SCHUYLER
RURAL HALL -- Pastor H. Gene Schuyler, 64, of Norman Dr., died unexpectedly Saturday, November 13, 1999. Pastor Schuyler was born in Grayson County, Va. on May 23, 1935, the son of the late Charles Maynard and Cleo Bryant Schuyler. He had been the pastor of Cedardale Baptist Church in Winston-Salem for 18 years and had retired from USAir in Winston-Salem, with 30 years of service. Surviving are his wife, Agnes R. Schuyler, of the home; one son, Tim W. Schuyler, of Westfield; two beloved grandchildren, Trey Schuyler and Audrey Schuyler, both of King; one brother and sister-in-law, H.D. and Betty Schuyler of Winston-Salem; and a host of special friends and loved ones. Funeral services will be conducted 2:00 p.m., Tuesday, November 16, 1999 at Hayworth-Miller Rural Hall Chapel by Rev. R. Zeno Groce, Rev. Clyde Phillips, and Mr. Bill Ring. Burial will follow in Crestview Memorial Park in Rural Hall. The Schuyler family will receive friends from 7:00-9:00 p.m. Monday at Hayworth-Miller Rural Hall Chapel.
WHITE
PINNACLE -- Mrs. Mabel Virginia Johnson White, age 87, of Pinnacle, died Saturday, November 13, 1999 at Stokes Reynolds Memorial Hospital. Mrs. White was born October 1, 1912 in Stokes County to the late Peter Johnson and Molly King Johnson. She was a homemaker and of the Baptist faith. She was preceded in death by her husband, Luther Gideon (Gid) White. She was also preceded in death by her twin sister, Myrtle Johnson Chambers; and other siblings, Lottie Ingram, Annie Bennett, Sudie Fedor, Hallie J. Baker, Lynn Johnson, Clem Johnson, and Woodrow Johnson. Survivors include one daughter, Wanda W. Howell and husband, Benny, of Pinnacle; two sons, Tommy Gray White and Ronnie L. White and wife, Kay, all of King; two grandchildren, Melissa G. Cundiff, of Winston-Salem and Tammy Privette and husband, Daniel, of Raleigh; two great-grandchildren, Zachary Dylan Cundiff and Ian Kendall Privette; and many nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held Tuesday at 2:00 p.m. at Burroughs Funeral Home in Walnut Cove. Rev. Blaine Baker will officiate. Burial will follow in the Peniel Pentecostal Holiness Church Cemetery. Jerry Brian Williams, 47, died November 14, 1999. A native of Ashe County, he had lived in Winston-Salem for a number of years. Survivors include his mother, Faye M. Williams, of Richmond, Va.; four sisters, Marlene Brashier, of Atlanta, Ga., Linda Irvin, of Asheville, N.C., Nina Eaker, of Clemmons, N.C., and Carolyn Malhegee, of Anaheim, Calif.; three brothers, Wayne Williams and Ken Williams, both of Winston-Salem, and Tom Williams, of Richmond, Va. SURFSIDE BEACH, S.C. -- Mr. Kent Raymond Williams, 40, a resident of Surfside Beach, S.C., died in Conway, S.C. on Friday evening, November 12, 1999. He was born in Boston, Mass. on July 12, 1959 to Clyde Raymond Williams and Eleanor MacDonald Williams. Most of his life was lived in Winston-Salem, where he graduated from North Forsyth High School in 1977. He was a graduate of the University of North Carolina at Charlotte, Class of 1981. Mr. Williams was employed by Clayton Mobile Homes in Conway, S.C. He was an excellent salesman and had received a number of professional awards. He was a golfer and loved jogging on the beach. Mr. Williams is survived by his wife, Sherry Gregory Williams, of Surfside Beach; daughter, Daryl Williams, of Surfside Beach; his mother and father, of Winston-Salem; one brother, Scott Lee Williams and his wife, Julie, of Burlington; two sisters, Karen Curl and her husband, Darrell, and Robin W. Hauser and her husband, Scott, all of Winston-Salem; two uncles, Johnny Williams, of Greensboro and Ted Williams, of Mt. Airy; and four nieces, Jenna, Krista, and Lisa Williams, of Burlington, and Haley Curl, of Winston-Salem. The funeral service will be held Tuesday at 2:00 p.m. in the Mausoleum Chapel of Forsyth Memorial Park, conducted by Rev. J. Marion Rector. CLEMMONS -- Mr. James Hiram Wood, 86, of Clemmons, died Sunday, November 14, 1999 at Meadowbrook Manor, Clemmons. He was born February 21, 1913 in Forsyth County to the late William Harrison and Bertha Carolyn Long Wood. Mr. Wood was a member of Calvary Baptist Church and was retired from the Winston-Salem Transit Authority, with 46 years of service. He was actively involved in sports programs with Wake Forest University and local high schools for a number of years. He was preceded in death by two grandsons, David Patterson and Terry A. Brown; a great-grandson, David A. Duquemin; and a sister, Vira Jane Smith. Surviving are his wife, Lena Long Wood, of the home; two daughters, Shirley Patterson of Moorsville, and June C. Sealey of Clemmons; a stepdaughter, Lola P. Brown, of Winston-Salem; three grandchildren; two step grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren. CLEMMONS -- Mrs. Dorothy Elizabeth Elledge Edwards, 77, of 7002 Garrett Drive, Clemmons, N.C., died Sunday, November 14, 1999 at Forsyth Medical Center. Mrs. Edwards was born September 3, 1923 in North Wilkesboro, N.C. to Carl and Mary Dryer Elledge. STATE ROAD -- Mrs. Naomi Ruth Coleman Everitt, 77, of Douglas Street, State Road, passed away Monday, November 15, 1999 at Forsyth Memorial Hospital in Winston-Salem. Mrs. Everitt was born December 22, 1921 in Burdine, Ky. to the late Charlie and Ruth Fine Coleman. She was retired from Lucia where she was an inspector for over 18 years. She was a member of Pleasant Ridge Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her husband, Bruce Everitt in 1993 and a sister, Mrs. Frances Coleman Adams. Surviving are two daughters, Mrs. Linda (Doug) Anderson of Jonesville and Mrs. Sarah Trivette of State Road; a step-son, Dennis (Marge) Everitt of Pennsylvania; one sister, Mrs. Jolene (Gene) Dameron of Welch, W.Va.; two brothers, David (June) Coleman of Big Stone Gap, Va., and Pete (Winky) Coleman of Lookout, Va.; and three grandsons, Jason (Amy) Anderson, Justin Trivette and Jacob Trivette. Johnny Feaster, of 2445 Calendona Dr., passed away on Friday, November 12, 1999 at Forsyth Medical Center. He was the son of Mrs. Mary Feaster and the late Rev. John C. Feaster. Mr. Johnny Feaster was a graduate of Carver High School Class of 1953 and attended N.C. A & T University. He was a member of New Hope Missionary Baptist Church and a veteran of the U.S. Army. Mr. Feaster was preceded in death by one brother, Isacc Daniel Feaster and two sisters, Deborah Cain and Martha Ritter. Surviving is one son, Terry Feaster of New York, N.Y.; two daughters, Patricia Feaster and Lynn Feaster both of New York, N.Y.; his mother, Mrs. Mary Feaster of the home; three brothers, Amos (Vivian) Edward Feaster this city, Willie D. Feaster of Long Island, New York, and Larry T. (Beverly) Feaster of this city; five sisters, Mary Ann Reese of Denver, Colorado, Rebecca Morris of Charlotte, N.C., Mary M. (Rev. Mr. John Deberry Fesperman, 90, of Winston-Salem, died Monday, November 15, 1999 at Forsyth Medical Center. He was born December 26, 1908 in Forsyth County to Wheeler Deberry and LouFenia Sink Fesperman. Mr. Fesperman was preceded in death by his wife, Katie Penland Fesperman. Surviving are one daughter, Rachel F. Lewis and husband, Steve of Winston-Salem; one son, Richard Gray Fesperman, Sr. and wife, Lois of Winston-Salem; one brother, Marshall Fesperman and wife, Dorothy of Winston-Salem; three grandchildren, Ricky Fesperman, Jr., Angie F. GRIFFITH
Mr. Oscar Franklyn Griffith, Jr., died at Arbor Acres Fitzgerald Health Center on Sunday, November 14, 1999. Mr. Griffith was born January 30, 1908 in Fries, Va. the son of Mabel Johnston and Oscar Franklyn Griffith. He was a resident of Winston-Salem for most of his life. Mr. Griffith was a graduate of R.J. Reynolds High School and was employed as a Safety Supervisor with the North Carolina Industrial Commission. He was active in tennis, swimming, water safety, and sports throughout his life. Mr. Griffith taught Sunday School from a teenager through his adult years and was a member of Ardmore United Methodist Church. He was honored by the Red Cross for 60 years of service as an Instructor Trainer of First Aid. Mr. Griffith was Captain in Civil Air Patrol using his expertise with radio communications. He was a charter member of Amateur Radio Club of Winston-Salem and was Pack Master of Cub Scouts and Merit Badge Counselor for the Boy Scouts. A memorial service will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Wednesday, November 17, 1999 at Vogler & Sons Reynolda Road Funeral Home conducted by Dr. William T. Medlin. A family graveside service will be held at the Pfafftown Christian Church Cemetery. Mr. Griffith is survived by his wife, Virginia Pratt Griffith of Arbor Acres; his son, Dr. O.F. Griffith III, Ph.D., and wife, Elizabeth of New Orleans, La.; his daughter, Virginia Nanzetta and husband, Philip of Rockville, Md.; four grandchildren, Michael and Elizabeth Griffith and Kelly and Kathy Nanzetta.
