YADKINVILLE -- On Dec. 30, 2000, our family lost a devoted and loving husband, father, paw paw, son, brother and friend, Robert ''Johnny'' H. Gough Jr. He was friends with and loved by so many people, and he will be missed. Robert worked at Microfibers in Winston-Salem for 13 years after the closing of AT&T. He was born Nov. 8, 1950, to Exie Plowman Gough and Robert Gough. He left behind a loving and devoted wife, Linda Hutchens Gough of the home; a son, Robbie (Sandy) Gough and a grandson, Nathan Gough, all of Yadkinville; a daughter, Gretta Gough (Marvin) Adams of Yakdinville; his mother, Exie Plowman Gough, and a loyal friend, Don Baity of Winston-Salem; two sisters, Kathleen (Vernon) Dixon and Jeanette (Doug) Holt, all of Yadkinville; and many nieces and nephews. Mr. Gough was preceded in death by his father, Robert ''Rob'' Gough. His funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Gentry Family Chapel by the Rev. Timothy Jones. Burial will follow in the Turner's Creek Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. Monday, Jan. 1, 2001, at Gentry Family Funeral Service on Highway 601 North of Yadkinville. HOLOMAN
Mr. William Dunning Holoman Jr. of 3120 Bonhurst Drive died Saturday, Dec. 30, 2000, at the McGuire VA Medical Center in Richmond, Va. He was born in Lynchburg, Va. Nov. 22, 1932, to the late William and Rebecca Williams Holoman. Mr. Holoman was a retired administrator at Wake Forest University and was a member of St. Leo's Catholic Church. Surviving are his two sons, William C. Holoman of Salt Lake City, Utah and John T. Holoman of Winston-Salem. Funeral services will be held 10 a.m. Wednesday, Jan. 3, 2001, at St. Leo's Catholic Church. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m Tuesday, Jan. 2 at Mr. Holoman's residence, 3120 Bonhurst Drive. Arrangements by Vogler and Son's South Main Street Chapel.
HUCKS
LEWISVILLE -- Mrs. Jo Ann Dye Hucks, 61, of 5800 Kinney Road Lot 36 died Thursday, Dec. 28, 2000, at her home. Mrs. Hucks was born in Guilford County a daughter of the late Clyde and Mozelle Tilley Dye and was a homemaker. Surviving are two daughters, Tammie Burleson and Tina Hall of Thomasville; two sons, Dale Byerly of Virginia and Gary Byerly of Winston-Salem; three sisters, Peggy Marshall of Stokesdale, Durene ''Dee'' Cave of Clemmons and Joetta ''Jo'' Dye of Winston-Salem; two brothers, John ''J.C.'' Dye of Summerfield and Clyde ''C.L.'' Dye Asheville; and 12 grandchildren. A graveside service will be conducted 2 p.m. Wednesday at the Westminister Gardens in Greensboro by the Rev. Michael Duffield. The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday at the Hayworth-Miller-Cain Funeral Home in Kernersville and other times at the home of her sister, Peggy Marshall, 8405 Stokesdale St., Stokesdale.
JESSUP
Mrs. Ola Mae Priddy Jessup, 83, of 5127 Ramillie Run, Winston-Salem died Saturday, Dec. 30, 2000, at the Kate B. Reynolds Hospice Home in Winston-Salem with her family around her. She was born on March 31, 1917, in Stokes County the daughter of the late Elder Watt Priddy and Linda Koger Priddy. She was preceded in death by her parents and a very special niece, Patricia Priddy Smith. On Dec. 26, 1936, she married Ralph A. Jessup, who survives her. Always a very loving and devoted wife and mother, she also leaves behind her two daughters and a son-in-law, Nancy and Doug Silvis of Thomasville, Ga. and Susan Carol Jessup of Winston-Salem. Also left behind are two brothers and their wives, Russell and Earline Priddy and Curtis and Polly Priddy all of Danbury. She leaves three grandchildren, Timothy and his wife, Katherine Silvis of Athens, Ga., Kimberly Silvis of Athens, Ga. and Todd Silvis of Thomasville, Ga., as well as nieces, nephews and their children and many loving friends. While living she retired from Pannells Knitting Co. in Martinsville, Va. to raise her two daughters and later retired from Orisle Elementary School in Ft. Lauderdale, Fla., where she was a teacher's aide. She was also a member of the First Baptist Church in Ft. Lauderdale and had stayed in touch over the years with friends in the cancer support group there. Throughout her life her joy was caring for her family. She enjoyed doing many things together with her daughter, Susan, who always lived at home with her parents. The funeral service will be held 2 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 2, 2001, at Peters Creek Baptist Church on Highway 8 above Danbury near the Virginia line. Mrs. Jessup will lie in state 30 minutes before the service. Elder James Wilkins, Elder Rodney Marshall and Dr. Jim Nelson will officiate. Graveside services will follow at Peters Creek Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends after the service in the fellowship hall. Pallbearers will be relatives and friends. Mrs. Mildred Campbell Johnson, 87, of Advance died Saturday, Dec. 30, 2000, at Forsyth Medical Center. She was born April 13, 1913, in Chesterfield, S.C., to John T. and Mary Gaddy Campbell. She was retired from Western Electric Co. and was a member of Green Meadows Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph Walter Johnson Jr., and two sons. Surviving are a daughter, Julie J. Bechtel of Indianapolis, Ind.; six grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be at noon Tuesday at Vogler and Sons Clemmons Chapel by the Rev. Ray Davis. Burial will follow in Westlawn Gardens of Memory. The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. Monday at Voglers.

Mrs. Mary Marsh McGee Kerrigan, 74, of Winston-Salem passed away Sunday, Dec. 31, 2000, at the Kate B. Reynolds Hospice Home. Mrs. Kerrigan was born in Forsyth County to Floyd Hampton and Nora White Marsh Nov. 12, 1926. She was a member of Saint Johns Lutheran Church for the past 50 years. She also was owner and operator of Sir Winston Restaurant of Winston-Salem. Mrs. Kerrigan was preceded in death by her loving husband, Joseph Kerrigan; a sister, Dorothy Marsh; and a brother, Arvil Marsh. Surviving are a daughter, Mrs. Patricia Carlton and husband Roger of Kernersville; a son, Mr. Larry E. McGee and wife Vickie of Advance; grandchildren Cheryle and Keith Carlton, Michael McGee and Michelle Barnette; great-grandchildren Maegan, Mitchell McGee and Broc Barnette; sisters Mrs. Frances Hicks of Mocksville and Mrs. Peggy Whisenant of Advance; and several nieces and nephews. A funeral service will be conducted 2 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 2, 2001, at Saint Johns Lutheran Church with Pastor Philip C. McLain and Pator Kevin Armbrust officiating. KERNERSVILLE -- Mr. George Aloysius Lorenz, 68, of 361 Brentwood Road, Winston-Salem died Friday, Dec. 29, 2000, at the Forsyth Medical Center. Mr. Lorenz was born in Thrnau , Germany and was employed by Johnson Controls Inc. He was a World War II Army veteran. Surviving are his wife, Anne Kilgalon Lorenz of the home; a daughter, Carol ann Lorenz Vecsey of Madison, N.Y.; three sons, George Lorenz III and Mark Lorenz of Kernersville and Vincent Lorenz of Brewster, N.Y.; a sister, Theresa Vaccariello of Thornwood, N.Y.; a brother, Joseph Lorenz of Hamilton, Ohio; and six grandchildren. A memorial Mass will be conducted 6 p.m. Tuesday at the Holy Cross Catholic Church by the Rev. Joseph E. Tufkin.
MELTON
ADVANCE -- Mr. Troy Wesley ''Chalk'' Melton, 73, of Baltimore Road died late Friday night at Forsyth Medical Center after a short illness. Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Monday at Eaton Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Alton Beal officiating. Burial will be in the Bixby Church of the Living God Cemetery. The family requests that memorials be considered for the American Cancer Society, 1000 S. Hawthorne Road, Winston-Salem, NC 27103. Mr. Melton was born in Davie County, June 6, 1927, to the late Richard and Eunice Sears Melton and was retired from Heritage Furniture Co. He was a member of Bixby Presbyterian Church. Mr. Melton was a member of the Mocksville Moose Lodge, a member of the Samuel C. Hart American Legion Post 29, Salisbury and was an avid NASCAR fan. He was considered the best Texas wedge player in Davie County and surrounding areas. He was preceded in death by his wife, Edith Beal Melton in 1996. Surviving is his daughter, Mrs. Paul (Gale) Barney of Advance; two sons and daughters-in-law, Maxie and Vickie Melton and Tony and Libby Melton, all of Advance; three grandsons, Wesley Melton, Travis Melton and Daniel Melton; four sisters, Kate Barney of Clemmons, Nancy Wright of Myrtle Beach, S.C., Louise West of Advance and Maude Harris of Mocksville; two brothers, Richard Melton Jr. of Winston-Salem and Harold Melton of Advance; and a special companion, Zelma Stanley of Advance. The family will be at the funeral home from 7 to 9 p.m. Sunday and at other times at the home of his sister, Mrs. Louise West on Baltimore Road, Advance.
REAVIS
HAMPTONVILLE -- Mr. Willard W. Reavis, 81, retired Hamptonville postmaster died Sunday, Dec. 31, 2000, at his home. He was born April 20, 1919, in Lynn, Ind. to the late Melver W. and Esta Cook Reavis. Moving to Davie County at an early age. Mr. Reavis was a World War II Navy veteran. He worked for the former Chatham Manufacturing Co. and served with the V.A. Hospital and retired as the Hamptonville postmaster with 21 years of service. He was a member of West Yadkin Baptist Church. Surviving are his wife of 61 years, Ruby King Reavis of the home; his children, Earlene (Boyd) Goin of Hamptonville, Judy (Wayne) Podulka of Plano, Texas and Brenda (Dale) Money of Elkin; his grandchildren, Candice Brown, Jennifer Podulka, Amanda Podulka, Misty Ball, Michael Podulka and Ricky Money; and his great-grandsons, Vance and Juston Brown. Also surviving are his brothers and four sisters, Olive Culler of Mocksville, Clydean Shore of Yadkinville, Melva Culler of Mocksville, Patrick (Beatrice) Reavis of Mocksville, Marie (J.C.) Windsor of Winston-Salem and Thomas (Jean) Reavis of Hamptonville. He was preceded in death by a grandson, Mark Brown and a sister, Mildred Sherrill. His funeral service will be held 3:30 p.m. Tuesday at the Gentry Family Chapel by the Rev. Grady Trivette and the Rev. Dennis Bell. He will lie in state 30 minutes prior to the service. Burial will follow in the West Yadkin Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. Monday at Gentry Family Funeral Service on Highway 601 N., Yadkinville. BOCA RATON, Fla. -- Mrs. Blossom Hirsch Shaw died Sunday, Dec. 31, 2000. She was born July 27, 1921, in Chicago, Ill. to Ervin and Jean Blumberg Hirsch. Mrs. Shaw was a member of Temple Bethel in Boca Raton, Fla. Surviving are a daughter, Bonnie Shaw of New York City, N.Y.; four sons, Roger Shaw and wife Ellen of Hillsborough, N.J., Jerry Shaw and wife Susan of Boca Raton, Marc Shaw and wife Francine of New York City, N.Y. and Ed Shaw and wife Rebecca of Winston-Salem; nine grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. A memorial service will be 10 a.m. Jan. 7, 2001, at Temple Bethel in Boca Raton, Fla. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorials be made to the Hospice and Palliative CareCenter, 1100-C S.
