Redding, Lillian Crater
Mrs. Lillian Crater Redding, 88, of Salemtowne died Saturday, June 5, 2004. She was born Nov. 3, 1915, in Forsyth County to Edward Thomas and Emma Jane Sink Crater. Mrs. Redding spent her entire life in Winston-Salem. She graduated from R.J. Reynolds High School in 1933. She was a lifelong member of the Moravian church, spending her early years at Trinity and her later years at Ardmore. She was a member of the Fellowship Class, Women's Fellowship, Senior Friends and the Mission Society. Mrs. Redding was a buyer for the children's department at Sosniks and Thalhimers. She was preceded in death by her husband, Richard William Redding Sr. She is survived by two daughters, Joan Morgan and husband, Joe, of Charlotte and Carol Fishel and husband, Buddy, of Winston-Salem; a son, Richard W. Redding Jr., and wife, Leslie, of Winston-Salem; six grandchildren, Joe Morgan III and wife, Jean, of Winston-Salem, Julie Beam and husband, Tim, of Weddington, Suzanne Morrow and husband, Joe, of Fayetteville, Ga., Robert Fishel and wife, Sharon, of Concord and Lisa Redding and Will Redding of Winston-Salem; and nine great-grandchildren, Matthew, Morgan and Meaghan Beam, Adam Morgan, Joseph, Daniel and Caroline Morrow and Evan Fishel and Scarlett McHaney. A funeral service will be conducted at 2 p.m. today, June 8, at Ardmore Moravian Church with the Rev. Kevin Frank officiating. Burial will be in the Moravian graveyard. Memorials may be made to Ardmore Moravian Church Mission Fund, 2013 W. Academy St., Winston-Salem, NC 27103. The family wishes to express special appreciation to Gena Wolfe and the nursing staff at Salemtowne for their love and special care over the past years.

Watts, Otis Byneum
KING - Mr. Otis Byneum Watts, 93, of King passed away Sunday, June 6, 2004. He was born Jan. 15, 1911, in Stokes County to the late Jimmy Harris and Polly Emma Tuttle Watts. Mr. Watts was a retired farmer and a member of Mt. Olive Baptist Church. He is survived by two sons and daughters-in-law, Jimmy Gray and Linda Watts, Ralph Odell Watts, Dorothy Watts and Betty Watts; nine grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; a great-great-grandson; three sisters, Ora Baker, Ruth Tuttle and Ersie Hall; and two brothers, Moyer Watts and Marvin Watts. Mr. Watts was preceded in death by his wife, Eliza Emma Baker Watts; his parents; two sons, Grady Byneum and Alvin Richard Watts; two grandsons, Richard "Dickie" Watts and Christopher Grant Watts; two sisters, Savannah Davis and Lillian Baker; and three brothers, Ray Watts, Curtis Watts and Carson Watts. The funeral service will be conducted at 7 p.m. today, June 8, at Mt. Olive Baptist Church with the Rev. Randy Roberts officiating. The Watts family will receive friends immediately following the service. The Watts family will receive friends other times at the home of Jimmie and Linda Watts, 225 Calloway Road, King. A graveside service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Wednesday, June 9, at Mt. Olive Baptist Cemetery. The Watts family is being served by Cox-Needham Funeral Home of Pilot Mountain.

Ashby, Evelyn Y.
STUART, Va. - Mrs. Evelyn Y. Ashby, 90, of 155 Ashby Road, Stuart, died Wednesday, June 2, 2004, at her home. She was born Nov. 9, 1913, in Wallburg, N.C., to the late Mary Ann Garrison Yokeley and Damascus Roe Yokeley. She was a homemaker and a member of the Wallburg Baptist Church in Wallburg. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Walter Lester Ashby; and a sister, Ila Hester. She is survived by her children, Ann Ashby Goad and son-in-law Dean Goad of Stuart and Jane Ashby Cox and son-in-law James Cox of Winston-Salem, N.C.; two brothers, Archie Yokeley and Bob Yokeley of Wallburg, N.C.; four sisters, Louray Crowell of Loganville, Ga., Frances Kestler of Wallburg, N.C., Betty Sapp of Charlotte, N.C., and Norma "Bib" Rhodenhiser of High Point, N.C.; three grandchildren, Steven and Sandy Goad of Stuart, Mark and Karrie Hemrick of Winston-Salem, N.C., and Leslie and Wayne Moore of Stuart; three great-grandchildren, Nicholas Goad of Stuart and Jessica and Jon Hemrick of Winston-Salem, N.C.; and two stepgrandchildren, Christy Cox Spencer and Gina Cox Davis. The funeral service will be conducted at 2 p.m. today, June 4, at Howell Funeral Home with the Rev. Jack Foley officiating. Burial will follow at Patrick Memorial Gardens in Stuart. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Patrick County. Howell Funeral Home of Stuart is in charge of arrangements.

Boger, Eliza Hege
PFAFFTOWN - Mrs. Eliza Hege Boger of Vienna Village died at the Brian Center on Wednesday, June 2, 2004. Mrs. Boger was born March 10, 1918, in Forsyth County to Charlie Marvin Hege and Dora Boose Hege. She had resided at Vienna Village since 1998 and was a loyal member of Mount Tabor United Methodist Church for more than 60 years. Mrs. Boger was predeceased by her husband, Howard G. Boger, who died June 15, 1998. She is survived by two sisters, Mrs. Pauline Jones and husband, Beufort, and Mrs. Ruth Shaw and husband, Arthur, all of Winston-Salem; a special niece, Lana Furr and husband, Richard; a great-niece, Jena Rhyne; and a great-nephew, Brad Dodson. The service will be held at 11 a.m. today, June 4, at Vogler Reynolda Road Chapel in Winston-Salem with interment following at Forsyth Memorial Park. Dr. Earle Wilson will officiate. Memorial gifts may be made to Mount Tabor United Methodist Church, 3543 Robinhood Road, Winston-Salem, NC 27106. Special thanks to the staff of Vienna Village for their loving care.

Brown, Janice Diane
Ms. Janice Diane Brown, aka "J.B., " of 4140 Sunflower Circle, died at 3:20 a.m. Sunday, May 30, 2004. God saw his child on the battlefield fighting so long and hard, and told her, thy good and faithful, to leave Forsyth Medical Center to come on home and rest. Janice leaves to mourn her only beloved daughter, Chanthini L. Pipkins Cruise; a son-in-law, Daryl W. Cruise; her beloved granddaughter, Cyerra Briona Cruise; a sister, Carolyn B. Covington; two brothers, Ira Lee Brown of Indianapolis, Ind., and Cedric Brown of the city; and two uncles, James Brown of Tampa, Fla., and Edward Brown of San Francisco, Calif. The funeral service will be conducted at 1:30 p.m. Saturday, June 5, at the Uncompromising Word Fellowship Church, where Pastor and Co-Pastor Bobbie and Geraldine Jones will officiate. Interment will follow in Evergreen Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 12:30 to 1:30 p.m. Saturday at the church. The remains may be viewed from 2 to 6 p.m. today, June 4, at Douthit Visitation Center. Arrangements are in the care of Douthit Funeral Services.

Cabral, Lucia Lamens "Joyce"
LEXINGTON - Lucia "Joyce" Lamens Cabral, 75, of Lexington died Wednesday, June 2, 2004. The funeral will be 11 a.m. Saturday at North Lexington Baptist Church. Davidson Funeral Home Lexington is in charge of arrangements.

Chipman, Gary Michael
JONESVILLE - Mr. Gary Michael Chipman, 46, of Lauder Lane passed away Wednesday, June 2, 2004, at his home. He was born Oct. 10, 1957, in Surry County to Charles A. and Barbara Haynes Chipman. Mr. Chipman worked with Chatham Manufacturing and with Unifi. He was a member of Mineral Springs Baptist Church. Mr. Chipman was preceded in death by his grandparents, Bill and Daisy Brown Chipman. Surviving are his wife, Lynn Luffman Chipman of Jonesville; two children, Stephanie Chipman (Richard) Cox of Jonesville and Chris (Annie Hart) Chipman of Jonesville; his parents, Charles and Barbara Haynes Chipman of Jonesville; his grandparents, Arthur and Sallie Haynes of Jonesville; a sister, Patricia Chipman (Gary) Holbrook of Ronda; four brothers, Dale (Tammy) Chipman and Gwyn (Sandy) Chipman, all of Jonesvillle, David (Donna) Chipman of Yadkinville and Terry (Tammy) Chipman of Jonesville; two grandchildren, Bryce Chipman and Chase Chipman; and several nieces and nephews. His funeral service will be conducted at 2 p.m. Saturday, June 5, at Mineral Springs Baptist Church by the Rev. Richard Caldwell, the Rev. Tommy Collins and Michael Luffman. Burial will follow in Sunrise Cemetery of Jonesville. The family will receive friends from 6:30 to 9 p.m. today, June 4, at Mineral Springs Baptist Church in Jonesville. Gentry Family Funeral Service of Jonesville is serving the Chipman family.

Collins, Sara Lou Schuyler
WESTFIELD - Mrs. Sara Lou Schuyler Collins, 68, of 1540 Collins Road, Francisco community, Westfield, passed away Wednesday, June 2, 2004, at her home. She was born June 10, 1935, in Surry County to the late Eugene and Alma Schuyler. She was a choir director, Sunday school teacher and a member of Francisco Presbyterian Church. She was a graduate of Appalachian State Teachers College. In addition, she was a retired schoolteacher from Francisco Elementary School in the Stokes County school system, where she loved and treated all her students like one of her own children. Mrs. Collins was an avid supporter of the Stokes County Arts Council and was known as the "Mother" of the Stokes Stomp. She was a member of numerous organizations. She is survived by her husband of the home, James Albert "Jim" Collins; two sons and daughters-in-law, James Randall "Randy" and Jeannine Collins of Boone and Gregory Alan and Susan Collins of Westfield; and a grandson, Will Collins. Mrs. Collins was preceded in death by her parents; a brother, Caldwell Schuyler; and three sisters, Helen Schuyler, Creola Phillips and Mozelle Francis. A graveside service will be conducted at 2 p.m. Saturday, June 5, at Francisco Presbyterian Church Cemetery with the Rev. Robert Goforth and Dr. Charles Howell officiating. The family will receive friends from 6:30 to 9 p.m. today, June 4, at Francisco Presbyterian Church. Memorials may be made to the Collins Family Memorial Scholarship Fund, c/o the McKinney Alumni Center, ASU Box 32015, Boone, NC 28608. The Collins family is being served by Cox-Needham Funeral Home of Pilot Mountain.

BOONE - Mrs. Beulah Carroll Cook, 80, of Boone died Tuesday, June 1, 2004. The funeral will be at 2 p.m. today at Mount Vernon Baptist Church. Hampton Funeral Service in Boone is in charge of arrangements.
