Frazier, Sara B.
GREENSBORO - Mrs. Sara B. Frazier, 85, of Greensboro passed away Friday, June 11, 2004. Mrs. Frazier was born May 21, 1919, in Stanly County to the late William C. Blalock and Nancy Thompson Blalock. She was preceded in death by her husband, T. Glenn Frazier; five sisters, Nioa B. Shore, Ollie Mae Thomas, Cleo B. Frazier, Nancy B. Reynolds and Evelyn B. Seabolt; and a brother. Sara was a lifelong member of Hinshaw Memorial United Methodist Church. She enjoyed spending time crocheting and knitting. She was a loving person who really enjoyed the simple things in life and will be missed dearly by those who knew her. Mrs. Frazier is survived by a host of nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews. The funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, June 14, at Hinshaw Memorial United Methodist Church. Burial will follow at Guilford Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 6:30 to 8 p.m. Sunday, June 13, at Hanes-Lineberry Sedgefield Chapel. At other times the family will receive friends at the home of Raymond and Betty Reddick, 3825 Frazer Road. George Sr., Alton Gray
PINNACLE - Mr. Alton Gray George Sr., 66, of Spainhour Mill Road died Wednesday, June 9, 2004. He was born Jan. 29, 1938, in Stokes County to Andrew and Susan Emma Frye George. Alton had been employed by Imperial Vault Co. in King for 49 years. Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Easter Mae Bauges; and a brother, Glenn George. He is survived by his wife of 49 years, Vonnie M. George; four daughters, Lyvonne (Keith) Johnston, Tina Willis, Wendy (Ricky) Gregg and Tammy (Rick) Hepler; two sons, Ridley (Katherine) George and Alton George Jr.; 10 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; and two brothers, Willis and Richard George. The funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. today, June 12, at Brown Mountain Baptist Church, with Brother Rodney Matthews and Pastor Gary Styers officiating. George, Nelson Eugene
GERMANTON - Mr. Nelson Eugene George, 73, died unexpectedly Thursday, June 10, 2004 at Stokes Reynolds Hospital. He was born in Forsyth County to Alfred Sylvester and Blanche Long George. He was preceded in death by his parents. Surviving are his wife of 45 years, Georgia George of the home; two daughters, Tamara Dee (Steve) Sheline of Mooresville and Beverly Dawn George of Charlotte; a sister, Frances George of Pfafftown; two brothers, Richard George of Pfafftown and Jack George of King; and a granddaughter, Stephanie Dee Sheline. A 2 p.m. graveside service will be held Sunday, June 13, at Germanton Baptist Church Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the charity of the donor's choice. There will be no visitation at Burroughs Funeral Home; instead, the family will receive friends at the home.

MOUNT AIRY - Harvey William Hairston, 74, of Mount Airy died Tuesday, June 8, 2004. The funeral will be 3 p.m. Sunday at the J.J. Jones Auditorium in Mount Airy. Spencer Funeral Home of Mount Airy is in charge of arrangements.
Harrison, Lindsay Reid
WALKERTOWN - Mr. Lindsay Reid Harrison, 80, passed away unexpectedly at his home on Thursday, June 10, 2004. He was born July 24, 1923, in Forsyth County to the late Percy Reid and Zola Lawson Harrison. Mr. Harrison served his country in the U.S. Army during World War II, where he saw active duty in the European Theater with the 83rd Thunderbolt Division. He was a member of Mt. Olivet United Methodist Church in Walkertown. Mr. Harrison retired from R.J. Reynolds Tobacco Co. as a truck driver with 30 years of service. He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Clara Sutphin Harrison of the home; a daughter, Gina Mounce and husband Steve of Walkertown; a son, Kyle Harrison and wife Maya of the home; two grandsons, Cory and Tyler Mounce; four brothers, Roy Harrison of Walkertown, Porter Harrison of Advance, Willard Harrison and wife Carolyn of Winston-Salem and Wilburn Harrison and wife Sue of Pittsboro; a special cousin, Barbara Sue Sutphin of Walkertown; and several nieces and nephews. A graveside service will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday, June 13, at Gardens of Memory Mausoleum Chapel in Walkertown, with the Rev. Douglas Butler officiating. Entombment will follow in Gardens of Memory Mausoleum. The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 this evening at Hayworth-Miller Funeral Home in Rural Hall. Hartley, Justin Blaine
STOKESDALE - Mr. Justin Blaine Hartley, 18, of Stanley Road, Stokesdale died unexpectedly Wednesday, June 9, 2004, in Rockingham County. He was born Sept. 21, 1985, in Concord to Forrest and Tamra Searchfield Hartley. He was of the Methodist faith. Mr. Hartley was survived by his parents; a daughter, Avian Nicole Hartley; a sister, Brandi Renee Hartley of Stokesdale; his paternal grandparents, Sam and Mary Hartley of Salisbury; his maternal grandparents, John and Sue Hodge of Holden Beach; his godparents, Danny and Missy Everhart and their children, Kristi and Keri Everhart; and many who cared. The family will receive friends from 11 a.m. to noon today, June 12, at Welch Funeral Home. The service will immediately follow visitation at noon today. Hennings, B.E. "Shorty"
Mr. B.E. "Shorty" Hennings, 84, of Bradley Road passed away Thursday, June 10, 2004, at his home. He was born Aug. 13, 1919, in Yadkin County to the late Joseph E. "Babe" and Lennie North Hennings. Mr. Hennings was a 1942 graduate of Yadkinville High School. He was retired with 35 years of service from Hanes Dye and Finishing, and was a certified X-A Harley-Davidson mechanic. He was a veteran of World War II, serving in the U.S. Army under General Patton in the European Theatre. He was awarded the European Campaign Medal with five bronze stars. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Saddie Martin; and two brothers, Paul Hennings and Grady Hennings. Surviving are his daughter, Joanne Croft and husband Frank of Wilmington; two sons, Keith Hennings and wife Teresa and their daughter, Natasha, all of Winston-Salem and Steve Hennings and wife Amy and their two sons, Dylan and Tyler Hennings, all of Winston-Salem; his former wife, Betty Hennings of Winston-Salem; several nieces and nephews, including a special nephew, Larry and Peggy Hennings of Yadkinville; and his friend and companion, Toby. Also surviving are his neighbors from Cedar Estates; his bowling buddies from Creekside Lanes; and many, many other great friends. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him. A graveside service will be conducted at 2 p.m. Sunday, June, 13, at Mount Zion Baptist Church Cemetery on Old U.S. 421 East of Yadkinville by Brother Lawrence Warden. The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. today, June 12, at Gentry Family Funeral Service of Yadkinville. Law, Billy Edward
Mr. Billy Edward Law, 75, died Thursday, June 10, 2004, at the Kate B. Reynolds Hospice Home due to acute non-alcoholic cirrhosis of the liver. Mr. Law was born Aug. 15, 1928, in Anadarko, Okla., to Leo Willis and Lucy Smith Law. He was a World War II U.S. Navy veteran, serving on the USS Worchester. Mr. Law was a graduate of Oklahoma A & M College (Oklahoma State) with a degree in electrical engineering. He was an engineer with Lucent Technologies, retiring in 1989 with 38 years of service. Mr. Law was a former member of First Christian Church (DOC), where he held many offices. He was active in the Marriage Communication Lab Program for the Christian Church of N.C. (DOC), and a volunteer with CONTACT. Surviving are his wife of the residence, Myrna Barr Law; a daughter, Catherine Law of Richmond, Va.; a son, Richard Law and his wife, Dianne; and two granddaughters, Michelle and Kelsey Law, all of Greenville, N.C. A memorial service will be held at 3:30 p.m. Sunday, June 13, at Hayworth-Miller Silas Creek Chapel. The Rev. Meghan McSwain will officiate. The family will receive friends from 2 to 3:15 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home and other times at the family residence. Inurnment will be at a later date at Christmount Christian Assembly Columbarium. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Hospice and Palliative CareCenter, 1100-C S. Neaves, Richard Darwin
JEFFERSON - Richard Darwin Neaves, 72, of Jefferson went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, June 9, 2004. Richard was a member of Fletcher Memorial Baptist Church and previously a member of Healing Springs Baptist Church. He was one of the founding members of the Ashe County Gideon Camp. He retired from United Chemi-Con, formerly Sprague Electric Co., after 45 years of service. In his retirement years, he enjoyed working at Jefferson Landing Golf Course and driving vehicles for local automobile dealerships. Richard is survived by his wife of 53 years, Bonnie Marie Bagley Neaves; his daughter and son-in-law, Rita Clarice and Terry Michael Shatley of Oxford; his daughter and son-in-law, Deborah Carolyn and James Dennis Pennington of Crumpler; his daughter and son-in-law, Nora Marie and Wade Dillon Key of Roanoke, Va.; his daughter and son-in-law, Melissa Ann and Barry William Cox of Jefferson; seven grandchildren, Benjamin Terry Shatley, Sarah Marae Shatley Martin and husband Lyndon Nathanel Martin, Walter Thomas Pennington, Justin Dillon Key, Jordan Alexander Key, Bonnie Olivia Cox and Pierce William Cox; three great-grandchildren, Hayley Elizabeth Martin, Rachele Clarice Martin and Lyndon John Michael Martin; his brother and sister-in-law, James Cleveland and Margaret Shaffer Neaves of Mountain City, Tenn.; his brother, Thomas Guy Neaves of Mountain City, Tenn.; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Guy and Clara Neaves. A visitation will be held from noon to 1:45 p.m. Saturday, June 12, at Fletcher Memorial Baptist Church. The funeral will be held from 2 p.m. Saturday at Fletcher Memorial Baptist Church. Interment will be at Healing Springs Baptist Church Cemetery.
