Charlie Stimpson
Charlie Stimpson, 61, of Lewisville, died May 17 [2002] at his home after a short illness.
He was a lifelong farmer and was preceded in death by his father, T.M. Stimpson; his mother, Virginia Crews Stimpson; and his nephew Jimmy Stimpson.
Surviving are two brothers, James Stimpson and wife Ann and Clay Stimpson and wife Linda of Lewisville; two nieces, Annette Austin and husband, Bryant of Lewisville, and Crystal Miles and husband Bill of Huntsville, Ala.; four nephews, Lee Stimpson and wife Gilda, Kenneth Stimpson and wife Susan, and Brock Stimpson, all of Lewisville, and Mitchell Stimpson and wife Marlene of Yadkinville; seven great-nieces and great-nephews, Bo, Sammy, April, K.J., Lauren Stimpson, Tara Miles and Brianna Austin; a beloved aunt, Marilyn Tuttle of Clemmons; and a devoted companion, Wanda Ward and children Scott and Amber Ward.
A graveside service was held Westlawn Gardens of Memory in Clemmons, with Rev. Dennis Marshall officiating.

Betty Smith Jackson
Betty Smith Jackson, 62, of Clemmons, died at her residence May 18 [2002].
Born October 15, 1939 in Forsyth County, she was the daughter of the late Alfred Douglas and Maude Billings Smith.
Before her disability retirement, she had worked as a waitress.
In addition to her parents, a brother, Donald Gray Smith, Sr., preceded her in death.
Surviving are five brothers, Johnny Smith of Clemmons, Henry Smith, Edgar Smith and Larry Smith, all of Winston-Salem, and Bobby Smith of Pontiac, Mich.; four sisters, Faye Liddell, Sylvia Lindley, Susie Smith and Elsie Myers, all of Winston-Salem; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were held at Davie Funeral Service Chapel, Mocksville, with Rev. Jimmy Chatham officiating, and burial followed in the National Cemetery in Salisbury.

Leza Bullard Davis
Leza Bullard Davis, 101, formerly of Clemmons, died February 1 [2002] at Meadowbrook Terrace of Winston-Salem.
She was born August 24, 1900, in Forsyth County, to Enoch Armenius and Minnie Jones Bullard.
She was a lifetime member and also the oldest member of Clemmons First Baptist Church.
Surviving are a son, Gilbert T. Davis, Sr. and wife Melba of Winston-Salem; a grandson, Gilbert T. Davis, Jr. and wife Brenda of Advance; three granddaughters, Mona Jones and husband Jack of Winston-Salem, Donna Keylon of Raleigh, and Rebecca Norman of Winston-Salem; six great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were held at Hayworth-Miller Kinderton Chapel, with Rev. Robert Phillips officiating, and a private entombment followed at Westlawn Memorial Gardens.

Olive Bowles King
Olive Bowles King, 76, of Pfafftown, died at her home February 1 [2002] following a period of declining health.
A native of Watauga County, she was born October 11, 1925, to Jones Robert and Bettie Caroline Triplett.
She was preceded in death by her father in 1968; her mother in 2001; her first husband, Junior C. Bowles, in 1981; and a granddaughter, Samantha Parkes in 1999.
She was a member of Bible Baptist Church.
Surviving are three daughters, Pat Reece and husband Rodney of High Point, Gerry King and husband Jack of Pfafftown, and Barbara Bowles of Rural Hall; four grandchildren, Joey Reece, Lavonda Duncan and husband Robert, all of High Point, Darrell Reed of Rural Hall, and Daniel Parkes of Low Gap; six great-grandchildren, Joel Reece, Amanda and Melia Duncan, Dusty Parkes, Brandon Perrell and Kaly Parkes; two sisters, Georgia Hampton and Marilyn Rush, both of Boone; two brothers, Claude Triplett of Boone, and Larry Triplett of Lenoir; and several nieces, nephews and other relatives.
Funeral services were held at Forsyth Memorial Park Mausoleum Chapel, with Pastor Don Jones officiating, and burial followed in the cemetery.

Alma Kathryn Woosley Murphy
Alma Kathryn Woosley Murphy, 74, of Clemmons, died January 29 [2002] at her home after an illness of 10 years.
She was born April 27, 1927, in Davidson County, to Orville Woosley and Lesty Sleter Lambeth Woosley.
She was a homemaker and a member of Hopewell Moravian Church in Winston-Salem.
Surviving are her husband, Lee Murphy of the home; a son, Randall "Pete" and wife Sylvia Baugus of Welcome; and brothers Webb Woosley of Winston-Salem, and Fred Woosley and Diorphy Woosley, both of Lexington, and Franklin Woosley of Clemmons.
Funeral services were held at Parklawn Memorial Gardens with Chaplain A.G. Parker officiating.

Virgil Lee Swaim
Virgil Lee "Buzz" Swaim, 72, of Pfafftown, died January 20 [2002] at Forsyth Medical Center.
He was born October 13, 1929, in Yadkin County, to D.T. and Dovey Swaim.
He served in the U.S. Navy and was retired from AT&T.;
Surviving are his wife, Kathleen B. Swaim; four sons, Victor Swaim, Michael Swaim and wife Becky, Richard Swaim and wife Sandra and Keith Swaim and wife Debbie; 10 grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

Hazel Pruitt Trivette
Hazel Pruitt Trivette, 66, of Conover, died January 28 [2002] at her residence.
She was born July 7, 1935, in Forsyth County, to the late Rev. James Garfield Pruitt and Lola Carter Pruitt.
She retired from Centel Telephone Co. and was a member of Smyrna Baptist Church in Taylorsville.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a daughter, Kim Travis, and a granddaughter, Brittney Faye Trivette.
Surviving are five sons, Lanny Mathis and wife Debbie of Lewisville, James Mathis and wife Judy of Tobaccoville, Johnny Mathis and wife Tammy of Winston-Salem, Carl Trivette and wife Terri of Vale, and Albert Trivette and wife Sharon of Hickory; four daughters, Shirley Hall and husband Rev. James Hall of Thurmond, Jeannie Parker and husband Tracy of Catawba, Alice Miller and husband Gary of Conover, and Frankie Reese and husband Rev. Keith Reese of Taylorsville; two sisters, Jean Whitaker of High Point, and Betty Miller of Taylorsville; four brothers, Rev. Jimmy Pruitt of Elkin, Wade Pruitt of High Point, and Frank Pruitt and Joe Pruitt, both of Grayson, Ga.; 23 grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were held at Smyrna Baptist Church in Taylorsville, with Rev. Michael Barber and Rev. Jimmy Pruitt officiating, and burial followed in the church cemetery.

Fay Hamby Colbert
Fay Hamby Colbert, 89, died at Britthaven of Kernersville, January 29 [2002].
She was born in Wilkes County, September 22, 1912, to Jasper and Dona Andrews Hamby.
She was a very active member of Robin Hood Road Baptist Church, where she had taught Sunday school.
She was retired from Western Electric Co. with 27 years of service.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, William A. Colbert; a daughter, Gloria Jean Taylor; a stepdaughter, Frances Goldsmith; three brothers; and three sisters.
Surviving are two sons, William Gregory Colbert and wife Ann of Lewisville, and Miles E. Colbert and wife Elaine of Winston-Salem; two step-daughters, Juanita Lamay and husband Jack of Sterling, Va., and Delores Eberly and husband Dutch of Annapolis, Md.; four grandchildren; five step-grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and two sisters, Doris Miles and husband Bruce of Ferguson, and Madeline Tesh of Clemmons.
Funeral services were held at Robin Hood Road Baptist Church, with Rev. Levy Goodrich and Rev. David Wooten officiating, and burial followed at Crestview Memorial Park.

Rosa Crews Rogers
Rosa Crews Rogers, 95, died February 2 [2002] at Meadowbrook Manor of Clemmons.
She was born October 3, 1906, in Forsyth County, to Henry and Ella Pegg Crews.
She was a lifelong member of Salem Baptist Church, and she and husband Alvin were owner and operator of Alvin G. Rogers Jewelry on Main Street, for a number of years.
Preceding her in death was her husband, Alvin G. Rogers; four sisters, Laura C. Watts, Lydia C. Thomas, Neva C. King, Minnie Crews; and three brothers, Roy Crews, Thomas Crews, O.L. "Tip" Crews.
Surviving are two special nieces, Peggy Gimmon of Winston-Salem, and Mary Butler of Kernersville, and a number of other nieces, nephews and great-nieces and -nephews.
Funeral services were held at Hayworth-Miller Silas Creek Chapel with Rev. Floyd Boles officiating, and burial followed at Forsyth Memorial Park.

Gail Gough Jarvis
Gail Gough Jarvis, 63, of Winston-Salem, died January 29 [2002].
She was born to the late Jack and Dorothy Jeffries Gough, September 29, 1938, in Forsyth County.
She was a graduate of Mineral Springs High School.
She married William Roy Jarvis December 9, 1972, in Winston-Salem.
She was a lifelong member of Marvin United Methodist Church.
She was a homemaker and a former banquet manager of the Ramada Inn in Clemmons.
She was a loving wife, mother and nana.
Along with her parents, a brother, Jack Alan Gough; and a grandson, Christopher Neill Collins, preceded her in death.
Surviving are her husband, Bill Jarvis of the home; three daughters, Mandy Mitchell Dozier and husband Glenn of Pfafftown, Marcie Mitchell Regenthal and husband Alan of Lewisville, and Page Noble Collins and husband Eddie of King; eight grandchildren, Brian, Jill and Stephen Dozier, David and Lyndsey Regenthal and Sarah and Daniel Collins; and a special friend, Gail Cunningham.
Also surviving are numerous other relatives and friends.
Funeral services were held at Marvin United Methodist Church and burial followed at Forsyth Memorial Park.
