BOGER
Mr. Sherrill Paul Boger, 86, passed away Tuesday, November 9, 1999 at Meadowbrook Manor of Clemmons. Mr. Boger was born March 20, 1913 in Forsyth County to Wiley and Addie Cleary Boger. Mr. Boger retired from R.J. Reynolds with 30 years of service. He is survived by his daughter, Miss Linda Boger of Winston-Salem and one nephew, Mr. Bill Hammons of Winston-Salem. A graveside service will be conducted Thursday, November 11, 1999 at 11:00 a.m. officiated by Dr. Bobby Roberson at Parklawn Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends Wednesday from 7-9 p.m. at Hayworth-Miller Silas Creek Chapel. The family ask that in lieu of flowers, that donations be made to the East Coast Flood victims.

BROWN
Mr. Stanley Wayne Brown, 48, of Lewisville, died Monday, November 8, 1999 at Wake Forest University Baptist Medical Center. He was born May 7, 1951 in Forsyth County to Levi Henry and Ola Mae Hege Brown. He was a member of Center Grove Baptist Church and co-owner of Henry's Electric Motor Service of Winston-Salem. He is survived by a son, Samuel Wayne Brown of the home; two daughters, Amber Brown-Wilson of Arkansas and Ashlee Tennille Brown of Winston-Salem; his parents, Henry and Frances Brown of Clemmons; a granddaughter, Autumn Wilson; two brothers, twin Steve Brown and wife, Daphne of Clemmons and Danny Brown and wife, Barbara of Mississippi. Also surviving are three sisters, Connie Reavis and husband, Carl of Mocksville, Sheran Holt and husband, Steve of Lewisville, and Debbie Brown of Lewisville. A Graveside Service will be Thursday, Nov. 11, 1999 at 2 p.m. in West Bend Baptist Church Cemetery, Lewisville by Rev. Mark Harris. The family will receive friends from 7-9:00 p.m. Wednesday at Hayworth-Miller Silas Creek Chapel.

BRYANT
"God loves you and so do we. " Mr. Otis Milton Bryant, 74, of 712 Glencoe Steet went to be with his Lord Jesus Christ at 8:45 a.m. on Nov. 8, 1999. Mr. Bryant was born in Hertford County, N.C. on Feb. 20, 1925 to the late James Alexander and Susie Harris Bryant. He had been a resident of Winston-Salem since 1941 and had been a member of Gospel Light Baptist Church in Walkertown for 35 years. He loved his Pastor and church family. Mr. Bryant was preceded in death by his parents and a daughter, Martha Louise Bryant. Surviving are his beloved wife of 50 years, Margaret Hege Bryant of the home; one son, Bobby Ray Bryant of Winston-Salem; one daughter, Treva Bryant Pegram of Winston-Salem; two grandchildren, Johnathon and Michelle Pegram and one great-grandchild, Christopher Pegram all of Winston-Salem; one brother, James David Bryant and wife, Ethel of Virginia Beach, Va.; a special friend, his nurse, Katheryn Edwards and her husband, Eddie; and close friends, Helen Hege and family. Funeral services will be conducted at 3 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 10, 1999 at Vogler and Sons Main Street Chapel by Dr. Bobby Roberson. Interment will follow in Parklawn Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends from 4-6:30 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.

BYRD
WALNUT COVE -- Mrs. Edith Elizabeth Byrd, 78, died November 5, 1999 in Madison, Tennessee. She was a native of Stokes County, North Carolina and was the daughter of the late James Bennett and Flora Briggs Bennett. She had lived in Mt. Juliet, Tenn. for the past nine years. Survivors include one daughter, Brenda (Bill) Cline; one son, Aubrey (Becky) Byrd all ot Mt. Juliet; eight grandchildren; and twelve great-grandchildren. A graveside funeral service will be held Wednesday at 11 a.m. at Palmyra United Methodist Church Cemetery in Germanton, N.C.

EFIRD
YADKINVILLE -- Mr. Herman Franklin Efird, 71, of West Cherry Street, died Monday, November 8, 1999 at Wake Forest University Baptist Medical Center. He was born September 30, 1928 in Davie County to the late Carl W. and Annabelle Williams Efird. Mr. Efird was a graduate of Bowman Gray School of Radiological Technology. He retired with 30 years of service as Department Head of Radiology Technology at N.C. Baptist Hospital and Hoots Memorial Hospital. He was a member of Salem United Methodist Church, and attended the First Baptist Church of Yadkinville. Mr. Efird was a former Yadkinville Town Commissioner and was a veteran of the U.S. Army serving in the Korean War as a M.P. Colonel. He was preceded ion death by a brother, Lester R. Efird and a sister, Ellen Faye Efird. Surviving are his wife of 42 years, Carole Pinnix Efird of the home; two sons, Scott Efird of Winston-Salem and Mark Efird of Gastonia; three sisters, Mrs. Elsie (J..W) Brown of Mocksville, Mrs. Lois (Max) James of Olin, and Mrs. Alice (Bob) Griffin of Statesville; and a sister-in-law, Alice Efird of Pittsboro. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Thursday at First Baptist Church of Yadkinville officiated by Rev. Dallas Prestwood and Rev. Richard Eskew. Burial will be at Oak Grove Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 7-9 p.m. Wednesday, November 10, 1999 at Gentry Family Funeral Service Hwy. 601 N. Yadkinville. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the First Baptist Church of Yadkinville, P.O. Box 668, Yadkinville, N.C. 27055.

FRYE
MOUNT AIRY -- Mrs. Myrtle Clara Cox Frye, 91, of 520 Allred Mill Road, Mount Airy, N.C., widow of the late Mr. Fletcher Frye, passed away on Sunday, Nov. 7, at Northern Hospital of Surry County, Mount Airy, N.C. Mrs. Frye was born in Surry County on March 10, 1908 the daughter of the late George Henry Cox and Ella Webb Cox. She was a homemaker and a member of the Grace Moravian Church. Surviving are two sons and a daughter-in-law, George and Pam Frye of Mt. Airy and Steve Frye of Charlotte; three grandchildren, Lori Frye Rogers, Christopher Michael Frye, and Andrew Stephen Frye all of Mt. Airy; three great-grandchildren, Destiny Frye, Gracie Rogers, and Kelsey Frye all of Mt. Airy; a sister, Mellie Harbour of Mt. Airy; and a brother and sister-in-law, William L. (Bud) and Hazel Cox of Mt. Airy. In addition to her parents and husband, Mrs. Frye was preceded in death by a brother, Lloyd Cox. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, November 10, 1999 at 11:00 a.m. at Grace Moravian Church with services conducted by Rev. Charles Fishel. Burial will follow in Gods Acre. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be made to the Grace Moravian Church, 1401 North Main St., Mt. Airy, N.C. 27030.

GARWOOD
WILKESBORO -- Mr. Charles Edward Garwood, 77, of Woodland Blvd., Wilkesboro, died Sunday, November 7, 1999 at his home. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, 11:00 a.m. at Wilkesboro United Methodist Church with the Rev. Christopher Fitzgerald officiating. The body will be placed in the church at 10:30 a.m. Burial will be in Mountlawn Memorial Park. Mr. Garwood was born in Wilkes County, March 30, 1922, to James Lemuel and Annie Carrigan Garwood. He graduated from Wilkesboro High School, where he was an outstanding athlete in football and basketball. He served in the U.S. Navy in the Seabees during World War II. He was a member of Wilkesboro United Methodist Church, the United Methodist Men, the Men's Sunday School Class, and the former co-chair of the Official Board. Mr. Garwood was member of Wilkesboro Professional Business Men's Club and a former member of Wilkesboro Lions Club and Elks Club. Mr. Garwood was the former secretary treasurer of the family owned business, Lineberry, Inc. He was vice president of shop operations until his retirement. Mr. Garwood was preceded in death by his parents; two sisters, Edna G. Hutcheson and Lucille G. McFerrin; two brothers, Joseph L. Garwood and James (Sonny) Garwood. Mr. Garwood is survived his wife, Ann McNeill Garwood of the home; one daughter, Mary Ellen G. Mikell of Beaufort, S.C.; one son, C. Edward Garwood, Jr. of Wilkesboro; two sisters, Jean Garwood of North Wilkesboro and Nancy G. Triplett of Wilkesboro; two brothers, Albert S. Garwood, Sr. of Wilkesboro and N.C. Senator John A. Garwood of North Wilkesboro; and three grandchildren, Tyler Garwood Mikell of Beaufort, S.C., Corianne Garwood, Casey Garwood both of Wilkesboro. Memorials may be made to Wilkesboro United Methodist Church, P.O. Box 197, Wilkesboro, N.C. 28697 or to Hospice of Wilkes, P.O. Box 609, North Wilkesboro, N.C. 28659. Reins-Sturdivant Funeral Home in North Wlkesboro will be in charge of arrangements.

GREENE
WEST JEFFERSON -- Robin Louise Little Greene, 39, of West Jefferson, died Tuesday morning at her home. Funeral Services will be held Wednesday, November 10, 1999 at 2:30 p.m. at the West Jefferson First Baptist Church with Rev. J. Kennith Morris officiating. Interment will follow in the West Jefferson City Cemetery. Mrs. Greene was born in Ashe County on Monday, October 3, 1960 to Robert and Louise Coldiron Little. She worked in the family business, W.J. Hardware, with her husband, Calvin and his parents, G.C. and Wilda Greene of West Jefferson. Robin is survived by her husband, Calvin Greene; two sons, Derrek and Darren Greene both of the home; and her mother, Mrs. Louise Coldiron Steele of Jefferson, N.C. The family requests memorials be made to the West Jefferson First Baptist Church Steeple Fund, P.O. Box 180, West Jefferson, N.C. 28694. Boone Family Funeral Home of West Jefferson is in charge of the arrangements.

HILL
Mrs. Betty Bason Hill, 73, of Winston-Salem, died Tuesday, November 9, 1999 at the Kate B. Reynolds Hospice Home. She was born July 8, 1926 in Guilford County to Samuel Ralph and Neil Faires Bason. Mrs. Hill was a member of Mt. Tabor United Methodist Church. She was preceded in death by her husband, Harold William Hill, a son, Kenneth Manley Hill, and her father. Surviving are two sons, Steven Hill and Samuel Ralph Hill; her mother all of Winston-Salem; one sister, Sara Bason Braswell and husband, Roy of Clemmons; one grandson, Justen Wayne Hill; and two nieces. A Graveside Service will be held Thursday, Nov. 11, at 11 a.m. in Mr. Tabor United Methodist Church Cemetery with Dr. Ken Carter officiating. The family will receive friends Wednesday from 7-8 p.m. at the Hayworth-Miller Silas Creek Chapel. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Hospice of WS/FC, 1100-C S. Stratford Rd., Winston-Salem, N.C. 27103 or to Mt. Tabor United Methodist Church, 3543 Robinhood Rd., Winston-Salem, N.C. 27106.

HODGINS
Mrs. Mattye Lou Davis Hodgins, 86, of Brighton Gardens, 2601 Reynolda Road, died Friday, November 5, 1999 at Forsyth Medical Center. Mrs. Hodgins was a native of Davie County, N.C. where she was born November 28, 1912 to the late John Elmo and Cora Frances Hendricks Davis. She was a registered nurse and nursing supervisor for the federal government for several years before her retirement. Mrs. Hodgins was preceded in death by her first husband, George M. Van Kirk; and her second husband, Ora L. Hodgins. Surviving are a step-daughter, Mary Hubbard of Stuart, Fla.; a step-son, John Hodgins of Batavia, N.Y.; two nieces, Nancy D. Gatlin of Winston-Salem and Myra D. Ellis of Mocksville; two nephews, Donnie G. Davis of Mocksville and Robert E. Davis of Claremont; 9 step-grandchildren; one sister-in-law, Mrs. Nannie D. Davis of Mocksville; and numerous other relatives and friends. Mrs. Hodgins was also preceded in death by three brothers, C. Bynum, Dwight, and I. Robert Davis. Graveside services will be conducted at 4:00 p.m. Wednesday, November 10, 1999 at Eaton's Baptist Church Cemetery in Davie County by Dr. David Gilbert and Rev. Glenn Sellers. The family suggests that memorials be made to Eaton's Baptist Church Cemetery Fund, 430 Eaton's Church Road, Mocksville, N.C. 27028 or a charity of the donor's choice. The family also wishes to express their thanks to the friends and staff at Brighton Gardens for the love and care given to Mattye Lou.

JONES
Mr. Larry Laverne Jones, of 25 Salem Gardens Road, Apt. E., was a native and lifelong resident of Winston-Salem, North Carolina. He was a faithful member of Mt. Pleasant Missionary Baptist Church where he served on the Senior Usher Board and was a member of the Sunday School department. In the community he was a member of the Lions Club and the Winston-Salem Chapter, Council of the Blind. Mr. Jones departed this life on Friday, November 5, 1999 at the Wake Forest University Baptist Medical Center following a period of illness. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, November 10, 1999 at 3:00 p.m. from Mt. Pleasant Missionary Baptist Church with Dr. Douglas Summers officiating. Interment will follow in the Evergreen Cemetery. The family will receive friends thirty minutes prior to the service at the church. He leaves to cherish fond memories six sisters, Darnella Ellis, Priscilla (Marshall) McDuffie, Vanessa Jones, Towanda Jones all of Winston-Salem, Denise (Terry) Jackson of Pfafftown, N.C., and Patricia Ann (William) Daniels of Martinsville, Va.; two brothers, Sylvester (Brenda) Jones of Bronx, N.Y. and Reginald (Cheryl) Jones of Winston-Salem, N.C.; a special devoted friend, Maggie Bynum; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. The family may be contacted and the cortege will assemble and leave from the home of a sister, Darnella Ellis, 1649 Brown Street at 1:45 p.m. Wednesday. (HOOPER)
