEELE
MOCKSVILLE — Mr. Abner Randolph Steele, 77, of 1565 U.S. Highway 601 S. died at his home Jan. 28 after a period of illness. He was born in Davie County, the son of the late Forest McKinley and Blanche Jones Steele. He was educated in the Davie County and Rowan County schools and furthered his education at Elizabeth City University and A&T State University. He retired from Southern Railroad Co. of Linwood, was a World War II veteran and was a member of Mocksville Second Presbyterian Church. He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Jimmie Lou Tabor Steele of Mocksville; two sons, Abner (Sonya) Steele and Jimmy Steele of Mocksville; a daughter, Jane Steele of the home; three brothers, John Q. Steele of Winston-Salem, Carl Steele of Camp Spring, Md., and Minor Steele of Mocksville; and six sisters, Ruth Lewis and Sylvia Steele of Mocksville, Mary Thompson of Tampa, Fla., and Odelle Searle, LeVone Norwood and Azalea Carter, all of Maryland. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Mocksville Second Presbyterian Church by the Rev. Roxana M. Atwood. Burial will be in the church cemetery. STEVENSON
Robert L. Stevenson died Jan. 24, 2001. Mr. Stevenson was a veteran of World War II. He worked for the Veterans Administration in Winston-Salem for over 25 years. He is survived by his son Jonathan Holbert Stevenson and his wife Donna Pulcrano Stevenson and two grandchildren. Also surviving are his wife Virginia Welborn Stevenson; her daughter Jan Covey Masten and her husband Ronnie Masten; two grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. Mr. Stevenson was a resident of Forsyth County for over 40 years. A graveside service will be held at Parklawn Memorial Gardens on Tuesday, Jan. 30, at 11 a.m.

WELCH
DOBSON — Barbara Jean Neill Welch, 58, of Jenkins Town Road died Sunday, Jan. 28, 2001, at the Forsyth Medical Center in Winston-Salem. She was born in Coweta County, Ga., to Harold Neill and Alpha Turner Neill on Sept. 29, 1942. She was preceded in death by her mother. Surviving are her father, Harold Neill of Georgia; three daughters and sons-in-law, Angelia and Mike Loy of Winston Salem, Diane and Buddy Jenkins of Dobson and Linda and Tony Beck of Dobson; two sons and a daughter-in-law, Greg and Karen Welch of King and Eric '`Rock’‘ Welch of the home; eight grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; a brother, Jerry Neill of Lake City, Fla.; and special friends Larry and Brenda Colvard of Dobson. Funeral services will be held 2 p.m. Thursday at Mount Pleasant Baptist Church with burial in the church cemetery. Her body will remain at Davis & Son Funeral Home until carried to the church to lie in state 30 minutes prior to the services. The family will receive friends at Davis & Son Funeral Home in Dobson Wednesday evening from 7 until 9.

WILLIAMS
Mr. Coy McKiever Williams, 73, of Winston-Salem died Monday, Jan. 29, 2001, at the Kate B. Reynolds Hospice Home. He was born May 10, 1927, in Forsyth County to the late Pleasant Payne and Bessie Davis Williams. Mr. Williams served in the U.S. Army during World War ll. He was retired from First Union Bank with 26 years service and later retired from Setzer Hardware Co. Mr. Williams was a member of Waughtown Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by two brothers, Walter and Paul Williams. Surviving are his wife, Arvella Brown Williams of the home; a daughter, Janet Van Dagna and husband Jerry of Charlotte; a sister, Juanita Boner of Winston-Salem and a number of nieces and nephews. Funeral Services will be held 2 p.m. Wednesday at Hayworth-Miller Silas Creek Chapel by the Rev. Joe McWethy. Burial will follow in Oaklawn Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to Kate B. Reynolds Hospice Home, 101 Hospice Lane, Winston-Salem, NC 27103 or to Waughtown Baptist Church, 1538 Waughtown St., Winston-Salem, NC 27107.

WELBORN
HARMONY -- Mr. Manuel Kdon Welborn, 61, of 138 Highland Point Ave., Harmony, N.C., died Saturday, October 2, 1999 at his home. He was born February 16, 1938 to the late John Robert and Victoria Mathis Welborn. He was a truck driver for UNICON Concrete in Statesville and a member of Hunting Creek Friends Church. In addition to his parents, Mr. Welborn was preceded in death by a daughter, Wanda K. Welborn in July, 1991. He is survived by his fiancee of 20 years, Willa Dean Combs; one daughter, Vickie (David) Schneider of Harmony; two sons, Michael Welborn and Tony Welborn, both of Harmony; four grandchildren, Amy and Dale Schneider, Jaclyn Crosby, and Jason Grimm; one great grandchild, Kaylee Crosby; two sisters, Mrs. Sheloma W. Johnson of Ronda and Mrs. Lois W. Clay of Richmond, Va.; four brothers, Arlen L. Welborn of Harmony, Robert Lee Welborn of Hamptonville, Lenny Ray Welborn of Union Grove, and Royce Welborn of Hamptonville; and his fiancee's daughters, Sherry Combs Mohler and Gloria Summers, both of Union Grove. Funeral services will be held 2:30 p.m., Tuesday, October 5 at Hunting Creek Friends Church by Rev. Milton Jordan and Rev. Glenn Crews. The body will lie in state thirty minutes prior to the service. The family will receive friends from 7:00-9:00 p.m. Monday at Gentry Family Funeral Service, US Hwy 601N, Yadkinville.
