SEXTON
LEXINGTON -- William Herman Sexton, 75, of 268 Jolly Rd., died Thursday, October 7, 1999 at 5:30 p.m. in Randolph Memorial Hospital. He was born July 11, 1924 in Davidson County a son of Henry Walser and Alice Hill Sexton. He was a wood carver with Commercial Carving for 45 years and Modern Carving for 10 years. He was a veteran of W.W. II having served in the U.S. Army, a member of the Silver Valley Civitan Club for 22 years, and past president of the club in 79-80 and in 83-84. He was of the Holiness faith. On April 22, 1946 he was married to Odessa Jarrett who survives of the home. Also surviving are three daughters, Miss Naomi Sexton of the home, Ms. Jerri Bundy of Whiteville, and Mr. Robert (Kay) Embler of Thomasville; one son, Charles Sexton of Lexington; one brother, Ray Von Sexton of Thomasville; three grandchildren, Dwayne Bundy, Candy Embler, and Crystal Sexton Tillotson; and two great-grandchildren, Brittany and Sarah Bundy. Funeral will be held Sunday at 3 p.m. in Family Funeral Care Chapel by Rev. Lacy Cagle and Rev. Johnny Albertson. Burial will be in Clarksbury United Methodist Church Cemetery with full military honors by the Randolph County Honor Guard. The body will remain at Family Funeral Care, 18 Randolph St., Thomasville and the family will be at the funeral home Saturday from 7 until 9 p.m. Memorials may be directed to Silver Valley Fire Department, 2370 Old Hwy. 109, Lexington, N.C. 27292 of Silver Valley Civitan Club c/o Gary Gallimore, 12539 E. Old Hwy. 64, Lexington, N.C. 27292.

SHORE
HAMPTONVILLE -- Mrs. Mae Boyd Shore, 75, of Old U.S. 421 West, died Thursday, October 7, 1999 at Wilkes Regional Hospital. She was born May 9, 1924 to the late John and Vetral Walker Vestal. She graduated from Draughn's Business College. Mrs. Shore retired from First Union National Bank with 33 years of service and attended Asbury United Methodist Church. She was preceded in death by her husband, Wesley Shore; two brothers, Harvey and Paul Boyd; and a sister, Ruth Hayes. Surviving are one daughter, Linda Reid of North Wilkesboro; one son, Charles (Jackie) Shore of Winston-Salem; one sister, Ruby (Russ) Spikula of Winston-Salem; four grandchildren, Anthony Reid, Rev. William R. Wilson, Mary Ann Hutchins, and Bobbie Joe Shore; and one great-grandchild, Marshall Hutchins. Funeral services will be held 11:00 a.m. Saturday at Asbury United Methodist Church. She will lie instate 30 minutes prior to the service. The Rev. Daniel Outen and Rev. William R. Wilson will officiate. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Gentry Family Funeral Service on Little Mountain Road in Jonesville is serving the family. Flowers will be accepted or memorials may be made to Asbury United Methodist Church, Asbury Church Road, Hamptonville, N.C. 27020.

SIMMONS
STUART, Va. -- Mr. Wilbur Robert ''Hub'' Simmons, 79, of Clark House Farm Road, Stuart, Va. and formerly of Greensboro, N.C., died Friday morning, October 8, 1999 at The Landmark Center in Stuart, Va. He was born in Stokes County, North Carolina on May 1, 1920 to the late Robert ''Bob'' Simmons and the late Etta Booth Simmons. He was a member of Minnie's Chapel Wesleyan Church, a retired truck driver, and served in the U.S. Army during World War II. In addition to his parents, Mr. Simmons was preceded in death by three brothers, Gilmer, Raymond, and Roy Simmons and a half-brother, Edward Simmons. Mr. Simmons is survived by his wife, Ruth Collins Simmons of the home; a daughter and son-in-law, Pat and Barry Dillard of Charlotte; two sons and daughters-in-law, Mike and Dale Simmons of Winston-Salem and Mitch and Ivy Simmons of Greensboro; nine grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; a brother, Cecil Simmons of Stuart; and a sister, Betty Martin of Stuart. Funeral services for Mr. Simmons will be held Saturday at 8:00 p.m. at Moody Funeral Home Chapel in Stuart, Va. with Rev. Eugene Huff officiating. A graveside service will be held Sunday 3:00 p.m. at Minnies Chapel Wesleyan Church Cemetery with military rites to be conducted by the Patrick County Veterans Memorial Honor Guard. The family will receive friends from 7:00 to 8:00 p.m. Saturday at Moody Funeral Home in Stuart prior to the service. Memorials may be made to the Minnies Chapel Wesleyan Church Building or Cemetery Fund, c/o JoAnn Bishop, 598 Salem Hwy., Stuart, Va. 24171.

SIMPSON
NORTH WILKESBORO -- Mr. John Orion (J.O.) Simpson, Jr., 76, of Grandview Street, North Wilkesboro, died Thursday, October 7, 1999 at his home. Mr. Simpson was born June 9, 1923 in Surry County to John Orion Simpson, Sr. and Mae Coble Simpson Joyce. He was a member of First Presbyterian Church of North Wilkesboro, an airplane pilot, one of the co-founders of the local Civil Air Patrol, and a World War II veteran of the Marines. He was a retired gunsmith. Surviving are two sons, John Mark Simpson of North Wilkesboro and Gregory Scott Simpson of Brentwood, Tennessee. Memorial services will be conducted 6:00 p.m. Saturday (tonight) at Miller Funeral Chapel with the Rev. John T. Vannoy III officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to The United Way of Wilkes, 910 C. Street, North Wilkesboro, N.C. 28659.

WILSON
CAERLEON, WALES -- Peacefully, in Caerleon, Wales, R.L. (Bob) Wilson, 89, passed away on September 30, 1999. Much beloved by his wife, Peggy; his daughter, Margaret and her family, David, Ben, and Stephen (Bo) Blizard, fomerly of Winston-Salem, now residing in State College, Pennsylvania. Memorials may be made to the Alzheimer's Association.

WINTER
Mrs. Juanita (G.G.) Hubbard Winter, 88, of 1010 Trevor Downs Ct., Lewisville, N.C., died Thursday, October 7, 1999 at Meadowbrook Manor. She was born January 17, 1911 in Spokane, Wash. She was a member of Jefferson Church of Christ and the King Garden Club. She retired from R.E.I. Equipment Co. Surviving are two daughters, Jill Powell and Ron of Lewisville and Joanne Wellentin and husband, Pat of Fairfield, Calif.; a son, Jerry Winter and wife, Carolyn of Moses Lake, Wash.; eleven grandchildren, Shannon Daniels, Loyanne Parker, Merida Tronset, Russell Daniels, Ashley Hashagen, Melanie Militano, Erin Hankins, Ellen Armour, Scott Powell, Renee Minor, and Mitchell Powell; and twenty-one great-grandchildren. A memorial service will be held Sunday at 2:00 p.m. at Jefferson Church do Christ by Rev. Jerry Simpkins. The family will receive friends after the service at the church. The family request no flowers and that memorials be made to Jefferson Church of Christ. Vogler and Sons Clemmons Chapel is serving the Winter family.

VEST
CLEMMONS -- Mrs. Ophelia F. Vest, 81, died Friday, January 7, 2000 at Forsyth Medical Center. She was born July 22, 1918 in Alleghany Co. to Lundy George Fender and Maggie Adams Fender. Mrs. Vest was a member of First Assembly of God in Winston-Salem. She retired from P.H. Hanes Knitting after 40 years of service. Surviving are her daughter, Mrs. Nancy Green and husband, Jack, of Winston-Salem; four sons, Eugene C. Vest, of Mocksville, W.C. Vest ''Pap'' and wife, Linda, of Winston-Salem, Richard D. Vest and wife, Brona, of Mocksville, and David L. Vest and wife, Ann, of Yadkinville; five sisters, Clyde Edwards and husband Clive, of Ennice, N.C., Cora Lee Cobbler and husband, Ralph, of Kernersville, Evelyn Gilliam and husband, Flake, of Jonesville, Grace Fender, of Sparta, and Betty Burchum and husband, Otis, of Fries, Va.; three brothers, Elmer Fender, of Sparta, Jess Fender and wife, Edna, of Joppa, Md., and Lewis Fender and wife, Marie, of Fries, Va.; 12 grandchildren; four great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. At Mrs. Vest's request, there is no stated visitation. Graveside services will be 3:00 p.m. Sunday, January 9, 2000 at Westlawn Gardens of Memory, Clemmons. Rev. Selby F. McManus will officiate. Hayworth-Miller Silas Creek Chapel is handling arrangements, and the family requests memorials be made to First Assembly of God, 3730 University Pkwy., Winston-Salem, N.C. 27106.

WALL
Mrs. Helen Flynt Wall, 91, of 1114 Standish Court, passed away Thursday, January 6, 2000 at Forsyth Medical Center. She was born December 13, 1908 in Rural hall to Dr. Solomon Spainhour and Sarah (Sallie) Stauber Flynt. Mrs. Wall was the wife of the late Sandy Kiser Wall, owner/operator of Wall Funeral Home. She graduated from Rural Hall High School, attended Salem College, and was a secretary for Chatham Manufacturing. She was a member of First Christian Church and a charter member of Rural Hall Moravian Church. Mrs. Wall is survived by two sons, S. Kent Wall and wife, Susan, of Nashville, Tenn. and Dudley F. Wall and wife, Donna, of Winston-Salem; five grandchildren, Mary McDonald, of Tampa, Fla, Stacy and Lee Wall, of New York, N.Y., Sandy Wall, of Waynesville, N.C., and Sally Wall-Hampeys, of Knightdale, N.C.; three great grandchildren, Emily and Jack McDonald, and Garrett Hampeys; one step grandson, Chad Goldman, of Los Angeles, Calif.; one sister, Martha and husband, John R. Helsabeck, of Rural Hall; one brother, Stauber Flynt, of Elkin; and several nieces and nephews. A graveside service will be at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, January 10, 2000 at Forsyth Memorial Park, conducted by Dr. Willie Davis, Rev. James P. Cobb, and Rev. James Newsome, Jr. The family will receive friends from 7:00 to 8:30 p.m. Sunday, January 9, 2000 at Vogler & Sons Reynolda Road Funeral Home. WIGLEY
Mrs. Dorothy Moore Wigley, 71, of Winston-Salem, died Friday, January 7, 2000 at Kate B. Reynolds Hospice Home. She was born October 15, 1928 to Williford D. and Ruby Butterworth Moore. Mrs. Wigley was a member of Mt. Carmel United Methodist Church, and retired from NationsBank in 1994, after 35 years of service. She was preceded in death by her husband, Raymon Edward Wigley, in 1993. Surviving is one daughter, Nita Kimbrell and husband, Lee, of Clemmons; three granddaughters, Lori and Kelly Albert, and Crystal Kimbrell; one great grandson, Cody Albert; and one sister, Sara Moore, of Canton, Ga. A funeral service will be Monday, January 10, 2000 at 2:00 p.m. at Hayworth-Miller Silas Creek Chapel, with Rev. Ken Eller officiating. Following the service, Mrs. Wigley will be sent to Canton, Ga., where an additional service will be conducted Wednesday, January 12, 2000 at 2:00 p.m. at Shoal Creek Baptist Church. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends Sunday from 7-9 p.m. at Hayworth-Miller Silas Creek Chapel, and on Tuesday from 7 p.m. until 9 p.m. at Huey Funeral Home in Canton, Ga. Memorials may be made to Kate B. Reynolds Hospice Home, 101 Hospice Lane, Winston-Salem, N.C. 27103.

SPEAKS
PINNACLE -- Mrs. Edith Dull Speaks, 79, of 1416 Perch Road, died October 9, 1999 at the home of her daughter, following several years of declining health. She was born January 8, 1920 to the late Julius R. Dull and Lena Thomas Dull. She was preceded in death by her husband, Uland Speaks; and a brother, J.R. Dull. She lived most of her life in Winston-Salem, and was employed by the Anchor Dept. Store for 23 years. Surviving are a daughter and son-in-law, Linda (Sam) McGee of Pinnacle; one granddaughter, Sandra McGee Hege; two great-grandchildren; Samantha and Michael Hege, Jr. of Pinnacle; three sisters, Mrs. Hazel (Grady) Long of Pfafftown, Mrs. Clara Oates of Yadkinville, and Mrs. Doris (Ray) Hire of Clemmons; two brothers, Mr. Thomas Dull of Hillsville, Va. and Mr. George (Lois) Dull of Florida; and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, October 12, 1999 at Voglers, Reynolda Road Chapel. Burial will be in East Bend Friends Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. Monday at Voglers, Reynolda Road Chapel, and at other times at the home of her daughter at 1416 Perch Rd., Pinnacle, N.C. Flowers will be accepted or donations may be made to Hospice of Stokes County.
