Gossett, Naomi Johnson
CLEMMONS - Mrs. Naomi Johnson Gossett, 94, of Clemmons Village passed away Saturday, July 10, 2004, at Forsyth Medical Center. She was born Jan. 26, 1910, in Martin County to William and Addie Thomas Johnson. Mrs. Gossett was a member of Unity Baptist Church. She was a homemaker who enjoyed cooking for family and friends. Mrs. Gossett was preceded in death by her husband of 69 years, Allen Gossett Sr. Surviving are seven children, Margaret G. Lindsay and husband, Al, of New Berlin, N.Y., Allen Gossett Jr. and wife, Janice, of Lexington, S.C., Faye Martys and husband, Carl, of Bull Head City, Ariz., Robert W. Gossett of Nisswa, Minn., Ray Gossett and wife, Joyce, of Lewisville, John Gossett and wife, Carol, of Springboro, Ohio and Ronnie Gossett and wife, Ellen, of Winston-Salem; 19 grandchildren; and numerous great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren. A funeral service will be conducted at 12:30 p.m. Tuesday, July 13, at Hayworth-Miller Silas Creek Chapel with the Rev. Nathan E. Parrish officiating. Burial will follow at Parklawn Memorial Park. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home and other times at the home of Ronnie and Ellen Gossett. Memorials may be made to Hospice and Palliative CareCenter, 1100-C S. Stratford Road, Winston-Salem, NC 27103. The family wishes to extend their appreciation to the staffs at Clemmons Village and Forsyth Medical Center Cardiac Unit, 5th Floor.

Johnson, Beverly Jean Moore
Mrs. Beverly Jean Moore Johnson of Winston-Salem passed away Saturday, July 10, 2004, at Forsyth Memorial Hospital. Mrs. Johnson was born July 8, 1928, to David Walter and Mabel Galloway Moore of Elizabethton, Tenn. She attended Friedland Moravian Church. She graduated from Elizabethton High School and received a B.A. from Milligan College, Tenn., as well as an M.A. and Ed.S. in counseling from UNC Greensboro. She worked at the Central Intelligence Agency in Washington, D.C. She retired from the Winston-Salem/Forsyth County school system, where she was a homebound teacher, a counselor at Northwest Elementary and East Forsyth High School and director of guidance at Carver High School. Mrs. Johnson is survived by her husband, Charles Eugene "John" Johnson of the home. Also surviving are her children, Kim Johnson Reed, Jeanna Johnson Smith, John David Johnson of Pensacola, Fla., and Lisa Johnson Mason of Stoneville; two sons-in-law, Phillip Reed and Ralph Mason; as well as grandchildren, Nichole Smith, Casey Reed, Chip Reed, Matthew Whitley, Ashley Whitley, Tucker Johnson, Kimberly Reed, Tina Reed Newsom and Ashton Gilmore. Special love goes to Kimberly Finney. A memorial service will be conducted at 3 p.m. Tuesday, July 13, at Friedland Moravian Church, with the Rev. Wally Yarbrough and the Rev. Carol Foltz presiding. DANBURY - Kaye Martin Lowe, 51, of 2404 Snow Hill Church Road in Danbury died Saturday, July 10, 2004, at Stokes Reynolds Memorial Hospital. She was born July 10, 1953, in Stokes County, the daughter of Coy Lee and Annie Kate Clark Martin. She was a Certified Nurses' Assistant and was employed by Stokes Reynolds Memorial Hospital. She attended Lawsonville Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her mother. Surviving are her father of Danbury; two daughters, Kim (Chris) Holland of Pinnacle and Jessica (Robert) Mabe of Danbury; two grandchildren, Ben Holland and Haley Holland; two sisters, Hazel Craig and Peggy Sisk of Danbury; and six brothers, John Martin and Roger Martin of Danbury, Aaron Martin and Billy Martin of Lawsonville, Thomas Martin of Sandy Ridge and Jimmy Martin of Rocky Mount, Va. A funeral service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Tuesday, July 13, at Lawsonville Baptist Church with the Rev. Donald McHone and Elder Milton Guner officiating. Burial will be in Snow Hill United Methodist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. today, July 12, at the church and other times at the home. Mabe, Joe Dale
Mr. Joe Dale Mabe, 55, died unexpectedly Friday, July 9, 2004, at Rex Health Care Center in Raleigh. Mr. Mabe was born July 10, 1948, in Surry County to the late Joe Edward and Lois Fletcher Mabe of Mount Airy. He was the grandson of the late R. D. and Minnie Fletcher and John and Mary Mabe, also of Mount Airy. Dale was an avid lover of baseball and homeless animals. He was preceded in death by two daughters, Dreama Renee Mabe and Karen Hope Mabe. Mr. Mabe is survived by three sons, Kevin Dale Mabe of King and Kerry Bryce Mabe and Mitchel Pryce Mabe of Lewisville; two grandchildren, Travis Dale McDaniel and Seth Mitchell Lunsford; four sisters, Donna (George) Pascale of Atlanta, Ga., Debbie Woody of Raleigh, Diane (Gerald) Tate of Mount Airy and Darlene (Donnie) Collins of Ararat; along with numerous aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews. A memorial service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Tuesday, July 13, at Oldtown Baptist Church, with the Rev. Keith Fortenberry officiating. The family will receive friends following the service. Mrs. Ruth Hobson Martin, 78, of Winston-Salem passed away Saturday, July 10, 2004, at Kate B. Reynolds Hospice Home. Mrs. Martin was born Nov. 24, 1925, to Harvey and Hester Mickles Hobson in Yadkin County. She was a member of Konnoak Baptist Church and was retired from Thalhimers. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Joseph B. Martin; a sister, Edith Hauser; and two brothers, Willie and Alfred Hobson. Surviving are two daughters, Shannon Miller and husband, Jerry, of Pfafftown and Sylvia Martin of Winston-Salem; two grandsons, Timothy Glen Miller and Bradford Buchanan Miller; a great-granddaughter, Bailey; two brothers, Archie Hobson of Boonville and Harvey J. Hobson Jr. of Kernersville; and six sisters, Pearl Brown and Imogene Groce of Yadkinville, Ruby Atkinson and Helen Atkinson of Winston-Salem and Stacy Smitherman and Carol Powell of East Bend. A funeral service will be conducted at 11 a.m. today, July 12, at Hayworth-Miller Silas Creek Chapel with Dr. Ray Hamilton and Dr. Gary McCullough officiating. Mrs. Helen S. Mickey of Salemtowne died Saturday, July 10, 2004. She was born Feb. 16, 1910, in Allentown, Pa., to Clarence S. and Cora Kuntz Schimmel. She grew up in Bethlehem, Pa. Mrs. Mickey was preceded in death by her husband, Bishop Edward T. Mickey; and a son, David C. Mickey. Surviving are a son, Edward T. Mickey III and wife, Ruth of Ennice; a daughter-in-law, Virginia G. Mickey of Greensboro; four grandchildren, Stephen A. Mickey, Kathryn M. Raybin, Helen M. Feulner and David C. Mickey Jr.; four great-grandchildren; and a sister, Lillian Custer of Bethlehem, Pa. A memorial service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Wednesday, July 14, in the chapel of Home Moravian Church with Dr. Gerald Harris officiating.
