Mrs. Pearl Rose Parrish Day of Winston-Salem died Monday, Oct. 30, 2000, at Forsyth Medical Center. She was born Jan. 19, 1931, in Forsyth County to Walter and Myrtle Rose. She was a member of Cedardale Baptist Church. Mrs. Day was preceded in death by her husband, Mr. Russell G. Day and a daughter, Tammy Renee Parrish Gibson. Survivors include a son, Ricky Parrish and wife Doris of Welcome; two daughters, Vikki Tuttle and husband Roger of Lewisville and Pamela Sykes and husband Tommy of Franklinville; two granddaughters, Rebekah Williams and Melissa Parrish; seven grandsons, Ritchie Parrish, Jamie Williams and wife Stefani, Ryan Gibson and wife, Tanya, Chris Sykes, Chad Gibson, Jamie Tuttle and Scottie Parrish; a brother; four sisters and a special friend, Jim Shell. Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday, Nov. 2, 2000, at Hayworth-Miller Silas Creek Chapel. Burial will follow at Woodland Cemetery. Mr. David Lee Gammons, 76, of Ararat, Va. died Tuesday, Oct. 31, 2000, at the VA Hospital in Salem, Va. Mr. Gammons was born Oct. 31, 1924, in Patrick County, Va. to the late Jess and Susie Goins Gammons. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II and retired from Pike Electric. Mr. Gammons is survived by a sister and a brother-in-law, Ruby and Paul Layman of Stuart, Va. and five brothers and sisters-in-law, Frank Gammons of Claudville, Va., Blaine and wife, Louise Gammons of Sandy Level, Va., William and wife, Carrie Gammons of Clemmons, Herbert Gammons of Claudville, Va. and Winfield and wife, Elaine Gammons of Stuart, Va. Funeral services for Mr. Gammons will be conducted at 2 p.m. Thursday at Hills Grove Baptist Church with the Rev. Barry Clements and the Rev. David Heath officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. Military rites will be conducted by the Patrick County Veterans Memorial Honor Guard. The family will receive friends from 7 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Moody Funeral Home in Stuart, Va. and at other times at the home of Frank Gammons.

BOYNTON BEACH, FLA. -- Mr. Rondall K. (Ron) Gardner, 36, of Boynton Beach, Fla. died Thursday, Oct. 26, 2000, at Del Ray Beach Medical Center. He is survived by his wife, Andrea Gardner and their three beautiful children, Austin, Amanda and Avery, all of the home; his parents, Eugene and Nancy Gardner of Walnut Cove; a brother and sister-in-law, Rodney and Tanya of Germanton and a nephew, Braden Gardner of Germanton. Funeral and memorial services were held at Berean Baptist Church in West Palm Beach, Fla. where he was a science teacher. He was ordained as a minister Sept. 13, 2000, and had started a church in Boynton Beach, Fla. The family requests your prayers. JONESVILLE -- Mrs. Edith Evans Holcomb, 86, of Vestal Road passed away Monday, Oct. 30, 2000, at Forsyth Medical Center after a very short illness. She was born Sept. 6, 1914, in Yadkin County to the late William R. ''Bill'' and Laura Ann Brown Evans. Mrs. Holcomb was a homemaker and a member of Shady Grove Baptist Church in Boonville. She was preceded in death by her husband, Ernest Holcomb; two sisters, Loy Miller and Iris Baity; and four brothers, Everette Evans, Thad Evans, Pholton Evans and Paris Evans. Surviving are her son, Tommy Rash and wife Kathy of Boonville; Granddaughter Wendy Renee Rash of Chapel Hill and several nieces and nephews. Her funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday at Shady Grove Baptist Church, by the Rev. Bill Byrd and the Rev. Charles Jones. She will lie in state 30 minutes prior to the service. Mr. Demetrios E. Karagiorgis, 69, a resident of Potomac Falls, Va., died Sunday, Oct. 29, 2000, at the V.A. Medical Center in Baltimore, Md. Mr. Karagiorgis is survived by his wife, Mercina Karagiorgis; three sons, Evangelos Karagiorgis of Potomac Falls, Va., Vasilios Karagiorgis of Pasadena, Md. and Alexandros Karagiorgis of Cockeysville, Md.; a brother, Stavros Karagiorgis of Winston-Salem; a sister, Marguerita Rhodes of Greece and two grandchildren, Christina and Josh Karagiorgis. Friends may call at the Loudoun Funeral Chapel, 158 Catoctin Circle S.E. in Leesburg, Va., Thursday, Nov. 2, from 4 to 7 p.m., with prayers at 7 p.m. Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Friday at Saint Theodores Greek Orthodox Church, 7101 Cyprian Lane, Greenbelt, Md., with Father Nicholas Voucanos officiating. KIRKMAN
Mr. Albert Reece Kirkman, 85, of Lewisville died Monday, Oct. 30, 2000, at Claire Bridge of Winston-Salem. He was born Sept. 26, 1915, in Liberty to Grady R. and Ila Reece Kirkman. Mr. Kirkman was a member of Lewisville United Methodist Church, where he had served as treasurer and Sunday school teacher. He was a member of Enterprise Masonic Lodge No. 752 and was a 32nd degree mason. He had been a member of the Winston-Salem Jaycees and the Lewisville Civic Club, where he was instrumental in obtaining Lewisville's first fire truck. He has also served on the Lewisville School Board and was president of the P.T.A. Mr. Kirkman loved the out of doors and was an avid golfer. He was a charter member of Tanglewood Golf Course and after he was unable to play golf was a ranger at the golf course. For 12 years he was office manager for American Oil Co. He retired from L.A. Reynolds Paving Co. after 30 years of service. Survivors include his wife of 64 years, Celeste Brewer Kirkman of the home; two sons, Reece Kirkman and wife Becky of Advance and Steve Kirkman and wife, Anne of Lewisville; two daughters, Betsy Cooksey and husband, Dick of Spartanburg, S.C., and Beverly Davis and husband, Dean of Lewisville; five grandchildren, Mark Kirkman and wife Renee of Advance, Kent Kirkman and wife Lisa of Clemmons, Eric Kirkman of Lewisville, Ashley Kirkman of Lewisville and Jason Davis of Wilmington; three great-grandchildren, Madison Kirkman, Avery Kirkman and Celeste Kirkman; a brother, Henry M. Kirkman and wife, Billie of Winston-Salem; a sister, Eleanor Livengood of Davidson County; and a number of nieces and nephews. A graveside service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Thursday at Forsyth Memorial Park, by the Rev. Donald W. Routh. ROSWELL, Ga. -- Robert Glenn Lent, 54, originally from Lavonia, Mich. passed away Monday, Oct. 30, 2000, at Hospice of Atlanta. Mr. Lent was born April 16, 1946 in Wayne County, Mich. to Glenn J. and Marion Morris Lent. He was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force from 1967 to 1972 and did a tour in Vietnam. Mr. Lent was the regional sales director for Tekelec Corp. in Calabasas, Calif. Surviving are his wife of 27 years, Victoria Pearson Lent of the home, she is employed with Nortel Networks in Alphareta, Ga.; his parents, Glenn J. and Marion Morris Lent of Brighton, Mich.; two sisters, Sandra Lent Morton of Cape Coral, Fla. and Marcia Lent Ruggiero of Plymouth, Mich.; a brother, David Scott Lent of Plymouth, Mich.; a brother-in-law, Everette L. Pearson of Morehead City; two sisters-in-law, Patricia Pearson Nance of Mount Pleasant, S.C. and Martha Jean Pearson Martin of Ronda. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday at Fall Creek Baptist Church by the Rev. Don Hudson. He will lie in state 30 minutes before the service. Mrs. Mary Clay Lewis, 78, of 501 Walter Court died Monday, Oct. 30, 2000, at her home. She was born Dec. 1, 1921, in Carteret County to Thomas W. Hancock Jr. and Allie Boomer Hancock. Mrs. Lewis was a member of Highland Presbyterian Church and was a lifelong member of the Woman's Club of Winston-Salem, of which she was active in the Thursday Morning Music Club, the Art and American Homes Club and the Book Club. She attended R.J. Reynolds High School and graduated from Carteret County High School. She worked for Old Salem for more than 20 years. She was preceded in death by her husband, William E. Lewis Jr. Survivors include a daughter, Anita L. Cox of Winston-Salem; a brother, Boomer Hancock and wife Shirley of Naperville, Ill.; a sister, McCoy Roy and husband Robert of Lake Monticello, Va.; a brother-in-law, Ruggles Baker Sr. of Winston-Salem; and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be conducted 1:30 p.m. Thursday at Highland Presbyterian Church by the Rev. Maggi Henderson. Mrs. Jean Davis Lyons, 66, of Clemmons died Tuesday, Oct. 31, 2000, at the Kate B. Reynolds Hospice Home. She was born June 8, 1934 in Forsyth County to the late Harry S. Davis Sr. and Edna Brandon Davis. Mrs. Lyons was a life member of Calvary Moravian Church where she had taught Sunday school and had been a member of the choir. She was the owner of Orthopedic Services. Mrs. Lyons was preceded in death by a brother, Gary Bing Davis. She is survived by her husband, Robert Daniel Lyons of the home; two daughters, Kim Robertson of Clemmons and Amy Crutchfield and husband, Jay of Charlotte; two sons, Gary Lyons and wife, Reba of Clemmons and Greg Lyons of Clemmons; four grandchildren, Katie and Amanda Robertson and Patrik and Nicholas Lyons; a brother, Harry Davis Jr and wife, Faye of Clemmons and a number of nieces and nephews. PINNACLE -- Mrs. Vinia Reinhardt Marsh, 83, of 1874 Tillotson Road, Pinnacle passed away Tuesday, Oct. 31, 2000, at J.R. Jones Medical Center in King. Mrs. Marsh was born March 17, 1917 in Yadkin County to Blume and Rachel Groce Reinhardt. She was a homemaker and a member of Friendly Chapel Church. She is survived by three daughters, Sylvia Sawyers of Pinnacle, Phyllis Hooks of Yadkinville and Judy Williams of Pinnacle; seven grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. Mrs Marsh was preceded in death by her husband, Vernon H. Marsh, a daughter, Carol Vestal, three sisters, Ila Reavis, Allie Morris and Alma McKnight and a brother, Claude Reinhardt. Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 2, 2000, at Friendly Chapel Church by Brother Don Collins and the Rev. Zeno Groce and Brother Jerry Pardue. Burial will follow at Friendly Chapel Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends at Friendly Chapel Church from 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 1, 2000.
