CRADDOCK
Lula Elizabeth Craddock, 83, of High Point Road, died Monday, September 13, 1999, after a lengthy illness.
She was born January 3, 1916 in Surry County, to Jesse and Martha Jane Wagner Heath.
Surviving are five daughters, Annie Mae Wilson of Pilot Mountain, Mary Faye Lineberry and Patsy Craddock, both of Winston-Salem, Brenda Conrad of Walkertown, and Carol Beard of Pfafftown.
She was preceded in death by one daughter, Foy Dull in 1997.
Graveside services will be conducted Wednesday at 11:00 a.m., at King Memorial Park in King, with Rev. Bobby Roberson officiating.

CRYSEL
WILKESBORO -- Mr. Alfred Allen Crysel, 77, of Congo Road, Wilkesboro, widower of Elsie Marie Wike Crysel, died Sunday, September 12, 1999 at Vencor Hospital, in Greensboro.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday 11:00 a.m., at Union United Methodist Church, with the Rev. T. Steven McLain and the Rev. Scott Church officiating.
The body will be placed in the church at 10:30.
Burial will be in the church cemetery.
Mr. Crysel was born October 27, 1921 in Wilkes County, to Richard Allen and Sallie Caudill Crysel.
He was a truck driver for over forty years, later driving for Cashion Oil Company, until he retired.
Mr. Crysel was a member and trustee of Union United Methodist Church.
He served in the United States Army during WWII.
He is survived by one daughter, Mrs. Dwight (Norma Jean) Baity of Moravian Falls; one son, Kenneth Allen Crysel of Salisbury; one sister, Lou Crysel of Wilkesboro; and one grandson.
The family will receive friends at Reins-Sturdivant Funeral Home, Tuesday night from 7 until 9.

DICKENS
ROANOKE RAPIDS, N.C. -- Mr. William E. Dickens, 74 of Dickens Farm Road, Roanoke Rapids, N.C., passed away at his home on Monday, August 23, 1999.
Mr. Dickens was born September 13, 1924, in Halifax County, to the late Jacob A. Dickens and Nannie Sue Vaughan Dickens.
He is survived by his wife, Hazel H. Dickens of the home; two daughters, Clara (Vickie) D. Reese and her husband, Norman of Advance, and Wanda D. Norwood of Roanoke Rapids; one son, Edward L. Dickens and his wife, Lisa of Roanoke Rapids; eight grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; four brothers, Leonard Dickens of Halifax, N.C., Eliott Dickens, and Allan Dickens of Gaston, N.C., Grady Dickens of Nashville, N.C.; and three sisters, Avis D. Williams, Minnie Grace D. Harton, and Hazel D. Hasty all of Roanoke Rapids.
He was preceded in death by five sisters, Pauline D. Boseman, Nettie Mae D. Hawkins, Mary D. Lewis, Bertha D. Shell, and Ethel D. Glasgow and one brother, Warren Vaughan Dickens.
Mr. Dickens was a farmer and a member of the Smith United Methodist Church.
He served as Treasurer in The Methodist Men's Club in 1958.
He farmed for over 50 years and was a member of the Two Ton Peanut Club in 1960 and 1962, receiving recognition of outstanding performance by the N.C. State College of Agriculture and the N.C. Peanut Growers Association.
He was a veteran of World War II, having served in the U.S. Navy (Sea Bees), from May 1944-May 1946.
He was stationed on the Island of Iwojima, from April 6, 1945 to Sept. 4, 1945, and then joined the 90th Battalion, and was sent to Yokosuka, Japan.
Services were conducted by Rev. Grady C. Dickens and Rev. Joe Lister.
Burial was at the Crestview Memorial Cemetery on Smith Church Road in Roanoke Rapids, N.C., on August 26, 1999.
The family wishes to express their thanks for all the cards, prayers, words of concern and acts of kindness that were expressed during their time of sorrow.
EATON
KERNERSVILLE -- Mr. Clemon Washington Eaton, 73, of 2130 W. Mountain Street, died Monday, September 13, 1999 at Forsyth Medical Center.
He was born in Stokes County, a son of the late Oscar Franklin Eaton and Della Mae Boles Eaton.
Mr. Eaton was a WWII Veteran serving in England, Germany, and France.
Surviving are his wife, Ruth Salmons Eaton of the home; two daughters and their husbands, Judy and Danny Evans and Kathy and Randy McPherson all of Kernersville; one sister, Dorothy Burton of Winston-Salem; two brothers, Herbert J. Eaton of Kernersville; Bobby E. Eaton of Summerfield; two grandsons, Glenn Scott Lane, Jr. and Michael McPherson; one granddaughter, April Lane; and one great-grandson, David Seth Lane.
Funeral services will be conducted by Sister Rose Blalock, Rev. Linville Goad, and Rev. Lloyd Cregger at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, September 15, 1999, at the Hayworth-Miller-Cain Funeral Home, Kernersville Chapel, with interment to follow at Gardens of Memory, Walkertown.
The family will receive friends from 7-9 p.m. tonight at the funeral home.

FELTS
RALEIGH -- Nancy Broadway Felts, 64, formerly of Mocksville, passed away Wednesday, September 8, 1999 at Wake Medical Center in Raleigh, N.C.
Mrs. Felts was born April 6, 1935 in Wilkes County, to the late Clyde Nathaniel and Mate Lecta Broadway.
She was preceded in death by one brother J.C. Broadway.
She retired in 1971 from Hane's Knitwear, where she worked in the knitting department for more than 20 years.
She was also an accomplished pianist and was honored numerous times as hostess of the year for the state of West Virginia.
She was very much loved and appreciated by her family and all that knew her and will be greatly missed.
Mrs. Felts is survived by two brothers, Odell Broadway of Chattanooga, Tenn., and Fred Broadway of Mocksville, N.C., and one sister, Edith Ray Broadway Carter of East Bend, N.C.
The family received friends from 7-9 p.m. Friday, September 10, 1999 at Davie Funeral Service Chapel.
Funeral services were held Saturday, September 11, 1999 at 2:00 p.m. at Davie Funeral Service Chapel.
The Rev. Aaron Carter officiated.
Burial followed the service at Legion Memorial Cemetery in Cooleemee, N.C.

GLEDHILL
Lois C. Gledhill, 78, of Winston-Salem, died September 12, 1999 at Wake Forest University Baptist Medical Center.
She had worked as nursing supervisor in various nursing homes in New York, and North Carolina.
She was a member of First Christian Church and was active in the Out of Sight Group.
Survivors include her husband, James T. Gledhill; a daughter, Judy Watson of Whitehall, Pa.; three sons, James Gledhill, II of Winston-Salem, John Gledhill of Patchogue, N.Y., and Robert Gledhill of Wantaugh, N.Y.; ten grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held at 11:30 a.m. today at First Christian Church.
A graveside service will be held October 9, 1999 in Riegelsville, Pa.

GUILFORD
WILSON -- Laura C. Guilford, 72, died Saturday [Sept. 11, 1999].
Funeral services will be Tuesday, 11:00 a.m. at First United Methodist Church in Wilson, N.C.
Among the survivors is a daughter, Marjorie Guilford of Winston-Salem.

MANNING
EAST BEND -- Mrs. Michelle Ricardson Manning, 21, of East Bend, N.C., died Sunday, September 12, 1999.
She was born January 18, 1978 in Forsyth County, to Olin C. and Joann Myers Richardson.
She was a beloved wife and mother.
Surviving are her husband, Richard Paul Manning; one son, Richard Paul "P.J." Manning, II, both of the home; her mother, JoAnn Richardson of Yadkin County; her father, Olin C. Richardson of Yadkin County; one brother, Matt Richardson; grandparents, Charlie and Darlene Myers of Winston-Salem, and Helen White of Greensboro; her father-in-law and mother-in-law, Michael and Kathy Bowen of Lexington; two aunts, Marie Myers and Debrah Myers; and one nephew, Bailey Alexander Livingston.
Funeral services will be 3:30 p.m. Wednesday, at Pleasant Fork Baptist Church, with Dr. Joe Long officiating.
Burial will follow in the church cemetery.

ORR
ADVANCE -- Evelyn Baker Orr of Bermuda Village, Advance, N.C., died September 11, 1999.
She was born in Thomasville, N.C., the daughter of Nell Harris and William Baker.
She graduated from Duke University and was married in 1939 to George Orr, Jr., a former Winston-Salem, resident, who died in 1985.
She is survived by one daughter, Mrs. James Orr Pierotti of Memphis, Tenn., and four step-grandchildren.
The Orrs, who lived in Naples, Florida, for many years, were active in many organizations there.
Mrs. Orr was on the Board of Planned Parenthood and the Board of Voters League of Collier County.
She belonged to Trinity by the Cove Episcopal Church, the Royal Poinciana Golf and Country Club, and the Roaring Gap Club of Roaring Gap, North Carolina, where they were summer residents.
A private graveside service will be held at Trinity by the Cove Episcopal Church in Naples, Florida.
Memorials may be made to a charity of the donor's choice.

PARDUE
NORTH WILKESBORO -- Mr. Andrew Ray Pardue, 79, of Rock Creek Road, North Wilkesboro, died Monday, September 13, 1999, at Wilkes Regional Medical Center.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday at 2:00 p.m., at Rock Creek Baptist Church, with the Rev. Linwood Campbell, the Rev. Roger Tilley, and the Rev. Wade Ivy officiating.
Burial will be in the church cemetery.
Mr. Pardue was born February 14, 1920 in Wilkes County, to Andrew Cary and Rebecca Mae Dowell Pardue.
He was a foreman at Foster-Sturdivant Construction Company, and was a member of Rock Creek Baptist Church.
He is survived by his wife, Margaret Pardue of the home; one daughter, Carol Bryant of North Wilkesboro; one son, Michael Ray Pardue of North Wilkesboro; four sisters, Mildred Tharpe of Roaring River, Maxie Royal of Hamptonville, N.C.; Pat Johnson of Eutawville, S.C., and Jessie Lee Ester of Taylorsville; and three grandchildren.
The family will receive friends at Reins-Sturdivant Funeral Home tonight from 6:30 until 8:30 p.m.
