McBRIDE
Mr. Paul Kiger McBride, 70, of Sebring, Fla., and Jefferson died Saturday, Oct. 28, 2000, in Sebring, Fla. He was born in Forsyth County Dec. 9, 1929, to William Walter and Nancy Jane Money McBride. He was of the Moravian faith. He served in the U.S. Army and was stationed in Germany. A member of West Bend Masonic Lodge 434, he was a master mason in 1967. Mr. McBride retired from R.J. Reynolds Tobacco Co. in 1984 with 37 1/2 years of service. He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, W.D. ''Mickey'' McBride. On March 15, 1951, he was married to Peggy Jane Binkley McBride who survives of the home. He is also survived by a daughter, Paula Dickinson of Snellville, Ga.; a son, Keith H. McBride of Winston-Salem; three grandchildren, Drew, Hannah, Logan Dickinson; four sisters, Betty Groce of Huntsville, Nancy Warner of Winston-Salem, Karlene Cope of Mocksville, Francis Harris of Elkin, and a brother, Thomas Homer McBride of Pfafftown. A graveside service with masonic rites will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday at Westlawn Gardens of Memory. The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday at Vogler & Sons Reynolda Chapel.
MYERS
Mrs. Posie Wilkes Myers, 86, passed away peacefully Monday, Oct. 30, 2000, at Forsyth Medical Center. Born Sept. 7, 1914, to the late Henry Lee and Ruth Lemmons Wilkes, Mrs. Myers was married March 27, 1932, to Clyde William Myers, who preceded her in death Aug. 8, 1992. Also preceding her in death was a son, Clyde Lee, on Nov. 30, 1943, a great-grandson, Stephon James Lassett, two sisters, Hazel West and Ann Carlson and three brothers, Henry Wilkes Jr., Pete Wilkes and Tom Wilkes. Surviving are three daughters, Louise Allen, Brenda Kelly and Jean Myers; a son, Steve Myers and daughter-in-law, Linda Myers; nine grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and a brother, Norman Wilkes. Mrs. Myers and her husband founded C.W. Myers Trading Post Inc. which is still family operated. She was a past president of the Forsyth Saddle Club and a very active member of College Park Baptist Church as long as her health permitted. She dearly loved showing American saddlebred horses and in September 1992 she was inducted into the Carolina's Hall of Fame, UPHA Chapter 12. The family would like to express special thanks to Posie's loving caretakers: Virginia Shore, Betty Swaim, Juanita Bennett, Anne McGee and Carol Griffin. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 2, 2000, at Vogler & Sons Funeral Home on Reynolda Road. Interment will follow in Forsyth Memorial Park. ROGERS
Mr. Hugh Barnes Rogers, 82, of Winston-Salem died Saturday, Oct. 28, 2000. He was born to the late Francis Felix Rogers and Margaret Louise Barnes Rogers on Oct. 15, 1918, in Somerville, Mass. He moved to Winston-Salem in 1951 to open a southern regional office for Draper Top Co., a woolen company. Later he became a stockbroker, vice president and branch manager for Harris, Upham and Co. He retired from its successor, Smith Barney, in 1988. He was an active member of St. Leo the Great Catholic Church from the building of its grammar school until his death. He taught Sunday school and served as a lector and coordinator of Eucharistic ministers. He was treasurer of the Shepherd Center and served as a volunteer in its programs, including tutoring at Bolton School. He also was chairman of several committees for the United Fund, the Winston-Salem Arts Council and the Chamber of Commerce. He is survived by his wife, Norma Dyson Rogers; six children, Hugh B. Rogers Jr. of Kerens, W.Va., Donna Louise Rogers of Chapel Hill, Sara Williams Rogers of Afton, Va., Alan Dyson Rogers of Montreal, Quebec, Canada, Victoria Rogers of Cincinnati, Ohio, and Bruce Armitage Rogers of St. Louis, Mo.; nine grandchildren, Ian Blackwell Rogers of Greenbelt, Md., Thomas Dyson Rogers of Durham, Gabriel Rogers of Kerens, W.Va., Derek Alan Rogers-Gilliam of Charlottesville, Va., Hannah Wolfe Rogers-Gilliam of Afton, Va., Patrick Dyson Rogers and Virginia Louise Rogers of Montreal, Quebec, Canada, Michael Avery Rogers Bernard and Madeline Clare Rogers Bernard of Cincinnati, Ohio; and a great-grandson, James Raven Rogers-Sites of Greenbelt, Md. Also surviving him are four sisters, Ruth Rogers Lally of Harwichport, Mass., Sarah Rogers Dacey of Bellevue, Neb., Claire Rogers Simpson of Plymouth, Mass. and Patricia Rogers Simpson of West Newton, Mass.; a brother, General F. Michael Rogers of Montecito, Calif.; a son-in-law, Lucian Joseph Bernard of Cincinnati, Ohio and three daughters-in-law, Ruth Blackwell Rogers of Kerens, W.Va., Nicole Flor Bernard of Montreal, Quebec, Canada and Desiree White of St. Louis, Mo. and many nieces and nephews. A memorial funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, Nov. 1, 2000, at St. Leo the Great Catholic Church. A reception will follow with the family after the service. GREENVILLE, S.C. -- Sarah Frederica Faye Biddle Bacon of Greenville, S.C., formerly of Winston-Salem, died November 23, 1999 at Hillcrest Hospital, Simpsonville, S.C. Born in Elizabethton, Tenn, August 29, 1917 she was a daughter of the late Fred Earl Biddle and Leo Angeline Welch Biddle of Whitesburg, Tenn. Surviving are a daughter, Patsy Bacon Wood (Mr. Avery Wood, Jr.), 317 East Faris Road, Greenville, S.C. 29605; three sisters, Margaret B. Pearman and Marian B. Peters both of Knoxville, Tenn., and Josephine B. Farmer of Wendell, N.C.; a sister-in-law, Ruth Bacon Money of Knoxville, Tenn.; and seven nieces and four nephews. She was predeceased by her husband, James Rufus Bacon. A private service will be held in Knoxville, Tenn. HICKORY -- Mr. Thomas C. Bailey, 68, of Hickory, N.C., died Monday, November 28, 1999 at Frye Regional Medical Center. He was born May 24, 1931 in Beverly Hills, Calif. to the late Thomas Bailey and Josephyne Gordin Catlin Bailey. He was an Insurance Agent with United American Insurance of Winston-Salem and a 1st Lt. in the U.S. Army. Surviving are his wife, Camilla J. Maloney Bailey of the home; four daughters, Julie Alexander, Valentina Bailey, Kathleen Bailey, and Marcella Bailey all of California; one brother, Lynn Bailey of Indiana; grandchildren, Nathan and Lauren Alexander of California; his step-children, Jeanne Mcandle of Connecticut, Elizabeth Brown, Scott Tannenbaum, and Peter Tannenbaum all of North Carolina; and six step-grandchildren, Kristin, Andrew, Whitney, Gamble, Colten, and Kylie. A memorial service will be held 6 p.m. Thursday, December 2, 1999 at Bass-Smith Funeral Home, Hickory, N.C. with visitation following the service. Mrs. Eva Cecelia Thacker Berry, 98, died Tuesday, November 30, 1999 at Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center. She was born December 6, 1900 in Waynesboro County, Va. to Kenneth Lewis and Lohr O' Neal Thacker. Mrs. Berry had attended Emmanuel Full Gospel Tabernacle. She is preceded in death by her husband, James William Berry and three grandchildren. Surviving are seven children, Evelyn West of Lexington, Sterling Berry of Lexington, Cecelia Jarrett of the home, Robert Berry of Peidmont, S.C., Shirley Shivar of Morehead City, Roland Berry of Liberty, S.C., and Diane McCall of Liberty, S.C. and numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be 2:00 p.m. Thursday, December 2, 1999 at Hayworth-Miller Silas Creek Chapel by Rev. Charles Bell. Burial will follow in Oaklawn Memorial Gardens. Mr. Julian Sepeda Caro, 22, of Winston-Salem, went to be with our Lord on Sunday, November 28, 1999. He was born March 11, 1977 in Corpus Christi, Texas. Julian had been accepted to Johnson & Wales Culinary School and his goal was to someday own a restaurant. He had a strong love and high regard for his family and fiancee', Kendra Che' Weaver. Julian was a kind, loving, compassionate soul. He was a shining star and a true gentleman. Surviving are his mother, Carmen Caro and step-father, Joe Wallace Campbell of Winston-Salem; two brothers, Omar Caro an Fernando Caro; his fiancee', Kendra Che' Weaver; and numerous family and friends. Funeral services will be 1:00 p.m. Thursday at Calvary Baptist Church with Dr. Mark Corts officiating. Burial will follow in Forsyth Memorial Park. Mr. Curtis D. Carter, 63, of Lexington, died at 4:20 p.m. Monday, November 29, 1999 at the Kate B. Reynolds Hospice Home in Winston-Salem. A funeral service will be at 12:30 p.m. Friday, December 3, 1999 at Davidson Funeral Home-HICKORY TREE CHAPEL. Burial will be at 2:00 p.m. Friday at National Cemetery in Salisbury with Military Graveside Rites by Pope Air Force Base Honor Guard. Mr. Carter was born on June 14, 1936 in Rockingham County to Jack Dillard Carter and Caladonia Hutchins Carter. He was retired from the U.S. Air Force where he served as a Technical Sergeant for 21 years and served two terms in Vietnam. He was a member of the Fred D. Craver VFW Post #10485, the American Legion Post #55, and he was a Mason in Louisiana. He was of the Baptist faith and was preceded in death by a son, Curtis Michael Carter who died in 1976. Surviving are a son, James Aaron Carter of Welcome; daughters, Catherine ''Cathy'' Carter of Kernersville and Cheryl Carter Armstrong of Welcome; and six grandchildren. The family will receive friends from 6:30-8:30 p.m. Thursday at Davidson Funeral Home-HICKORY TREE CHAPEL and other times at the home of his daughter on Vance Road in Kernersville.

Mrs. Ethel Louisa Dull Carter, 95, of Winston-Salem, died Sunday, November 28, 1999 at Springwood Care. She was born June 10, 1904 in Forsyth County to John H. and Frances Beck Dull. Mrs. Carter was a member of South Fork Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her husband, Willie Earl Carter; two sons, Wilburn Elwood Carter and Ershel Adare Carter; and a granddaughter, Lisa Carter. Surviving are three sons, Rev. Cecil E. Carter and wife, Mary of Richlands, N.C., Thurmond Carter and wife, Juanita of Mt. Airy, and Lowell Carter and wife, Betty of Clemmons; one daughter, Mrs. Oneita Cranford and husband, Richard of Clemmons; twelve grandchildren; twenty great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; and two sisters, Mrs. Florence Shephard and Mrs. Mildred Fearrington both of Lewisville. A graveside service will be at 11:00 a.m. Thursday at Shugarttown Baptist Church Cemetery in Yadkinville. CLARK
Mrs. Daisy Mae King Clark, 86, of 5006 Page Rd., passed Sunday, November 28, 1999 at Kate B. Reynolds Hospice Home. Funeral services will be held 2 p.m. Thursday, December 2, 1999 at Mayo Missionary Baptist Church in Ridgeway, Va., with Rev. I.L. Anthony officiating, burial will follow in Christian View Baptist Church Cemetery in Spencer, Va. Born in Henry County, Virginia on January 21, 1913, she was the daughter of the late William Seward and Lillie Stuart King. They later moved to Winston-Salem, where she attended the public schools. On March 3, 1934, she married Wilbert Preston Clark. She worked during World War II at R.J. Reynolds, afterwhich she did domestic work and child care. She retired in 1978, as an assistant cafeteria manager. She worked diligently as dietician/baker and cashier for twenty-three years with the Winston-Salem/Forsyth County Schools, namely Carver High School. She even substituted an additional two years after retiring. During her childhood years, she was a member of Oak Grove Church. She would sing in the choir, as well as with the Prayer Band. Forty-four years ago, she became a member of Christian View Missionary Baptist Church in Spencer, Virginia. She served faithfully over the years as a most gracious and humble ''First Lady'', Sunday School teacher, Church School Advisor, member of song leader of the Adult Choir, President of the Missionary Circle for thirty-nine years, Life Time member of the Smith River Baptist Association, Smith River Ladies Auxiliary, and Ministers Wive's Alliance, until her health failed. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by thirteen brothers and sisters. She leaves behind to celebrate her life, her husband of sixty-five years, Rev. Wilbert Preston Clark; one daughter, Mary Alice Agamah of Dorchester, Mass.; one granddaughter, Valeria ''Lybbie'' (Michael, Sr.) Edwards of Ridgeway, Va.; one great-grandson, Michael (Ulonda) Edwards, Jr.; one great-great-granddaughter, Little MiChaela Cetrice Edwards; one God-son, Eric Ross of Martinsville, Va.; one sister-in-law, Ellen King of Walnut Cove, N.C.; two brothers-in-law, Rev. Emory Lee Clark, Sr. and Frank (Rosetta) Clark both of Winston-Salem; and a host of nieces, nephews, and ''grandfriends''. The family will visit with friends at Bethlehem Baptist Church, 1711 N. Claremont Ave., Winston-Salem, Wednesday evening from 7 to 8 p.m. and 1 to 2 p.m. Thursday afternoon at Mayo Missionary Baptist Church in Ridgeway, Va. prior to the final celebration.
