KELLER
MOCKSVILLE -- Mrs. Nan Beauchamp Keller, 85, of Lexington Road, died Tuesday, November 9, 1999 at Meadowbrook Terrace of Davie. Funeral Services will be Thursday at 11:00 a.m. at Eaton Funeral Chapel with Rev. Joel Boyles officiating. Interment will be in Rowan Memorial Park in Salisbury. The family will be at the funeral home Wednesday from 7:00 until 8:30 p.m. They request memorials be considered for Redland Pentecostal Church, 137 Baltimore Road, Advance, N.C. 27006. Mrs. Keller was born July 12, 1914 in Davie County to the late Jerry and Lula Potts Keller and was a homemaker. She attended Redland Pentecostal Church. She was preceded in death by her husband, William Vincent (Buck) Keller in 1994; a son, Jerry Keller in 1999; three sisters, Della Sheek, Nettie Beheler, and Sally Beauchamp; and three brothers, Robert Beauchamp, Gene Beauchamp, and Joe Beauchamp. Survivors include a daughter-in-law, Carlius H. Keller; a grandson and granddaughter-in-law, David and Emily Keller all of Advance; and two sisters, Ellie Howard of Mocksville and Charlotte Williams of Advance.

LOY
Mr. Gaither Alexander Loy, 71, of 4685 White Rock Rd., died unexpectedly at his home Monday, November 9, 1999. Mr. Loy was born in Kernersville on May 17, 1928 the son of the late Clyde and Carlene Preston Loy. Mr. Loy was a member of Morris Chapel United Methodist Church in Walkertown. He had retired from Adams Millis Co., in Kernersville with 40 years of service and was a veteran of the U.S. Army serving during WWII. Surviving are his wife, Barbara Jean Loy of the home; one daughter, Annette Kay Loy of Walkertown; two sons, Gaither Wayne Loy of Claudeville, Va. and Gary Edwin Loy of Virginia Beach, Va.; six sisters, Betty Loy of Raleigh, Mary and Colon Montsinger of Kernersville, Martha and Don Smith of Kernersville, Niomi and Hurb Alley of Walkertown, Alice-Faye and David Sechrist of Walkertown, and Juliet and Mike Casper of East Bend; two brothers, James and Jeanette Loy of Kernersville and Norman Loy of Jacksonville, Fla.; and four grandchildren, Natalie, Leah, Cassie, and James. Funeral services will be conducted 2:00 p.m. Thursday, November 11, 1999 at Gospel Light Baptist Church in Walkertown by Dr. Bobby Roberson and Rev. Frank Shumate. Burial will follow in Gardens of Memory in Walkertown. The Loy family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday at Hayworth-Miller Rural Hall Chapel and request that memorials be made to the American Heart Assoc., 1386 A Westgate Center Dr., Winston-Salem, N.C. 27103.

McLILLY
Elder John McLilly, Jr., 69, of 901 Martin Luther King, Jr. Drive, Apt.-F., passed away on Thursday, Nov. 4, 1999 at his residence. He was a native and resident of Winston-Salem, born on May 1, 1930 the son of the late John McLilly, Sr. and Martha D. Smith. He was a graduate of Atkins High School and Russell's Business College. He was a member of the Provision of Promise Ministries of Newark, New Jersey and a retired employee of U.S. Information Agency in Brooklyn, N.Y. Elder McLilly was a veteran of the United States Army having served in the Korean War. He is survived by his wife, Lois Pendergrass McLilly of Chester, S.C.; one daughter, Muzette L. (John C.) Wise of Chester, S.C.; one son, Steven Hairston of Winston-Salem; six grandchildren, Quardesha, Laveshia, Lakela, Jamal, Stephanie, and Devonta; two brothers, Edgar (Mavis) Davidson and Henry Davidson of Yanceyville, N.C.; three sisters, Annie (John) Hubbard of Danville, Va., Odessa D. (Woodrow) Gwyn of Yanceyville, and D. Abigail Davidson-Lewis of Bellevue, Nebraska; an aunt, Mamie White of Sumpter, S.C.; four cousins which he considered as "brothers and sisters", Norman Peeples of Detroit, Michigan, Ethel Gilreath, Sarah Griffin, and Gloria Moore all of Winston-Salem; two sisters-in-law, Fannie (Tom) Wright and Flora (David) Frederick of Chester; one brother-in-law, Press A. (Henrietta) Pendergrass of Brooklyn; a devoted cousin, Carleton Gwyn; a devoted neighbor, Geraldine Fries; two devoted friends of 29 years, Altee and Doretha Fonville of Brooklyn; and devoted friend, Daisy Chambers; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family and friends. Funeral services will be conducted on Thursday, November 11, 1999 at 3:00 p.m. from the Spencer Memorial Christian Church with Reverend Nelson McCall officiating. Interment will be in the Evergreen Cemetery. The family visitation will be from 2-3 p.m. on Thursday at the Church. (RUSSELL)

PANNELL
Mrs. Irene Berthenia Logan Pannell, died Sunday, Nov. 7, 1999 at her home, 5080 Butterfield Dr. following a stroke. She was born August 21, 1895 in Plymouth, Massachusetts, the youngest child of Phillip and Olive Logan. She was preceded in death by her parents; nine brothers and sisters; her spouse, John Henry Pannell, Sr.; and her daughter, Otha Pannell Emerson. After finishing Plymouth High School, she graduated from Wilberforce University in Ohio in 1916. She taught one year in Richfield, N.C. before coming to Winston-Salem where she began teaching at Oak Street School. When Columbia Heights Elementary School opened, she moved there, the name changed to Columbia Heights Primary then to Lillie Mebane, where she remained until retirement. She also taught Teacher Training Classes at Winston-Salem Teachers College several summers. She received a B.S. Degree from Winston-Salem Teachers College and her Masters Degree from Columbia University in New York. When she came to Winston-Salem she joined St. James A.M.E. Church, where she sang in the choir, taught Sunday School, and lead the Junior Church. In 1939 she became the church clerk and a member of the Steward Board until 1979. After retiring from the school system, she opened and directed a Kindergarten at St. James A.M.E. Church for five years. Following that, she assisted in the opening of a Kindergarten at the St. Phillip's Moravian Church. She is survived by John Henry Pannell, Jr. (Jessie), Logan Carter Pannell, Therea Pannell Cambric, twelve grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren, and ten great-great-grandchildren. Funeral Services will be held Thursday at 2:0 p.m. at St. James A.M.E. Church with the Rev. E.C. Hughes officiating. Burial will follow at the family plot at Evergreen Cemetery. The family will receive friends Thursday at 1:30 p.m. prior to the service at the church. The procession will leave from the home, 5080 Butterfield Drive enroute to the church at 1 p.m. Thursday.JOHNSON HOWARD ROBINSON.

CARLYLE
MOUNT AIRY -- Beulah Eads Carlyle, 102, of 5178 Siloam Road, Siloam, N.C., passed away on Thursday, November 11, 1999 at the Central Continuing Care of Mt. Airy. Mrs. Carlyle was born in Surry County, N.C. to J. Byrd and Ellen Childress Eads on March 26, 1897. She was a homemaker and member of Union Primitive Baptist Church. She was married to John William Carlyle who died in 1949. She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Frank and Agnes Carlyle of Siloam; thirteen grandchildren; fourteen great-grandchildren; and seven great-great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by her children, three sons, Floyd Carlyle, J.E. Carlyle, and Dock Carlyle and two daughters, Connie Carlyle Key and Bessie Lee Murphy. Services will be held on Sunday, November 14, 1999, 2:00 p.m. at the Union Primitive Baptist Church conducted by Elder Willie Branch and Elder Joey Jenkins, with interment to follow at the Pine Hills Friends Meeting. Family will receive friends and family at the Cox-Needham Funeral Home on Saturday, November 13, 1999 from 7 to 9 p.m. and other times at the home of Frank and Agnes Carlyle, Siloam, N.C. Cox-Needham funeral Services will be in charge of the arrangements.

CHAPMAN
GERMANTON -- Mr. Norman H. (Tom) Chapman, 85, of Germanton, died Friday at his residence. He was born September 27, 1914 in Walnut Cove, son of J.S.B. (Ben) and Cornelia White Chapman. He was a former farmer and was associated with A.V. Chapman's Store for more than forty years. He was a lifelong supporter of Palmyra United Methodist Church and a member of the Young at Heart Sunday School Class. On November 29, 1972, he was married to Ila Young Watts, who survives of the home. Also surviving are one step-daughter and her husband, Loretta and Johnny Bowen of King; two step-sons, Hanes Watts and his wife, Betty Jo of Germanton and Richard Watts and wife, Madeline of Walnut Cove; eleven step-grandchildren; fourteen step-great-grandchildren; two sisters, Mrs. Lorraine C. Stout and Mrs. Mae C. Bingham and husband, Nixon all of High Point; and four nieces; and one nephew. Funeral services will be held at 3:00 p.m Sunday in Palmyra United Methodist Church by the Rev. Jack Danley. Burial will be in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends Saturday evening from 7-9 p.m. at Burroughs Funeral Home in Walnut Cove. Memorials may be made to Palmyra United Methodist Church, 5076 N.C. Hwy. 8, S. Germanton, N.C. 27019 or to Hospice, 1100-C., S., Stratford Road, Winston-Salem, N.C. 27103.

DALTON
AUGUSTA, GA. -- Worth Davis Dalton, of 355 Berkmans Road, Augusta, Ga., died Friday, October 29, 1999 at University Hospital. He was a native of Winston-Salem (Lewisville, N.C.), graduated Lewisville High School and served one year and one day in the U.S. Army at Fort Campbell, Ky. Mr. Dalton completed Brevard Jr. College in Brevard, North Carolina, he received his B.S. Degree at East Carolina University, Greenville, N.C. in 1951 where he was a member of Phi Sigma Phi Fraternity. He was employed by DuPont de Neumours in Aiken, S.C. in the fall of 1952 as a chemical analyst until he was promoted as supervisor in radiological and chemistry laboratory. After the Dupont contract was canceled he was employed at Westinghouse for approximately five years in the same position. Mr. Dalton was quite active in his church, Trinity-on-the-Hill United Methodist Church and was a member of the "pioneer" team of the television ministry and helped with the acoustics during live television broadcasts on local Augusta TV. Mr. Dalton was president of Clark Bible Class, served two years as class secretary, and also taught the Sunday School Classes. He love God, Country, his family, and enjoyed working constantly in his lovely yard. He will indeed be missed by family, friends, and all his relatives, as he was constantly in his quiet demeanor an inspiration to all. Mr. Dalton is survived by his beloved wife, Mrs. Ann Shaw Dalton; daughter, Laura Dalton Smith; four sisters, Virginia Townsend, Ida McHargue, Rosie Burton, and Eleanor Thompson; four brothers, Rev. George, Monroe, Robert, and Frank Dalton; a step-sister, Carol Deaton; two granddaughters, Laura Abigail and Josie Faith Smith; and numerous nieces and nephews. The family received friends on Thursday, (Nov. 4, 1999) at the Poteet Funeral Home West Chapel, Augusta, Ga., where funeral services were held on Friday afternoon at 3:30 p.m. with Dr. Robert Taylor officiating. Pallbearers were Hoke Brantley, Rolly Ahrens, Charley Wylds, Dean Newman, Dr. Toby Warren, Mayor Bob Young, and Dean Smith. Honorary Pallbearers will be the Trinity Bible Class- Trinity on the Hill United Methodist Church. Memorial contributions may be to the American Cancer Society, P.O. DUNLAP
GREENSBORO -- Mrs. Hatie Smith Dunlap, 97, of Guilford Care Center, Greensboro, passed away at her residence, November 10, 1999. She was a former resident of Southeast School Road. The Funeral Serviced will be held at 11:00 a.m. Sunday, November 14, 1999 in the Loflin Funeral Home Chapel, Liberty, N.C. by Elder Vance Jones. A Committal Service will be held at 3:00 p.m. Sunday, at Clear Springs Primitive Baptist Church, Walnut Cove by Elder Jones and Rev. Danny Smith. Mrs. Dunlap was a native of Stokes County, but had lived in Guilford and Randolph Counties for many years. Mrs. Dunlap was preceded in death by her husband, George William Dunlap; her parents, Harber and Suzanne Smith; four brothers; and two sisters. She is survived by two children, son, Harvey W. (Red) Dunlap and wife, Ann of Greensboro and daughter, Marie Petty and husband, Don of Phoenix, Arizona; grandchildren, Ben and wife, Tina Dunlap of Bear Creek, N.C. and Laurie and husband, David Scotton of Julian, N.C.; three great-grandchildren; and her sisters, Pearl Starbuck and Gladys Hill of Walnut Cove. The family will receive friends from 7:00 until 9:00 p.m. Saturday evening, November 13, 1999 at Loflin Funeral Home, Liberty and other times at the residence of Harvey Dunlap, 3737 Southeast School Road, Greensboro.

HILL
EAST SPENCER, N.C. -- Johnny Sam Hill, 53, of 914 North Long St., East Spencer, N.C., died suddenly Wednesday, Nov . 10, 1999 at his residence. He was born April 28, 1946 in Rowan Co. to the late Mamie Saunders Hill and the late Matthew J. Hill. Mr. Hill was a graduate of Dunbar High School. He was an employee of Universal Forest Products, owner of Hill's Upholstery, and a member of Mt. Olive Full Gospel Church, Salisbury, N.C. Surviving are his wife, Patricia Sloan Hill of the home; a son, Jonathan Hill of the home; one daughter, Tiffany Boseman of the home; two step-daughters, Tonya Hartman and Stacy Hartman both of Asheville, N.C.; three brothers, Gene Hill of Salisbury, N.C., Luther Hill of Roosevelt, L.I, N.Y., and Rufus Saunders of Estill, S.C.; and two sisters, Frances Sorocki of Salisbury and Patricia Hill of Spencer, N.C. A funeral service will be held 2 p.m. Sunday at A.R. Kelsey Memorial Chapel with the Pastor Frank Smith officiating. Burial will be in Rowan Memorial Park. The family will receive friends at 1 p.m. Sunday before the service.

NELSON
SUMMERFIELD, N.C. -- Frances H. Nelson, 82, of 4000 Oak Ridge Road, Summerfield, N.C., died Friday, November 12, 1999 at Wesley Long Community Hospital. She was born February 28, 1917 the daughter of Henry A. and Myrtle Smith Highfill. Surviving is one sister, Becky Bolton of Greensboro; two brothers, Norman Highfill and Eugene Highfill both of Winston-Salem; and several nephews and nieces. A funeral service will be held 3:00 p.m. Sunday at Summerfield First Baptist Church with burial in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends Saturday, November 13, 1999 from 7-9 p.m. at Ray Funeral Home in Madison.
