JESTER
RURAL HALL -- Mr. Curlie Lee Jester, 75, of 6266 Stanleyville Dr., died Tuesday, October 26, 1999 at the Nursing Center at Oak Summit. Mr. Jester was born on May 8, 1923 in Forsyth County to David M. and Ursula Bumgardner Jester. Mr. Jester served in the U.S. Army during World War II in the 99th Infantry. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Edna Johnson Jester, his step-mother, Mozelle Moser Jester; and a brother, Harold M. Jester. Surviving are two sons, Curtis L. Jester of Boonville and Dale M. (Theresa) Jester of the home; two granddaughters, Jessica Lynn Jester of Winston-Salem and Samantha Nichole Jester of the home; three sisters, Norma Jester Joyner of Mooresville, Sarah Jester Parrish, and Sybil Jester Joyner both of Winston-Salem; three brothers, Ronald D. Jester of Bethania, Ira Eugene Jester of Winston-Salem, and Stephen L. Jester of Farmington; and a niece, Patricia Jester Ritchie of Rural Hall. Funeral services will be conducted Thursday, October 28, 1999 at 2:00 at the Huff Funeral Home Chapel by Rev. Randy Johnson and Rev. Elisha Robertson. Burial will follow in the Allen-Johnson Family Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 7:00 until 9:00 Wednesday evening at Huff Funeral Home in East Bend.
KIRBY
Mr. Robert Kenneth Kirby, 84, of 4412 Reidsville Rd., died Monday, Oct. 25, 1999 at Forsyth Medical Center. Mr. Kirby was born Dec. 25, 1914 in Allegany, Md. to William Howard and Matilda Frankenberry Kirby. He was a member of Gospel Light Baptist Church in Walkertown and a retired employee of Unique Furniture Co. Surviving are his wife, Virginia Bowman Kirby of the residence; one daughter, Deborah K. Houckand her husband, Brad of Raleigh; one son, Kenneth A. Kirby and his wife, Lilia of Hayward, Calif; and four grandchildren. The funeral will be held Thursday, October 28, 1999 at 2:00 p.m. in Gospel Light Baptist Church by Dr. Bobby Roberson. The family will receive friends from 12-2 p.m. Friday at the church. REIDSVILLE -- Dorothy Mae Bollin Mabe, 67, of Reidsville, N.C., died Monday morning, October 25, 1999 at Annie Penn Hospital. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, October 27, 1999 at 11:00 a.m. at Wilkerson Funeral Home. Interment will follow at 2:00 p.m. at Northview Primitive Baptist Church in Danbury, N.C. She was born in Stokes County to the late Elmer Rufus Wade Bollin and Betty Mae Taylor Bollin. She was preceded in death by her husband, Henry Clyde Mabe in 1965. Surviving are two daughters, Jeanette Edwards of Manchester, Tenn. and Sandra Stevens and husband, Robert of Sutherlin, Va. and four grandchildren. Mr. Rodney Deon Mills, Sr., 28, of 1820 Franciscan Terrece, Apt. J, passed away October 23, 1999 at WFU/Baptist Medical Center. He was born Dec. 1, 1970 to the late Melvin Crosby and Ms. Constance Mills who survives. Mr. Mills was a chef at Applebee's Restaurant and a member of Zion Memorial Baptist Church. He leaves to cherish his memory, two daughters, Miss Tor'Sanya Mills of Winston-Salem and Miss Kimberly Mills of Fredricksburg, Va.; two sons, Master Rodney D. Mills, Jr. and Jerrod Coleman both of Winston-Salem; a devoted sister, La-Tresa Mills of Winston-Salem; one brother, James Thomas of Winston-Salem; his grandmother, Mrs. Bertha Mills of Winston-Salem; three aunts, Mrs. Jacqueline (Richard) Roane of Walkertown, N.C., Mrs. Jeanette Roseboro, and Ms. Carol Mills; two uncles, Mr. Tony Crosby and Mr. Leon (Queen) Crosby; one nephew, Master DeMario Gist; two nieces, Miss Jazmin Williams and a devoted niece, Miss Crystal Banner; and a host of cousins, other relatives and friends. SILER CITY -- Mr. Paul H. Nance, 87, of 1800 Beach Drive, Gulport, Miss., died Saturday, October 23, 1999 at Gulf Coast Community Hospital, Biloxi, Miss. A graveside service will be held Friday, October 29, 1999 at 11:00 a.m. at Hope Cemetery, Bonlee, N.C. conducted by Rev. Travis Owen. Burial will be in Hope Cemetery. Mr. Nance was born in Red Oak, N.C. and was a retired Navy veteran. He was the son of Paul and Hattie Nance, a long time residence of Bonlee, N.C., and was preceded in death by his wife, Laura Greta Nance in 1982; his brother, Timothy Nance; and two sisters, Ida May Liles and Margaret Saari. Surviving are his brother, DeWitt Nance of Charlotte, N.C.; two sisters, Frances N. Nash of Danbury, Conn. and Lucy N. Willey of Myrtle Beach, S.C.; and several nieces and nephews. BROWN
WILKESBORO -- Mr. Johnny Mack Brown, age 47, of Cornsilk Lane, died Friday, November 26, at Davis Medical Center in Statesville. Mr. Brown was born April 23, 1952 in Wilkes County to Charlie Brown and Julia Souther Brown Steelman. He was a member of Grace Baptist Church, where he served as the pianist, church clerk, church treasurer, and Sunday school teacher. He was a well known piano player for several gospel groups. He was an accountant for 26 years. Surviving are his wife, Ruth Moore Brown, of the home; his mother, of Wilkesboro; four brothers, Marvin Brown, Kenneth Brown, Ronnie Brown, and Randy Brown, all of Wilkesboro. Funeral services will be conducted 2:00 p.m. today, Sunday, November 28 at Grace Baptist Church, with The Rev. Clyde Holleman, Jr. and The Rev. Allen Barker officiating. The body will be placed in the church at 1:30 p.m.. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Mrs. Minnie Parks Franklin, 76, of Winston-Salem, died unexpectedly Wednesday, November 24, 1999 at Forsyth Medical Center, following a period of declining health during the past year. She was born April 10, 1923 in Forsyth County to Eugene F. and Della Overby Parks. Mrs. Franklin was a lifelong member of Fries Memorial Moravian Church. She was preceded in death by her husband, John Edward Franklin, in December, 1998; four brothers, Ernest, Frank, Clyde, and James Parks; and a sister, Maggie Lineberry. Surviving are a daughter, Sandra F. Hinrichsen and husband, Claus, of Clemmons; a son, Dennis E. Franklin and wife, Sharon, of Hermitage, Tenn.; a grandson, John S. Franklin, of Newburg, Ind.; two sisters, Mary Nelson and Louise Weavil, both of Winston-Salem; a sister-in-law, Helen Robarge, of Greenfield Center, N.Y.; several nieces and nephews; and her loving dog, Peko. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Monday at Hayworth-Miller Silas Creek Chapel, with Rev. Stuart Zimmerman officiating. Burial will follow in the Moravian Graveyard. ROANOKE, Va. -- Mary Folger Hauser, 72, formerly of Dobson, N.C., died Saturday, November 27, 1999. She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert L. ''Bob'' Hauser. She was a member of D.A.R. Surviving are her daughters, Jean Folger Hauser Lee and Robin Hauser Franklin, both of Roanoke; grandsons, Travis H. Epes, IV and Samuel Zachary Folger Franklin; a dearly beloved sister, Elizabeth Folger Parker; and numerous nieces; nephews; and cousins. Graveside services will be held 2:00 p.m., Monday, November 29, 1999 in Evergreen Burial Park. The Rev. Nolan Teague will officiate. EAST BEND -- Mr. Warren H. (Oats) Hicks, of 5000 Friendship Circle, died Friday, November 26, 1999. Mr. Hicks was born in Forsyth County on February 28, 1948 to Robert and Thelma Hicks Hicks. He was preceded in death by his parents. Surviving are his special wife, Myra Phillips, of the home; one very special sister, Mrs. Cecil (Alice) Barber, of Tobaccoville; a special brother, Vance (Cynthia) Hicks, of Tobaccoville; a very special niece, Miss Brooke Crutchley, of East Bend, who was the apple of his eye ; a special mother-in-law, Ruby Phillips, of East Bend; one very special lifetime friend, Danny Matthews, of East Bend; one niece; three nephews; and a great niece. Mary Ledford Horne, 79, formerly of 625 W. Sixth Street, died November 22, 1999, at the Nursing Center at Oak Summitt. She was a registered nurse, a talented artist and musician, and a member of Centenary United Methodist Church. Survivors include a son, Robert M. Butler, Jr., of Lakewood, Colo.; a brother, Finley P. Ledford, Jr., of Huntsville, Ala.; four sisters, Nina L. Goble and Wanda Lunsford, both of Winston-Salem, Wordna Agee and husband, Luther, of Oak Ridge, Tenn., and Judy Carlisle and husband, Russell, of Jacksonville, Fla.; two grandchildren; three great grandchildren; and a number of nieces and nephews. A graveside service will be held at 2:00 p.m., Monday November 29, at Forsyth Memorial Park. Arrangements by Memorial Funeral Chapel.
