KENNEDY
CHARLOTTE -- Infant Makayla Nicole Kennedy, of 7800 Travers Run Dr., Charlotte, died September 15, 1999. A graveside service will be held Saturday, September 18, 1999 at 4 p.m. at Hudson Grove AME Zion Church in Weddington conducted by the Rev. Ed Scarborough. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Surviving are her parents, Kim and Tavel Kennedy of Charlotte and her grandparents, Wesley and Annie Kennedy of Matthews, Bill and Becky Donley of Winston-Salem, and Vester and Ethel Mabe of Winston-Salem. Beasley Funeral Home, Charlotte is serving the Kennedy family.
KIRBY
On Thursday, September 16, 1999, Beatrice's gentle soul left this harsh earth to join the heavenly angels. Oh! What a fellowship it was. ''BEA BEA'', as she was affectionately called, was born to Mrs. Lucille Norment and Rev. Claude Norment on August 13, 1913. Mrs. Kirby was a retired employee of A.T. & T. At one time, she was very active in her community having served on the following boards: the Local Democratic Committee, the P.T.A. Council, and the ''old'' Kate Bitting Reynolds Memorial Hospital. Mrs. Kirby was presently a member of John Wesley AME Zion Church. She had earlier been affiliated with Goler Memorial AME Zion Church where her accomplishments there were endless: she organized the very first Young Adult Choir, the Young Adult Resource Club, and the Church's first Bowling League. Beatrice served faithfully as Director of Christian Education for many years, a Sunday School teacher, and a class leader. The Arthur Jarrett/Nannie Kemp Scholarship Fund was established by Mrs. Kirby. Mrs. Kirby was married to the late Richard L. Kirby. She leaves to mourn their loss three daughters, Mrs. Lucy Allen of Arlington, Texas, Mrs. Doris Williams (Bowman), and Mrs. Sandra Tobias Of Winston-Salem; a son, Richard L. Kirby, Jr. of Washington, D.C.; seven grandchildren, Valencia Sutton, Bowman Williams, Jr., Ricky Williams (Melinda), Beverly Dobson (Manuel), Stephanie Carson, Keeci Tobias, and John Tobias, Jr.; six great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; and a host of relatives and friends. The funeral services will be held at John Wesley AME Zion Church on Sunday, September 19, 1999 at 3:00 p.m. with Rev. James E. Gaskins officiating. Interment will be in the Piedmont Memorial Gardens. The family will fellowship with friends one-half hour (2:30 p.m.) prior to the funeral hour. The funeral Procession will leave from the home of Sandra Tobias of 5535 Old Rural Hall Road. (RUSSELL)

DENTON, N.C. -- Rev. Vernon Adam Morton, 92, of 729 Uwharrie Point, New London, N.C., died Friday, September 17, 1999 at Stanley Memorial Hospital in Albemarle. Funeral arrangements are incomplete at Briggs Funeral Home in Denton.
MONEY
MOCKSVILLE -- Mr. Loyd Lawrence Money, 73, formerly of Winston-Salem, passed away Thursday, September 16, 1999 at Meadowbrook Manor in Mocksville. Mr. Money was born March 17, 1926 in Surry County to the late Eugene and Lillie Lawrence Money. He was self-employed and of the Baptist faith. Mr. Money had served in the U.S. Navy. Preceding him in death in addition to his parents, were his wife, Mrs. Ella Collins Money, February 25, 1994; a daughter, Mrs. Jewell Money Gentry; two brothers, Leo Money and John ''Bill'' Money; and a sister, Mrs. Vermell Colbert. Surviving are a son, Rick Money of Davie County; a grandson, Joshua Money of Davie County; a sister, Mrs. Eugenia M. Allen of Elkin; and two brothers, Otto Money of Elkin and Dillon Money of Boonville. Funeral services will be held 3 p.m. Sunday at Elkin Valley Baptist Church by Rev. Ronnie Craddock. He will lie instate 2:00-3:00 p.m. with burial in the church cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the donor's local Hospice. The family will receive friends from 6:30-8:30 p.m. Saturday at Johnson Funeral Home in Elkin.
MOSER
Mrs. Vern Duncan Moser, 92, formerly of Lewisville, N.C., died Thursday, September 16, 1999 at the North Carolina Baptist Medical Center. Mrs. Moser was born in Wilkesboro, N.C. March 5, 1907 the daughter of William Madison and Roxie Lou Ferguson Duncan. She spent her early life in Wilkesboro, N.C. and was a graduate of Greensboro Womans College. Mrs. Moser was a retired Government employee and a member of Lewisville United Methodist Church. She was preceded in death by a son, Harry Ned Moser; a brother, Morse Duncan; and a sister, Mrs. Nell Baldock. A graveside service will be held at Lewisville United Methodist Church Monday, September 20, 1999 conducted by the Rev. Don Routh and Rev. James Faggert. Surviving are a granddaughter, Amanda Lee Moser of Pfafftown; a daughter-in-law, Mrs. Frances Schweighart of Lewisville; and two sisters, Miss Anne Duncan and Miss Wren Duncan both of Wilkesboro.
RAWLINGS
Mr. Clarence Wilmot Rawlings, Jr., 90, formerly of W. Country Club Rd., Winston-Salem, died Friday morning in Raleigh following a period of declining health. He was born in Winston-Salem on January 3, 1909 to Clarence Wilmot Rawlings, Sr. and Eva Tise Rawlings. He served as an officer with the U.S. Army during World War II, seeing duty in Italy and N. Africa. He retired from R.J. Reynolds Tobacco Company in 1968. Mr. Rawlings was a longtime member of Centenary United Methodist Church. He was preceded in death by his wife, Janet Lowe Rawlings, in 1997. Surviving are his daughter, Mrs. Janet R. McGraw and her husband, Dr. James Robert McGraw of Cary; two grandsons, James Robert McGraw, Jr. of Cary and Midn 2/C Wilson Rawlings McGraw of the United States Naval Academy, Annapolis, Maryland; and two sisters, Mrs. Martha R. Hodgin of Charlotte and Mrs. Nancy R. Baity of Winston-Salem. A memorial service will be held Sunday at 2:00 p.m. at Vogler Reynolda Rd. Chapel, conducted by Rev. Roland Barnhardt. The family will receive friends immediately following the service in the parlor of the funeral home. Mrs. Dolores Langley Shumate, 56, of Winston-Salem, died Wednesday, September 15, 1999 at The University of North Carolina Medical Center. She was born August 22, 1943 in Randolph County to Russell and Dorothy Langley. Mrs. Shumate is survived by her husband, Raymond Bill Shumate of the home; six children, Ricky Shumate and wife, Christy of Mocksville, Johnny Shumate and wife, Sue of Tobaccoville, William Shumate and wife, Amy, Chris Shumate and wife, Sonja, Jason Shumate and wife, Jamie, Ashley Waterloo and husband, Jay all of Winston-Salem; five grandchildren, Adelyn, Crystal, Brittany, Kayla, and Christopher; her mother, Dorothy Langley; one sister, Jean Collins; one brother, Bobby Lackey and wife, Betty; and one special aunt, Romona McAdden. Funeral services will be held Saturday, September 18, 1999 at 2:00 p.m. at the Hayworth-Miller Silas Creek Chapel. Interment will follow in Parklawn Memorial Gardens.

Lorraine Sink Smith, 74, of Shady Grove Church Rd., Winston-Salem, passed away Friday, September 17, 1999 at 8:15 a.m. at the home of the daughter, Bonnie Loflin in Midway. A funeral service will be held Sunday, September 19, 1999 at 2:00 p.m. at Canaan United Methodist Church where she was a member. The Rev. Wade Childress will officiate. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Mrs. Smith was born in High Point, December 7, 1924 to Andrew Devid and Leeta Mae Swaim Sink. She retired from Carolina Underware, Inc. She was preceded in death by her husband, Fobah Sheats Smith, Jr. in December 1998; two brothers, Grayson and Devoe Sink; and a sister, Blanche Hussey. Surviving are two daughters, Bonnie Loflin and her husband, Rod and Barbara Boger and her husband, Gray all of Midway; her grandchildren, Kevin Loflin and wife, Amy of Wilson, Chad Loflin, Kyle and Jill Boger all of Midway; great-grandchildren, Parker and Morgan both of Wilson; and a sister, Catherine Peace of Trinity. The family will receive friends from 6:30-8:30 p.m. tonight (Saturday) at Davidson Funeral Home, Hickory Tree Chapel and other times at Mrs. Smith's home. WEST JEFFERSON -- Mrs. Frankie Montez Raby Taylor, known to all that love her as ''MOM'', 83, of 3003 Watertank Road, West Jefferson, N.C., passed away Wednesday, September 15, 1999 at her home. Mrs. Taylor was born June 9, 1916 in Jackson County, N.C. to the late Walter and Bell Mills Raby. She was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph Watts Taylor; a sister, Mamie Reynolds; two daughters, Janice Sheets and Libby Sue Taylor; two step-sons, Allen Taylor and Albert Taylor; a step-daughter, Ailene Longbottom; and one great-granddaughter, Marticia Sheets. Surviving are two sons, Kenneth J.L. Jones of Winston-Salem and Jerry Parris of King; four daughters, Clara Redden of Asheville, Jean Woodie of Laural Springs, Phyllis Crater of Winston-Salem, and Elaine Hall of Clemmons; a sister, Virginia Christopher of Asheville; one grandson, David Taylor of the home; seventeen grandchildren; and twenty-two great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, September 18, 1999 at 11 a.m. by the Reverend Larry Shepherd at Badgers Funeral Home in West Jefferson. WALKER
N. MIAMI BEACH, FLORIDA -- A memorial service for Hobson Eugene ''Pap'' Walker will be held at Bethleum United Church of Christ September 19, 1999 at 3 p.m. Mr. Walker died August 31, 1999 from a severe head injury received in an accident at his home on July 28, 1999. He was preceded in death by his parents, Hobson H. and Vesta A. Walker and a niece, Kimberly. Surviving are a sister, Dodie Thompson; a brother, Geep Walker; nieces, Nancy, Becky, Pattie, and Sharon; a special friend, Marty; and many relatives and friends. After retirement from Eastern Airlines, Mr. Walker pursued art and became an accomplished artist, always expressing his love of God and family. The service will be conducted by Reverend Jim Owens.
