TRUSLOW
Mr. Kent MacCutcheon Truslow, 72, of Charlotte, N.C. died Thursday, September 30, 1999 at Presbyterian Hospital. The older of two boys born to Fredrick Kent and Mildred MacCutcheon Truslow, Kent grew up with his brother, Stuart, in the New York Bedroom Community of Summit, New Jersey. Though an avid tennis and baseball player through both high school and college, Kent's real affections leaned to the simple, pure, and quiet haven of family summers spent as a boy in Hartwood; a family gathering place his grandfather found many years before in the untouched quiet hills of New York's Catskill Mountains. It was there in Hartwood that he developed his life-long love of the outdoors; exploring, fishing, camping, and thinking. With children and grandchildren in tow, he would return there often, passing his love along. In 1946, Kent was drafted for service in the United States Army Air Force. Two years later, his tour of duty done, he headed for college at Virginia's own Washington & Lee University , where he graduated with a degree in Business. It was there too that he met and fell in love with his wife of 48 years, Maxine Ratcliff. Travel including years in Wilkesboro, Penn., Winston-Salem, Calgary Canada, and Denver ended when, in 1960, the two settled to live their life here in Charlotte. And Charlotte treated them well. For it was in Charlotte, the financial powerhouse of the South, the Mr. Truslow built a strong reputable business selling financial printing for Washburn Graphics. And whether in New York, Charlotte, Raleigh, or Tampa, the sale is what he loved. A long list of clients and co-workers who cover the East Coast remember his integrity well. In all things, a husband and a father. A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Monday, October 4, 1999 at Ressurection Lutheran Chapel with The Reverend Herb Mirley, Pastor and the Reverend Michael Boulware, of Forest Hill Church, officiating.
