Piccola, Emily
God called his "Littlest Angel" home after dusk Saturday evening. Miss Emily Piccola passed away peacefully Saturday, June 26, 2004, at Forsyth Memorial Hospital in Mommy and Daddy's arms with her family by her side. She was born the same evening to Gregory Ralph Piccola Sr. and Tonya Denise Emily Piccola. Emily, as did her sister, Gabriella, leaves to watch over and keep safe her parents; and all her kind family and friends. She was preceded by and will be laid to rest with her sister, Gabriella. Arrangements have been entrusted to Hayworth-Miller Funeral Home. Services will be conducted by Father Francis Lombardo of Our Lady of Mercy Catholic Church. Pilcher, Eunice Elizabeth
Eunice Elizabeth Pilcher of Winston-Salem passed away Tuesday, June 29, 2004, at the Kate B. Reynolds Hospice Home. Miss Pilcher was born May 29, 1911, in Yadkin County, the youngest of nine children of James Charles and Mary Augusta Steelman Pilcher. Her parents, two brothers and five sisters preceded her in death. A sister survives, Lydia P. Spaugh of Yadkinville. She was "Aunt Eunice" to her friends and especially to a number of loving and caring nieces and nephews and many good Christian friends. She was a member of Calvary Baptist Church since June 1942, except one year when she worked at Cedar Forest Baptist Church in 1957. In 1958 she went back to Calvary Baptist Church and was a faithful worker, sang in the choir 41 years and taught Sunday school for many years. She loved her church. After her schooling, she completed a standard course for first aid to the injured under Red Cross training. Her most caring concern was to help others. She retired from Turner White Casket Co. in 1975, having worked there 18 years and then worked for Davis Department Store until 1985. She loved to sew and did alterations and repair at her home as long as she was able. She loved her yard work, gardening and flowers. The funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, July 2, at Vogler & Sons Reynolda Road Chapel, conducted by the Rev. Will Toburen and the Rev. Mark Loy. Interment will follow at Forsyth Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 6:30 to 8:30 this evening, July 1, at the funeral home. Flowers will be accepted or memorials may be made to a charity of the donor's choice.

Ruth, Berna Jean
God called home his loving daughter, Berna Jean Ruth, 54, of 1208 E. Twelfth St. Apt. B., on Sunday, June 27, 2004, at Wake Forest University Baptist Medical Center. Ms. Ruth was born March 31, 1950, to William D. Ruth Sr. and Mae Etta King Ruth. She attended Forsyth County public schools. She is survived by her two daughters, Michelle Little and Annette Ruth; a special grandson, Bernard Ruth; four sisters, Ms. Carolyn Tuttle, Barbara (Fred) Kluttz, Ms. Paula Bonner and Ms. Marilyn Bonner; a brother, William D. Ruth Jr.; six grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends; and a special friend, John Henry Woods. The funeral service will be conducted at 1 p.m. Friday, July 2, at Gilmore Memorial Chapel. The Rev. Larry Boyd will officiate and burial will follow in Evergreen Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 12:30 to 1 p.m. Friday in the chapel. Arrangements are entrusted to Gilmore Funeral Home Services.
Siceloff, Geneva Walsh
Geneva Walsh Siceloff, a resident of Salemtowne Retirement Community, formerly of Rosewood Avenue, died Monday, June 28, 2004, at Salemtowne. Mrs. Siceloff was born Nov. 8, 1922, in Stokes County, the daughter of James T. and Effie Cornelia Walsh. She retired as a supervisor from Western Electric Co. and joined her husband, M. Roscoe Siceloff, as co-owner of Salem Towne Crafts, makers of electrified Moravian candles. As long as her health permitted, Mrs. Siceloff was an active member of Home Moravian Church and did volunteer work at Salemtowne Moravian Retirement Community and in the Baptist Hospital Cardiology Unit. She was preceded in death by her parents; her first husband, Fred Bennett; her daughter, Carolyn B. Davis; two brothers, Paul Walsh and Clauide C. Walsh; and her second husband, M. Roscoe Siceloff. Mrs. Siceloff is survived by her sister, Opal Sharp; a brother, James T. Walsh Jr.; a brother and sister-in-law, Thurmond and Pat Siceloff, all of Winston-Salem; as well as several nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. today, July 1, at Vogler's Main Street Chapel. A graveside burial service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Friday, July 2, in the Moravian Graveyard. Steele, Quency Rhodes
SANDY RIDGE - Quency Rhodes Steele, 91, of 1121 Steele Road died Tuesday, June 29, 2004, at home. A native of Stokes County, Mrs. Steele was born March 5, 1913, to the late Will Matt and Carrie Knight Rhodes. She was a longtime member of Oak Ridge Baptist Church and was a homemaker. She will be remembered as a caring lady who loved her family. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, William Reid Steele; a son, Bobby Steele; an infant son; six brothers, Robert, Ralph, Jesse, Homer, Roy Willis, and Leonard Rhodes; and three sisters, Claudia Snyder, Lola Grogan and Willie Jacqueline Rhodes. Survivors include a son, Frederick (Brenda) Steele of Madison; a daughter, Pansy (Jack) Tilley of Stoneville; a daughter-in-law, Shelby Nelson Steele of Pine Hall; four brothers, Vester (Leone) Rhodes, William (Mozelle) Rhodes Jr. and Lloyd (Earlene) Rhodes, all of Madison and Dan (Erlean) Rhodes of Mayodan; a sister, Rosia Gann of Mayodan; four grandchildren, Renee (Earl) Richardson, Mimi (James) Tilley, Jonathan (Amy) Steele and Barbara (Stephen) Edwards; seven great-grandchildren; and a special friend, Cathy Shelton. The funeral will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, July 2, at Oak Ridge Baptist Church with the Rev. Randy Roberts and the Rev. Melvin Shelton officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Vannoy, Stelline E.
The life of Stelline E. Vannoy of 4010 Velinda Drive, Winston-Salem began on April 10, 1940, in Bellaire, Ohio, Belmont County. She was born to Ernest Walker Sr. and Edith C. Walker. She went home to be with our Lord on Sunday, June 27, 2004. She received her early education in Bellaire, Ohio, and attended Ohio State University for Early Childhood Development. She was a resident of Winston-Salem. She was a retired custodian for Forsyth County and spent many years as an assistant dietitian with the Northwest Child Development Council. She received God at an early age and was a member of Holy Trinity Full Gospel Baptist Church. She was a devoted foster parent and fostered approximately 100 children. She was a member of the "Out of Sight" support group and especially enjoyed "Fun Night, " bowling and Camp Dogwood. She was preceded in death by her father, Ernest Walker Sr.; her husband, Robert Lee Vannoy; a brother, Ernest Walker Jr.; and three sisters, Emma Glenn, Jackie Mitchell and Willie Mae Jackson. She is survived by her mother, Edith C. Walker of Steubenville, Ohio; two daughters, Andrea (Maurice) Hymes of Winston-Salem and Mary Vannoy; two sons, R. Justin Vannoy and D'Ray Vannoy of the home; a grandchild, Nya Hymes; two brothers, Wade (Roberta) Walker of Ohio and Luther (Mary) Walker of California; three sisters, Ruth Brown, Barbara Young and Paulette (George) Johnson, all of Ohio; and a host of nieces, nephews, great-nieces and other relatives and friends. The funeral service will be held at 3:30 p.m. Friday, July 2, at Holy Trinity Full Gospel Baptist Church, 651 Akron Drive, Winston-Salem, NC 27105, with Pastor Richard C. Miller Sr. officiating. Anderson, Larry Eugene
CLEMMONS - Mr. Larry Eugene Anderson, 67, of Clemmons passed away in his sleep peacefully at home with his family by his side, on Thursday, June 17, 2004. He was born May 12, 1937, to Abram Wayne and Elvie Godbey Anderson. He retired from Duke Power Co. in 1992 after 36 years of service. He was preceded in death by his parents; his stepfather, Raymond S. Nevin; and a half-sister, Sharon Rae Nevin. Words seem to fail when describing Larry and his importance to his family. He was a man who loved life and enjoyed the most out of each and every day. Whether golfing, riding his motorcycles or having a quiet dinner with his family, Larry lived life with a gracious kindness that few people ever know. Most importantly, Larry was a man who loved his family, not only with words, but more importantly, with action. And because of that, we are truly the luckiest people in the world. Surviving are his wife of 38 years, Linda Richardson Anderson; two daughters, Lisa Anderson Davis and husband Robert Gray of Charlotte, Leslie Anderson Newsome and husband Ashley Tye of Winston-Salem; two granddaughters, Kristina and Meredith Davis; a brother, Ronnie N. Anderson and wife Suzanne of Sequim, Wash.; a nephew, Whittaker Anderson of Sequim, Wash.; and stepmother, Laura Elizabeth Anderson of Winston-Salem. Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Sunday at Hayworth-Miller Silas Creek Chapel with Chaplain Fred Moretz officiating. A private burial will follow in Westlawn Gardens of Memory for the family only. KERNERSVILLE - Jimmie Baynes "J.B." Apple Sr. of 1301 Century Park Blvd., Kernersville died Thursday, June 17, 2004, at Kate B. Reynolds Hospice Home in Winston-Salem. He was 83. Mr. Apple was born Jan. 12, 1921, the son of John Bentley and Ila Bartee Apple of the Bethel Church Community. He grew up on a farm and was an employee of Hennis Freight Lines for 28 years. Mr. Apple enjoyed fishing, having breakfast with his buddies and spending time with his family. He was a member of Pine Grove United Methodist Church in Kernersville. Surviving are his wife, Margaret B. Apple of the home; four daughters, Pat (John) Apple-Berry, Margaret (Sid) Pulliam, Jan (Keith Collins) Apple and Melissa Apple, all of Kernersville; three sons, Jim B. (Gloria) Apple Jr. of Columbia, S.C., Tim B. (Jinny) Apple and John A. Shirley Apple, both of Kernersville; 13 grandchildren, Donnie Adams of Florence, Ky., Tracey (Mike) Vaughan of Aeworth, Ga., Patrick (Ruth) Adams, Wil (Wendy) Pulliam, Ben (Melanie) Pulliam, Charlie Apple, Jake Apple and Blake Apple, Patricia Crump and Christine Crump all of Kernersville, Derrick Apple and Emily Apple of Columbia, S.C., and Kellie Crump of Charlotte; 12 great-grandchildren; a sister, Marie Parker of Guilford County; two brothers, Wayne Apple and Wade Apple, both of Guilford County; two special nephews, Jim (Sylvia) Apple of Kernersville and Billy (Virginia) Apple of Greensboro; a large extended family; and a host of friends.
