Hudnall, Lloyd Calvin
Col. Lloyd Calvin Hudnall, 80, (U.S. Army, Ret.) of Winfield Ridge Drive, Homestead Hills, beloved father, grandfather and brother, died Wednesday, Oct. 30, 2002, at Springwood Care.
He was born Oct. 1, 1922, in Paris, Ky., to William Martin and Ruby Frakes Hudnall.
Mr. Hudnall was a member of Peace Haven Baptist Church.
He was a retired colonel of the U.S. Army, with 30 years of service, and a retired teacher and track coach at West Forsyth High School.
He was an avid participant in Senior Games, competing locally, regionally and nationally.
He won the national championship in the discus throw in Baton Rouge, La. in 1993, setting a national record.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 58 years, Marjorie Huddleston Hudnall, in February 2002; and a sister, Alma Shupe. Surviving are a daughter, Sara Hudnall-Jones and husband Lonnie of Clemmons; two sons, Charles William Hudnall and wife Doris of Edenton and Lt. Col. Lawrence Martin Hudnall and wife Vickie of Fort Bragg; four grandchildren, Chelsea, McKenzie and Madeline Jones and Martin Hudnall; four sisters, Louise Hickman of Morehead, Ky., Bettye Martenson of Winchester, Va., Nancye Thornberry of Lakeland, Fla., and Drusie Miller of Union, Ky.; and a brother, Virgil Hudnall of Indianapolis, Ind.
The funeral service will be 2 p.m. Sunday at Hayworth-Miller Silas Creek Chapel, with the Rev. Eric Davis officiating.
Full military honors will follow at Parklawn Memorial Gardens Mausoleum Chapel.
The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 this evening at the funeral home.

Mabe, Grace Marie Tuttle
WALKERTOWN - Mrs. Grace Marie Tuttle Mabe, 80, passed away Thursday, Oct. 31, 2002.
She was born Aug. 3, 1922, in Guilford County to Davis Tuttle and Trula Moorefield Tuttle.
She marriage Guindolyn Drew Mabe on Dec. 26, 1939.
He preceded her in death in 1974.
She was a member of Loves United Methodist Church and the Alma Hastings Sunday- school class.
She enjoyed the care and friendship of the Tab and Elizabeth Williams' Adult Day Center.
Along with her parents and husband, a sister, Sara Gerry, preceded her in death.
She is survived by three daughters, Carolyn Peddycord and husband Wayne of Kernersville, Donna Skarzynski and husband Mike and Irma Swain and husband Tim, all of Walkertown; seven grandchildren, Rhonda Landreth of Walkertown, Jeff Peddycord of Walnut Cove, Debbie Hydorn of Belews Creek, Sean Skarzynski of Walkertown, Gwyn Berrier of Clemmons, Todd Swain of Walkertown and Dustin Swain of Madison; 14 great-grandchildren; a great-great-grandchild; and a brother, Phillip Tuttle of Rural Hall.
Also surviving are many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
The funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 3, 2002, at Loves United Methodist Church.
Mrs. Mabe will lie in state at the church 30 minutes prior to the service.
Entombment will follow at Gardens of Memory in Walkertown.
The Rev. James T. Webb Jr. will officiate.
The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 this evening at Vogler & Sons Main Street Chapel.

Simmons, George W.
Mr. George W. Simmons of Winston-Salem died Thursday, Oct. 31, 2002.
The funeral will be 2 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 3, at Carver Road Christian Church.
Visitation will be at 1:30 p.m. prior to the service.
Burial will be at Bailey Cemetery in Walnut Cove.

Tripplet, Virginia Victoria Chatmon
Mrs. Virginia Victoria Chatmon Tripplet, 90, of 948 Hutton St. died Oct. 31, 2002, at her home.
Mother went to be with Jesus, her Lord and savior.
She was a devoted and loving mother and grandmother 'Nannie, ' who always put her family first in her life.
She was born Aug. 27, 1912, in Forsyth County to Henry R. Chatmon and Sarah Chatmon Hauser.
Her cooking, sewing and pillow-making were legendary and an outpouring of her love.
She graduated June 5, 1931, from Reynolds High School and retired July 8, 1977, from Western Electric, where she had many friends who knew her best for her kindness and generous qualities.
She was the oldest living member at First Pente-costal Holiness Church.
She served many years as a Sunday-school teacher, and sang in the church choir, trio and quartet when she was younger.
She loved her church and church family, and wanted to serve her Lord in every way she could.
She was preceded in death by her brother, Roman H. Chatmon; her father, Henry R. Chatmon; her mother, Sarah Chatmon Hauser; her loving husband, Glenn R. Tripplet, on Oct. 22, 1949; her sister, Corinna C. Nading; and her brother, William E. Chatmon.
Surviving are a daughter, Margie (Jimmy) Stroud of Winston-Salem; a son, Henry R. 'Buddy' (Kay) Tripplet of Winston-Salem; five grand-children, Bryon (Jenea) Tripplet, Lisa (James) Williams and Tammy (Keith) Thomas of Winston-Salem; Shara (Kevin) Hedrick of Lexington and Laura (Rob) Tucker of Mocksville; her eight great-grandchildren, Tiffany Tripplet of Advance, Brittany Spencer of Winston-Salem, Shannon Tripplet of Advance, Chelsie and Hailey Thomas of Winston-Salem, Ashlyn and Isaac Hedrick of Lexington, and Bly Tripplet of Winston-Salem; and her two step great-grandchildren, Jonathan and Justin Williams of Winston-Salem.
The funeral service will be 11 a.m. Monday at Hayworth-Miller Silas Creek Chapel, with the Rev. Don Sigmon and the Rev. Tim Wolfe officiating.
The body will lie in state for 30 minutes before the service.
Burial will follow at Woodland Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 this evening at the funeral home.
Her caregivers were her daughter and son-in-law, Margie and Jimmy Stroud.

Tucker, Hobert Glenn
Mr. Hobert Glenn Tucker, 75, of 4840 Dorset Road passed away Thursday, Oct. 31, 2002, at his home. He was born April 16, 1927, in Winston-Salem to Roscoe and Mattie Tucker. He proudly served his country during World War II as a member of the U.S. Navy Air Corps and was honorably discharged. Mr. Tucker attended the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and Guilford College. For many years, he was employed by the accounting firm of E.H. Cannon and Co. Mr. Tucker owned and operated Accounting Associates from the late 1970s. He was also past president of the Exchange Club of Winston-Salem. Surviving are his wife, Flora Tucker; a daughter and son-in-law, Debbie and Sonny Gentry of Wilmington; a son and daughter-in-law, Randy and Sandra Tucker of Huntersville; three grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. A graveside service will be held at 4 p.m. Sunday at Forsyth Memorial Park by Pastor Philip Moore. The family will receive friends from 5 to 6 p.m. today at Hayworth-Miller Silas Creek Chapel.

LEXINGTON - Mr. Thurman C. White, 74, the husband of Florence Rippy White, died Friday at Lexington Memorial Hospital. The funeral will be 3 p.m. Sunday at Clay Barnette Funeral Home in Shelby.
Wilkins Sr., Robert Eugene
SALISBURY - Mr. Robert Eugene Wilkins Sr., 69, of Liberty Commons Nursing & Rehabilitation Center in Salisbury died Tuesday, Oct. 29, 2002, at Rowan Regional Medical Center in Salisbury. Born in Rutherfordton on Aug. 3, 1933, he was a son of the Rev. Thomas Jefferson Wilkins and Evangelist Hattie Hawkins Wilkins. He moved to Winston-Salem at a very young age and was educated in the Forsyth County public schools. He was a disabled veteran of the U.S. Marine Corps., having served in the Korean conflict. He was well-known as a pianist in the Winston-Salem and surrounding areas. He made Salisbury his home for the past eight years. He was preceded in death, in addition to his parents, by two brothers, Lewis 'L.C.' Wilkins and Harold Wilkins; and four sisters, Effie Cannon, Geneva Jones, Julia Thomas and Jessie Abbott. He is survived by his wife, Sarah Barnes Wilkins of Winston-Salem; three sons, Robert (Robin) Wilkins Jr., Nathaniel Wilkins and Leon (Lisa) Wilkins, all of Raleigh; four daughters, Evangelist Vanessa (Paul) Jeter of Winston-Salem, and Janice W. Johnson, Patricia W. (Ronald) Saunders and Cassandra Wilkins, all of Raleigh; three stepsons, Willie (Florence) Barnes and Darrell (Phyllis) Blackmon, all of Winston-Salem, and Abraham (Stephanie) Reid of Portland, Ore.; two stepdaughters, Sarah (Benjamin) Thompson and Evangelist Druscilla (Gregory) Walker, all of Winston-Salem; five brothers, the Rev. Thomas (Grace) Wilkins of Sparta, Richard (Mary) Wilkins and Pastor Melvin 'Rip' (Marion) Wilkins, all of Winston-Salem, Wilbert (Gloria) Wilkins of Blackstone, Va., and Oscar Wilkins of Nyack, N.Y.: two sisters, Beatrice Myers and Martha (Norris) Gullick, all of Winston-Salem; a brother-in-law, Robert (Betty) Barnes of Charlotte; 26 grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. The funeral service was held at noon Friday, Nov. 1, 2002, at Mitchell & Fair Memorial Chapel in Salisbury, with a visitation at 11 a.m. The service was officiated by Pastor Paul F. Jeter Sr. and Pastor Melvin Wilkins of the New World Cappadocia Outreach Center Inc. in Winston-Salem. Interment was at the Salisbury National Cemetery, with military rites conducted by the Rowan County Veterans Council.
