BENOY
MIDWAY -- Beulah Sink Benoy, 85, of Old Highway 52 S. Midway, died at 2:05 p.m. Monday, October 18, 1999 at Wake Forest University Baptist Medical Center. A funeral service will be held 2:00 p.m. Thursday, October 21, 1999 at Midway United Methodist Church conducted by the Rev. Harry Sellers, Jr. and Mr. Kimmey Presley. Burial will be in Midway United Methodist Church Cemetery. She was born on September 30, 1914 in Davidson County to Thomas Herman Sink and Clara Belle Beard Sink. She was retired form Thomasville Furniture and was a former employee of Erlanger Mills. She will be remembered from the Produce Stand that she ran for the last 20 years in the Midway Community. She was a member of Midway United Methodist Church where she was a member of the Ladies Bible Class and the Dora Reynolds Circle. Mrs. Benoy was preceded in death by her husband, Samuel Alfred Benoy. Surviving are her daughter, Marlene B. Hanes and her husband, Barry of Winston-Salem; her grandchildren, Amber Hanes and Chase Hanes; a brother, Willie Ray Sink of Reedy Creek; and her sisters, Florence Sowers of Welcome, Edna Presley of Midway, and Frances Beeker of Reeds. The family will receive friends from 6:30-8:30 p.m. Wednesday at Davidson Funeral Home-HICKORY TREE CHAPEL and other times at the home of her daughter on Clara-Tom Drive. BINGHAM
Dr. James P. Bingham, Jr., of Raleigh, N.C., formerly of Lexington, N.C., died Tuesday, October 19, 1999 at Rex Hospital. Graveside services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Thursday, October 21, 1999 at the National Cemetery in Salisbury, N.C. The family will receive friends Thursday, October 21, 1999 from noon until 1:30 p.m. at Davidson Funeral Home, 24 East Third Street, Lexington, N.C. Dr. Bingham was born January 29, 1916 in Davidson County. He was a son of Annie Fletcher Bingham and Dr. James P. Bingham, Sr. He was preceded in death by a brother, Dr. W.L. Bingham. Dr. Bingham received his pre-dental education at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and his degree from the Emory University Dental School. He served in the United States Army's Dental Corp for five years during World War II and for four years during the Korean War and was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant Colonel. Dr. Bingham served his community in many capacities. He served as Scout Master of the First Baptist Church Troop in Lexington for many years. He was President of the YMCA and Kiwanis Club both of Lexington. He organized and served as Chairman of the Davidson County Bicentennial Commission. He also served twice as President of the North Carolina Archaeological Society donating a large collection of pre-historic and Native American artifacts to the School of Anthropology at UNC/Chapel Hill. Surviving is his wife, Georganne Coble Bingham formerly of Lexington, N.C. Mrs. Bingham is Director of External Affairs at the North Carolina Museum of Art. Surviving also is a daughter, Mrs. J. Edward Rhodes of Southern Pines, N.C.; two sons, Mr. William Frank Bingham of High Point, N.C. and Mr. James Hugh Bingham, Sr. of Lincolnton, N.C.; one step-daughter, Mrs. James Nance of Lexington, N.C.; one step-son, Mr. Ed Jordan of Lexington, N.C.; and two sisters, Mrs. Flynn S. Smith of Anderson, S.C. and Mrs. Barbara Garrison of Winston-Salem, N.C. Dr. Bingham was the loving grandfather of nine grandchildren. Memorials may be made to the North Carolina Museum of Art, Hospice or the charity of the donor's choice. Davidson Funeral Home in Lexington, N.C. is serving the family of Dr. Bingham.

Mr. Claude Joseph Bodsford, 83, of Winston-Salem, died Tuesday, October 19, 1999 at Forsyth Medical Center. He was born August 2, 1916 in Forsyth County to Alfred William and Settie Nifong Bodsford. Mr. Bodsford was a member of Pine Grove United Methodist Church. He is preceded in death by one son, Terry Lee Bodsford. Surviving is his wife of 55 years, Evelyn ''Ebb'' Bodsford of the home; one son, Ronald Bodsford and wife, Jean of Lexington; two grandchildren, Tiffany and Brandon Bodsford; and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m. Thursday, October 21, 1999 at Pine Grove United Methodist Church by Rev. Jim Bowen. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. DUNNAVANT
Mrs. Elsie Sale Dunnavant ''MaMa'', 93, of 2945 Reynolda Road, died unexpectedly Monday, October 18, 1999 at Independence Village. Mrs. Dunnavant was a native of Amhurst, Virginia where she was born April 27, 1906 to the late Edward and Vertie Sale. She was a longtime member of Beck's Baptist Church and served faithfully as ''choir mother'' for many, many years. She was a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend and will always be remembered for her delightful personality and delicious cooking. Mrs. Dunnavant was preceded in death by her husband, Walter Wilson Dunnavant and a granddaughter, Shirley Allred. Surviving are three daughters, Mrs. Vivian Allred Dixon and Mrs. Betty Bumgardner both of Winston-Salem, and Mrs. Phyllis Johnson of Pfafftown; seven grandchildren, Gary Allred, Donnie Allred, Michael Bumgardner, Judy B. Holder, Kathy Conner, Ricky Johnson, and Karen Johnson; twelve great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; and four sisters, Mrs. Eleanor Davis, Mrs. Susie Thornton, and Mrs. Corine Coffey all of Amhurst, Va., and Mrs. Grace Burford of Roanoke, Va. Funeral services will be conducted 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, October 20, 1999 at Beck's Baptist Church. Dr. James J. Nelson will officiate. Interment will follow in Forsyth Memorial Park. The family will receive friends 7-9 p.m. Tuesday at Vogler and Sons Reynolda Chapel and suggests that memorials be made to Beck's Baptist Church General Fund, 5505 Beck's Church Road, Winston-Salem, N.C. 27106. Mrs. Mamie Rowland Hill, 75, of Winston-Salem, died October 19, 1999 at Meadowbrook Manor of Clemmons. She was born August 4, 1924 in Caswell County to William and Harriet Austin Rowland. She was a member of Vernon Forest Baptist Church, formerly Urban Street Baptist Church, for 52 years where she taught Sunday School for 27 years. She is survived by her devoted husband of 60 years, Robert H. Hill; one daughter, Martha Clodfelter and her husband, Gene E. of Winston-Salem; and one precious granddaughter, Kelli Alease Clodfelter, whom she loved so much. Mrs. Hill was preceded in death by a son, Ronald Hughes Hill and her brothers and sisters. A funeral service will be 7:00 p.m. Wednesday, October 20, 1999 at Hayworth-Miller Silas Creek Chapel with Rev. Amis Daniel officiating. The family will receive friends following the service. Homegoing Service for Mr. Hobert Alphonso Kimbrough, Sr., husband of the late Mrs. Mary Elizabeth Dubose Kimbrough of 457 Bacon Street went to sleep at Wake Forest Medical Center on October 14, 1999 after an extended illness. Mr. Kimbrough was born on December 24, 1925. He is a retired employee of R.J. Reynolds Tobacco Company. He was an Army Veteran of World War II. Mr. Kimbrough is survived by three daughters, Ms. Rachel Mae Brock of Mocksville, N.C., Ms. Constance D. Kimbrough, and Mrs. Sylvia K. Rolle (Alvin) of the home; two sons, Mr. Arnold Hankins (Tammy) of Winston-Salem and the late Mr. Hobert Kimbrough, Jr. of Pulaski, Va.; five sisters, Mrs. Esther K. Miller of Winston-Salem, Mrs. Flora Featherstone of Altedena, Calif. the late Mrs. Martha Bohannon of Farmington, N.C., the late Mrs. Ossie Douthit, and the late Mrs. Corrine Robinson both of Winston-Salem; three brothers, Mr. Joe Barksdale of Winston-Salem, Mr. Walter Kimbrough of Washington, D.C., and the late Mr. William Kimbrough of Pulaski, Va.; sisters-in-law, Ms. Tecora Dubose and Ms. Brenda Dubose both of Winston-Salem; three devoted granddaughters, Mrs. Berkeley K. LAWSON
Mr. Robert Edward Lawson, 77, of Winston-Salem, died Monday, October 18, 1999 at Forsyth Medical Center. He was born February 15, 1922 to William Robert and Minnie Grubbs Lawson in Behtania, N.C. He married Sarah Walker Lawson on September 29, 1942. To this union was born two children, Sarah Kay Lawson Hurd who died October 21, 1998 and Robert E. Lawson, Jr. (wife Ramona) of Raleigh, N.C.; one son-in-law, Shober W. Hurd of Walkertown; three grandchildren, Thomas Lawson of Raleigh, Terresa Parks (David) of Lexington and David Hurd (Amy) of Rural Hall; three great-grandchildren, Samantha Hurd of Rural Hall, Christopher Hurd of Rural Hall, and Joshua Parks of Lexington; and one sister, Viola Bowman of Clemmons. He served in the Army from 1943 to 1946 in the Asiatic Pacific Theater. He belonged to VFW Post #10471 in Walkertown. He was a charter member of Northside Baptist Church and of the Auditorium Class. Mr. Lawson retired from Vernon Foster Builders. A funeral service will be 1:30 p.m. Thursday, October 21, 1999 at Northside Baptist Church with Rev. Larry Easler officiating. The body will lie instate 30 minutes prior to the service. Burial will follow at Gardens of Memory in Walkertown. JONESVILLE, N.C. -- Clarice W. McKimie, 71, passed away Sunday, October 17, 1999 as the result of a car accident. She was born August 13, 1928 in Elkin, N.C. to Nathan Hubert and Pear Woodruff Williams. She was a 1945 graduate of Boonville School and a member of Island Ford Baptist Church. She was an employee at McDonalds in Jonesville and the Chamber of Commerce in Yadkinville, N.C. She was also a volunteer for the Make-A-Wish Foundation of Central and Western, N.C. Clarice is preceded in death by her husband, Ray on August 19, 1999; her father, Hubert Williams in 1977; her mother, Pearl W. Williams, October 11, 1999; and a granddaughter, Chrissy Elliott in 1991. She is survived by one son, Richard Casstevens of Hampton, Va.; three daughters, Brenda (John) Detert of Hampton, Christine (J.C.) Elliott, and Darlene (Larry) Crews all of Boonville, N.C.; one step-daughter, Rita Merlenbach of St. Louis, Mo.; and one step-son, Chris McKimnie of Bethany, Okla.; seven grandsons; two granddaughters; two great-granddaughters; and a special friend, Becky Boyles of Mocksville, N.C. MITCHELL
Mr. Herbert Mitchell, husband of the late Mrs. Edith P. Mitchell of 1218 Bretton St., formerly of 430 Granville Drive was born May 11, 1932 in Lane, South Carolina to the late Charles and Rosa Staggers. He attended the Williamsburg County Schools and attended Bethel AME Church. He was a fourteen year veteran of the United States Army and a long time employee of the City of Winston-Salem before his health declined. he recently joined Genesis Victory Outreach Church and was baptized in the name of the Lord. In addition to his wife, Mr. Mitchell was preceded in death by two sons and several special sisters and brothers. He departed this life into eternal rest on Saturday, October 16, 1999 at the home of a sister in Lane, South Carolina. He leaves to cherish his memory always, three daughters, Carolyn (Ralph) Torrence with whom he lived and Sheila (Otis) Murphy all of Winston-Salem, and Rosalyn Little of Lane, S.C.; two sons, Rodney Mitchell of Winston-Salem, N.C. and John (Margaret) Canty of Forreston, S.C.; a daughter-in-law, Deloris Canty, Lane, S.C.; eight grandchildren, Kevan and Devino Torrence of the home, Lawanda (James) Brown, Kenyatta, Katreena, and Jamilia Mitchell, Courtney Murphy all of Winston-Salem, N.C., and Antwon Long of Lane, S.C.; three great-grandchildren, Victoria and Alexis Mitchell, and Sharneice Brown all of Winston-Salem; four sisters, Louanna Wilson and Trudie Parson both of Winston-Salem, Martha Perry of Jamaica, N.Y., and Virgiree Parson of Lane, S.C.; five step-sisters; four sisters-in-law, Josephine Robinson and Geneva Purvis both of Winston-Salem, Evelyn Mitchell of Philadelphia, Pa., and Eliza Thomas of St. Albans, N.Y; two aunts and uncles; devoted friends, Mr. and Mrs. Rodney Austin and family of Winston-Salem; and a host of other loving relatives and friends.
